Host Jo Reed and AudioFile's Kendra Winchester discuss Rebecca Lowman's evocative performance of this atmospheric novel—with a large dash of fabulism—set in the Alaskan wilderness. Birdie is a single mom who is waitressing at a lodge when a man walks in and changes her life. Arthur is an outdoorsman, a man of few words, but it's love at first sight. Birdie and her daughter, Emaleen, go to live with Arthur in his remote cabin, spending the summer days basking in the beautiful Alaskan mountains. It's all idyllic—until a dark element enters the story. House of Commons sat late into last evening, but DID pass the Liberal government's proposed GST break on some key items - starts December 14/ends February 15. 176-151 the legislation passed…in essence it was the Liberals & NDP combining, as often has been the case – the Conservatives & Bloc Quebecois voted against the deal… 2. This feels TOO easy but Poilievre has hammered Trudeau for disappearing re: the border tariffs question & he's praising the Premiers (yes, even Doug Ford!) for the work they're doing - fair criticism based on the week you've seen? Does all this work benefit Ford politically? There's SOME "incumbent anger" in the province....but must be frustrating for Bonnie Crombie & Marit Stiles to watch Doug get flowers, yes? Rebecca Lowman's narration is captivating in this novel by Kiersten White. Host Jo Reed and AudioFile's Michele Cobb discuss this novel centered around a canceled TV series for kids, “Mister Magic,” and the five members of its final cast who are brought together to record a podcast. No recordings of the original show exist, and there's no record of who filmed it, but fans still have its haunting kids' songs stuck in their heads. Lowman captures the buildup as the cast piece together the tragic events that led to the show's abrupt end. Her performance keeps this fun, creepy thriller entertaining to the end. Rainer Lowman and her husband Mitch put their hearts on the line for God--they adopted three children with special medical needs from China. Each time Rainer and Mitch sat down to discern their adoptions they would ask themselves how God had equipped them to potentially help a child and what their lives would look like if they said “yes.” Rainer talks about the call to adoption and the beauty of the "yes." Rainer has had to turn to and depend on God in ways she never could have imagined—she says there is no where she would rather be than in full surrender and total need of Jesus. Rainer reminds us that God always offers us, "a fresh cup of hope." Rainer founded “Hearts Together Nashville,” a ministry for foster and adoptive moms to gather monthly to share, support and provide resources. This is the final episode in a series of episodes where I am addressing topics that have come up as I have discipled women through the years. Today I am talking to both those being discipled and those who are discipling. If you have been around for awhile you have heard me talk about our discipleship tree. In fact We talked in detail about the 3 levels of discipleship in episode 43- The PLAA Process, Finding a Paul, Barnabus, and Timothy. Every Jesus follower needs to have someone discipling or mentoring them. So how can you prepare yourself to be a fruitful disciple? I have 4 things that we must practice if we hope to get the most out of our time with our discipler and L.O.C.K. in the things that we learn as a disciple. This episode would be a great one to pass on to someone that you are discipling so they know what you are expecting of them as you begin meeting together. Or maybe you are looking for someone to disciple…today I am going to give you a list of what to look for in a woman that is ready for discipleship.Show NotesSupport the showDiscipleship Survey (for women only)Purchase Your Bible Journal HereSign up for our JOR Inside Look Emails Facebook | Instagram Thanks for listening! This episode is a continuation of topics that i have discussed with women I have discipled. Maybe the first time I came upon them, I wasn't too confident and it would have been nice to have a couple idea of how to respond or where to go in God's word for an example. We all come to this point in our life where we want to know what our purpose is in life. Sometimes we even figure out what our purpose is in life and then things change and we again enter a time of uncertainty! Today we are going to look at an example of someone in scripture that had a pretty interesting path towards his purpose, some tools for finding our purpose and how that search relates to your car's GPS!Show NotesSupport the showDiscipleship Survey (for women only)Purchase Your Bible Journal HereSign up for our JOR Inside Look Emails Facebook | Instagram Thanks for listening!
