In this episode, Lindsey sits down with Kalayna Walker. Kalayna is a former NBA dancer, a published author and a senior at LSU. At age 7, she lost all of her hair. Her mom started making her customized wigs–wigs she agonized over keeping secure at sleepovers with her dance team, while she slept, dancing on the court at an NBA game, in the shower. She kept her baldness a secret for 13 years–all the way up until last year. Lindsey and Kalayna talk about what changed, the unexpected reaction she got when she went to class bald for the first time in her life, telling her friends about her alopecia and of course, how it all led to her now speaking publicly about her journey and even starting her own youth mentorship program.

The Bald and the Beautiful with Trixie Mattel and Katya Zamo
In this impeccably-coiffed episode, Trixie and Katya luxuriate in the cultural gravitas of wigs: those mercurial crowns of artifice, seduction, and spectacle. Act Two detonates with an opulent, penetrating dissection of Weapons, that brooding cinematic masterwork whose themes of menace and morality gleam as dazzlingly as a freshly-honed rapier. The final act pirouettes into both low and high philosophy, as our heroines distill lustrous insights on identity, power, and performance from a sumptuous knot of tresses and manual flatbed trucks. The exceedingly large amount of wit and wonder contained herein affirms that beauty, like battle, demands both audacity and discriminating discernment. This episode is sponsored by BetterHelp. Send us a textWhen Dr. Felicia Lowman-Sikes walked into the kitchen during her lunch break and saw the GCA leadership team waiting, she had no idea what was coming. She was about to be named District Teacher of the Year. Cue the cameras, a little disbelief, and a lot of emotion.Felicia teaches kindergarten and brings energy, heart, and a love of learning into every lesson. She sings songs about nouns. She plans Fun Fridays with color themes and silly wigs. Her goal is simple. She wants every student to feel loved and to love learning. She didn't always plan on being a teacher. Law school was the original path until one education class gave her a glimpse of the classroom. That moment changed everything. She went on to earn her doctorate in curriculum and instruction and says she keeps learning because she wants to make a real difference. One of the best compliments she's ever received came after the school year ended. A student sent her a voice message saying he missed her, wanted to come back to school, and loved her. That kind of love sticks.Outside the classroom, Felicia finds peace in the outdoors. She loves gardening, hiking, and camping with her family. Her students have taught her a lot too. She's learned to stay resilient and not take life too seriously. She gives credit to her entire primary team, her co-teachers, her parapro Kay, her administrators, and her husband and daughter. This award is a celebration of her impact, but also of the people who support her along the way.

Send us a textCan lasers help to combat hair loss? Tamim Hamid comes from a long line of medicine, but chose to enter the engineering world. However, he still had the instinct to want to help people.Tamim was a NASA engineer, who invented a laser to measure thermoprotection of the shuttles outer shell upon re-entry to the Earth.Lasers were invented in the 60's, and he learned about them in school in the 80's.He then invented a new laser in silicon valley. He found a study on lasers & hair growth, which was recorded in 1965 and tested on mice, which showed that a certain frequency could stimulate hair to grow.Lasers work differently depending on the setting and the frequency. Laser light can stimulate human tissue, specifically hair follicles, and it triggers the mitochondria in the bulge of the hair root. This can extend the anagen phase and stimulate growth in the papilla, along with strengthening the arrector pili muscle.Tamim has now invented the Theradome helmet, which he says is the only FDA approved device in the world that can stop hair loss.Connect with Tamim:InstagramBook Hair & Scalp Salon Specialist course Support the showConnect with Hair therapy: Facebook Instagram Twitter Clubhouse- @Hair.Therapy Donate towards the podcast Start your own podcastHair & Scalp Salon Specialist Course ~ Book now to become an expert!

The Bald and the Beautiful with Trixie Mattel and Katya Zamo
A storm of lace bodices and shattered dreams erupts as Trixie and Katya revisit Episodes 5 and 6, where the workroom transformed into a bloody battlefield and destiny itself teetered on stilettos. Katya, radiant yet tormented, recalls the soaring ecstasy of comedic victory before plunging into the abyss of crippling self-doubt, her every glance a silent scream for redemption. With the dual crucibles of Shakespearean tragedy and a sinister Snatch Game, crowns were forged and egos were obliterated. The legendary Ru Hollywood Stories challenge unfurled like a telenovela within a telenovela, blurring fiction and truth in a tempest of wigs and weeping. In this operatic retelling, Trixie and Katya render the runway not as mere fabric and dime store wigs, but as an altar upon which laughter, heartbreak, and RuPaul's merciless decree were sacrificed in the name of drag divinity. Segment 4 of Hour 2 is a rapid-fire wild ride through bizarre headlines and relatable outrage. Marc kicks it off with a jaw-dropping TSA story: a woman at Miami International tried to smuggle live turtles in her bra—yes, really. One turtle didn't survive, and PETA hasn't responded yet. The crew erupts in laughter trying to figure out the physics of turtle smuggling. Then it's onto a Phoenix Mercury WNBA player who lost her wig mid-game, prompting an actual pause in play so she could reattach it. Kim questions the practicality of wearing wigs in sports while Marc just wants to know why they stopped the game. Things turn serious when they discuss Caitlin Clark's stalker—an Iowa man sentenced to just 2.5 years for harassing her with sexually explicit messages. Kim shares her own chilling stalker story, reminding listeners that this is a widespread issue, especially for women in media. The segment rounds out with a debate on hotel amenities (yes, people are paying extra for Wi-Fi and AC), Airbnb horror stories, and a Massachusetts woman attacked by a raccoon while letting her dog out. Chaos, comedy, and a touch of crazy—all before the top of the hour.

Daily Halacha Podcast - Daily Halacha By Rabbi Eli J. Mansour
The Halacha below was derived from multiple classes orated by Rabbi Eli Mansour in the Bekiim B'Halacha series. Click on any of the dates below to hear the original audio files, which are the sources for today's Halacha below. 04/23/25 ; 04/29/25 ; 05/05/25 ; 05/18/25 Can One Wear Tefillin on Top of a Hat, Bandage, or Scalp Cover—And When Is This Permitted? Tefillin Shel Rosh must sit directly on the head, without any barrier (hatssitsa) between the box or straps and the skin. But what if a person is cold, recovering from surgery, or must wear a bandage or other covering on the scalp? Are there exceptions in such cases? Must the Tefillin Shel Rosh Touch the Head Directly? Yes. According to the Shulhan Aruch (Orah Haim 27:4), the Tefillin Shel Rosh must be placed directly on the skull, with no hat, yarmulke, or material in between. This is derived from the word "bein einecha"—"between your eyes"—which the Rabbis understood as referring to a specific location on the skull that must be directly under the Tefillin. The box of the Shel Rosh (the bayit) and the knot at the back (the kesher) must both rest directly on the skin. The halacha considers anything in between to be a hatssitsa, which invalidates the Misva. What If There's a Medical Condition or Bandage? If someone has a medical bandage, stitches, wound, or skin sensitivity, and it is difficult to wear Tefillin directly on the scalp, he may still put on the Shel Rosh over the bandage—without a Beracha. This is a ruling based on the principle of safek Berachot lehakel: when there's doubt about whether a Beracha is appropriate, we refrain from reciting it. Hacham Ovadia Yosef writes that one may rely on the view of the Rashba, who held that the Beracha is still valid even if the Tefillin rests on a hat or covering. However, since most Poskim disagree, the person should wear the Tefillin without a Beracha. Does This Apply to Cold Weather or Wind? Yes, but only under specific circumstances. If a person feels unwell or is sensitive to the cold and is unable to remove his hat, he may place the Tefillin on top of a thin head covering. Again, he should do so without a Beracha. If the person can tolerate it, even for just a few moments, it is best to briefly remove the hat or covering, place the Tefillin correctly, and then replace the covering in a way that doesn't interfere with the box or the straps. Some wool hats or fitted caps can be gently pulled over the bayit once it's already in place. Can Women Assist Someone with Head Tefillin Placement in These Cases? Yes. In cases where someone is physically unable to reach the correct spot—due to illness, age, or surgery—others may assist with positioning the Shel Rosh. The Halacha permits assistance by another Jew, even a woman, when the individual is still fulfilling the Misva himself. The helper merely aids in placing the Tefillin properly. What About Wigs or Toupees? A wig is considered a hatssitsa. If the wig is removable, the person must take it off before donning the Tefillin. If it cannot be removed or causes embarrassment, and it is worn tightly and habitually, some authorities may allow the Tefillin to be placed over it without a Beracha, similar to the case of a medical wrap. Summary - Tefillin Shel Rosh must touch the scalp directly—no hat or cloth may intervene. - If this is not possible due to medical or health reasons, one may place it over a covering without a Beracha. - This leniency applies to bandages, surgical dressings, or cold weather gear only when absolutely necessary. - Wigs are generally a hatssitsa, unless removal is not practical. - Whenever possible, the Tefillin should be worn in the standard way, even for a short time, to fulfill the Misva with a Beracha.
In this episode of After Reality, I dive into the explosive controversy surrounding Mel Owens, the newly announced Golden Bachelor. To set the stage, I share a clip from Mel's recent podcast interview—originally brought to light by my friend and go-to scoop expert, Reality Steve.Mel's remarks have caused quite a stir. He openly stated his preference for women aged 45 to 60 and shockingly admitted to the show's executive producer that “if there's 60 or over, I'm cutting them” (his words, not mine!). He even referred to it as an “NFL term.” If that wasn't enough, he expressed a desire to “stay away from artificial hips and wigs” and emphasized how important it was for a partner to have a fit “profile” to match his own active lifestyle.Steve joins me in the hot seat for his take on this unfolding drama. He breaks down the backlash sparked by Mel's comments and discusses how a clip from Claire and Emma's Love to See It podcast quickly went viral. Steve also highlights the tricky spot ABC is now in—casting women over 60 would contradict Mel's stated preferences, while casting younger women could undermine the entire premise of The Golden Bachelor.I also had to call in a very special guest for his perspective: my dad, Papa Robertson. Having found love again after 39 years of marriage, his insight is as personal as it gets. Papa Robertson didn't hold back, calling Mel “a bit tarnished” and questioning whether The Golden Bachelor is the right platform for him. This episode takes a hard look at Mel Owens' comments, their implications for the Golden Bachelor franchise, and whether ABC should consider recasting its lead. Join me for a juicy discussion, a fast hot take from Reality Steve, and my dad's relatable wisdom as we unpack this developing story! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
