Rob Madge grew up staging living room musicals with wigs, smoke machines, and the unwavering support of their parents and grandmother—but what started as childhood play eventually became the viral, heartfelt, and Olivier-nominated solo show My Son's a Queer (But What Can You Do?). In this episode, Rob shares how those home videos evolved into a theatrical sensation, and how a show born during lockdown has become a powerful celebration of queer joy, family, and radical acceptance—now heading to New York City Center for its limited U.S. debut. We talk about everything from queer theory and comedy as activism to being a theater kid in a small UK village and why their grandmother was the ultimate co-conspirator. Rob opens up about the emotional weight of visibility, the importance of letting kids be themselves, and the unshakable confidence that comes from being loved early and completely. Plus, they reflect on their journey from Gavroche to leading their own story—and the joy of tweaking the show for each new audience. Rob Madge is a writer and performer whose solo show My Son's a Queer (But What Can You Do?) earned an Olivier Award nomination following its West End run. They began their career as a child actor in Mary Poppins, Oliver!, and Les Misérables, and trained at Sylvia Young Theatre School before studying English Literature at Warwick University. Rob also stars as the Emcee in Cabaret on the West End, and continues to explore themes of identity, family, and theatricality through their writing and performance. Show Notes In this particular episode, Cal and Wigs interview Scott Parker about the upcoming third annual charity golf tournament benefiting local children's institutions in San Felipe. The conversation highlights the event's details, such as its date (April 9th), cost ($100 per person to participate), the $10K Hole-In-One competition, and the involvement of the San Felipe Brewing Company as the host and a key sponsor. Beyond the golf itself, the discussion emphasizes the community spirit and charitable purpose, also inviting non-golfers to the after-party and raffle at the brewery to support these important local causes. The upcoming event is the third annual charity golf tournament. It is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, April the 9th. The cost to participate is $100 per person. The proceeds from the tournament will benefit three local institutions that support children:•Movimiento Por El Autismo San Felipe:A relatively new program (around 1.5-2 years old) that promotes social inclusion and education for autistic individuals of all ages in San Felipe.•Hoy Si Comi: A local nonprofit that provides daily lunches to up to 150 low-income students who might otherwise not eat that day.•CAM School: An educational institution offering special education services to students with disabilities, aiming for their integral development and social inclusion. The San Felipe Brewing Company is the host and sponsor of the event. The tournament aims for 60 players each year, and it typically sees an 80/20 mix of local and expat golfers, many of whom regularly play on the course.A significant highlight of the tournament is the $10,000 hole-in-one prize offered on par three hole number five, sponsored by San Felipe Solar and Electric. To be eligible for the prize, men must hit the hole from at least 155 yards, and women from at least 140 yards.Even if you are not participating as a golfer, the public is welcome to spectate, particularly at hole number five. Additionally, there will be an after-tournament party at the brewery starting around 3:00 PM, which is open to everyone. This party will feature a raffle with a tremendous number of really good prizes, such as a stay at Chenowith Lodge and a tasting at Cheese Caves Negros, and around 30-35 other nice prizes. The golf tournament itself will have a shotgun start at 10:00 AM and follow a four-person scramble format, with an expected round time of about four hours. At the hole-in-one hole (number five), the brewery will have a booth set up with beer available. The deadline to signup for the golf tournament is next Friday (as of the recording)-April 4. Those interested in participating can find more information on the flyer at the brewery or can contact Scott Parker by texting or calling (707)548-3032.Last year, the event successfully raised $5,500 for the charities.

Episode Overview: In this episode, John Kitchens sits down with operations expert Joel Perso to unpack the one thing that separates thriving agents from the ones stuck spinning their wheels: execution. They reveal why most real estate entrepreneurs are great at starting but fail at finishing—and how to break that cycle with a proven system that scales. If you're serious about winning in 2025 without burning out or sacrificing profitability, this is the episode you need. Key Topics Covered: The Real Reason Agents Struggle to Execute Why most entrepreneurs are starters, not finishers—and how that stalls growth. The "solopreneur trap" and the dangers of doing everything yourself. How lack of clarity and shiny object syndrome kill momentum. The 4 Disciplines of Execution What it means to focus on the “wildly important goals” (WIGs) in your business. The power of lead measures over lag measures—and how to take control of your results. How to keep a compelling scorecard and implement real accountability that sticks. Mindset Shifts for High-Level Performance Developing a true "can-do" attitude inside your business. Why progress > perfection and how to keep momentum rolling. Operational Systems That Scale How execution is different from daily operations—and why both matter. The secret to building once and managing forever (with the right team and scorecard). Why investing in people who manage is a game-changer. Inside “Boardroom”: A Hybrid Coaching Model That Actually Delivers How John and Joel designed a system that combines clarity, strategy, accountability, and implementation. The difference between coaching and actual execution support—and why you need both. What makes their two-week cycle model so powerful for real estate entrepreneurs. Actionable Takeaways: Narrow your focus: 1–2 critical goals per quarter is the sweet spot. Track the right metrics: Emphasize what you can control, not just results. Install a cadence of accountability. Surround yourself with people who complement your genius zone—and manage what you start. Don't just invest in leads. Invest in the systems and people who help you finish what matters. Cari, with help from volunteer, Barbara Fenski, and others in the area are seeking donations of 250 bags of dog food to help the overpopulated dog rescue, especially during puppy season and the summer months when donations typically decrease. They have established multiple drop-off locations, including the San Felipe Brewing Company, downtown at Fat Boys, andthe San Felipe Dog Rescue facility itself, and encourage both racers and the general public to contribute, noting that beef, lamb, or salmon-based food is preferred due to border restrictions on chicken. Our story tonight is called Valentine's at the Inn, Part Three, and it is the finale of the three-week series of the same name, and also the much-awaited sequel to the story called The Secret Stair, released last Halloween. For those of you who actually hear the stories, and don't get me wrong, your sleeping is what's most important here, so I never mind if you don't hear a word, but for those who do, I apologize for making you wait so long to find out what was up that secret stair at the Inn. And then I made it a three-parter, and put it right at the end of the last part. Yup, guilty. I think it wants to be a book. Anyway, small disclaimer that some things actually happen in this episode, but I'd bet that I'm still going to knock you out if I haven't already. This story is also about the crosshatched top of peanut butter cookies, the sound of a vacuum cleaner running in the distance, a desk and straight-backed chair by the window, and a plan for something new in the Village of Nothing Much. We give to a different charity each week, and this week, we are giving to Wigs for Kids. Wigs For Kids is a nonprofit organization that helps children experiencing hair loss work together with a stylist to build the self-esteem and self-image they deserve. Part two of the investigation into the murder of Fred Jablin. In 2004, Fred Jablin was murdered in the driveway of his Virginia home. Part one of the investigation into the murder of Fred Jablin. On October 30, 2004, Fred Jablin was gunned down in the driveway of his Virginia home. He was a well-respected college professor and devoted father to three young children. Police zeroed in on Fred's ex-wife, Piper, who owed him nearly $7,000 in back child support. Circumstantial evidence, including an airline ticket, two wigs and gas purchased in the area, all with a credit card in the name of Piper's former boyfriend, indicated to investigators that Piper plotted to kill her husband using her sister's identity. “48 Hours" correspondent Harold Dow reports.
