Happy New Year! And we start 2025 by contemplating larger questions, such as, "What if none of this is real? What if we're all just characters in a simulation?"We talk to Melvin Vopson, Associate Professor in Physics at the University of Portsmouth. He was formerly a senior R&D scientist at Seagate Technology and spent over six years as a Higher Research Scientist at the UK National Physical Laboratory. He is also the author of Reality Reloaded: The Scientific Case for a Simulated Universe. All that and the Parting Shot.
George Noory and documentary filmmaker Melissa Tittl explore the possibility we live in a computer generated simulated universe, why the simulation would allow us to know it existed, and why it created a simulated world with so much chaos unfolding.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Moving beyond the fact that we are in a simulation, in this episode I attempt to ponder what it means if we are in a simulated universe. What are the ethics and implications of being in a simulation. Here I try to ponder all the big questions related to this subject.
"These ideas go as far back as Ancient Greece, which basically gave birth to two lines of thinking, two ideologies, materialism and idealism. And the idealist thinkers like Plato regarded reality as a projection of our minds, as something that is not real. And the only thing that is real is our consciousness and our minds and everything else around us is just constructs of our proception and projections. And that was a philosophy that was opposed to materialism, which regards the world as in a materialistic way, made up of atoms and matter and our minds are a product of these chemical reactions and the matter is coming together and forming our minds and consciousness. And everything in the world exists regardless of our consciousness or our minds and the universe is there and it's a materialistic view of the world. So these are two competing ideologies, and this is actually how we see the world today in a materialistic way. What the simulated universe philosophical idea belongs to is this idealistic view of the world. And the idealism philosophy morphs into something else in this simulation hypothesis where not only everything is a simulated construct, but our minds and our consciousness are part of it.So for example, Plato saw our minds and, if you want, our spirit as a fundamental central piece and the only real thing, and everything emerged from this. The simulated hypothesis assumes that everything, including our minds and consciousness, is part of a simulation. So it's a bit of a modern iteration of idealism which has been triggered by these recent developments in advancing technologies and computing science that began in the 1940s with the development of silicon technologies, early microchips, and digital computers creating digital memories. This highly accelerated rate of development, in terms of our technological progress, in less than a hundred years going from analog technologies means we are entering a new era of quantum computers, like generative AI, and artificial intelligence, and all these VRs are a reality today. So this development has helped in some ways to lead to the emergence of this simulated universe concept because we are now reaching a new technological level where we see that we are beginning to simulate virtual realities and they are becoming more and more immersive and sophisticated."Dr. Melvin M. Vopson is Associate Professor of Physics at the University of Portsmouth, Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, Chartered Physicist and Fellow of the Institute of Physics. You can look through the simulation theory. I don't know how to formulate or explain what's behind it, but the universe is too perfect and fine-tuned to perfection. Even a small change in anything can lead to a total disintegration of all the fundamental forces, all the equilibrium in the universe, where the matter will not be stable, nothing will be the way it is, and then there will be no life. And I'm not against the idea of evolution because I think that creation and evolution go hand in hand. They are both true, and they are not competing against each other. "With the speed and the precision of the AI, make no mistake, we are becoming creators of something that is far more advanced than humans. Is this a bad thing? I see it as a very bad thing, but I also see it as a natural evolution. We are becoming creators and in our evolution process, we are evolving ourselves to something much more advanced. It's what the world, what the universe, what nature wants us to become: stronger so we reach our limit in terms of biological capacity. So this is the fascinating thing, the creation and evolution go hand in hand. It's a circle that feeds into each other."Dr. Melvin M. Is the universe a simulation? If so, is there someone twisting the dials or is the universe a big computer running itself, a program that includes things like the coati and those sneakers with wheels in them? It's a big question (the biggest, really), and in this episode we dig into it with Dr. Melvin Vopson. Melvin is an Associate Professor of Physics at the UK's University of Portsmouth, and he's made news for his work studying the nature of information and entropy. His conclusion? The way things work — from electrons on up to stars — looks suspiciously like how a computer might run things. It's a fascinating and controversial idea. Is information the base layer of the universe? And does this mean there's a planet full of popular, well-known fantasy characters out there somewhere? We expel a little heat energy into the void to figure out how real Melvin Vopson's theories might be. (And how real we ourselves might be.) We are now 27 days into the war between Israel and Hamas with the conflict showing no sign of winding down. We get the latest from Michael Link, Professor from the Faculty of Law at Western University. Family breakups and breakdowns can be heart breaking and mentally taxing. We get some advice to help you navigate complex family dynamics, from Karen Gallagher-Burt, Social Worker and Mental Health Advocate. Finally, are we living in the real world? Is this reality or are we living in a simulated universe? We speak with Melvin Vopson, Professor of Physics from the “University of Portsmouth” in the UK, to hear details on his new theory that we are all living in a Computer Simulation.
Paramahansa Yogananda's Autobiography of a Yogi was one of the most impactful spiritual books of the 20th century and has travelled around the world, inspiring millions to walk the spiritual path. But what are 21st-century spiritual aspirants, steeped in technology and science, to think of these classic tales of gurus, swamis, and miracles in the Himalayas? Do these tales have relevance today? In Wisdom of a Yogi, best-selling author, entrepreneur, and venture capitalist Rizwan Virk brings out the lessons from Yogananda's classic and reinterprets them for the modern age. In 14 unforgettable lessons, interweaving stories from the autobiography with tales of college professors, students, entrepreneurs, and modern seekers, Virk brings the ancient lessons of karma, yoga, meditation, and siddhas into the modern age of YouTube, video games, mobile phones, and social media. Whether you have never read or listened to the autobiography, or have experienced it multiple times, Wisdom of a Yogi will help enhance your spiritual practice in today's increasingly complex, cluttered, and connected world. What does it mean to live in a simulation? Is it a simulated universe that lives on the silicone chips of an alien computer (or a future computer invented by humanity itself)? Is it a simulated universe that runs on the karmic seeds described in ancient Hindu and Buddhist texts? Or are we a Blotzman Brain floating through the ether long after the heat-death of the universe? I think those are all far-fetched ideas in their own ways, but one undeniable truth is that the neurology of our brains absolutely create unique simulations that we live in all of their owns. On this classic ID the Future, Robert J. Marks interviews Roger Olsen, co-author of the groundbreaking book The Mystery of Life's Origin. In the work's epilogue the authors suggested that a designing intelligence stands as the best explanation for the origin of life. And with a revised and greatly expanded new edition of the book now available, Olsen says that more than thirty-five years of additional research from the origin-of-life community have left their conclusions stronger than ever. Olsen is now an environmental scientist, and in a latter part of the interview, he tells a hair-raising story about his work abroad trying to protect families and communities from the ravages of environmental pollution. I really really really enjoyed speaking with Rizwan Virk the amazing writer of The Simulation Hypothesis and The Simulated Multiverse Do multiple versions of ourselves exist in parallel universes living out their lives in different timelines? In this follow up to his bestseller, The Simulation Hypothesis, MIT Computer Scientist and Silicon Valley Game Pioneer Rizwan Virk explores these topics from a new lens: that of simulation theory. If we are living in a simulated universe, composed of information that is rendered around us, then many of the complexities and baffling characteristics of our reality start to make more sense. In particular the two most popular interpretations of quantum mechanics, the Copenhagen Interpretation and the Many Worlds interpretation, which are thought to be mutually exclusive, can be unified in an information based framework. Quantum computing lets us simulate complex phenomena in parallel, allowing the simulation to explore many realities at once to find the most "optimum" path forward. Could this explain not only the enigmatic Mandela Effect but provide us with a new understanding of time and space? Bringing his unique trademark style of combining video games, computer science, quantum physics and computing with lots of philosophy and science fiction, Virk gives us a new way to think about not just our universe, but all possible timelines in the multiverse! Rizwan (“Riz”) Virk is a successful entrepreneur, investor, futurist, bestselling author, video game industry pioneer, and indie film producer. Riz received a B.S. in Computer Science from MIT, and a M.S. in Management from Stanford's GSB. He is currently working on a PhD at ASU's College of Global Futures, researching metaverse and virtual worlds. Riz has produced many indie films (imdb link), including Thrive, Sirius, Knights of Badassdom, starring Peter Dinklage and Summer Glau, The CW's The Outpost, as well as adaptations of the works of Philip K. Dick and Ursula K. Le Guin.Riz's books include Startup Myths & Models, The Simulation Hypothesis, Zen Entrepreneurship, and Treasure Hunt: Follow Your Inner Clues to Find True Success, and The Simulated Multiverse. The boys drink and review another Pastryarchy offering from DuClaw, Irish Cream Dessert Stout, then wonder whether we're living in a simulation, and whether it matters. From Descartes's skepticism to Nick Bostrom's famous paper, P&C review some of the top arguments for why our world might not be what we think it is. If simulated humans can have first-person experience, we are almost certainly in a simulation. Or are we? There are interesting arguments both ways. Then the boys discuss how the simulation question relates to the God question. Does the possibility that we are in a simulated universe shed any light on God's existence?
On this week's show we discuss the popular and well received Simulation Theory. Do the best and brightest truly believe we're sims living in some futuristic computer our great great great great grandkids made? We explore the various perspectives and possibilities which range from the subtle to the fantastic. In the extended show we discuss the Qabbalistic approach to simulation theory and some truly entertaining ways to use AI and random number generators to get big results in your magick practice. Wednesday - 1/26/22 - Ghosts and a Simulated UniverseWhat if everything around you isn't real? Imagine for a second that the planet we live on, the solar system, our galaxy, and eventually the entire universe we see as infinite is no more than a simulation? What we perceive as “ghosts” could be small pieces of evidence that suggest the universe we live in is simulated.Join us LIVE weeknights at 7p CT/8p ET on YouTube, Facebook, OpsLens, Mojo 5-0 Radio, iHeartRadio, and Spreaker.com.###Follow Us:https://abnormalrealities.comhttps://twitter.com/abnormalshowhttps://instagram.com/abnormalrealitieshttps://facebook.com/abnormalrealitiesSupport our Show:https://www.abnormalrealities.com/shophttps://www.abnormalrealities.com/donateSponsers:Romika Designs: http://romikadesigns.comInsane Custom Tumblers: http://insanecustomblers.com#UFO #Paranormal #UAP #SpiritBox #GhostVoices #AbnormalRealities #RonPhillips #RocciStucci #Mojo50 #OpsLens #Bigfoot #Conspiracy #ConspiracyTheories #WhatTheHellIsThat
I had the honor and privilege to be able to interview Dr. Joseph Farrell once again in person! This audio version was extracted from the in person face to face video. It is just one genre of discussion in several genres that we try to unravel. Dr. Farrell brilliantly explains the dangers with artificial intelligence and lays out the possible blueprint on how the elitist of this world are trying to one day infuse human consciousness into the machines. He explains these dangers must be addressed with a keen eye if we do not one day wish to end up in a terminator like AI futuristic society. A few other talking points within this interview are, will AI one day turn on us, Elon Musk involvement with artificial intelligence, the cold war race to perfecting artificial intelligence, will AI be used malevolent agendas, what role does cern the large hadron collider have in artificial intelligence, do we live in a simulated universe. Thats just a few of the jaw dropping topics within this video! This is definitely one mind blowing interview that you must watch! Please enjoy and drop them comments below!
Richard Estep discusses the plethora of books he's written and his work as a paranormal investigator. Topics include ghosts and spirits around the holidays, the simulated universe, reincarnation, hauntings of the Stanley Hotel, and more!
How many of you know that this pandemic plays right into the hands of the Government and their eternal lust for more power and control over every aspect of your life? Over in Europe, they are using both climate and Covid to push the 'build back better' agenda to remake the world to their liking. Coming up on today's broadcast, we're talking about the funny reason the WHO skipped some letters before 'Omichron,' The metaverse, Jeffrey Epstein, the UK royal family, and much more.
Many people believe we're living in a simulated universe. And, to the many intelligent people at the highest peaks of science this Simulation Theory is becoming much more mainstream. Which obviously may come as a surprise. One of the main people who have driven the Simulation Theory to the masses happens to be Elon Musk, who making many statements on the matter of Nested Simulations makes the point that if simulations are possible, which we obviously see around us already as computers grow in processing power and with the rise of Virtual Reality, then the chances of us being in the Base Layer Simulation (which is were all simulations would span from) is one in billions. Scary right? On this episode Hazz & Jordan touch on the many facets of the Simulation Theory and how it may connect to so many other things around us. Multiverses, Quarks, Consciousness... this episode takes a nice little wander through many of them. Is the world around us an illusion, and if so, what's the purpose of it? Is there evidence that our reality is not actually reality?

The boys are joined by very special guest Andrew (Digital Frustrations and Neon Glow Boys). Eric tries to have a conversation about the Big Bang Theory, no not the show! But everyone else seems hell bent on derailing the show. Security breaches, Twitter trends and Mike Huckabee round out this show, just wait for the end when we almost physically force Boggs to play a song.
SPECIAL GUEST Dr. Marilyn Dunny (Susan Pavlovsky) joins us in the studio to explore the simulated universe theory and talk about her award winning "Man or Myth!?" book series! Also, a follow up on our meat platter sweepstakes, Squeve (Greg Riestenberg) finds a Squirrel, reality breaks down, we chose the toilet flush or amoeba pills, and Colin learns the truth.
