Alexander Mercouris, host of "The Alexander Mercouris Show" on YouTube, joins us to discuss Belarus. A major controversy is growing over the decision of Belarus to detain a passenger plane and arrest Roman Protasevich, a man who has extensive ties with regime change forces in Washington, DC. NATO leaders are arguing that he is a dissident journalist while still ignoring their persecution of Julian Assange. Ted Rall, political cartoonist and syndicated columnist, joins us to discuss the latest incidents of unhinged Russiaphobia on Capitol Hill. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) has taken a page from Adam Schiff's playbook as he attacks President Biden for being a puppet of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Cruz is angry because Biden seems to be backing away from Nord Stream 2 sanctions.Mark Sleboda, Moscow-based international relations security analyst, joins us to discuss Russia and China. Some US analysts are arguing that the US is looking for an effective method to "peel back" Russia from their close relationship with China. Also, Russia and China are planning to move forward with a series of meetings to plan out their strategic alliance.Scott Ritter, former UN weapon inspector in Iraq, joins us to discuss Iran. Mixed signals are coming from the participants of the meetings over the Iran nuclear agreement. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is contending that he does not see signs that Iran is willing to take the steps necessary to lure the US back into the deal. Meanwhile, Iran is arguing that there is a deal within reach, but the US has to make the decisions necessary to make it happen. Laith Marouf, broadcaster and journalist based in Beirut, Lebanon, joins us to discuss Syria. There are reports that the US may cease looting the oil from Syria, as the Biden team has failed to renew a contract for the US company involved in extracting the oil. Also, Syrian officials are complaining that the US is robbing the war-torn nation like a group of pirates. Robert Fantina, journalist and Palestine activist, joins us to discuss Israel. Miko has traveled to Israel, and he gives us a view of the situation from on the ground. Also, he discusses his latest MintPress news article, "The Hamas are Coming: A View of the Violence from Inside Israel.Dr. Linwood Tauheed, associate professor of economics at the University of Missouri- Kansas City, joins us to discuss President Biden's proposed infrastructure plan. In what many are calling an unforced error, the Biden team has announced that they are cutting the proposed infrastructure plan spending by one-third to ostensibly attract Republican support. As could easily be predicted, the GOP has summarily rejected the idea, and seems set to unanimously oppose the entire project.Chris Garaffa, web developer and technologist, joins us to discuss Facebook's latest plan. Facebook is designing an online platform for Instagram that specifically targets children under the age of 13. The social media giant has identified "youth work" as their top priority, and many are raising ethical questions about this program.

Dozens of Democrats have moved to investigate and perhaps subsequently remove a number of GOP members from Congress.Caleb Maupin, journalist and political analyst, joins us to discuss a move by House Democrats to investigate and perhaps remove a number of GOP legislators from Congress. Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO) has co-sponsored a resolution that would investigate House Republicans who sought to overturn the results of the presidential election ahead of last week's pro-Trump protest that ended in violence at the US Capitol. The freshman congresswoman argued in a statement that those found to have supported overturning the election should be removed from Congress and held accountable "for their role in this insurrection." The opposition argues that the members were legally voted in by their constituents and, absent any criminal convictions, should be allowed to serve. Ajamu Baraka, former US vice-presidential candidate for the Green Party, joins us to discuss the flurry of foreign policy moves by the outgoing Trump administration. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is taking actions against Iran and Cuba that seem designed to hamstring the incoming Biden administration's ability to maneuver after US President Donald Trump exits the world stage. Some believe that the moves against Iran are coordinated with Israel and anti-Iranian Gulf states who are concerned about the US returning to the Iran nuclear deal. However, the actions against Cuba seem to be more ideological and part of a broader war against the anti-imperialist bloc forming in Latin America.Medea Benjamin, co-founder of the antiwar organization Code Pink, returns to The Critical Hour to discuss Victoria Nuland, who has been nominated by US President-elect Joe Biden for under secretary of state for political affairs. A group of 25 organizations including Code Pink has penned a letter opposing the nomination of the infamous anti-Russia war hawk. They argue that Nuland "played a key role in facilitating a coup in Ukraine that created a civil war costing 10,000 lives and displacing over a million people" and that it would be extremely dangerous to include her in the US foreign policy decision-making process. They close their letter by stating, "Some US military officials say this demonizing of Russia is all about weapons profits and bureaucratic power, no more fact-based than the Steele Dossier that was given to the FBI by Victoria Nuland."Author and activist Miko Peled joins us to talk about Israel's COVID-19 vaccine program, which has had remarkable success for free Israelis but has not provided inoculations to Palestinians in the West Bank or the Gaza Strip. Palestinian rights activists argue that this is a blatant example of apartheid policies, but Israeli officials counter that "these Palestinians don't fall under their jurisdiction under the terms of the Oslo accords and that it is the job of the Palestinian Authority to procure and distribute vaccines in the occupied territories," the Washington Post reported Tuesday.Ted Rall, political cartoonist and syndicated columnist, joins us to discuss the worldwide response to Trump's removal from Twitter. The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has released a statement warning of the "unchecked power" of tech companies, and German Chancellor Angela Merkel finds the Trump Twitter ban "problematic," according to a spokesperson. Noted libertarian Ron Paul has also written an article in which he argues that the latest social media purge is an example of the War on Terror coming home.Nicholas Ayala, editor at the Anticonquista media collective, joins us to discuss Latin America's response to the events at the US Capitol last week. A recent article in the Orinoco Tribune is headlined "The United States Suffers the Same Thing that it has Generated in other Countries with its Policies of Aggression." The article points out that Venezuela recently seated a new National Assembly after a peaceful and successful election in which over 100 parties participated, as the US political system lies in obvious ruins. James Carey, editor and co-owner of Geopolitics Alert, joins us to discuss Afghanistan. The Trump administration continues to reduce troop numbers in the Central Asian country, despite the 2021 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) including an amendment that seeks to block planned troop drawdowns. The US-Taliban peace deal signed in February 2020 paved the way for all US troops to leave Afghanistan by spring 2021, but it's not clear if Biden will follow through with the plan.Dr. Linwood Tauheed, associate professor of economics at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, joins us to discuss an interesting article in Asia Times which argues that China is now "well on track to challenge the US as the world's financial center" while still serving as the leader in manufacturing. It also says that the US losing 140,000 jobs in December 2020 was the "clearest sign yet" that the American economy is in the throes of another COVID-related crash.

Hair salons, tattoo parlors, retailers andrestaurants reopened as governors began easing restrictions in somesectors in an effort to begin to repair the battered economy. Howrisky is this, and will the public respond?According to Politico, "Tens of millions of pounds of American-grownproduce is rotting in fields as food banks across the country scrambleto meet a massive surge in demand, a two-pronged disaster that hasdeprived farmers of billions of dollars in revenue while millions ofnewly jobless Americans struggle to feed their families." There's beenan ongoing discussion in this country since its founding: what is therole of government? Conservatives love to advocate for smallergovernment, less government. Is this is an example of what happens ina country when government fails?A Saturday headline in The Grayzone reads: "US elites use Russiagateplaybook to blame China and promote hostility." The article states:"The bipartisan US establishment has coalesced around increasedhostility to China in response to the coronavirus pandemic. China hasfaced numerous allegations including that it covered up the pandemicat the world's expense, developed the virus in a lab, and has spreaddisinformation." In the midst of a global pandemic, why has Chinabecome the new bogeyman, and what are the methods being used toperpetuate this narrative? There's a great piece in CounterPunch, entitled “Capitalism Can't BeRepaired, Coronavirus Shows Its Huge Weaknesses,” wherein the authorwrites, “Consider this absurdity: The US government's policy in theface of the current capitalist crash is to 'return the economy to thepre-coronavirus normal.' What? In that 'normal' system, privatecapitalists maximized profits by not producing the tests, masks, ventilators, beds, etc., needed when coronavirus hit. ... Incapitalism, a small minority — employers — makes all the key decisions(what, how, where to produce and how to use the proceeds) governingproduction and distribution of most goods and services. The majority —employees and their families — must live with the results ofemployers' decisions but are excluded from making them." I thought themarket — or as Adam Smith termed it, the "invisible hand" — thatpeople acting in their own self-interest, will eventually help thebest interests of the greater public good. China wins trade deal round, but leaks capital

Kia ora,and welcome to Monday's Economy Watch where we follow the economic events and trends that affect New Zealand.I'm David Chaston and this is the International edition from Interest.co.nz.Today we lead with news of a sharp run-up in bond yields. But first, China and the US seem to have agreed a mini trade deal, one where the US suspends its next tariffs and China buys some rural products from farmers in Trump's heartland electoral states. Some US analysts say "China emerges with wins" from the deal.As best anyone can tell at this stage, it looks like China will buy about US$50 bln of farm goods, and keep on 'opening up' its finance sector, both things China either offered two years ago or is doing anyway. Given that the US merchandise trade deficit with China hit more than US$440 bln in the year to August, the ag purchases represent about a tenth of the US's perceived problem.Meanwhile, three American financial regulators have issued a warning to firms with digital currency assets, that they have an obligation to follow securities laws on AML/CFT, including 'know-your-customer', and requiring disclosure of suspicious activity.Markets were higher on Friday. No one big thing appears to have turned on the optimism tap but markets closed before the mini-trade deal became apparent and they may have gotten wind of that.In the US, a closely watched consumer sentiment index rose strongly in in early October as consumers anticipated larger income gains and lower inflation during the year ahead. The Federal Reserve said it would begin significant extra buying of Treasury bills to boost its balance sheet and avoid a recurrence of the unexpected strains experienced in money markets last month. It purchased +NZ$130 bln in end-of-week trade. They just don't want you to call it QE or money printing. But the bald fact is, investors don't want the stuff in sufficient quantities and without the Fed demand the banking system wobbles of the past few weeks will get worse. The Fed 'put' in action, and markets are happy.Canada has reported a strong labour market in September. Their unemployment rate fell unexpectedly to 5.5%. Employment rose by +54,000 in September, driven by strong gains in full-time work. Canada's participation rate is much higher than their southern neighbour. [Advert]Exchange-Traded Funds are a relatively easy and inexpensive way to diversify a portfolio without having to have the expertise required to pick individual shares. Hatch offers more than 500 ETFs and the most popular ones include Vanguard’s S&P 500 and The US Total Stock Market Index. Visit www.hatch.as/investing to learn more about how you can easily diversify your portfolio. In China, the pace of capital flight has apparently picked up to record levels. This hidden flight is of unrecorded transactions to evade tight capital controls. Analysing the “net errors & omissions” in China’s balance of payments, you can get a good indication of concealed capital flight and it rose to a record high of NZ$200 bln in the first six months of this year. The last time these pressures were high was in 2015 and 2016 and back then, in the first six month of those years, this type of concealed flight was at half current levels. In Australia, political pressure is rising to force their banks to pass on the RBA's policy rate cuts in full to mortgage borrowers. Banks have held back about a third of those cuts in recent times to protect their term deposit savers and their margins because wholesale money rates haven't fallen as fully as the official policy rate. If the political pressure wins, bank savers will likely be nearly wiped out (Aussie TDs currently pay less than 1.5%) and bank funding could shift to a wholesale-only model. The short-term political points-scoring seems to be more important to Canberra than the long-term structure of their banking industry. The UST 10yr yield has slipped back after a strong run up over the weekend. It is now at 1.73% after touching 1.77% earlier. Gold is up +US$5 overnight to US$1,489/oz from where we left it on Saturday but that is a -US$16 drop in a week.US oil prices are up sharply and by more than +US$1, now just under US$55/bbl. The Brent benchmark is just on US$60.50. The Kiwi dollar is firm against the greenback today, now at 63.4 USc and actually this is its highest level in more than three weeks. On the cross rates we are still at 93.2 AUc. Against the euro we are still at 57.4 euro cents. Both these are similar to this time last week. That puts the TWI-5 at just on 68.7.You can find links to the articles mentioned today in our show notes.Get more news affecting the economy in New Zealand from interest.co.nz and subscribe to receive this podcast in your favourite podcast app - we're on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify or subscribe on our website.Tell your friends and leave us a review - we welcome feedback from listeners.

Three years ago, Jeff’s wife was diagnosed with an aggressive form of bladder cancer. She was told her life would change forever: surgery, chemo, radiation, a life without an essential organ. They decided not to take the doctor’s word for it, and travelled to Germany to treat the cancer naturally. Juicing, plant-based meals, hypothermia (targeted heat therapy), oxygen therapy, intravenous vitamins, minerals and amino acids, colonics—it was like a spa, with a difference. Within 30 days, she was completely cancer free. She’s not an isolated case. Natural cancer therapies have an 80 to 90% success rate. And yet, when Jeff went to the newspapers to share this story and inspire hope, he was turned down time after time. Western medicine is a business, and it can’t profit from a natural cure for cancer. The system is rigged to support big pharma: in the US, clinical trials are only performed on drugs, alternative therapies are never tested. The only cancer treatments to get any major media airtime are pharmaceutical options. Jeff didn’t let that stop him, he made the film Cancer Can Be Killed to share the truth about healing cancer. It will also be shown at the Sonoma International Film Festival in March. And the truth is that curing cancer is a journey. It’s not as simple as just eating this food or taking this supplement. Cancer is a manifestation of things being out of balance—that could be your diet, your emotions, past trauma, not standing up for yourself, constant self-criticism, unexpressed anger. Healing must involve mind, body and spirit. Natural Ways to Kill Cancer Hyperthermia: cancer cells can’t survive above 105 degrees. By simply heating the area where the tumor is, you can kill the cancer cells. This treatment has a 90% success rate. Some US providers will do it, you can also go to Mexico or Germany to have the treatment. Remove toxicity from your life: unresolved conflict and unaddressed emotional issues block your body from detoxing, which creates the perfect environment for cancer. Look at where your life is out of balance—food, relationships, career, self-criticism, pent-up emotions—and take time to heal. Go on a plant-based diet: create an alkaline environment in your body by filling your plate with plenty of vegetables, beans, fruits, probiotics, and fermented foods. Clean up your diet: Get off sugar, red meat, processed foods and anything fizzy. Find out what’s going on: If you know what’s going on in your body, you can treat it. RGCC testing will show you which substances work with your immune system to kill your cancer cells. Take care of your teeth: One of the major causes of cancer is root canals. They cut off the tooth’s blood and nerve supplies, and eventually it becomes gangrenous and infected. Because the immune system is focused on the tooth, the rest of the body gets neglected, and cancer can develop. It’s best to take the tooth out. Natural therapies: Coffee enemas, infrared saunas.
