From the age of 45 Keith Bateman's running times improved dramatically, culminating in a host of State, National and World age-group records. The records that he set in the 55-age-group were faster than the records he set in the 45-age-group! At the time of writing, he has broken, and still holds, 38 age-group State Records, 15 Australian age-group records and five 55-age-group World Records: 1500m (4:12.35), 1 mile (4:35.04), 3000m (8:56.80), 5000m (15:29.7) and 10000m (31:51.86). Keith's technique-change lessons combine with Heidi's Strengthening and Rehabilitation programs to form the core of this book. Keith also provides a chapter for coaches who want to introduce technique change for their runners. Listen to this episode of The MOVEMENT Movement with Keith Bateman about how to grow older, not slower. Here are some of the beneficial topics covered on this week's show: - How balanced landing aligned vertically can utilize the body's spring effect for more efficient running. - Why body movement and muscle development are crucial for efficient running and injury prevention. - How foot pressure and body position play a significant role in achieving a balanced landing while running. - Why technique change can lead to substantial improvement in running times and overall performance. - How community-building is essential to challenge conventional footwear practies and promote natural movement. Benson spent eight weeks on the UK Singles Chart in 1975 with his own composition, "Don't Throw It All Away". The single, released on the State Records label (State Records STAT10), reached No. 20 on the chart,[2] leading to an appearance on BBC Television's Top of the Pops. The song had originally been recorded by the Shadows, and they had performed it in the 1975 A Song for Europe contest, where it finished fourth of six entries. The song was covered in the United States by the Delfonics in 1978. There are also a number of reggae versions that include a dancehall style cut by Barrington Levy. Olivia Newton-John recorded a version of the track, including it on her 1976 album Come On Over.Benson had further attempts at winning the UK ticket to the Eurovision Song Contest, reaching the UK finals in 1977 with "After All This Time", performed by Wesley, Park and Smith, finishing fifth of 12; in 1981 with "All Cried Out", which he performed himself to place fourth of 8, and was later released on the WEA label; and in 1993 with "It's Just a Matter of Time" performed by Sonia, finishing last of eight entries. Benson tried again in 1998 with Alan Glass on the song "Give It Up" performed by Lisa Millet which finished eighth of the eight songs in the preliminary radio heat.In 1970, Benson's composition "Can't Afford to Lose", recorded by Jon Lukas, made it to the top 40 charts in the UK and some other European territories. It also occupied the top place in the pop charts in Lebanon for a full month, holding back the Beatles' "The Long and Winding Road" from reaching the No. 1 spot.[3] Benson's song "Let Her In" was recorded by John Travolta which became a hit in 1976. Several other songs originally written and recorded by Benson were also recorded by Travolta, such as "Can't Let You Go" and "Whenever I'm Away from You", as well as by his brother, Joey Travolta ("Something's Up (Love Me Like the First Time)"). Another of Benson's compositions, "Close to You", was recorded by Maxi Priest.[4] In 1976, he composed and sang "You", but it did not reach the UK charts.

This 2-part episode is legendary to say the least. Mike Blackwood isn't a name that resonates with many people new to the sport outside of Texas, but like it or not, he's pioneered the notion of conservation on a national level. Aside from being one of the founding members of GCCA (Gulf Coast Conservation Association) which removed gill nets out of TX waters, then other states, which ultimately transformed into CCA, Mr. Blackwood owned the TX Speckled Trout State record for 21 years. In these episodes, he shares not only that incredible catch, but what he had to endure to ensure we had a fishery for the future. Bottom line, anglers from every state owe this man a huge debt of gratitude and we're fortunate that he sat down to share his life's work. Enjoy!
In this segment with the State Records Office, we speak to Carolyn Atkinson about true crime in the Archives. The State Records Office has many records from the police, prisons, courts and the crown law department which document criminal activity in WA from the beginning of British settlement. One of the stories Carolyn discusses is the Pitman and Walsh case. Alexander Pitman and John Walsh were Gold Squad detectives who were shot and murdered in the mid-afternoon of April 1926. They had ridden their bikes out of Kalgoorlie and disappeared. On 12th May, the remains of the two detectives, burnt and chopped up, were found down a disused mine, called Miller’s Find, 5km west of Kalgoorlie. Police had been alerted after two men riding a sulky had noticed swarms of flies and a dreadful smell emanating from the shaft. The records show that the detectives were killed elsewhere and the remains brought to Miller’s Find, so the search began in earnest for the murder site. In the month of July, California experienced its worst surge in COVID-19 cases and deaths leading Gov. Newsom to impose a re-shutdown of businesses in more than 30 counties. As of today, California leads the nation with over 500,000 confirmed cases. But at his daily presser Monday, Newsom indicated that the state’s situation is improving with both new COVID-19 cases and coronavirus-related hospitalizations down in the last week. He also emphasized the virus’s disproportionate impact on the state’s Latino and Central Valley populations and reaffirmed his commitment to allocating state and federal resources to those communities where cases continue to grow. We'll talk about the steps California's taking to contain the pandemic, address testing backlogs and support communities disproportionately harmed by the virus.

Mike Bramlett has seen a lot of fish in his days caught by somebody else. That is because he is the main person in charge of helping certify state record fish, making sure trophy fish are recognized through our TARP program, and helping determine the age of bass and other fish that are caught—with really good gear—by TWRA staff. Mike will discuss how to get a potential state record fish certified, talk about some of the great state and WORLD record fish Tennessee has (Do you know the world record walleye comes from Tennessee?), and let you know the best way to determine the age of fish. Hint: it’s not by looking at their teeth. Mike will also discuss this year’s Free Fishing Day and the dozens of catfish-filled events scheduled for kids. And you adults, check out those events, because after the kids leave most of the areas that were stocked with catfish will be open for you to fish. Also, we think you can find the TARP information very interesting to your fishing pursuits and you might want to earn a few certificates and patches.
