Melany del Carpio is a first-generation, first-born Peruvian-American who is deeply committed to empowering women of color to thrive and be unapologetically themselves in the face of societal and capitalist pressures. With eight years of experience in higher education, she made a pivotal career transition into the tech industry in 2022. Throughout her career journey, Melany has faced significant challenges, including reaching a breaking point that required her to take medical leave and reclaim her power from a toxic work environment. This transformative experience has become the foundation of her passion: supporting others in achieving success while maintaining their well-being, free from the weight of overwork and unrealistic expectations. Melany is dedicated to helping others set boundaries, reclaim their rest, and define success on their own terms, empowering them to become who they are meant to be without compromise. In this week's episode, Melany shares exactly why rest is resistance. We all have these overwhelming expectations put on us, and it feels like the end of the world if we don't meet them. Our families immigrated here for a better life, and we don't want to even think of the possibility of letting them down. But Melany's story reminds us that while their journey was a brave one, it is brave for us to live our own lives on our own terms, too. And if that means letting go of their dreams for us and getting the rest our body needs, so be it. While a relatively new term, ageism is a method of discrimination based on age - typically toward older people, though it can also be directed toward younger people as well. It's a way of enforcing harmful stereotypes - too old to be effective, interesting, too young to have sufficient knowledge or understanding. In this episode, Shantelle and Cristina discuss how ageism can be internalised and used to hinder yourself, without you necessarily even being aware of it. It's a quiet whisper telling you not to wear that, it's too late to try, do or be that. They get to the bottom of where they think it comes from and how to fight it within yourself, and the beauty that can come with successfully removing it from your thoughts. Cristina Carpio is an entrepreneur, media personality, and philanthropist with over two decades of experience across media, hospitality, and the luxury lifestyle sector. A former host of CTV Morning Live, she has led marketing for a luxury auto group, served as editor-in-chief of a global lifestyle publication, and helped launch acclaimed restaurants in Toronto, including a Michelin-starred venue in 2024. She has hosted a travel series on Amazon Prime and Roku, collaborating with top international hospitality brands. Cristina is a recognized voice at major Canadian events such as the RC Show and SIAL Canada. Her work in community leadership and advocacy for diversity and inclusion has earned national recognition, including the RBC Top 50 Canadian Immigrant Award, the Queen's Jubilee Pin, and the Hero of Business Award. As always, support this independent podcast by making sure you:FOLLOW - LIKE - COMMENT - SHARE!CONNECT WITH SHANTELLEINSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/shantellebisson/?hl=enWEBSITE: https://shantellebisson.com/YOUTUBE: https://www.youtube.com/@withoutlosingyourcoolNEWSLETTER: https://shantellebisson.com/pages/boo...BUNDLES: https://shantellebisson.com/collectionsCONNECT WITH CRISTINAhttps://evolvemagazine.ca/founder/https://www.instagram.com/cristina.carpio01/?hl=en

A conversation with the former magistrate.
Born in Venezuela but raised in New York, where he currently lives, Martin Del Carpio is an artist marked by experimentation, the search of new concepts, sounds and melodies, by a fascination with lyrics and the journey that music takes us on. His evolution as an artist is based on what he calls “street knowledge”, a hands-on personal experience characterized by uniqueness and a somewhat dark voice that Martin has dedicated his life to finding. His work shows a personal conflict between outside forces that point him towards mainstream creation and the need to express something intimate, to be honest no matter what the cost and regardless of what comes out. He defines himself as an underground music artist more than a musician, as his work relies more on ideas and inspiration than technique. In the future, he plans to continue experimenting with sound and visuals, taking us on a journey to places still unexplored. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/experimentalfilmpodcast/support

Why is Escoda Shoal important to the Philippines?
A comprehensive discussion with the former Supreme Court magistrate.
It's not often someone builds something so high-functioning that it's worthy of an entire book, but the guests on this episode accomplished exactly that.Hillary Carpio and Travis Henry from Snowflake, the cloud data platform, are the authors of Busting Silos, which details how Snowflake unites sales and marketing to win its best customers. Uniting Sales and Marketing is a claim made by many, accomplished by few. But these two might've pulled it off.In our conversation, they teach me the right and wrong questions to be asking when it comes to attribution, we talk about how Snowflake is set up to empower people to make decisions, and how their ABM/SDR partnership 2-4x'd the meeting rate at the company.Like this episode? The former Supreme Court justice is calling for building up the nation's self-defense force and forging closer military ties with regional neighbors. Carpio warns that another Trump presidency in the US could introduce changes in global alliances unfavorable to the Philippines. “If you don't fortify your defenses, you will be erased from the map. That has happened to many countries. And it could happen to us.” With sea level rise, Carpio argues, the Philippines' “exclusive economic zone” will only get larger. “So all we have to do is hang on to our claim. Never, never give up our claim because everything will be underwater in that area by the end of the century.” CREDITS: Producer: Ivy Andrada-Bautista Researcher: Jenica Villanueva Editor: Jayr Magtoto
