The original concepts and themes for the "Kenobi" tv series came from writer Stuart Beattie, who actually had written the script for a three part movie series. In his original scripts, there are many similar characters to the ones we know from the tv series, however there are some that never made it to the screen (ahem, Cody!!). Were these wise choices? Would "what might have been" been better? We discuss all this and more in this week's episode. Send us a textThe DetBlock crew might have started off talking a little bit about sports [hey, we love our sports!], but then they first dive in to talking a bit about Star Wars video games.  News came out that Outlaws is underperforming, but there's still plenty of time for that to turn around.  However, this could also just be a continuation of the times for the franchise and the, what some say, misses Disney and Lucasfilm have made recently.  Either way, there are still plenty of fun Star Wars video games out there, and Bogie and Mike talk through a few of those. They then go into an interview that was recently aired where Star Wars Theory sits down with Stuart Beattie and they talk about Stuart's plan and story line for the original content that was going to be released about Obi-Wan Kenobi.  Originally, instead of a show, Kenobi was going to be brought to the big screen with his own trilogy and Mr. Beattie wrote the script for all 3 movies.  With everything going on in the early 2020's, this ended up getting scrubbed, changed up quite a bit, and turned into a show.  If you haven't already, go listen to this interview.  The original plan for Beattie's trilogy is absolutely AMAZING and it's a shame we never got it; only elements of it in the #Kenobi show. They then go into discussing some defining actors that just perfectly fit their character, inside and outside of Star Wars.  From Heath Ledger as the Joker, William Shatner as Captain Kirk, Hayden Christianson as Anakin Skywalker / Darth Vader, or Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll, some actors just perfectly hit their mark.  Unfortunately, for some of them, we lose them as soon as they bring those characters to life. Finally, the Crew close with talking about Bogie's initial dive into the animated show #CloneWars.  We are super excited to follow along with him as he lives through this for the first time.  He's going to LOVE it!Social Media Handles:Twitter: @DetBlockAA23PodTikTok: @detblockaa23Instagram: detention_block_aa_23FB Group: Detention Block AA-23: A Star Wars PodcastYouTube: Detention Block AA-23: A Star Wars PodcastSponsors:Under Pressure #BrewingMirror Twin BrewingGolden Valley, MNSource: Comics & GamesRoseville, MNStar Wars ComicsStar Wars Games: X-Wing & Armada strategy games; Star Wars: Legion strategy gameTwin Cities Geek - Magazine & Online CommunityMy Star Wars Life - FB Group (Join Now!)

The film is a big budget action film that Joe prefers, while Brenna likes the direction and relationship between the kids in the TV series, even if both adaptations lean into uncomfortable racism in their depiction of the invading force. Justin Trevor Winters… yes, he goes by all three of his names which seems a little extravagant… is the Co-Founder & CEO of Verified Labs, an award-winning team of Web3 producers, artists, and architects building the biggest and most unforgettable experiences in the Metaverse. He began his career in the entertainment industry representing writers and directors including Stuart Beattie, writer and creator of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise and Kathryn Bigelow, the first female director to win an Academy Award. What Justin didn't realize is that when you're surrounded by talent, that doesn't necessarily mean you have talent, but he decided to pursue his own screenwriting career anyway. Lucky for him, his very first feature, Killing Winston Jones, a dark-comedy about killing yourself in order to leave a legacy, was produced and starred Richard Dreyfuss, Danny Glover and Jon Heder. He obviously peaked, and people began to think he was a much more accomplished writer than he actually was, which led to a full-time assistant professor position at Loyola Marymount, a top 10 screenwriting school mind you, and countless lectures at conferences and universities around the world. Did I mention he was nominated for an Outstanding Teacher Award? He didn't win of course, but he'd blame that on “optics.” He currently oversees the vision and ongoing operations of Verified Labs. His goal is to create a virtual version of Universal Studios, and his five-year plan slash exit strategy includes a monumental acquisition and several Mai Tai's on a beach in the Caribbean... or just the metaverse. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/crypto-hipster-podcast/support

We take a break from our slow and steady book analysis to do the thing we originally intended to do - huzzah! In this episode we look at "I, Frankenstein", a 2014 action fantasy film from the creators of Underworld, directed by Stuart Beattie. The setting is somewhere in Europe in the present or near future, the Creature is inexplicably American-accented, and indiscreet Melbourne location-shooting may negatively affect your suspension of disbelief.

In this week's Movie Date podcast, Rafer and Kristen try to squeeze as much as they can into half an hour. They begin with a review of the sci-fi semi-religious adventure movie, "I, Frankenstein." Starring Aaron Eckhart and Bill Nighy, it's written and directed by Stuart Beattie. Next, the great film critic Anne Thompson gives Movie Daters a dispatch from the Sundance Film Festival. When she's not rubbing elbows with Robert Redford, Thompson writes the Thompson on Hollywood blog at Indiewire. And then it's time to get onto the Movie Therapy couch, as Rafer and Kristen try to help a listener make the most of those months between her proposal and wedding. Next, there's a major correction to make. And finally, as always, Rafer and Kristen end with trivia. Phew! Buckle up because it's that kind of date.
