We were in the mood for something completely different. Actually Beth was in the mood for covering Asian Serial Killer genre, and our resident sub Vivica Dunlap suggested this deft little title from legendary director Gakuryu Ishii. Long considered one of the godfathers of Cyberpunk cinema with such titles as “Crazy Thunder Road” and “Burst City” Ishii would take a long directorial hiatus between his earliest films to make one of the most sinister depictions of brainwashing and coercive relationships. The serial killer arch is surface mystery. The real depravity unveils about a third of the way through the film, and is deeply unsettling. The film itself is a visual feast, yet more concise. One sequence will have viewers avoiding laundromats after dark for the rest of their lives. Kaho Minami and Takeshi Wakamatsu turn in compelling performances amidst the backdrop of supercharged, ambitious, 90s Tokyo. Throughout, Ishii maintains his salient narrative of Japanese society. It's a great watch, and we recommend discovering all of Ishii's work. Special note: in the episode we recommended watching the version that is posted on Daily Motion, there is also the original Japanese full film on the Internet Archive. The link ls posted below.Episode links:https://bloodvine.com/angel-dust“Why you should watch Burst City: https://youtu.be/ZuiiJuyeVZs?si=_7oyQEjWspJ862DHMovie links: (Japanese versio) https://archive.org/details/angel-dust.-1994.-dvdripDailymotion (English version) Source: Dailymotion https://share.google/OsmJ4dDuCrsck8lhb
Welcome back, Hazbin Hotelians…It's time to grab your halos because we are heading to HEAVEN!Today's lesson: Episode 6: Welcome To Heaven:Charlie and Vaggie finally make their trip to Heaven to plead the case for redemption, but what starts as a guided tour through fluffy koalas, rainbow sprinkles, and Darren Criss singing about the perfect afterlife quickly turns into a heavenly courtroom drama. Meanwhile back in Hell, Angel Dust, Husk, Cherry Bomb, and the newly crowned fan-favorite Sir Pentious hit the club scene, where Pentious proves that awkward rizz may be dead... but buying shots for everyone is apparently eternal.Join Tommy James, Sabrina Ace, and Mr. A-Town Ryan as they discuss the long-awaited arrival of Cherry Bomb, the shocking truth about Vaggie, Adam's completely made-up rules for getting into Heaven, Emily's Disney Princess energy, and one of the most important songs in the entire series, You Didn't Know. Plus, A-Town officially apologizes to Sir Pentious after spending most of Season 1 underestimating the snake king.Class is in session, Heaven is under review, and somebody really did buy shots for everybody!
Welcome back, Hazbin Hotelians…Mista Malave skipped class again. Honestly, at this point Charlie's gonna stop offering redemption and just charge him a late checkout fee.Today's lesson: Episode 4 - Masquerade:Tommy James takes the wheel while Sabrina Ace and Mr. A-Town Ryan break down one of the realest episodes in Hazbin Hotel so far. Under all the neon lights, jokes, drinks, and hotel lobby nonsense, this episode hits way harder than expected. We dive into Angel Dust finally letting the mask slip, Husk becoming the exhausted hotel bartender/therapist nobody asked for, and why “Poison” might be one of the most uncomfortable songs in the series once you actually listen to the lyrics instead of just vibing to it on TikTok.From the emotional damage hidden behind the performances to the weirdly honest message behind “Loser, Baby,” we break down the trauma, character growth, symbolism, and why this episode feels less like a cartoon and more like a therapy session Hell forgot to bill insurance for.
Ein merkasta jaðarþungarokkssveit allra tíma, Faith No More, er á borði Bestu plötunnar þessa vikuna. Sitt sýnist hverjum um uppsöfnuð afrek hennar og voru umræðurnar fróðlegar svo ekki sé meira sagt!
DL, Evil, and Rachel dig into Faith No More's The Real Thing (1989) — the album that accidentally invented nu-metal, made "Epic" a cultural phenomenon, and was written entirely by a 19-year-old Mike Patton who had never met the band before. The central debate: did Epic's massive MTV success actually hurt Faith No More's legacy by making casual listeners think they were a one-hit wonder? And is The Real Thing even their best album — or does Angel Dust win that argument by a mile?Along the way: the story of how Courtney Love almost got the singer job, the Chuck Mosley firing, why Billy Gould's bass on this album is the direct ancestor of Fieldy in Korn, how "Surprise You're Dead" at the 38-second mark contains one of the best gear shifts in rock, and a deep dive into why Epic's piano outro resolves a tritone (the "devil's interval") that the main riff deliberately left open. The influence argument: System of a Down have cited Faith No More as a direct influence — and the parallels between Serj Tankian and Mike Patton, and between Daron Malakian and Jim Martin, are hard to ignore. This episode sets up next week's Toxicity deep dive.Scores: Rachel 7/10, Evil 8.5–9/10, DL 8.3/10.Part of Verse Chorus Verse's influence-to-influence album arc.Faith No More,The Real Thing,Mike Patton,Epic,alt-metal,nu-metal,1989 albums,Angel Dust,System of a Down, album review, music podcast, funk metal

Hello and welcome listeners to Episode 336 of Journey with a Cinephile: A Horror Movie Podcast. In this episode, your tour guide, David Garrett Jr., concludes his Centennial Club with episode 27. The first featured review is an adjunct film of The Plague (2025). I'm pairing it with 1926's Midnight Faces. This double feature has two different types of invisible enemies. One with a metaphorical dread and the other a masked killer, hiding in an ‘Old Dark House'. I also got to see these films for Mini-Reviews: From Beyond (1986), Angel Dust (1994), Demons of the Mind (1972) and We Bury the Dead (2024). Also two documentaries to round the reviews with Category III: The Untold Story of Hong Kong Exploitation Cinema and Machete Maidens Unleashed! Travis's brother Judd and old friend Dave got together in person and joined '93-'94 to talk about album near and dear to all three's hearts-- Angel Dust by Faith No More from 1992.
Zwart. Pikzwart. Gebroken zwart. These episodes feature brand-new original songs by Sam Haft and Andrew Underberg — including “Piss (A Love Song),” “Speedrun to Redemption,” “Don't You Forget,” “Clean It Up!,” and “Don't You Forget (Reprise).” We break down every lyric, musical sequence, and emotional moment as Angel Dust takes center stage and Alastor's dark intentions loom large. The Guardians of Hell return — Charlie's hope for redemption, Vaggie's leadership struggles, Angel's journey toward healing, and the Vees (Vox, Velvette, Valentino) tighten their grip on Hell's entertainment empire. Expect cameos, musical battles, and animation showdowns that blend heart and humor with VivziePop's signature style from Helluva Boss. We analyze every frame, every melody, and every sinful reference that makes Hazbin Hotel Season 2 one of the most visually and emotionally ambitious series in modern animation. Whether you're searching for Hazbin Hotel songs explained, Hazbin Hotel Season 2 Episode 3 breakdown, Angel Dust arc analysis, or Helluva Boss connections, this reaction dives into it all with humor, emotion, and chaos straight from the depths of Hell. Join Here: https://ow.ly/msoH50WCu0KIgnite the inferno of redemption as Analytic Dreamz unleashes a fiery reaction to the Hazbin Hotel Season 2 Official Trailer on Prime Video. Dropped October 1, 2025, this explosive two-minute showcase heralds the eight-episode sophomore run premiering October 29 with a double-drop, followed by weekly pairs through November 19. Creator Vivienne Medrano ramps up the chaos post-Season 1's angelic showdown: Charlie Morningstar (Erika Henningsen) rebuilds her Hazbin Hotel amid thriving sinner ranks, but overlord Vox (Christian Borle) schemes a media-fueled uprising against Heaven, rallying The Vees—Velvette (Lilli Cooper) and Valentino (Joel Perez)—to sabotage her demon rehab dream.Analytic Dreamz dissects the trailer's hellish highlights: Alastor's (Alex Brightman) shadowy manipulations from his Season 1 "death," Vaggie's (Stephanie Beatriz) fierce loyalty clashing with Lute's (Jessica Vosk) vengeful Exorcist return, and Angel Dust's (Blake Roman) raw vulnerability in Husk's (Keith David) reluctant rescues. Musical mayhem steals the spotlight with the debut single "Hazbin Guarantee (Trust Us)," a satirical banger teasing Broadway-caliber numbers from the full soundtrack—pre-order now via Atlantic Records—blending dark humor, explosive combat, and emotional fractures like Lucifer's (Jeremy Jordan) paternal strains and Sir Pentious' heavenly enigma. New voices amplify the ensemble: Patrick Stump as Abel, Darren Criss, and Shoba Narayan, expanding the Hellaverse ties to Helluva Boss.Does this trailer promise amplified stakes—Vox's power grab igniting Hell-Heaven war, deeper lore on Overlords and Exterminations—or risk diluting Charlie's optimistic core amid gore and gags? Analytic Dreamz probes fan theories on Alastor's survival, redemption arcs' viability, and if A24's animation elevates the musical satire beyond pilot hype. For Hazbin Hotel Season 2 trailer breakdowns, Prime Video animated series reactions, Vivienne Medrano updates, and adult musical analyses, this segment is your sinful essential. On the latest episode of the podcast, Doug wonders if Angel Dust and PCP just don't exist anymore or if they just have new names, Jamie refers to the hero as 'Seed Star' for reasons that she feels are obvious, and we both realize that neither of us would last more than a day or two in the future hellish world that this movie posits (Doug refuses to live in a sewer and Jamie would attempt to bargain with the Terminators). Don't waste perfectly good ice cream playing pranks on a waitress, appreciate things like trees and grass while they're still here, and join us as we constantly get distracted by the little things while we discuss, The Terminator! The Terminator is a 1984 film written and directed by James Cameron and starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton, Michael Biehn, Paul Winfield, Lance Henriksen, Rick Rossovich, Bess Motta, Earl Boen, Bill Paxton & Dick Miller.Visit our YouTube ChannelMerch on TeePublic Follow us on TwitterFollow on InstagramFind us on FacebookDoug's Schitt's Creek podcast, Schitt's & Giggles can be found here: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/schitts-and-giggles-a-schitts-creek-podcast/id1490637008

A prolific Houston rapper with a baritone voice that is both smooth and menacing, Z-Ro merges hip-hop and R&B with explicitly honest tales of street life, relationships, and love. He debuted in the late '90s and first charted with his second album, Z-Ro vs. the World (2000), leading to a long-term affiliation with Rap-A-Lot Records. While signed to the globally recognized Houston label, Z-Ro hit the Billboard 200 with nine albums, starting with The Life of Joseph W. McVey (2004) and including his five-volume "drug series" introduced with Crack (2008) and concluded with Angel Dust (2012). Z-Ro went on to launch 1 Deep Entertainment, the outlet for all of his output since then. Drankin' & Drivin' (2016), No Love Boulevard (2017), and The Ghetto Gospel (2024) are among the full-length highlights of his independent phase. Z-Ro has hit the R&B/hip-hop singles chart several times, as both a featured artist (Bun B's "Get Throwed," Slim Thug's "Gangsta") and lead artist (including "Top Notch" and "Never [These Days]"). He's also known as the Mo City Don, named in reference to the Missouri city where he was raised. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Ah, the bizarre love/hate life of the New Order fan. What's your most loved and least favorite song on Low-Life?! For our fourth Request Episode Election, we went through dozens of listener suggestions to nominate Joe Jackson's Look Sharp, Jane's Addiction's Ritual de lo Habitual and this 1985 Manchester classic, which won in a landslide election. While half of us moaned about the album choice from our mystery nominators (MIA), we all had lots of great memories to share of adoring and rolling our eyes at NO. Superfan Sam hosted and held up lots of New Order vinyl, old tshirts were dusted off and Adam delivered an avalanche of guest rankers, starting with internationally-loved San Diego superstars Koi Division, who donned their iconic fish heads for a filmed interview. Days later, he visited Gold Diggers Sound in Los Angeles to chat with Dave Trumfio of the synth-lovin' Pulsars, whose lone 1997 debut/farewell album has finally recently been reissued. The two full interviews will be on our Youtube channel. Just you wait. In addition to getting tribute band opinions from San Francisco's Temptation and San Diego's Thieves Like Us (Substance responded too late to have their support for "Sunrise" be included), he got first hand accounts of 91X FM's infamous 1985 year-end countdown switcheroo from DJs Dwight Arnold, Pam Wolf and Billy Bones. Sub to the PPM Patreon to access the upcoming Companion EP to the Potash Interview & the "Counterinsurgent Strategies" Index: patreon.com/ParaPowerMapping Thanks for supporting the show! **** Here is hopefully the first of a number of wide-ranging & incisive convos w/ John Potash (https://www.johnpotash.com) on the weaponization of drugs for social control, counterinsurgent strategies, and the political assassinations of musicians & activists who buck against the capitalist status quo and whose ideological beliefs & activities are deemed threatening by the ruling elite & their intel henchmen. John is the author of Drugs as Weapons Against Us & The FBI War on Tupac Shakur. He's also the producer / director of documentaries of the same name, as well as his most recent release Shots: Eugenics to Pandemics—his filmography will be bolstered in short order by the forthcoming C I A Drugs R Us! A Drugs as Weapons... Sequel. A journalist & investigative researcher w/ a meritorious career stretching 3 decades, John's expertise has been called upon in documentaries broadcast on C-SPAN, A&E, Reelz, & RT among others—he's also a veteran of noided radio royalty Coast to Coast AM & myriad other shows on the late night airwaves. He's published his writings in Z, Covert Action Quarterly, The Baltimore Chronicle, & The Free Press. Along the way, John's completed graduate studies at Columbia University and has worked as a mental health & addictions counselor for more than 25 years, giving him a firsthand view of the neurotoxic impacts of many recreational substances on the mind & their weaponization against political dissidents by American intelligence, further underlining his qualifications as one of the preeminent scholars of the way in which the imperial hegemon wields psychoactive substances for mass mind & social control & counterinsurgent purposes at home and abroad... In my humble estimation, he is one of the foremost historians of MKULTRA, COINTELPRO, & intel-run culture engineering operations—he's also one of my personal favorite independent researchers, to boot. It was a true privilege to pick his mind. **** A solo ep accompanying this interview, including readings of excerpts from Drugs as Weapons, to follow imminently... Exploring the 1968 anti-war & Gym Crow student uprisings at Columbia, various members of that NYC activist milieu's targeting w/ acid & infiltration by the feds, & a Drugs as Weapons-esque case study concerning a Columbia dropout who was busted running a sophisticated, 40 person strong opioid manufacturing & trafficking ring in Omaha in 2017. This week on Dopey! Rejoice! Rejoice! For Dopey Legend John Joseph of Bloodclot, the Cro-Mags and author of countless books has returned! Listen as John takes us back on his oral tour of an old New York City full of punk rock, the origins of Angel Dust, and how he found recovery! PLUS JJ's weed delivery service, classic voicemails, emails and bonus goodies! More About Dopey: Dopey Podcast is the world's greatest podcast on drugs, addiction and dumb shit. Chris and I were two IV heroin addicts who loved to talk about all the coke we smoked, snorted and shot, all the pills we ate, smoked, all the weed we smoked and ate, all the booze we consumed and all the consequences we suffered. After making the show for 2 and a half years, Chris tragically relapsed and died from a fentanyl overdose. Dopey continued on, at first to mourn the horrible loss of Chris, but then to continue our mission - which was at its core, to keep addicts and alcoholics company. Whether to laugh at our time in rehab, or cry at the worst missteps we made, Dopey tells the truth about drugs, addiction and recovery. We continually mine the universe for stories rife with debauchery and highlight serious drug taking and alcoholism. We also examine different paths toward addiction recovery. We shine a light on harm reduction and medication assisted treatment. We talk with celebrities and nobodies and stockpile stories to be the greatest one stop shop podcast on all things drugs, addiction, recovery and comedy pathfinding the route to the heart of the opioid epidemic.
Ghostface Killah allegedly tried to steal three thousand dollars from a parking lot attendant. They said he was shot in the neck and shoulder in Steubenville, Ohio, shortly before the RZA went on trial for attempted murder. Or so the story goes. And it is true that he was busted with a .357 Magnum, hollow-point bullets, and a bulletproof vest during a routine traffic stop. It was stories and transgressions like these that led the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms to dig deep into Wu-Tang Clan's past in order to build a new narrative that the music was merely a front for organized crime – a narrative that would soon go all the way to the FBI.To see the full list of contributors, see the show notes at www.disgracelandpod.com.Sign up for our newsletter and get the inside dirt on events, merch and other awesomeness - GET THE NEWSLETTERSupport our Advertising Partners:ZBiotics: ZBiotics.com/DISGRACELAND Code: DISGRACELANDLiquid IV: liquid-iv.com/disgracelandCode: DISGRACELANDFollow Jake and DISGRACELAND:InstagramYouTubeX (formerly Twitter) Facebook Fan GroupTikTok To learn more about listener data and our privacy practices visit: https://www.audacyinc.com/privacy-policy Learn more about your ad choices.
