Fr. Mike emphasizes the power of the Holy Spirit exemplified in Paul's interaction with those in Ephesus in Acts 19 and reminds us that God wants to fill each of us with the same Holy Spirit so we can walk in his strength. Fr. Mike also highlights the power of sacramentals, the reality of demons acknowledging Jesus, and the importance of removing things in our lives that are harmful. Lastly, as we begin reading the Second Letter of Paul to the Corinthians, we get a glimpse of Paul's heart for the people of Corinth. Today's readings are Acts 19, 2 Corinthians 1-2, and Proverbs 28:22-24. For the complete reading plan, visit ascensionpress.com/bibleinayear. How do we pray? Prayer is essential for our relationship with the Lord. The Catechism teaches that we must study the Scriptures, learn how to pray, and have the will to pray. Fr. Mike shares two different sources of prayer: the Word of God and the Liturgy of the Church. He explains how the Holy Spirit guides us in prayer and teaches us how to speak with God. Today's readings are Catechism paragraphs 2650-2655. This episode has been found to be in conformity with the Catechism by the Institute on the Catechism, under the Subcommittee on the Catechism, USCCB. In this episode of Tin Foil Hat, Sam is joined by Dr. Joseph P. Farrell for a deep dive into the idea of a global campaign against Christianity and how this contrasts with the teachings of the early Church Fathers, who emphasized what they saw as the authentic message of Christ, far removed from what many modern preachers present today. They explore the view that contemporary culture has taken a turn toward the satanic, pushing people away from God and nature, and discuss the belief that powerful elites are deliberately degrading architecture, music, comedy, and art as a way to demoralize society. “Why don't we remember being babies?” This question opens a fascinating discussion about memory and development, alongside intriguing inquiries about the implications of an infinite multiverse on God’s creation and redemption. Other topics include the possibility of witnessing historical events from afar and the nature of cryptids, exploring whether they could be demons in disguise. Join the Catholic Answers Live Club Newsletter Invite our apologists to speak at your parish! Visit Catholicanswersspeakers.com Questions Covered: 11:20 – My 8-year-old wants to know why we don't have memories from when we are babies? 29:40 – Greetings from Northern England, where we also eat dinner in the middle of the day! My question is this: If an infinite multiverse does indeed exist, does that mean that in each universe God would either have to 1) not create rational beings capable of falling or 2) when he does, incarnate in each universe to redeem it? If a third option is possible it would seem that the fall and the incarnation are not necessary, and if they aren't God wouldn't be perfectly good in allowing them. 43:26 – If we could quickly travel vast distances in space and also had extreme telescope technology. Would it be possible to travel thousands of light years away, then turn our amazing telescopes back on earth and watch the pyramids being built or travel 65 million light years and see what killed the dinosaurs etc.? 50:00 – Could some cryptids be demons in disguise?
What if the greatest gift you give your kids this Christmas is a heart of generosity—and the chance to change someone else’s world? Ten years ago this month, Petr Jasek traveled to Sudan on behalf of The Voice of the Martyrs to meet with and encourage Sudanese Christians. At the airport on his way out of the country, Petr was arrested and later sentenced to life in prison. His first prison cellmates were ISIS fighters—men who hated Christians and quickly began to persecute Petr. Petr Jasek spent 445 days in Sudanese custody. Listen this week as Petr shares about his first night in a jail cell, how God uniquely prepared him with a dream and how he discovered that his cellmates were radical Muslim ISIS fighters. In prison, Petr felt the Lord's presence very near as—once he received a Bible—he spent hours every day reading the Bible and praying. In Petr's lowest moments, God brought to his mind the names and faces of other persecuted Christians—men and women Petr had met during his years overseeing VOM's work in Africa. He began to pray for other persecuted believers and his spirit lifted as his focus changed from his own difficulties to praying for other Christians. The story of Petr's imprisonment—and the ministry God allowed him inside—is told in his book, Imprisoned with ISIS: Faith in the Face of Evil. Days after returning home, Petr sat down with VOM Radio to share his story and thank the thousands of people who prayed for him and his Sudanese co-defendants during his long months in prison. To hear Petr share the entire story of his arrest, imprisonment, and eventual release, go to www.vomradio.net/petr. This interview was recorded during the VOM National Conference in Bartlesville, OK, where Petr shared how his time in prison and the lessons he learned there still impact him ten years later. To view a video version of Petr's interview, go to VOM's YouTube channel. The VOM App for your smartphone or tablet will help you pray daily for persecuted Christians in nations like North Korea, Nigeria and Bangladesh, as well as provide free access to e-books, audiobooks, video content and feature films. Luke 1:5–25 - [5] In the days of Herod, king of Judea, there was a priest named Zechariah, of the division of Abijah. And he had a wife from the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth. [6] And they were both righteous before God, walking blamelessly in all the commandments and statutes of the Lord. [7] But they had no child, because Elizabeth was barren, and both were advanced in years. [8] Now while he was serving as priest before God when his division was on duty, [9] according to the custom of the priesthood, he was chosen by lot to enter the temple of the Lord and burn incense. [10] And the whole multitude of the people were praying outside at the hour of incense. [11] And there appeared to him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense. [12] And Zechariah was troubled when he saw him, and fear fell upon him. [13] But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zechariah, for your prayer has been heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John. [14] And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth, [15] for he will be great before the Lord. And he must not drink wine or strong drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’s womb. [16] And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God, [17] and he will go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready for the Lord a people prepared.” [18] And Zechariah said to the angel, “How shall I know this? For I am an old man, and my wife is advanced in years.” [19] And the angel answered him, “I am Gabriel. I stand in the presence of God, and I was sent to speak to you and to bring you this good news. [20] And behold, you will be silent and unable to speak until the day that these things take place, because you did not believe my words, which will be fulfilled in their time.” [21] And the people were waiting for Zechariah, and they were wondering at his delay in the temple. [22] And when he came out, he was unable to speak to them, and they realized that he had seen a vision in the temple. And he kept making signs to them and remained mute. [23] And when his time of service was ended, he went to his home. [24] After these days his wife Elizabeth conceived, and for five months she kept herself hidden, saying, [25] “Thus the Lord has done for me in the days when he looked on me, to take away my reproach among people.” (ESV) THE EVENING MINDSET IS COMING! On In The Market with Janet Parshall this week we once again gave you the opportunity to sit in on another powerful conversation with the leading expert on the human brain as he discussed the connection between how we think and how we feel. He also explained how the powerful impact of chronic physical and emotional pain are rooted in the brain and what we need to do to reclaim a life that is pain free and vibrant once again. The stories have made their way from sub-Saharan Africa to the news feeds and broadcasts around the world. The violent killings of Christians continues unabated. We told you about an effort that you can be a part of which is providing much needed help to those who are suffering under this monstrous persecution. The mainstream acceptance of assisted suicide is leading to a dangerous trend in the U.K. as support for hospice care is being dropped in favor of euthanasia. We were visited once again by a friend to the program who is on the front lines of fighting the unique God-given dignity of humanity who explained how to transformation took place and commented on the once famous Germans twins who committed assisted suicide recently at the age of 89. Using his own life story as a foundation a chaplain & retired Brigadier General learned how despite disappointments and setbacks that can challenge us that we can always hold on to the truth that God is still for us. His story encouraged us to continue to press on in faith despite the circumstance and setbacks that we face. Parents today have to be on guard like never before to protect their children from predators and other dangers that are roaming around in the cyber world and the real world waiting to seduce them. She gave us strategies for speaking in age-appropriate ways to your kids about those dangers without creating fear while setting real and practical boundaries. Janet and Craig invite you once again for another important conversation as we go behind headlines to find the story behind the stories. As we turn our hearts toward the Christmas season, we are reminded of the miraculous events of birth of Jesus. On In The Market with Janet Parshall this week we took a closer look at the topic of miracles. Our guest, a highly respected author and former atheist shared his research into the topic by clearing up the confusion over what is and is not a miracle and through some amazing examples demonstrating how belief in the God who still performs miracles substantiates the gospel message. The demonic lie of antisemitism is gaining ground across this nation and around the world. We turned once again to our expert on Israel to getter a better understand the biblical origins of this hateful belief system and why a belief in Dispensationalism in not heresy as some are trying to say. All roads do not lead to Heaven, despite what many would have you believe. A highly respected pastor cleared up the confusion that says that whether you believe in Jesus, Buddha or Muhammad you ultimately will end up in the same place. He turned to scripture to show the fallacy of this kind of thinking and why Christ is the one and only way of salvation. Are right and wrong simply a situational idea that ebbs and flows according to our feelings or the prevailing thoughts of the day? Or have we been given clear lines from a sovereign God to guide and direct us in this life? Our guest tackled this very challenging question with clear, biblical insight and understanding. The end of the week is upon as and it is once more time to turn our focus on some of the story that made headlines this week as we continue to examine them under the magnifying glass of scripture.Become a Parshall Partner: http://moodyradio.org/donateto/inthemarket/partnersSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

We examine both prayers of praise and also the “nuggets” for this section on the forms of prayer. Fr. Mike emphasizes that praise is giving God glory for who he is. He also emphasizes that the Eucharist is the ultimate prayer of praise, and that every time we pray we are joining our lives to the saints and prophets who have gone before us. Welcome back to the Ending Well series. This is week five of looking back over the year, letting God redeem the hard parts, and choosing who we want to become as we step into a new season. Today's episode is all about marriage — but even more specifically, the kind of wife you want to be. Not the Instagram version. Not the performance version. The real, healed, whole version. This year, God radically reshaped how I see myself as a wife. I didn't set out to "become a better wife," but as He broke my addiction to productivity and constant performance, it transformed our marriage into an even safer place, a deeper gift, and a stronger home base. Episode Snapshot In this conversation, I share honestly about: The "strong, high-capacity, always-on" identity I lived in for years How that mindset spilled into our marriage and made me controlling, critical, and exhausted The follower's question that changed everything: "What did you do to change that brought this out in him?" Why sometimes you have to go first in doing the inner work The difference between survival-mode marriage and a marriage built on connection How God used pruning, slowing down, and healing my nervous system to completely shift my role as a wife We also name an important reality: There are marriages where abuse, betrayal, or deep harm is present, and "trying harder" as a wife is not the answer. I am not speaking into those situations; I am sharing from a context where I am married to a good man, and our biggest battles were often with our own mindsets, wounds, and habits. Key Shifts God Made In Me This Year Letting him lead Moving out of constant control mode Asking for his thoughts and actually listening Giving him room to step forward in decisions and in parenting Becoming less reactive, less critical Recognizing how perfectionism makes you hard on yourself and everyone around you Learning the difference between reacting and responding Owning moments where I project my own embarrassment or anxiety onto him Allowing myself to be supported Letting him help with dishes, laundry, the mental load, and home life Receiving service as an expression of love instead of proof that I am failing Integrating my calling and my home No longer seeing ministry or work as competition with being a wife and mom Letting God reorder my priorities: Jesus, marriage, children, then everything else Moving from "two separate versions of me" to one whole, integrated person Underneath it all, God shifted me from: "More of me, doing more, performing more" to "Less of me, more of Him — loving from abundance instead of exhaustion." A Scripture to Sit With "Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain." Psalm 127:1 This is true of literal houses and of marriages. Reflection Questions Take these to prayer, to your journal, or into a gentle conversation with your spouse: What kind of wife do I actually want to be — if no one were watching but God? Where am I over-functioning, trying to hold everything together in my own strength? Do I criticize my husband more than I pray for him? Where might God be inviting me to soften, slow down, or make space for him to lead? Am I willing to let Jesus make me whole, instead of just more productive? Inserted ad free shows:www.patreon.com/dopeypodcastThis week on Dopey! Comedy Legend and serious recovery survivor Darrel Hammond comes on the show! We dispose of a dead opossum. We reads listener messages about Patreon, Pearl Jam, the Charlotte McKinney episode, Spotify reviews, Theo Von speculation, “Many Rivers to Cross,” NA vs AA, and future guests like Tim Dillon. There's a voicemail about colonoscopy propofol and an email from Canadian listener Dylan about secretly smoking purple fent in rehab and still graduating before getting three years clean on methadone. Dave tells his own stories about using in treatment and invites more “using in rehab” emails. The main interview is a long, raw conversation with Darrell Hammond about childhood abuse, feeling like an outsider, drinking his first Bush beers, baseball, impressions as survival, and finally uncovering buried trauma in intense psychodrama therapy. Darrell talks about self-blame around his sponsor's suicide, years of in-and-out sobriety, cutting as a way to control panic and signal pain, and trying to work at SNL while hiding self-harm and drinking after the show. He gets into Clinton, the Comedy Cellar, how he finds the “funny” in impressions, the crack-house story on 137th Street, and the stroke that finally terrified him into fully embracing recovery, meetings, cognitive therapy, yoga, connection, and a “life of consultation.” He closes with his “religion” (improve myself, contribute to others' happiness) and his take on God, gravity, Einstein, and serenity. Dave wraps with Patreon/Zoom plugs, Safe Spot and sticker/mustard ads, a quick Andrew Dice Clay impression, a mini rant about Instagram, and a sincere reminder that recovery is the best thing that ever happened to him. All that and more on this weeks installment of the good old dopey show! Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. In this Friday Q&A, Granger tackles two thoughtful emails that deal with the power of language and the challenges of building a Christ-centered home. First, he responds to a listener who struggles with Christians using phrases like “been through hell” and questions whether this language honors what Jesus actually endured. Granger unpacks why word choice matters, how our phrases reveal what we believe, and why Christians should be intentional with the way we speak. The second email comes from a young wife and soon-to-be mom who did not grow up with biblical examples of marriage or parenting. She asks how to rewrite old patterns and understand God’s design for the family. Granger and the team offer practical counsel about discipleship, learning from older believers, embracing self-denial, and starting a new legacy rooted in Christ. Have a question for a future Q&A? Philosopher Stefan Molyneux challenges the existence of God from a philosophical perspective, drawing on decades of study. He defines existence and categorizes entities into three groups: those that exist, those that may exist without proof, and self-contradictory entities. Focusing on the latter, the lecture critiques God's traits of omniscience and omnipotence, posing logical dilemmas. Additionally, the relationship between consciousness and the brain is explored. Ultimately, he concludes that God's existence fails to meet criteria of evidence and logic, inviting reflection on the implications of believing in a non-existent entity.SUBSCRIBE TO ME ON X! https://x.com/StefanMolyneuxFollow me on Youtube! https://www.youtube.com/@freedomain1GET MY NEW BOOK 'PEACEFUL PARENTING', THE INTERACTIVE PEACEFUL PARENTING AI, AND THE FULL AUDIOBOOK!https://peacefulparenting.com/Join the PREMIUM philosophy community on the web for free!Subscribers get 12 HOURS on the "Truth About the French Revolution," multiple interactive multi-lingual philosophy AIs trained on thousands of hours of my material - as well as AIs for Real-Time Relationships, Bitcoin, Peaceful Parenting, and Call-In Shows! You also receive private livestreams, HUNDREDS of exclusive premium shows, early release podcasts, the 22 Part History of Philosophers series and much more!See you soon!https://freedomain.locals.com/support/promo/UPB2025

Everyone remembers a gift that left a lasting mark—something so meaningful that the moment surrounding it fades, but the gift itself stays vivid. Keneesha Saunders-Liddie opens with a childhood memory: a pair of beloved boots, cherished and unforgettable. But no gift compares to the one God gave the world on Christmas: the Word made flesh, Jesus Christ dwelling among us. John 1:14 reminds us that God’s greatest gift was not wrapped in paper but in humanity. Jesus entered a world that would reject Him, suffer deeply, and ultimately die for those He came to save. This is the heart of Christmas—God Himself choosing to step into our brokenness. Why this gift matters: Jesus came with unfailing love and faithfulness. He left His heavenly glory to dwell among us. He offered salvation when we were helpless and without hope. He is the gift we didn’t earn, couldn’t repay, and absolutely needed. Christmas can easily become filled with material expectations, pressures, and comparisons. But gratitude shifts our focus. Gratitude reminds us that while earthly gifts fade, the gift of Jesus is eternal. As you look around your home this Christmas—whether the season feels full or humble—remember that the greatest gift has already been given. Jesus came. Jesus rescued. Jesus stayed. And Jesus still saves. Bible Reading:“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” – John 1:14 Main Takeaways Gratitude should define our lives because Christ defined love through His coming. Jesus is God’s greatest gift—given with purpose, sacrifice, and unending love. True worship flows from remembering what His arrival cost and what it accomplished. No earthly gift can compare to the salvation, hope, and presence we have in Christ. Let’s Pray Dear Lord, I’m so thankful for the greatest gift You have ever given—the gift of Your Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Thank You for thinking of me before I even knew how desperately I needed hope. What an incredible gift from a God whose love is limitless and whose generosity never fails. Help me not only to speak words of gratitude but to live a life that reflects it—through obedience, service, and a heart centered on You. Cleanse me from any sin that keeps me from fully treasuring what You’ve done. Renew a right spirit within me and help me to walk in gratitude daily. Thank You for Jesus, for His coming, His sacrifice, and the salvation He secured for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen. This episode breaks down why waiting for someone to come back feels so intoxicating — and why it keeps you stuck. We unpack the psychology behind ambiguous loss, ego-driven attachment, the fantasy loops your brain clings to, and the deeper wounds waiting protects you from. If you're torn between “I hope they come back” and “God, I hope they don't,” this will give you clarity you've never had. You'll learn how to tell the difference between missing them vs. missing the validation, why waiting functions as avoidance, what “they always come back” actually means, and the exact questions to ask yourself if they do reappear. If you're tired of living in the “maybe,” this episode will hit home. Struggling in dating? Music worship has become a vehicle to "market" God and create the false reality that through group "worship" we can conjure His presence. The operative part of the word "conjure" is CON. Our relationship with God is personal, intimate and present in everything we do. While worship can be a means to elevate our love, it is not a mechanism to manifest a relationship. Matthew 1:1–17 - [1] The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham. [2] Abraham was the father of Isaac, and Isaac the father of Jacob, and Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers, [3] and Judah the father of Perez and Zerah by Tamar, and Perez the father of Hezron, and Hezron the father of Ram, [4] and Ram the father of Amminadab, and Amminadab the father of Nahshon, and Nahshon the father of Salmon, [5] and Salmon the father of Boaz by Rahab, and Boaz the father of Obed by Ruth, and Obed the father of Jesse, [6] and Jesse the father of David the king. And David was the father of Solomon by the wife of Uriah, [7] and Solomon the father of Rehoboam, and Rehoboam the father of Abijah, and Abijah the father of Asaph, [8] and Asaph the father of Jehoshaphat, and Jehoshaphat the father of Joram, and Joram the father of Uzziah, [9] and Uzziah the father of Jotham, and Jotham the father of Ahaz, and Ahaz the father of Hezekiah, [10] and Hezekiah the father of Manasseh, and Manasseh the father of Amos, and Amos the father of Josiah, [11] and Josiah the father of Jechoniah and his brothers, at the time of the deportation to Babylon. [12] And after the deportation to Babylon: Jechoniah was the father of Shealtiel, and Shealtiel the father of Zerubbabel, [13] and Zerubbabel the father of Abiud, and Abiud the father of Eliakim, and Eliakim the father of Azor, [14] and Azor the father of Zadok, and Zadok the father of Achim, and Achim the father of Eliud, [15] and Eliud the father of Eleazar, and Eleazar the father of Matthan, and Matthan the father of Jacob, [16] and Jacob the father of Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom Jesus was born, who is called Christ. [17] So all the generations from Abraham to David were fourteen generations, and from David to the deportation to Babylon fourteen generations, and from the deportation to Babylon to the Christ fourteen generations. Behold I am the haindmaid of the LORD be it done unto me according to your word! Andvent is a season of waiting, a pause before the messiah is born. We need to sit and wait and prepare our hearts. The Angle asked our Lady to be the mother of God, she paused and then declaired.. Behold I am the haindmaid of the LORD be it done unto me according to your word! Mary teaches us the pattern: Listen. Believe. Receive. Give praise. At the Annunciation, she offers her FIAT — a yes that lets God's life enter the world. One hand of the Pietà cradles Christ, the other stays open. So must ours. How and where is God calling you to give him your FIAT? Spiritual motherhood means emptying ourselves so we can receive divine life and nurture it through the Holy Spirit. We take souls to Our Lady, hide under her mantle when afraid, and offer ourselves as a total gift. The world needs good moms — women who radiate Christ's love and suffer with one another. The feminine genius is vulnerability, staying soft when life tries to harden us. Mama Mary, make me a virtuous woman like you. Help me give my FIAT, be a light that cannot be dimmed, a heart that stays soft, and a soul that radiates Christ's love. Amen.
If the weight of waiting has ever felt crushing…if your desires feel delayed…if your suffering feels like, “Lord, I can't do this anymore”, this episode is for you.In this first week of Advent, we talk honestly about the ache of longing and the places in our lives that feel heavy. But we also talk about the God who meets us there, who gives us grace for the long haul, who replaces our faint, weary hearts with “long-lasting batteries,” and who teaches us to hope again. We explore:The weight of waiting and how the Lord strengthens us in seasons of sufferingWhat happens when God invites us to name our desires with hope, not resignationHow Advent calls us to slow down, unclench our calendars, and step into sacred timeThe difference between external “liturgical living” and the gentle interior rhythm of graceWhy even the smallest shifts in prayer can reorient our hearts in profound waysHow the Lord is doing deep work in our souls—often beyond what words can describeAdvent isn't about striving. It's about letting ourselves be carried, like a leaf on the river of God's grace, toward the heart of the Father, toward the eternity we long for, and toward the desires He Himself placed within us.So if you're longing… aching… hoping… or simply tired, come sit with us. There are graces available in this Advent, in this moment, that have never been available before. We're so glad you're here.
