"Since the 80s, we've been brainwashed to believe that eggs are bad for us, butter is bad for us, dairy is bad for us, red meat is bad for us. And it's just not true." If you've been told your cholesterol is "too high"... if you're on a statin drug and wondering if it's actually helping... if you care about preventing heart disease instead of just managing it... this episode is your wake-up call. It's Heart Health Month, and Dr. Terri is cutting through decades of misinformation to reveal what's REALLY driving cardiovascular disease — and it's not cholesterol. From the gut-heart connection to the six hormones that could save your life, this is the heart health conversation your doctor probably isn't having with you. Here's the truth: "The highest gross revenue producing drug in the history of drugs — billions of dollars — and since they've come out in the 80s, cardiovascular disease rates and death from cardiovascular disease have actually gotten worse, not better." WHAT YOU'LL DISCOVER: → Why heart disease is a disease of INFLAMMATION, not cholesterol → The shocking truth about statin drugs — and why heart disease has gotten WORSE since the 80s → How cholesterol-lowering drugs are literally shrinking your brain (the brain is 70% cholesterol) → The connection between statins, insulin resistance, and Alzheimer's (now called Type 3 Diabetes) → Why "all disease begins in the gut" — Hippocrates said it 2,000 years ago and it's still true → How estradiol reduced cardiovascular disease progression by 50% in women who already had plaque → Why testosterone is powerfully protective for men's hearts (not just for energy and muscle) → The one organ that can't make its own T3 thyroid hormone — your heart → Why your "normal" lab ranges are based on a sick population (and what optimal ACTUALLY looks like) → The phone scrolling habit that's destroying your melatonin AND your heart health → The inverse relationship between cortisol and DHEA that's wrecking your cardiovascular system → The vitamin D level that triggers a 5x cancer risk and 160% increased cardiovascular disease risk → The 6 hormones you need optimized for true heart disease prevention This isn't about managing heart disease with more prescriptions. It's about understanding the root cause — inflammation — and optimizing the hormones your body needs to protect itself. YOUR ACTION STEPS: Get a deep-dive lipid panel (particle size, ApoA, ApoB), check your hormone levels, ask about a coronary artery calcium score, and focus on OPTIMAL — not just "normal." TIMESTAMPS: 0:00 - Intro: It's Heart Health Month 2:15 - Heart disease is NOT a cholesterol problem 4:20 - The statin drug soapbox: billions in revenue, worse outcomes 6:40 - How statins are connected to Alzheimer's and insulin resistance 7:55 - It all begins in the gut: inflammation and lipid polysaccharides 9:05 - The one statin study — and why it doesn't apply to everyone 10:20 - Estrogen: a powerfully protective anti-inflammatory molecule 11:25 - The study showing 50% reduction in plaque progression with estrogen 14:05 - Testosterone: protective for cardiovascular disease in men 14:45 - Thyroid: the heart can't make its own T3 16:15 - Why "normal" lab ranges are based on sick populations 17:15 - Optimal Free T3 levels and what pediatric data actually shows 17:50 - Melatonin: the hormone you're destroying with your phone 19:10 - DHEA: the cortisol-DHEA inverse relationship 20:25 - Vitamin D: the hormone-like molecule with massive cardiovascular impact 21:20 - Recap: The 6 hormones for heart disease prevention ---- The Dr. Terri Show is presented by EVEXIAS Health Solutions. February 14, 2026Today's Reading: Introit for Quinquagesima - Psalm 31:1, 5, 9, 16; antiphon: Psalm 31:2b-3Daily Lectionary: Job 10:1-22; John 5:1-18“In you, LORD, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame;” (Psalm 31:1)In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. One thing that we will all search for throughout our lifetime and never really seem to find is security. It could be financial security, security in our social status, job security, you name it, we long for it. But why strive for something, waste time and energy on something we will never attain? Ecclesiastes 2 says, “I considered all that my hands had done and the toil I had expended in doing it, and behold, all was vanity and a striving after wind, and there was nothing to be gained under the sun.” Why strive and toil for nothing? What comfort is given to us in the Introit for tomorrow, Quinquagesima? Do you want security in life? You want comfort that everything is going to be okay? Then look to the words of David in Psalm 31! Know and believe that our status on earth, our favor in the sight of man, and what we accumulate for ourselves in this life is worthless. It is the vanity that Solomon writes of in Ecclesiastes. What matters is our standing in the sight of God. David writes: “In you, LORD, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame; deliver me in your righteousness… Into your hands I commit my spirit; deliver me, Lord, my faithful God.”Psalm 31 perfectly sums up what we have been talking about all week. Our lives are not perfect, nor was David's. We have no right to be brought into His presence nor to go before His throne asking for anything. And yet He urges us to treat Him as our Father. To call upon Him in all circumstances. To trust in Him at all times. To take refuge in Him in all circumstances. And so it is we speak and confess along with David, saying, “In you, LORD, I have taken refuge.” What a true blessing it is to be able to commit ourselves to the Lord Most High, knowing that He has already acted on our behalf! Knowing that He has defeated the devil, the world, and our sinful flesh. Knowing that we rest in his unfailing love. Knowing He has already spoken the words which deliver us and give us eternal life. Friends, the love and faithfulness of God is our safety and comfort in this life filled with vanity and striving after the wind, filled with sin and sadness. The Lord God has overcome them all for us. In the Name + of Jesus. Amen.O Lord, “Let your face shine on your servant; save me in your unfailing love.” Amen. (Psalm 31:16) Rev. January 17, 2026Today's Reading: Introit for Epiphany 2 - Psalm 66:1-5, 20; antiphon: Psalm 66:4; 92:1Daily Lectionary: Ezekiel 39:1-10, 17-29; Romans 7:21-8:17“Shout for joy to God, all the earth; sing the glory of his name; give to him glorious praise! Say to God, ‘How awesome are your deeds! So great is your power that your enemies come cringing to you. All the earth worships you and sings praises to you; they sing praises to your name.'" (From the Introit for Epiphany 2)In the Name + of Jesus. Amen.St. Paul points out to the church in Philippi that the risen Christ has been given the name above all names, that at Jesus's name, every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord and God. That statement looks forward to the Last Day, when it will be clear to everyone, when the veil of sin is lifted, and every eye sees clearly. But our Introit says essentially the same thing, calling on all of creation—all the earth—to acknowledge the Lord God, and this was written hundreds of years before Christ walked the earth and showed his power over sin, death, and the Devil. The point is the consistency of the Biblical writers; they are moved and carried by the Holy Spirit to point to the very truth that undergirds all of life and creation: our Lord and God is worthy of all praise and adoration. He alone is to be the sole focus of all worship on earth. And so tomorrow, when you hear that Jesus turns gallons and gallons of water into fine wine, and that a part of creation is remade from a thing of the Law to a Gospel blessing, you, too, may shout for joy that the One who spoke creation into existence has made his light shine into the darkness of sin to reclaim you for himself as His child, His restored creation. This should also be the response of the Christian in weekly worship as well. The baptized should see in the Divine Service an opportunity to shout for joy to God, to sing glory to His name, to give thanks for the salvation won by Christ for you, which you receive the assurance of in Confession and Absolution, which you taste on your tongue in the Lord's Supper, which you trace upon yourself with the sign of the cross. All of it, part of creation singing to you and with you of God's glorious Gifts and salvation, all for you.In the Name + of Jesus. Amen.Lord God, bless Your Word wherever it is proclaimed. Make it a word of power and peace to convert those not yet Your own and to confirm those who have come to saving faith. May Your Word pass from the ear to the heart, from the heart to the lip, and from the lip to the life that, as You have promised, Your Word may achieve the purpose for which You send it; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen. (Collect for Blessing on the Word)Author: Rev. Duane Bamsch, pastor of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Wichita Falls, TX.Audio Reflections Speaker: Rev. January 10, 2026Today's Reading: Introit for The Baptism of Our Lord - Psalm 89:1, 26-28; antiphon: Liturgical Text; Psalm 89:20Daily Lectionary: Ezekiel 18:1-4, 19-32; Ezekiel 19:1-24:27; Romans 2:17-29“I will sing of the steadfast love of the LORD, forever; with my mouth I will make known your faithfulness to all generations. He shall cry to me, ‘You are my Father, my God, and the Rock of my salvation.' And I will make him the firstborn, the highest of the kings of the earth. My steadfast love I will keep for him forever, and my covenant will stand firm for him.” (From The Introit for The Baptism of Our Lord)In the Name + of Jesus. Amen.Tomorrow is the celebration of the Baptism of Our Lord and all of the strange and wonderful things that day brings: John the Baptist's confusion, the voice from the rent-open heavens, the Holy Spirit descending “like a dove.” And God speaks to Jesus: “This is my beloved Son.”The Introit for tomorrow helps set the stage with language you see all over Holy Scripture. Language of Father and Son, seen and explained by psalmists, prophets, Jesus Himself, and the writer to the Hebrews, to mention only a few.In all of this, there is the clear proclamation that God the Father has sent God the Son to accomplish the task for which He was sent. The Son is obedient to the Father's will and direction, and the Father honors Him for his steadfastness in the task ahead, even though it means a gruesome sacrifice to come. The picture of perfection. The ideal that we sinful believers can never obtain on our own. The Son of God becomes man, submits Himself to God's holy and righteous Law, lives a perfect life in our place, and stands as the substitute for our own deaths. Then, he gives the benefits of that perfection to all who call upon Him in faith. And in response, God the Father establishes His Son as the King of kings, the Lord of lords. He elevates Him to the highest place to honor what He has done for us and our salvation. That shows you there's a lot going on in the background of a simple Baptism in the Jordan River, doesn't it? Our Lord and God does nothing halfway; He has a plan for everything. And that plan is to bring salvation to His people, to the world, to all who call upon His name in faith and trust. A Baptism to set the stage for every Baptism. A Baptism that works the miracle of resurrection and salvation for all those baptized in the name of the Triune God. So the Father honors the Son for His saving work for you. And in response, we, too, give thanks to God for His mighty work.In the Name + of Jesus. Amen.New songs of celebration render To Him who has great wonders done; Love sits enthroned in ageless splendor; Come and adore the mighty One. He has made known His great salvation Which all His friends with joy confess. He has revealed to ev'ry nation His everlasting righteousness. (LSB 792:1)Author: Rev. December 13, 2025Today's Reading: Introit for Advent 3 - Psalm 85:1-2, 6, 8; antiphon: Phil. 4:4-5Daily Lectionary: Isaiah 29:15-30:14; Revelation 1:1-20"You forgave the iniquity of your people; you covered all their sin." (Psalm 85:2)In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. The Introit for tomorrow comes from Psalm 85, but there's a part of many psalms that we don't bother with very often. If you open up your Bible to Psalm 85, you will see at or maybe even before verse 1 these words: "To The Choirmaster. A Psalm Of The Sons Of Korah." Who is Korah, and who are his sons? For that answer, we start at Numbers 16.Korah rebelled against Moses during the 40 years in the wilderness. He thought He should lead God's people, and talked a number of them into staging a coup against Moses and Aaron. He refused to meet with Moses, lest Moses kill him and call it judgment from God. Well, the rebellion ended with the ground opening up before the people and swallowing Korah and his closest followers before closing over the top of them. A plague then hit the rest. There was no mistaking God's action. Moses didn't do a thing. But not everyone in Korah's family died. His sons lived (Numbers 26:11). We have their genealogy in 1 Chronicles 6. One of Korah's descendants was a man named Samuel, son of Elkanah, who was the prophet who anointed David to be king. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren went on to be musicians at the temple. The Holy Spirit inspired them to write eleven of the 150 Psalms. They used to rebel against God. And the Lord turned them to be speakers of His Word. He did the same with a Pharisee named Saul, who we now know as St. Paul. And He continues to call us out of our sin, and speak His Word to us, and through us to our neighbors. He does this because God forgives sin. He covers iniquity. And He did that through Jesus. That is why Advent prepares the way for Jesus to come to us. As a baby wrapped in swaddling clothes and laid in a manger. As a Savior wrapped in burial cloths and laid in a tomb. The death of Jesus pays for all sins, whether Korah's, or Paul's, or ours. His blood covers them all. And we stand forgiven in Him.In the Name + of Jesus. Amen.Hark, the herald's voice is crying In the desert far and near, Calling sinners to repentance, Since the kingdom now is here. O that warning cry obey! Now prepare for God a way; Let the valley rise to meet Him And the hills bow down to greet Him. (LSB 347:3)Author: Rev. December 6, 2025Today's Reading: Introit for Advent 2 - Psalm 80:1, 3, 14, 17; antiphon: Isaiah 62:11b; 30:30, 29Daily Lectionary: Isaiah 14:1-23; 2 Peter 3:1-18“Say to the daughter of Zion, ‘Behold, your salvation comes.' The Lord will cause his majestic voice to be heard, and you shall have gladness of heart. Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, you who lead Joseph like a flock! You who are enthroned upon the cherubim, shine forth. Restore us, O God; let your face shine, that we may be saved! Turn again, O God of hosts! Look down from heaven, and see. But let your hand be on the man of your right hand, the son of man whom you have made strong for yourself! Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit; as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen. Say to the daughter of Zion, ‘Behold, your salvation comes.' The Lord will cause his majestic voice to be heard, and you shall have gladness of heart.” (Introit for the Second Week of Advent)In the Name + of Jesus. Amen.God is present with His people. That promise runs all the way through Holy Scripture. It especially runs through tomorrow's Introit from Psalm 80 and the parts of Isaiah that comfort us today. Loneliness is a powerful feeling. It's hard when you feel abandoned by your friends and misunderstood by your parents. When it seems that God is far away from you, you can also feel a spiritual loneliness that is really discouraging. In those times of loneliness, Scripture leads us to call on God, “Look at me and don't forget me! Save me! Restore me! Don't go away, but stay here with me!” That's the prayer of Psalm 80. Hear the Word of God. Call out to your dear Heavenly Father as one of His dear children. You are not alone, because God is with you. He will never leave you nor forsake you. Hope in the Lord and in His plentiful redemption! When you feel alone and when you wonder if God really does care about you, remember that He has baptized you, placing His own name on you. Remember that He speaks His Word in your ears to remind you that you are forgiven and that you belong to Him. Remember that He has broken His own body and shed his blood for you, and gives you that Gift in Holy Communion. You are not alone, because your Lord, Jesus Christ, draws near to you and is present with you. He will remain with you until the Last Day, when He will take you to Himself. The Lord is always with you, no matter what!In the Name + of Jesus. Amen.God Himself is present: Let us now adore Him And with awe appear before Him. God is in His temple; All within keep silence; Humbly kneel in deepest rev'rence. He alone On His throne Is our God and Savior; Praise His name forever! (LSB 907:1)Author: Rev. #advent #catholic #sspxAdvent is a holy season of waiting. We learn how to wait for God.Waiting well is an important spiritual skill, because God often moves slowly. When we look at the history of the world and of the human race, we see that God is never in a hurry.God is outside of time. All of time is like a single moment for Him. He sees all of human history from the highest perspective. When we interact with God, we have to be willing for Him to act slowly. We have to be willing to wait. “Show, O Lord, thy ways to me. Teach me thy paths”, we say in today's Introit. His ways are slow.Abraham: God first appears to him when he is 75 years old, and promises that he will make a great nation of him. But his wife is not able to have any children. After 25 years, God appears to Abraham, when he is 100 years old, and promises that he will have a child by Sara, who is 90 years old. She has Isaac and the whole race of the Chosen People comes from him.Moses: the Israelites are being oppressed by the Pharaoh. He is telling the midwives to put their male children to death. Moses is saved from the water and raised by Pharaoh's daughter in the Egyptian court. When he is 40 years old, he flees to the desert. Only after 40 years more does God appear to Moses and ask him to go back to Egypt to deliver the Israelite people. They had been in slavery for 80 years at that point.Coming of Our Lord: God waits a number of centuries after Adam. When Our Lord comes onto this earth, He is not rushed. Rather, He spends 30 years living a hidden and unknown life. Only then does He come out into the public.Bottom line: God often waits a long time before acting. (same will be true of end of world!)We find this characteristic of our God difficult because we are naturally impatient as human beings. We are willful and we want control. We want things to happen when we want them to happen. We find it humbling to be forced to wait.

Fickenscher II, author of the new book Looking Forward to Sunday Morning: Reflections on the Church Year. However rare or frequent this is, there is something to be learned, and certainly something to look forward to. June 6, 2025 Today's Reading: Introit for Pentecost - Psalm 104:24, 27-28, 30; antiphon: Liturgical TextDaily Lectionary: Numbers 20:1-21; Luke 20:19-44“Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of the faithful, and kindle in them the fire of your love. Alleluia.” (Liturgical text)In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. What's in your heart? If you're honest with yourself, most of it's not pretty! There's a good chance there's some anger toward your parents or teachers in there. Probably also some jealousy toward your friends or classmates who have newer cars, or bigger homes, or are smarter or more athletic than you. And I'm sure if you dug deep, you could find much uglier stuff than that. Not that this should surprise us. God's Word has plenty to say about our sinful hearts. Do you remember what God said before He told Noah to build the ark? “The LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually” (Genesis 6:5). Or how about Jesus, when He said, “For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, slander,” (Matthew 15:19)? There's plenty of sin in each of our hearts.Thankfully, God has promised to put something else into our hearts. “And I will give them one heart, and a new spirit I will put within them” (Ezekiel 11:19). That new spirit God promises to put in our hearts is none other than His own Holy Spirit! This is why Pentecost is such a big deal! The Father and the Son send forth the Holy Spirit so that God Himself can come and fill our hearts, just as we pray in the Introit for the day. Here, we learn that all three Persons of the Trinity work in perfect harmony and unity to grant us salvation. The Father sends His only-begotten Son. The Son lives, dies, and rises for our salvation. And the Father and Son send us the Spirit through Jesus' Word and Sacraments to create and sustain faith in our hearts, a faith which clings to the promise of forgiveness in Jesus. So even though our hearts are filled with sin and will be as long as we live, we don't despair. The Holy Spirit resides in our hearts, too! This means that we live as redeemed children of God, knowing that Christ has washed away our sin and won't count them against us.And if that weren't enough, the Holy Spirit changes our sinful hearts as He dwells in them. By His power, we learn to truly love. “We love God because He first loved us” (1 John 4:19). And, because we learn to love God, we also begin to love one another (1 John 4:7). No wonder the Church prays, “Come, Holy Spirit!” In the Name + of Jesus. Amen.Come, Holy Ghost, God and Lord, with all your graces now outpoured On each believer's mind and heart; Your fervent love to them impart. (LSB 497:1)- Rev. Aric Fenske, pastor of Grace Lutheran Church and Trinity Lutheran Church in Bear Creek, WI.Audio Reflections Speaker: Pastor Jonathan Lackey is the pastor at Grace Lutheran Church, Vine Grove, KY.Andrew R. Jones identifies ten lies Satan uses in attempts to dismantle God's people and His kingdom. Find encouragement in God's Word of Truth and remember the final victory we have in our Savior, Jesus Christ.

In the Orthodox Faith, we are taught that when we see the Cross we see our Deliverer and the instrument of our deliverance. Yes, our Lord suffered and was in agony upon the Cross. His suffering shows forth His unfathomable love for every soul. But, as St. Paul says, the Christian is to glory in the Cross of our Lord, Jesus Christ. It is the wood of Aaron's rod that budded with life. It is the tree that made the bitter and harmful waters of Marah sweet and life-giving. As the Introit of this Mass reveals, "But as for us, it behoveth us to glory in the Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, in whom is our salvation, our life, and resurrection; by whom we were saved and obtained our freedom."

There has long been tension between the creative and innovative developments of music with the need to regulate what is appropriate and fitting for use during the Holy Sacrifice. Does this mean that we need to only use music that has been composed centuries ago? What about some of the hymns that we have grown up with – are they appropriate? To answer these and other questions, we discuss what type of music is and is not proper during Mass. Today in the Catholic Mass Series, we begin a new section examining the externals that surround the Mass, like vestments, the church building, and starting today, sacred music. From antiquity, music has been a part of worship. In fact, even false religions recognize the importance of music in their respective devotions and rites. Today in the first of two episodes on music and the Mass, we explore the history of music in sacred worship, starting with Jewish ceremonies and the Psalms, leading up to the present day. We also start to examine the various kinds of music in a sung Mass. We are continuing the section of the podcast series that proceeds step by step through the Mass to look at the various sections and rubrics of the liturgy. In this week's episode, we focus on the section from the Introit up to the Collect. These prayers and the symbolism of the liturgical gestures have a deep history, which is apparent when we open our hand Missals to see phrases like “The Mass of the Catechumens” and “Stational Churches.” What do these terms mean? And what is signified during this beginning portion of the Mass? https://angeluspress.org/products/the-life-of-st-francis-de-sales See all the episodes, and download resources: https://sspxpodcast.com/mass We'd love your feedback on this series! podcast@sspx.org – – – – – – View this episode on YouTube: https://youtu.be/exVo2tu44hQ – – – – – – – The Society of Saint Pius X offers this series and all of its content free of charge. The main goal of the Society of Saint Pius X is to preserve the Catholic Faith in its fullness and purity, to teach its truths, and to diffuse its virtues, especially through the Roman Catholic priesthood. Authentic spiritual life, the sacraments, and the traditional liturgy are its primary means of bringing this life of grace to souls. Although the traditional Latin Mass is the most visible and public expression of the work of the Society, we are committed to defending Catholic Tradition in its entirety: all of Catholic doctrine and morals as the Church has always defended them. What people need is the Catholic Faith, without compromise, with all the truth and beauty which accompanies it. https://sspx.org
