Also in the comics vein we briefly talk about Keanu Reeves’ plans for his own comic book series. AMC's The Walking Dead, and also this podcast, owe their existence to the Walking Dead comic, and so the sudden ending of that comic about a month ago marks a huge moment for all of us WD fans. Join Lucy, Derek, and me as we mark the occasion by talking to the one and only Charlie Adlard, illustrator of The Walking Dead comic! As illustrator, Charlie has been a crucial and enormous factor in how The Walking Dead turned out (both the comic and the show). We talk with Charlie about: His thoughts about the plot of the final issue and how things ended for all the characters. Inking the final issue himself. How he feels now that it’s over. Keeping the fact that the book was ending a surprise, and doing fake preview covers to help with that. Who was hardest and easiest to draw aged up in the final issue. Whether he’s ever thought about going back and redrawing the first six issues. Whether he’ll do more Walking Dead comics. What's next for Charlie. Plus a lot more. Look for Charlie's next comic, Vampire State Building, in comic shops in the US on Sep 18 (and available in France now). https://www.previewsworld.com/Catalog/JUL191360 This podcast is made possible by listeners like you (and you too) who have supported us at patreon.com/jasonandkaren. This week I give a non-spoilerish review of Spider-Man: Far from Home, talk about the next installment of the DCAMU with Batman & Son, and then discuss the surprisingly last issue of The Walking Dead Comic. This is definitely my best episode.
The last ever The Walking Dead comic has been released and Tom knows how it all ends. If you are happy to find out what happens in the comic series or if you've also read it take a listen. If you don't want spoilers then steer clear!
The guys start out with a less than flattering review & critique of Dark Phoenix and then try to make sense of the many confusing decisions being made with DC content and their streaming service. Ken Brown gets into his excitement for upcoming new content coming to the Walking Dead Comic book series. Finally we give thoughts on this weeks theatrical release of Men In Black: International aka Thor: Ragnarok 2 and give some love and hope for more of the character affectionately known as Fat Thor!

The Walking Dead has become a pop culture phenomenon. Maybe we're all sensing the end and need to find an exciting spin to put on it, or maybe the storytelling is just THAT addictive. Charlie Adlard, the man behind the artwork for 15 years of the comic's existence joins me at the Lake District Comic Art Festival 2018 to share his story from mesmerised childhood comic fan, to turning the words of Robert Kirkman into hard hitting, dynamic illustrative pieces of magic. We discuss the origins of his role on The Walking Dead, his first steps into the comic book industry and how he feels about the TV show and seeing his drawing come to life in such blockbuster fashion at AMC. In Eugene's desperate attempt to be useful, he gets one of the most useful characters killed. What a dick. A mullet-ed dick. Negan finally opens up and really reveals something about himself from before the zombie apocalpyse. The show should start doing this. Hint hint. You whore show. You know damn well you took all those CD's from my car so give them back! Goddamn whore show. Anyway, this is the last chapter for another year so Phoenix will be back in a year or so for chapter 29 and 30. www.LIWstudios.com
The war against the Whisperererers is finally here! We also finally see a bit more into Negan's past and it's great. Why does every girl want to fuck Carl? Is it because he's the only teenage boy left in humanity? Or is it because every teenage girl has a eye cavity fetish? Find out in this episode. Wait, that isn't discussed here. The answer is yes. Now you know. www.LIWstudios.com

It's been over 2 years since the last comic review so strap in/on for this one. We finally get to see/read the aftermath of the Whisperers murdering half the cast of characters. The aftermath isn't as crazy as you think it would be. Negan is starting to give advice to Rick and that can only lead to great places. Right? www.LIWstudios.com
Rick is beaten up by a teenager and loses some teeth. He's falling apart by the chapter. Negan escapes and becomes the leader of The Whisperes for exactly 20 seconds. Wasn't what I expected but that's a good thing. Are you ready for The Whisperer War? I know I am. I know Rick isn't. He will just be a torso and head sitting in a chair barking out orders soon. www.LIWstudios.com

This week the guys talk about the recently announced SNES Mini that will be launched in September. They take a look at the 21 games that will be on the console including the never before released Star Fox 2. Spin talks about his plan to be first in line to get one, how the layout of games mirrors and differs from what was put on the NES mini and what they want on a Genesis and 64 mini. They also talk about DC comics event Metal and the recently released Dark Days The Forge issue, Negan and the Walking Dead Comic, Marvel and More.
In this episode, Phoenix talks about how inaccurate of a title "Whispers Into Screams" is, at least for this particular chapter. It should be the title of chapter 24. Carl is officially a teenage pimp. Where is Michonne? Is it Claudette or Tammy? Why does she call Maggie a cunt? Find out all those answers in this episode. www.loiteringinwonderland.com
In this episode, Phoenix discusses the true value of Michonne (who is back by the way), What he would do sexually for the person that provided sock-eye salmon in the apocalypse, the bullshit lifestyle of the Whisperers, how invalid of an excuse of rape hurting is for Alpha, and how confusing it gets when all the main characters are all spread out in different places. Plus he tries to get you to go to his website to buy his books. Do it. www.loiteringinwonderland.com
In this one Phoenix talks about how he's bored with Michonne's character in the comic but not in the show. In the comic if she isn't slicing off zombie heads, she is banging a dude without emotion over and over. He also loves the way Negan is written and how he isn't just another bullshit villain. He also goes into what he really thinks happened to the fate of a character in episode 603 of the TV show. It is spoiler free but when he gets into TV spoilers, he tells you to turn it off so don't worry. www.loiteringinwonderland.com
Phoenix loves this chapter. More specifically he loves the concept of having/owning/needing "shitting pants" as Negan suggests. He again explains how bored he is watching Michonne bang people and then shut off afterward. He explains every aspect of the war that is happening here. He loves how Negan makes mistakes and isn't just a typical Bond villain. Then he goes into length to explain how stupid Bond villains are. Blah. www.loiteringinwonderland.com
In this chapter, society is rebuilt and it's kinda awesome. Phoenix is confused by how much time has passed but he figures it out way too far into the show. Rick look like shit, Maggie has Hershel instead of Glenn as a child, Andrea is the same, Carl is seemingly 6 years older despite it only being less than 2 years later. Whatever. The timeline is confusing. Phoenix loves what they did with Magna's group. The end. www.loiteringinwonderland.com
In this one, Phoenix explains how much he hates waiting for his shows so that's why he binge watches/reads everything. This is part 2 of the war and he's glad that he didn't have to keep waiting to see how it ended since he had all the books stockpiled already. He loves Negan so much that it's hard to see it all come to an end. Phoenix also is terribly confused as to WHAT exactly spreads the virus after Negan's plan of infecting their weapons and cutting people to spread the infection works. It's confusing. www.loiteringinwonderland.com
In this chapter, our characters find out they aren't the only psychopath assholes in the world. There are plenty more! This one introduces the Hilltop people, which makes them sound like a cult. Phoenix also talks about Land Of The Dead and how terrible it was. Then he talks about new character, Jesus and assumes it isn't pronounced in the hispanic manner. The dude is white, just like Jesus Christ....wasn't. Anyway he looks like American Jesus with white skin and long hair. www.loiteringinwonderland.com
In this episode, Phoenix complains that Aaron and Eric have too similar of names, originally he thought it was Aaron and Erin so that didn't help. He also has a suggestion for the people in this world: if someone is mad at you, give it 30 Mississippi's and they'll forget about it. Shit hits the fan in this chapter just like every third chapter. Carl takes a lesson from his father and goes into a coma. Rick would be so proud. www.loiteringinwonderland.com
We Find Ourselves sounds like a book you'd give to your kid as they're about to enter puberty. This chapter was purely just a set up for the chaos that happens later. Nobody dies, nobody new is introduced. Phoenix then does his Mark Wahlberg impression for a solid minute before getting back to describing the comic. Nicholas attempts to take over the town but doesn't. It was literally that exciting on the page too. He apologizes to Rick but he doesn't seem to give a shit. Typical man. (Thanks for the joke, Pam, the fat lady at every office with lame gender jokes) www.loiteringinwonderland.com
Something To Fear is fucking brutal. They kill off 2 main characters. TWO. To. TOO...many characters die in this one. It's just 2 but it seems like a lot. This chapter is awesome and it's filled with lots of new characters to hate/fear/lust after. Phoenix got his wish and Negan is a villain! He asked for this a few chapters ago when a random dude showed up at the gate and Andrea killed him in a page. It was a let down that finally paid off! Will it be worth it? Yes it will. Phoenix already knows the answer because he read ahead! www.loiteringinwonderland.com
What Comes After. Andrea moves out for 20 seconds then doesn't. Jesus follows Dwight. Jesus is used to the other way around. He's a better leader than follower because he gets caught. Anyway, Negan is a badass and has to swear every other word in order to show his power. Lucille is sexy, make sure you eat her 'bat pussy'. This is a weird chapter with tons of back and forth between Rick and everyone else in the entire comic universe. www.loiteringinwonderland.com
Here We Remain wasn't too thick on plot so Phoenix did a bit of story-telling before the actual review starts. He touches on hating the sports/comics chasm, exactly how many TWD comics there are and how much money you'd have to spend to be a completist, Back To The Future Part II day and how dumb the USA Today paper being a day late was. Then he discusses the comic and how crazy everyone is getting. www.loiteringinwonderland.com
What We Become is a sad one. Rick and Carl are still feeling the loss of Lori and Judith. Phoenix can't image why because he hates Lori with all his heart. Phoenix also spends a lot of this episode focusing on Rick's sleep mannerisms. Just saying... maybe if he slept more he wouldn't have to take a week long coma every few months. Also, he's horrified and confused as to why grown men would want to rape Carl when they are already surrounded by adult men to fuck. Weird. www.loiteringinwonderland.com
Fear The Hunters. Get this: a priest and a zombie walk into a bar. The zombie says to the priest "ahhgraaaghhh." The priest says to the zombie, "The lord shall keep me safe." The zombie proceeds to eat the priest because his nonviolent attitude is useless in the zombie apocalypse. Holy shit Gabriel is so insanely useless. He's just another pointless mouth to feed. Phoenix spends time in this installment talking about who/what is useful and what is not. www.loiteringinwonderland.com
Life Among Them was like Norman Rockwell meets George Romero. Lies are exposed, new ones are made. Eugene still has a mullet. Glenn looks exactly like Maggie when he takes his hat off. Rick starts a new love/hate relationship with Douglas inside Alexandria. They will be there a while so get comfortable. But not too comfortable because shit hits the fan soon. Listener beware. www.loiteringinwonderland.com
Too Far Gone is how Phoenix felt about Derek being killed so quickly at the end of the chapter. The comic introduced a cool villain and IMMEDIATELY killed him off without even a fight. What a shame. Our group has pretty much taken over Alexandria already and it doesn't go well. www.loiteringinwonderland.com
The Calm Before is a warning about the next chapter when the shit hits the cartoon fan. This chapter however.... just lounges around a lot for the most part. Lori has Shane's baby (because he pumped her full of semen), Dale is bitten (but it doesn't matter), and Carol fucks a child. It's fun on a zombie bun. www.loiteringinwonderland.com
Made To Suffer is when they decided to thin the herd. Cut the bullshit characters, even if they are infants. Fuck it. Hit the reset button. I'm very glad they did. Thin Lizzy would love the plot of this one too. Trust me. It's a reference. The Governor gets his revenge!....er...revenge for the revenge that was taken out on him....it's confusing but awesome. www.loiteringinwonderland.com
In this chapter Michone nails a dick to a board. That should be enough to scare you off but she does more terrible shit in revenge. This issue is insanely linear so it's hard to describe without sounding bored. Phoenix does his best though. That's why this episode is so short. Totally give it a listen though, it's funny. www.loiteringinwonderland.com
This chapter has the 22 page fight scene you've been waiting for...wait...no it's just between Rick and Tyrese. I didn't want to see them fight at all. Phoenix covers chapter 4 of The Walking Dead comic in a classy fashion, complete with plenty of cursing and racist questions. This chapter has the best ending to a chapter so far. Love it. www.loiteringinwonderland.com
In this chapter, the Governor is introduced and immediately gets into the business of raping. Phoenix won't touch that subject though. Nope, he won't force his way into the topic. The topic doesn't want to be discussed. Your ears don't want to be hearing about it. Phoenix will not force his way into your ears or any other orifice for that matter. Anyway, this chapter has an awesome quarter back sneak of a twist to it. www.loiteringinwonderland.com
While attempting to remember past seasons of The Walking Dead TV show, Phoenix said fuck it and decided to just reread the entire comic series again. In an effort to not let it go to waste, he decided to do a review on the comic as well as the show. He compares the first chapter of the series with the TV show in a way that only he can. www.loiteringinwonderland.com
Phoenix can't stop talking about exactly how much sperm Shane deposited inside Lori, Rick's wife. Also how unhygienic fucking in the woods is. If there were a competition between the comic and TV show about the appropriate amount of time to spend on Hershel's farm, the comic wins. There is a lesson to be learned: don't be one of Hershel's kids. www.loiteringinwonderland.com
All hell breaks loose in this chapter. Hershel's problems get way worse. The race wars have begun. The quest for gasoline has swept over the barren Australian landscape...wait...that's Mad Max. This chapter has it all: decapitation, sex, zombies, more decapitation, a few more zombies, old man sex and two 8 year olds fall in love. It was all over the place but it was amazing. www.loiteringinwonderland.com
