DO YOU EVER FEEL LIKE YOU SET A GOAL, PUSH HARD FOR A FEW DAYS—AND THEN FALL OFF AND WONDER WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU?Like no matter how many times you try, you can't seem to make yourself do the things you say you want to do?If that's you, this episode is going to change how you see yourself.Because it's not that you're lazy. And it's not that you lack discipline. It's that the fuel you've been using to motivate yourself is actually working against you—and no one has ever shown you what to use instead. In this episode, I'm breaking down why accountability and motivation fail most people, what's really underneath the cycle of trying and quitting, and what it actually takes to build habits that stick long term.In This Episode, I Cover:Why motivation and accountability alone will never be enoughThe real reason you can push for a few days—but can't make it lastHow shame becomes the hidden fuel behind most "self-improvement" effortsWhy using self-hatred as motivation has a built-in breaking pointThe difference between forcing yourself and genuinely wanting to show upWhy love is a more powerful motivator than frustration, disappointment, or disgustHow to get specific about why you actually want what you wantWhy your brain resists new habits—and why that doesn't mean anything is wrong with youThe practical steps to remove barriers and make showing up easierHow to talk to yourself the night before so you actually follow throughThe toddler analogy that reframes everything about self-disciplineWhy a D-plus effort is still better than nothing—and how to own thatWhat regulated accountability actually looks like versus dysregulated forcingHow to flex when life gets in the way without quitting entirelyWhat changes when you stop using guilt and start using radical self-acceptanceKey TakeawayYou don't have a motivation problem. You have a fuel problem.Shame, guilt, and self-disgust can push you for a few days—but they will always break down. They are not a long-term solution. What actually works is getting specific about why you want what you want, removing the barriers between you and the action, and learning to redirect yourself with kindness instead of force. You don't need to be harder on yourself. What if the way we engage with social media is teaching our girls more than anything we could ever say?In this episode of Empowering Her, I am opening up a real conversation about social media, self-worth, validation, and what it means to model healthy digital behavior for the girls in our lives.I originally thought this would be two separate conversations, one for women and one for teens. Then I realized they are really the same conversation. So many of the things we are asking girls to navigate online are the very same things we are navigating ourselves. We tell girls that their worth has nothing to do with likes, comments, followers, or validation online. And then sometimes, we pick up our own phones and forget to live by the very wisdom we are trying to hand them. This episode is an invitation to pause before we post. To check the energy behind what we share. To notice whether we are posting from joy or from hunger. To ask whether we are expressing ourselves or measuring ourselves.Because if we are going to be empowered women empowering girls, we have to walk our talk.In this episode, I talk about:Why social media can be beautiful, but should never become the place where we decide if we are enoughThe difference between sharing and reachingHow to check the energy behind a post before you hit shareWhy posting from overflow feels so different than posting from emptinessHow a post can perform well and still leave you feeling emptyWhy joy is a powerful strategy when it comes to creating contentHow the algorithm may be real, but your nervous system matters moreWhy our girls are watching how we engage with social mediaHow to use social media from a place of power, clarity, creativity, and truthThis conversation is for every woman who wants to feel more intentional with social media. It is for mothers, mentors, coaches, educators, leaders, and every woman who wants to model a healthier relationship with visibility, validation, and self-worth.The real rule of engagement is this:Before you ask the world to engage with your content, engage with yourself. And before you post, ask yourself:Am I posting from joy, or am I posting from hunger? That one question might save you from handing your power away to a screen. If you have ever felt the pull to empower girls, I would love to invite you to learn more about the GiRLiFE movement.I created a free information session where you can learn how to get involved, whether you are looking for workshops, community, business training, or a simple first step into this work. You can learn more at:www.melodypourmoradi.com/infoLet's Stay Connected! As an empowerment coach, author, twin girl mom, and the creator of the GiRLiFE Academy, my mission is to help every woman and girl discover her voice and live a life that lights her up from the inside out.I'd love to connect with you and continue this beautiful journey together!

It's about shifting from managing performance… to affirming worth. This episode is the emotional and intellectual closer to a powerful triad—and it lands with clarity, urgency, and heart.Key TopicsWhy mattering is emerging as a defining issue in leadership and societyThe hidden cost of achievement culture on well-beingThe SAID Framework (See, Acknowledge, Include, Depend) as a daily leadership practiceAttunement as the leadership superpower we don't talk about enoughThe “corner person” concept and why everyone needs oneHow gratitude and acknowledgment build cultures of belongingPractical ways to embed mattering into organizational lifeMattering is not a soft skill—it's a survival skill.People thrive when they know their worth is unconditional, not tied to performance.Attunement is presence in action—it's noticing, listening, and responding with care.Great leaders don't just drive outcomes—they become corner people for others.Cultures don't drift toward mattering—they are built through intentional daily acts.Quotes“People feel that their worth is not conditional.”“The joy train is a leadership life skill.”“Let someone know they matter to you today.”“Attunement is how we show people they're seen—without needing them to perform.”Chapters00:00 – Introduction to Mattering and Leadership07:07 – Why Mattering Matters (Now More Than Ever)10:10 – The SAID Framework in Action12:51 – Attunement: The Missing Leadership Skill16:02 – The Power of Being a “Corner Person”19:04 – Gratitude, Acknowledgment, and Daily Practice22:03 – What This Means for Leaders Going ForwardKeywordsleadership, mattering, attunement, well-being, coaching, gratitude, organizational culture, leadership development, emotional intelligence, belonging, SAID framework, Jennifer Wallace, Never EnoughClosing ThoughtsIf the first conversation opened our eyes…and the second gave us language…This one gives us responsibility.Because once you understand mattering, you can't unknow it.And from that point forward, leadership becomes a daily choice:Will people feel seen, valued, and needed because of you?

AI resume builders are everywhere. And while they promise the “perfect resume in 2 minutes,” something interesting is happening in the job market: resumes are starting to look exactly the same.In this episode, Chris Villanueva, Founder and CEO of Let's Eat, Grandma, breaks down what recruiters are actually seeing right now—and why the rise of AI-generated resumes is creating a huge opportunity for job seekers who know how to stand out.Chris shares his firsthand observations from reviewing resumes and testing popular AI resume tools. While many of these platforms offer slick interfaces and impressive keyword optimization, they often produce documents that feel generic, keyword-heavy, and lacking the one thing that actually gets interviews: a compelling human story. You'll learn why relying too heavily on AI can hurt your chances, what mistakes many AI-generated resumes make, and how to craft a resume that cuts through the noise. If you're serious about landing interviews in today's competitive market, this episode will show you how to do the opposite of what everyone else is doing. What You'll Learn in This Episode:Why many AI-generated resumes are starting to look identicalThe biggest weaknesses of AI resume buildersWhy keyword optimization alone isn't enoughThe difference between responsibilities and real accomplishmentsHow recruiters spot generic resumes immediatelyWhy your story and context matter more than everPractical ways to make your resume uniquely yoursKey Takeaway: AI can help with editing and formatting, but it can't replace your personal story, context, and achievements. Send us Fan MailMost interior designers and small business owners believe cybersecurity is something they will deal with later or that their business is simply too small to be of interest to hackers. That assumption is no longer true.In this episode of The Business of Beautiful Spaces, Laura sits down with Jason deCourcy, founder of Xoomler, to uncover the real reason small businesses, solo entrepreneurs, and one-person design firms are now the primary target for cybercriminals.Hackers have changed their strategy. Instead of going after large corporations with robust security teams, they're intentionally targeting small businesses that lack dedicated IT resources and ongoing security monitoring. Even more alarming, many attacks are not immediate. Hackers often gain access quietly, stay hidden, learn how your business operates, identify your clients, and wait for the right moment to exploit vulnerabilities.Jason breaks down what's really happening behind the scenes and explains why interior designers are especially vulnerable due to the sensitive client information, financial data, and communication systems they manage every day. This conversation is not about fear. It's about awareness, prevention, and protecting the business you've worked so hard to build. In this episode, you'll learn:Why small businesses and solo entrepreneurs are the perfect target for cybercrimeHow hackers infiltrate businesses quietly and stay hiddenWhat types of data cybercriminals are really after and why your clients' information mattersWhy basic antivirus software is no longer enoughThe real cost of downtime for a small businessPractical steps you can take to protect your business and your clientsHow proactive cybersecurity can prevent a much larger and more costly issueIf you've ever thought, “There's nothing in my business a hacker would want,” this episode may completely change how you think about protecting your company.Connect with JasonIf you'd like to learn more or book a consultation with Jason, you can reach him directly at:jason@xoomler.comIn just one focused hour, we'll dive into whatever you need most—pricing strategies, client management, attracting high-end clients or building repeat business. In this episode of Man Vs. Marriage, Quincy Moran challenges men to see the power they truly hold in their homes, their marriages, and their legacy. What Quincy calls “superhero status” is not fantasy. It is the real-life authority a man has to change, lead, heal, and redirect the trajectory of his family by first changing himself. This episode dives deep into how the past can either serve as a professor or become a prison. Quincy shares a personal story about how childhood pain and false beliefs shaped his identity for decades, and how confronting those lies opened the door to real transformation. If you have ever felt trapped by your past, stuck in disappointment, or unsure how to become the man you know you are meant to be, this episode is for you. This is a call to stop living from old wounds, stop adapting to misery, and start making the decisions that build a stronger marriage, stronger family, and stronger legacy. In This EpisodeQuincy covers:Why a man's power in his home is “superhero status”The difference between your past being a professor or a prisonWhy who you are is not who you have to beHow people acclimate to misery, disappointment, and driftThe internal resistance that always comes with real changeHow childhood wounds can quietly shape adulthood, marriage, confidence, and identityQuincy's personal story of people-pleasing and feeling like he was never enoughThe hidden suffering of regret versus the meaningful suffering of responsibilityWhy change begins with one decisionHow a man can change the trajectory of his family legacyWhy leadership in the home starts with personal transformationHow faith, responsibility, and action create lasting changeKey Takeaways1. Your past has power, but it belongs behind youYour history matters, but it was never meant to rule your future. It can teach you, but it should not imprison you.2. Misery becomes normal if you let itMen often acclimate to disappointment, pain, drifting, and dysfunction until it feels normal. That comfort in misery is dangerous.3. Change always comes with resistanceWhen you start swimming upstream, resistance is part of the process. Feeling resistance does not mean you are on the wrong path.4. You are not stuck being who you've beenOne of the central truths of this episode is simple: who you are is not who you have to be.5. There are two kinds of sufferingYou will suffer either way:the suffering of regretor the suffering of responsibility and growthOne path weakens you. The other transforms you.6. Your decisions shape your family's futureThe decision you make today can change the trajectory of your marriage, your children, and your legacy.7. Real leadership starts withinBefore a man leads his family well, he must confront the lies, wounds, fears, and patterns within himself.Memorable QuotesThese are strong pull quotes for captions, thumbnails, or graphics:“The power a man holds might as well be superhero status.”“Your past can be a professor.”“Your past can continue to be a prison for you. Which do you choose?”“Who you are is not who you have to be.”“We acclimate in our misery.”“One path leads to regret. The other leads to responsibility.”“Today is the day I will become the hero in my own story.”“You have the power and the authority to change today.”“Be the hero in your own story.”“The work is worth it.”Who This Episode Is ForThis episode is for:Husbands who feel stuck in old patternsMen carrying pain from childhood, family history, or personal failureMen who are tired of drifting and ready to leadFathers who want to change the direction of their family legacyMen of faith who want to align transformation with responsibility and actionCall to ActionIf this episode challenged you, send it to another man who needs it.Share it. The Hidden Trauma We All Carry (And How to Heal It) (Diana Bitting) - Episode 217

Today's conversation is one that touches every single one of us — whether we realize it or not. We're talking about trauma. Not just the big, obvious trauma. Not just what happened to you. But how it lives inside your body… and quietly shapes your health, stress levels, relationships, and even your sense of purpose.Joining us is Diana Bitting, co-founder and CEO of Catbird Health, an AI-powered trauma-informed care platform pioneering an entirely new model for healing. But Diana didn't start here. She spent decades struggling with a chronic inflammatory condition that no doctor could explain. Test after test came back “normal.” She was told it was stress. Or anxiety. Or maybe even “all in her head.”Sound familiar? After trying everything — diets, protocols, medications, functional medicine, and talk therapy — nothing created lasting relief. Until one conversation changed everything. When Diana began exploring trauma science and nervous system healing, her symptoms started to lift. Because here's what she discovered: Trauma doesn't just live in the brain. It lives in the body. And until the nervous system feels safe, true healing can't happen. In this episode, we explore:Why trauma is stored in the nervous systemThe link between inflammation, anxiety, insomnia, and unresolved traumaWhy talk therapy alone may not be enoughThe difference between cognitive healing and body-based healingHow personalized, trauma-informed care is changing the future of medicineWhy every single one of us can benefit from trauma healingThis conversation is grounded in science, but it's also deeply hopeful.Because healing trauma isn't just about resolving the past. It's about unlocking energy, clarity, connection, and purpose in the present. If you've ever felt like something was “off” in your body — even when everything looked fine on paper — this episode may connect some powerful dots. You are not broken. Your body has been protecting you. And healing is possible.MORE FROM DIANA BITTINGCheck out Catbird and start your person healing journey. Learn more about Diana.  Visit seekingcentercommunity.com for more with Robyn + Karen and many of the guides on Seeking Center: The Podcast. Season 2 of On the Balcony continues by looking sideways — exploring frameworks that stretch Adaptive Leadership into new terrain. In this episode, Michael Koehler sits down with Judit Teichert, Managing Director and Partner at KONU Germany. Judit's work is shaped by her background as a licensed psychotherapist trained in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and more than a decade of coaching and facilitation around adaptive leadership and adult development with teams and organizations across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and the U.S.The conversation explores a question that sits quietly underneath so much leadership work: If we already understand the challenge, why is change still so hard?Judit's answer: insight alone isn't enough. We need practice — repeated iterations that build new pathways, not just in our thinking, but in our emotions, behaviors, and relationships. Change requires more than understanding. It requires reps. This episode also spends time with loss — not as something to fix or rush past, but as something that needs to be named, held, and lived through if change is going to last.Stay With What You're LearningEach episode, we send a short reflection and one resource to go deeper — things we don't include in the show.Sign up for the On the Balcony newsletter: konu.org/balconyWhat You'll Explore in This EpisodeThe triangle of change: thinking, feeling, actingHow cognitive behavioral therapy offers multiple entry points into change — and why limiting ourselves to "thinking our way" into new behavior often falls short. Why insight isn't enoughThe gap between understanding a pattern and actually changing it. Why we underestimate how many iterations — how many "reps" — real change requires.Practice as pathway-buildingThe metaphor of building a road through a jungle: the first time you take a new route, everything is unfamiliar and threatening. Only through repetition does a path become a highway.Managing loss in organizationsWhy naming loss is both diagnosis and intervention. How holding space — without rushing to solutions — allows groups to grieve and then reorient on their own terms. The role of ritual and structure in griefWhat we can learn from cultural and religious traditions about allocating time and space for mourning — and why organizations often skip this step.Reframing loss as sacrificeHow, after grief has been processed, framing loss as "in service of something bigger" can restore meaning and commitment.A live example from client workHow one organization combined adaptive leadership diagnosis with CBT-informed skills practice — role-playing difficult conversations repeatedly to build new muscles for candor.Quotes from This Episode"I think sometimes we underestimate how much practice, how many flight hours or reps it takes to actually change." — Judit Teichert"When you take a new route the first time, you're in a deep jungle. You don't know what the next step looks like. That's why it feels so tense and sometimes threatening to do something you've never learned to do before." — Judit Teichert"Paradoxically, one of the strategies to manage loss is not to manage — but to hold." — Judit Teichert"Grief and sadness — their function is to support us to reorient. If we don't take that time, we're clinging to something and we cannot wholeheartedly commit to something new." — Judit Teichert"There's a deep hole in the sidewalk. I walk around it. And there's like the absence of any drama in that sentence. That's one of the biggest changes." — Judit...

“The first Christmas came with gifts meant for broken hearts.” Christmas is often one of the hardest seasons for parents grieving the loss of a child. Today, I reprise a solo episode originally recorded in 2020 during the height of the COVID pandemic which speaks into a time marked by isolation, uncertainty, and compounded grief. Separated from loved ones, surrounded by illness and fear, many bereaved parents were carrying more than ever before. In this episode, I reflect on the Christmas story through the lens of Isaiah 9:6, focusing not on the gifts we exchange, but on the gifts given at the very moment Jesus was born. In this episode, I discuss:The gift of our Wonderful Counselor, when no human words are enoughThe gift of our Mighty God, whose strength carries us in our weaknessThe gift of our Everlasting Father, steady and committed now and foreverThe gift of our Prince of Peace, offering peace with God amid chaos and sorrowThe gift of Immanuel—God with us, near to the brokenhearted and crushed in spiritThrough Scripture, personal reflection, and gentle encouragement, this episode reminds grieving parents that they are not alone—especially when traditions feel altered, expectations feel heavy, and the future feels uncertain.A reminder for this seasonWhen Christmas feels overwhelming… When your heart aches for what used to be… When your child's name goes unspoken… When a new year feels impossible to imagine…God is with us. That is the gift of Immanuel.I would love to hear your thoughts on the show. Click here to send me a message!
