Mike Johnson is close to notching a major legislative victory that may come at an extremely high cost: His job as speaker of the House. The foreign aid supplemental that's been roiling the House GOP comes up for a procedural vote today where it'll need Democratic support to pass — and if that vote on the rule passes, the underlying legislation will also need Democratic votes to get through. That's good news for Ukraine and Israel. But for Johnson, the picture is decidedly less clear. Playbook co-authors Rachael Bade and Ryan Lizza game it all out.

In this week's WAB podcast, Angelina and Hannah from High School Student Club Inkblot took over and produced their first episode titled "All about the IB". They opened up about their individual encounters with the IB program, sharing their challenges, turning points, personal growth, and insights gained along the journey.   During their conversation, Hannah recounts a story from one of her peers who expressed that the IB program showed them the extent of their capabilities and motivated them to push themselves to achieve their potential within a limited timeframe.   The two students also discussed their subject selection process. Angelina shares her initial struggle with three course clashes at the beginning of the IB program. However, she later discovered a newfound love for subjects she hadn't initially considered. Her IB learning journey, she explains, has been "evolving" and "challenging".  Hannah explains that her passion for industrial design in university led her to choose Design Technology and Visual Arts. Although her first choice of history wasn't available, she luckily ended up in Geography, which has now become her favorite subject. Hannah describes her IB experience as both "empowering" and "driving".   Angelina reflects on the significance of making independent decisions when choosing courses, stating "it was the first time that you're making a decision on your own." She recalls that the personal project in Grade 10 paved the way for this type of decision-making, but the IB program granted her even greater space and control.    For Hannah, one of the most empowering aspects of the IB program is the opportunity to pursue her interests. Her IB education has made her aware of her passion for social justice. She also mentions people need to pay attention to maintaining mental health. "We are IB students, but at the same time we're also teenagers", said Hannah. She emphasizes the importance of striking a balance between academic commitments and personal well-being.   Both Angelina and Hannah feel that WAB provides an ideal environment for students to pursue their IB studies. "We're in such an incredible environment where your voice is really heard," said Angelina.   To hear details about these students' IB experience, don't miss out on this episode presented by the HS student club Inkblot.

There are a few songs that have lyrics that nobody seems to be able to decipher. And, you might be surprised to find out just how ridiculously far efforts to find their meanings went. We're not necessarily talking those songs that have a word or two, here or there, that you can't quite figure out.                         Because, there are those where you can understand every word – but the message is an enigma. Even when super fans can tell you they know what the words Truly mean. Perhaps the meaning is known only to the composer – or maybe there is any logic to them– the words just sound good together. And then – there are those where the artist mushes up the words and phrases so much, you can't be sure they are speaking words.  https://www.buzzfeed.com/madisonmcgee/people-are-sharing-the-wildest-historical-events-that-are  Item 11 https://vault.fbi.gov/louie-louie-the-song/louie-louie-the-song/view Additional Reference: Richard Berry, speaking in an interview, revealed the lyrics he wrote were meant to be the lamentations of a love sick sailor, from the Caribbean, talking to a bartender named Louie as follows: “Louie Louie, me gotta go. A fine little girl, she wait for me. Me catch the ship across the sea. I sailed the ship all alone. I never think I'll make it home. Louie Louie, me gotta go. Three nights and days we sailed the sea. Me think of girl constantly. On the ship, I dream she there. I smell the rose in her hair. Louie Louie, me gotta go. Me, see Jamaican moon above. It won't be long me see me love. Me take her in my arms, and then I tell her I never leave again. Louie Louie, me gotta go.” (By Richard Berry. Join Sis and Big Pops for a talk about pop culture news fun things happening in movies, tv-shows, and comic books. We discuss the Loki Charms, In the Heights, ReedPop's Metaverse, and Cowboy Bebop. We go over what we're bingeing right now. Sis is watching RWBY and Gravity Falls and Pops hasn't really been watching much, but has been reading a lot of comics on his iPad (I know, who has he become reading the electronic comic books). But he did watch Prince of Egypt, which we both agree BOPS. Pops shares his pull list, this week he introduces us to Amazing Spiderman – 67 and Ironman Annual 1 by Marvel, Swamp Thing Issue 4 and Suicide Squad issues 1-4 by DC, as well as Fire Power issue 12 and Inkblot by Image Comics. His book of the week is Milestone Returns: Infinite Edition #0 (which you could still go get if you want). We reviewed the first trade of Seven Secrets by Boom Studios, which is full of lore that is so cool and we do a subpar job at explaining. We also reviewed the first episode of Sweet Tooth on Netflix, a lovely full-circle moment from news, to comic reading, to watching. This episode was originally recorded on 6/8/21. I'm a relationship builder, a natural storyteller (before "storytelling" was a buzzword), connector, curator and community builder." This path has led him into the augmented reality space where he empowers Black communities to express themselves through creativity, art, and technology. During his college career, he injured his hips and had to get bilateral hip reconstructive surgery. It was then that he began to explore art, comics, and development for mobile devices. It became an avenue of self-expression as well as therapy. He then received his Master of Arts from Oregon State where he focused on visual representation of social issues through an interdisciplinary lens: primarily animation and illustration. This path has led him into the augmented reality space where he is empowering Black communities to express themselves through creativity, art, and technology, and is now admitted to Medical School.  At Iltopia Studios, he tells stories about the Black experience in America using art and technology. There's a version of American history that we all learned in school: before it was a nation, the slipshod collection of English colonies began in New England and Virginia, and then gradually spread west and south. America was a porous, fibrous sheet of paper, the first settlements like inkblots that slowly bled out towards the edges of the blank white page. Expansion moved right to left: first Georgia, then Alabama, then Mississippi, and so on.But Mobile is a whole new inkblot.Read the story and see photographs at: https://www.adeepersouth.com/stories/2019/1/28/mobile
