Leadership is more than a title—it's a calling to influence, inspire, and impact those around us. As ministry leaders, our responsibility isn't just to know what Jesus says in Matthew 5:13-16 about being salt and light—it's to live it out in every aspect of our leadership and ministry.  Today, we're diving into the question: Why and how do we influence? This is a crucial topic that will be explored at YPS by leaders like Pastor Eugene Cho and Dr. Kathy Koch, who bring deep wisdom and insight into what it means to lead with purpose. Why do you believe this topic is so important for leaders today? When we look at Matthew 5:13-16, how should we apply Jesus' words to our own leadership and influence? What are some key leadership insights you would share with leaders on how to maximize their personal leadership and influence?  Key Takeaways from Today's Discussion: Salt speaks to how we shouldn't compromise. Light speaks to the action of pointing others to Jesus—the decision is up to us. Leadership is not just positional—it's influential. We must lead with integrity, purpose, and a heart for serving others. The greatest leaders don't just develop strategies—they develop people.  Join Us at YPS! Are you a youth leader, educator, or volunteer? Youth Pastor Summit is for you! It's an opportunity to be equipped, encouraged, and connected with others in ministry. Fruit Filled Freedom Galatians 5:15-26What Paul teaches on Freedom: Walk by the Spirit. Our flesh tells us the opposite of the Spirit. You're either walking by the Spirit or the flesh. You can't be a part time spirit walkers and part time flesh walkers. We have to walk by the Spirit 24/7. Be led by the Spirit. Submit and subscribe to the wisdom and discernment of the Spirit. Leverage the fruit of the Spirit.Understand an upward relationship with God. Understand the outward responsibility with have with others.Understand the inward requirement of ourselves. Live by the Spirit.Die to self.Devote ourselves. Your private faithfulness will impact your public fruitfulness.Three questions to assess if you're walking with the Spirit:How is your intimacy with God?Where is your identity placed? What is your real intent as a leader?Connect with SLU:InstagramRegister for SLULearn more about The LIFT TourLearn more about YPS Connect with our Hosts:Brent's InstagramBrent's TwitterJeff's InstagramJeff's Twitter

What a Friend We have in JesusGod's mission for us is to not throw out the wish dream of friendship, it's to find that kind of friendship in Him. Two Truths on Prayer: prayer is not a performance, it's a place to be honest a wandering mind in prayer is actually a giftFrom the very beginning, God took the day off to spend time with us. He pursues us. In the gospels, the One who has the answers to every single question, wasn't concerned about giving the answers, He was concerned about relationships. We see in the friendship of Jesus: He pursuesHe loves you at your best and at your worst He knows you and He lets you know Him (John 10) Matthew 7 - Have we ever let Christ know us?Mark 9 - He asks questions not because He doesn't know the answer, but so that He can woo your heart out of hiding. He gives His life for His friends You are fully forgiven for ALL of it. You cannot outsin the cross. He earned life on your behalf. Hebrews 4 - we can approach our friendship with God confidentlyNothing goes to waste with Jesus our friend. Connect with SLU:InstagramRegister for SLULearn more about The LIFT TourLearn more about YPS Connect with our Hosts:Brent's InstagramBrent's TwitterJeff's InstagramJeff's Twitter

Youth pastors have a tendency to know a ton of people at church, but can sometimes be known deeply by few.  For your own personal growth, mental health and spiritual health, it is so important to have close friendships that go much deeper than the superficial stuff.  Do you have those people in your life that you can open up to?  The people that you can be very real with?  The close friendships that don't just know you as a youth pastor, but know who you are to your core?  These are the people that you need in your life to lean on for support and accountability.  In this episode we take a look at why youth pastors need deeper friendships that go beyond their youth ministry.  We recently attended the Youth Pastor Summit (https://slulead.com/yps/)  where Ben Trueblood (www.studentministry.lifeway.com/ - Director of Student Ministry for Lifeway Christian Resources) and Shane Pruitt (www.shanepruitt.com - National Next Gen Director for the North American Mission Board) discussed the importance of these friendships during their talks and Q&A session.  If you haven't already signed up for the Youth Pastor Summit in your area, we encourage you to do so! https://slulead.com/yps/We love hearing from you all and we do our best to provide powerful and insightful youth ministry content on a weekly basis to be that coach and mentor you may not have, but desperately need.If you have an episode idea, please E-Mail us at MinistryCoachPodcast@gmail.com!If you have it on your heart to support this ministry, please consider going to our Patreon page at: www.patreon.com/ministrycoachYou may also enjoy these episodes:(#093) Youth Pastor Self Care: Making Time for Yourself & Avoid Burn Outhttps://www.buzzsprout.com/974710/episodes/10298852(#118) Are You Losing Your Heart for Youth Ministry? 3 Ways to Get it Back!https://www.buzzsprout.com/974710/episodes/11403641==================
