Leadership is more than a title—it's a calling to influence, inspire, and impact those around us. As ministry leaders, our responsibility isn't just to know what Jesus says in Matthew 5:13-16 about being salt and light—it's to live it out in every aspect of our leadership and ministry.  Today, we're diving into the question: Why and how do we influence? This is a crucial topic that will be explored at YPS by leaders like Pastor Eugene Cho and Dr. Kathy Koch, who bring deep wisdom and insight into what it means to lead with purpose. Why do you believe this topic is so important for leaders today? When we look at Matthew 5:13-16, how should we apply Jesus' words to our own leadership and influence? What are some key leadership insights you would share with leaders on how to maximize their personal leadership and influence?  Key Takeaways from Today's Discussion: Salt speaks to how we shouldn't compromise. Light speaks to the action of pointing others to Jesus—the decision is up to us. Leadership is not just positional—it's influential. We must lead with integrity, purpose, and a heart for serving others. The greatest leaders don't just develop strategies—they develop people.  Join Us at YPS! Are you a youth leader, educator, or volunteer? Youth Pastor Summit is for you! It's an opportunity to be equipped, encouraged, and connected with others in ministry.

Dr. Manan Shah is a founder and Chief Medical Officer (CMedO) of Wyndly. As CMedO, Dr. Shah oversees every aspect of Wyndly which interacts with patients (and many that don't!), including patient experience, provider experience, medical operations, marketing, and customer support. He's led Wyndly from just an idea, to its first patients, to the fully-functioning medical practice and company it is today.Dr. Shah is academically active at national and local levels. He has published multiple peer-reviewed articles in medical journals and book chapters. Additionally, he gives presentations and lectures locally and nationally on topics relating to otolaryngology. He was nominated by local colleagues to serve as the President of the Colorado ENT Society, and also elected by his national peers to serve as the Secretary of the YPS of the American Academy of Otolaryngology, and is also a member of the Academy's Telehealth Committee.Dr. Shah created Wyndly with co-founder and cousin Aakash Shah in 2020, participating in the Y Combinator W21 batch. Prior to Wyndly, Dr. Shah completed his medical school at the University of Maryland and pursued an additional certification in clinical research. He subsequently completed his Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery training at the University of Connecticut. Before his medical career, Dr. Shah attended Tufts University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts, double major: Music and Biomedical Engineering. Outside of Wyndly, Dr. Shah focuses on increasing the understanding and accessibility of allergy care and otolaryngology both through research articles on his website and answering common medical questions on reddit, Youtube, and TikTok. Dr. Manan Shah Vroom Vroom Veer Show Summary Episode Summary: In this episode of "Vroom Vroom Veer," host Jeff Smith engages in a compelling conversation with Dr. Manan Shah, the founder and Chief Medical Officer of Wyndly, a fully virtual allergy care practice. Dr. Shah shares his journey from the initial concept to the actualization of Wyndly and discusses the innovation of providing allergy treatments online. Key Points Discussed: Introduction and Background: Dr. Shah describes Wyndly's mission to provide long-term allergy treatment through immunotherapy that patients can administer at home. Shift in Allergy Treatment: Dr. Shah discusses how traditional allergy treatments necessitate frequent visits and injections at a medical office, which is inconvenient and outdated in the current fast-paced world. He compares this to Wyndly's method of sublingual immunotherapy, which is popular in Europe and easier for patients to manage at home. Early Years and Inspiration: Growing up in Maryland, Dr. Shah was heavily inspired by his parents, both of whom were in medical professions. This familial influence steered him toward a career in healthcare, specifically otolaryngology, bridging his mother's dentistry and his father's surgery practices. Career and Educational Background: Dr. Shah touches on his educational path, including attending Tufts University, the University of Maryland for medical school, and the University of Connecticut for Otolaryngology training. His career choice was further solidified by personal medical experiences and the desire to improve patient care. Challenges in Traditional Medical Practices: He discusses the challenges within traditional medical setups, including the constraints imposed by insurance companies on patient care. This frustration led him to explore more patient-focused solutions that would not involve the cumbersome and often opaque billing practices associated with insurance. Starting Wyndly with Tech Support: Dr. Shah recounts how his cousin, Aakash Shah, helped him integrate technology into his practice, which became particularly useful when transitioning to virtual consultations during the COVID-19 pandemic. On that day, the high priest entered the Holy of Holies of the tabernacle (or temple) to atone for the sins of all Israel. The basic idea of atonement is a "covering" of sin; the purpose is to accomplish reconciliation between man and God. In the NT the Day of Atonement was referred to as the "fast" (Acts 27:9). “I came that you might have life in ALL of its Abundance.” - John 10:10  Volunteers and student leaders… train them and educate them regularly on what is expected and consistently remind them of God's vision through you for themselves and your student ministry. During my time as a student minister, we would take our volunteer staff to various trainings hosted by student focuses groups (YPS, SLU, YFC, FCA etc.) and a few weeks before the school year would start, we would have one weekend for training at a special location (beach, mountains, etc.) with our volunteers and their families. That was the best, but one year I decided to change it up! At that time you could park at any of the Disney World hotels for free and and hold impromptu sessions in the lobby or on the outside of the property. I loved the Animal Kingdom Lodge, with the outdoor fire pits, rocking chairs, all while being surrounded by wild African animals roaming the zoo like setting onsite. If you knew someone working there, in upper management, you could even get a special room set up in the lobby or a special meeting room.  Larry Stephens With CRU (episode 140 on the Youth Worker On Fire Podcast), came to train our volunteer staff and it was beyond amazing! Another time we used Disney University, because of Don Levonious (episode 06 on the Youth Worker On Fire Podcast). He was the Executive who was in charge of the University (yes it is an actual University). Several of his staff were Christians who were Professors at the University of Central Florida, UCF, and Valencia State College. They and Don became the trainers for our volunteer training weekend. Yes, living near Disney World and the ocean has its perks. However… wherever you live has its perks also! You just have to be willing to interact with your community, pay it forward, and the world around you that God is using will open up. _______________________________ Looking for a new student ministry resource? You can read my book “Burn Up Not Out: A Student Ministry Fire Builder's Guidebook” here: https://amzn.to/3PtBTIy Listen to more episodes from the Youth Worker On Fire Podcast here: https://bit.ly/3saDyYq _______________________________ EPISODE CREDITS Email us at: youthworkeronfire@gmail.com Hosted by: Doug Edwards Theme Song: "The One and Only" by The 808 : Listen to more at https://bit.ly/3FTYIAJ Intro/Outro Voiceover: Michael Helms : https://www.youtube.com/@MichaelTheSoundGuy  Edited by: Secret Roots Music House

What a Friend We have in JesusGod's mission for us is to not throw out the wish dream of friendship, it's to find that kind of friendship in Him. Two Truths on Prayer: prayer is not a performance, it's a place to be honest a wandering mind in prayer is actually a giftFrom the very beginning, God took the day off to spend time with us. He pursues us. In the gospels, the One who has the answers to every single question, wasn't concerned about giving the answers, He was concerned about relationships. We see in the friendship of Jesus: He pursuesHe loves you at your best and at your worst He knows you and He lets you know Him (John 10) Matthew 7 - Have we ever let Christ know us?Mark 9 - He asks questions not because He doesn't know the answer, but so that He can woo your heart out of hiding. He gives His life for His friends You are fully forgiven for ALL of it. You cannot outsin the cross. He earned life on your behalf. Hebrews 4 - we can approach our friendship with God confidentlyNothing goes to waste with Jesus our friend. Connect with SLU:InstagramRegister for SLULearn more about The LIFT TourLearn more about YPS Connect with our Hosts:Brent's InstagramBrent's TwitterJeff's InstagramJeff's Twitter

Despite the wealth of evidence highlighting the benefits that investing in women and youth can bring in terms of conflict prevention, crisis response, and peace, the failure to allocate sufficient resources and funds has been perhaps the most serious and persistent obstacle to the implementation of the WPS and YPS agendas. Moreover, research shows a consistent, striking disparity between policy commitments to gender equality and women's empowerment, and the financial allocations to achieve them. Saumya is the co-founder and CEO of Youth for Peace International, a youth-led peacebuilding organisation in India. As a social entrepreneur, peacebuilder, and international trainer, Saumya has been working towards building a peaceful world by empowering young individuals and creating a sustainable society. In this episode, we discuss Saumya's experiences accessing resources as a young peacebuilder; she shares what needs to change in the donor community to ensure an enabling environment for young women peacebuilders, and an ideal future where all members of society have equal opportunities to achieve and sustain peace.
