HELLO FROM THE VOID!This is my first episode in over a year. I promised in spring of 2023 that I'd return in the fall. But in the fall, we collectively began to witness an unbridled holocaust in Palestine. I was frozen with grief for many months, and stopped producing all content; I was speechless, and hopeless. While I'm still filled with a profound grief and rage, a lot has changed for me since then. I've found strength and solidarity in my anti-zionist queer sex worker community, and a community of fellow anti-zionist Jews. Today's episode features a conversation with myself and queer, anti-zionist Jewish educators Ayelet Cartolina and Jessie & Elana from the Making Mensches Podcast. One last thing: in June of 2023, Meta deleted my Stripper's Guide Instagram account in a wave of overnight deletions of thousands of sex workers' accounts across the world. It is so important to me to be able to stay connected to you! If you want information and tools for navigating anti-sex worker and anti-femme stigma in the world and in your relationships, please consider subscribing to my free blog on Substack! You can still find me on Instagram, but please don't let that fickle place be our only avenue of connection.Support the showLove the show and want more of it? Season 7 has been a fiery one, and the finale is just as smokin hot! Erica & Leilah are geeking out because on this episode, they get to talk with one of their own favorite podcasters: AUBREY FUCKING GORDON!!Aubrey Gordon (also known as Your Fat Friend) is an author, podcaster, and activist focused on justice for fat folks. She stopped by A Stripper's Guide Podcast for a chat about how--and why--sometimes former fat folks and former sex workers try to distance themselves from their pasts. We talk about the dangers of stigma, the realities of social pressures, and how the fight for sex workers' rights and the fight for fat peoples' rights are actually one and the same.Aubrey's links & stuff:Maintenance Phase Podcast (available wherever you stream)Books: "You Just Need to Lose Weight" and "What We Don't Talk About When We Talk About Fat"Social Media: Twitter, InstagramYour Fat Friend DocumentaryA Stripper's Guide pod is taking a little breaky-break for the summer, but keep up with us on our newsletter!Connect with us! Sex workers, fat folks, queer folks, and femmes are generally not encouraged to set boundaries for ourselves when it comes to sex . We're told to act according to society's script: please our partners, never ask for what we want, and never complain when we don't get it. In this tarot-infused episode from Erica Sosa, the Queen of Cups and the Queen of Wands show us how to break away from all that to focus on our own joy, pleasure, and desires.Check out Erica's blog, Revolutionary Hotness, which is all about celebrating herself as a fat femme in a world that wants her to be ashamed of it. CW: violence against sex workers and femmes. From intimate partner violence to mass murder, sex workers aren't the only people who suffer the consequences of anti-sex worker bias. On March 16, 2021, a white man walked into three separate massage parlors and murdered eight people. Most of those killed, and all of those targeted, were Asian women. When you watch a rom-com or a sitcom, who do you normally see as the romantic lead? You're probably picturing a slim, slightly curvy, probably white or racially ambiguous cis woman with everything “just right.” More than likely, your mind did not drift to someone fat, Black, Brown, or queer. So how do we combat this? By embracing everything society wants us to be ashamed of. This way, we practice revolutionary resistance to the patriarchal idea of who deserves love, softness, kindness, and respect. Dr. Rhea Ashley Hoskin is blazing trails in the field of Femme Theory, which aims to center and include femme narratives and experiences in all realms. From conservative communities to feminist and queer communities, why is it that so many femmes know what it's like to feel somehow both underestimated and overlooked, and at the same time behaviorally policed? Why is it that so many femmes, from sex workers and food servers to teachers and corporate professionals, know what it's like to be sexually harassed at work, at home, and out in the street? Dr. Hoskin and I ponder these questions and more.Find more of Dr. Hoskin on Instagram, Twitter, and her websiteFind Leilah on InstagramCan femme be theory? Too often, when a sex worker needs help with something, they don't get the right help (if they even get help at all). Something a lot of us worry about is that we won't be understood or taken seriously by therapists, coaches, doctors, realtors, lawyers, etc. We need support from people who really *get* us; we need service providers from within our own community.Register for Why "Time Management" Doesn't Work for Strippers (a free event for sex workers & nightlife industry professionals who can't get their shit together)Join A Stripper's Guide book club

Thank you also to my client Lauren Higgins, who has helped educate me as well. Thank you to my fat and formerly fat loved ones for your continued patience and grace as I learn how and where to raise my voice on behalf of fatness. LISTENERS: Your feedback is always welcome! If you ever feel the need to check my skinny, white, very privileged ass, when it comes to body justice or any other topic, you are more than invited. I will receive your feedback with grace and I promise to take accountability for any harm I caused. You can contact me about that, or with sex worker in film recommendations, on Instagram, or email me at contact.leilah@gmail.com
