In today's episode, we delve deep into the heart of the men's self-improvement industry, where a storm of controversy brews around prominent figures like Hamza, 1stman, and Iman Gadzhi. As critical YouTube videos gain traction, shedding light on inconsistencies and potential scams within their advice, the community finds itself at a crossroads. Are these influencers the guiding lights they claim to be, or are they leading their followers astray as so many are starting to claim? Join me as we navigate this turbulent sea of opinions and dissect the implications of holding industry leaders accountable for their actions. While it's essential to call out any unethical practices, we must also acknowledge the positive impact these individuals have had on countless lives. Hamza, 1stman, and Iman Gadzhi have been pillars of inspiration, guiding young men on their paths to self-improvement and success. Yet, as newer voices rise, some are quick to dismiss their contributions and erase their legacy. Many of the criticisms being thrown are that Hamza has been flip-flopping between different advice, especially when it comes to relationships. With 1stman many are doubting the legitimacy of the 1M House - a project that he has recently launched. Iman gadzhi has also received many of the same accusations that question if his agency and business are actually legitimate. Through candid discussion and introspection, let's explore the nuances of this ongoing debate. Social Media can feel like a really integral part of our lives. It's awesome to see such an Godly, inspirational young man doing his thing. One's social muscle is often overlooked, and neglected. In this episode I discuss why it is important to prioritize the development of your social muscle, as much as we develop say our physical body, or even our brain and knowledge. I believe this is important as many young people I see around me each day have underdeveloped social skills. This is understandable as the culture and society we live in today does not emphasize one-on-one social interaction. The amount of opportunities and connections that you gain by developing the social muscle is by far worth it to meet new people and make new friends. Many people turn down opportunities to develop their social muscle because they feel it would be awkward or uncomfortable. I hope by listening to or watching this you will feel inspired to put some work into developing your social skills. Studies referenced: K. Being a Youth Leader at Church has been one of the most rewarding things Ive done in my life. I have learnt alot over the past 3+ years of leading youth at my local church. Transitioning from being a member of the youth for many years and being led by others, and now being blessed with the opportunity to lead myself. I have learnt some very valuable life lessons, which is why I wanted to make a video today about what has stuck with me from the last few years, and has allowed me to continue to be a youth leader for as long as I have. These are values passed down to me from others around me who have spent many years in youth leadership. These values can be applied to your life to help you when you find yourself in situations that require leadership, or if you have any desire to carry influence. For many years now it has been one of my goals to be someone who has influence over others in a positive manner. I have tried to follow this out through my position as a youth leader at my church, as well as here through this community called Better Than Yesterday. Some of the lessons learnt include being consistent, building relationships, providing energy, the WHY of Youth Leadership, the importance of being genuine, carrying influence and the responsibility you carry as a youth leader. In the society we live in today masculinity is looked down on. There is many factors that come into play which influence this outlook, a reason could be because of the various negative examples set men we looked up to or still do. Though when we zoom in on what genuine masculinity is supposed to be, we can realize that these men don't portray the characteristics of a real man. I'm the video today I discuss the example of Daniel from the Bible and explain the importance of taking responsibility as a character of genuine masculinity. Have you ever thought back to when you were younger, and how creative we once were? The world around you no longer encourages you to be creative, but rather encourages you to keep consuming, and keep buying. We are being made into the perfect consumer. The fact is, you cannot be at your creative best, when you are too busy consuming content for hours a day. We are always filling up every empty second with dopamine supplied from social media like instagram, tiktok, twitter, youtube, and netflix. There is nothing wrong with occasionally enjoying watching some content, but the issue comes when we are unable to be bored, and simply have to keep consuming. This is a topic that I have become quite passionate about when I realized how constantly consuming makes one unable to create. When you allow yourself to be bored is when you come up with new ideas and are able to create art, music, drama, content and stories. We need to stop consuming in such massive quantities and start to consume more meaningful art. This way we will enable our creativity to shine once again. “The end of 1STMAN” as a figure in self improvement, most of you might have heard of 1stman. So, what came to mind when you saw this video title? Here at BTY Michael and I were in shock when we came across this video. We have taken plenty of inspiration from Kris and can only thank him for all his contributions to the self improvement sphere. Therefore we decided to share our reactions and thoughts to the video. He had really insightful information to share about what is currently happening in the male self improvement industry. Thoughts on how opportunists are forming a negative image of the industry because of hypocritical advice being given to young men. This is to profit off the current algorithm. Could not remain there because of how their mindset changed due to their egos. If you have enjoyed this video and found value out of it. A stagnant person can be referred to one without recent growth or change. Many of us have been in a place of stagnation during our lives. While in this phase we ask ourselves, how do I move past this? In this episode Michael and I discuss how to stop being stagnant and begin to move forward again. It's natural to find oneself in a place of no growth or change, but one does not have to remain there long. When you become aware of the situation. It means that intentional choices should be made to get out of one's comfort zone, focus is regained and one remembers their purpose. These are but a few ways of moving past stagnation highlighted in the video. Thus when one applies the knowledge gained in the video change is inevitable. Achieving financial freedom. Everyone wants it, but how does one actually get there? In this episode, Daniel and I discuss what young people heading into their 20's or currently in their 20's can do to establish a level of financial literacy. What this does is equips one with the knowledge and wisdom to make the right decisions that lead to financial freedom. When leaving university, society pressures us to fall in line and become a part of the rat race. We discussed how to avoid this trap by educating oneself, applying discipline, accumulating lump sums, taking risks, and avoiding debt. If you are the type of young person that wants a life that looks different from what we see on television and mainstream media, then you are in the right place. Growing up in this era we as young men are exposed to different ways in which we can live our lives. Therefore we have opportunity to choose which lifestyle we want to live, one that is going to fulfill us. Having this in mind, it was important to discuss our viewpoint on the different lifestyles, like living more traditionally, being a successful playboy, a traveler and many others. Becoming aware of the positives and negatives of these paths, helps one to choose which path they'll go along. In this second part of our discussion we spoke about lifestyles of pursuing God through the church, pursuing Excitement through partying and going out, and pursuing comfort by staying at home and gaming and watching anime. Ryan Holiday's book 'Courage is Calling' is the first of his Stoic Virtue Series that goes over the four fundamental virtues. 'Courage is Calling' outlines how to overcome fear and become someone who has courage at their disposal. This is another episode of the BTY book club where we discuss books that are of interest to us, and hopefully to you. Ryan Holiday is a modern day Stoic philosopher and owner of the youtube channel called the Daily Stoic. His books on stoicism are world renowned, and since I love his channel and podcast so much - I wanted to delve deeper and give his books a read. I gave my thoughts on the book in this episode, and I hope you enjoyed listening, and decide for yourself if Courage is Calling is the book for you. Let us know of any books you recommend for us to read and review on the channel next time. Much Love and Sincerely, BTY
As a young person thinking too far ahead can confuse one. Fresh out of high school, our expectations are often high as we have this new chapter of life to explore! Soon after life can teach us some tough lessons as we realize that it takes time to build oneself up. Daniel and I discussed in today's episode where our expectations were a couple of years ago and wether or not those expectations were realistic or not. When comparing oneself to others, it can be easy to fall into the trap of thinking that you must be successful very early on in your life. We debated wether this is a good stance to take, and if not where should you set your expectations. If you enjoyed this video, please consider leaving a like and subscribing to our channel. We had the privilege of interviewing the co-founders of Art of Passion Apparel - A sportswear and casual clothing brand located right here in the Mother City. It was established in 2016 by Gerald Dube the Co-Founder. After having a few struggles navigating through teenage hood he got tired of being around negative crowds. The AOPA brand stands for Unity and Positive change. It aims to inspire people from all walks of life to become united. It also aims to inspire individuality and embracing our roots. This is what “sui generis” stands for, being of your own kind, in a class of your own, therefore we are all unique. We decided to interview Gerald and Takunda (a.k.a. risky) to find out how they started a successful clothing brand and business. We had a fantastic discussion all about what it takes to start a business- sourcing materials, networking, marketing and more. We spoke about what the brand stands for - pursuing your passion. Gerald and Risky spoke about their passions, how they found them and how long it took. We also spoke about the difference between your passion and your purpose. Please enjoy the fantastic conversation and share this video with someone who you think would find this interesting. Wholistic self improvement is bettering every aspect of your life. Why would you do this? To make your life easier. There are 4 layers to self improvement which I discuss in this video. In order to go from who you are right now to who you could be, these layers need to be tackled one after the other. The first layer being the fundamentals - improving one's mental and physical health. The second layer relates to how you interact with the world around you - your career, your relationships, your social skills. The third layer of self improvement is adding some real quality to your character, improving your hobbies, body language, attention span, becoming a generalist. The 4th layer of self improvement is like adding the cherry on top, and completing your journey. At any point in our lives we are able to improve, and it is our philosophy on this channel to constantly aim to be better than yesterday. Wholistic self improvement is a journey that never ends, and provides purpose and meaning for your life. If you know someone who needs to get on self improvement, send them this video. Let us know which layer you are currently working on, and consider leaving a like and subscribing for more content from Better than Yesterday. Sincerely, BTY
