Committed to ensuring access to affordable and innovative medicines, the company operates under the mantra, ‘Good Health Can't Wait'. Dr. Reddy's offers a comprehensive range of products and services, encompassing APIs, generics, branded generics, biosimilars, and OTC medications. Ahead of CPHI 2023 we interviewed Kalpesh Kumar Modi, VP and Head of Europe API Sales, Dr. Reddy's to explain their priorities. “We manufacture more than 200 APIs and specialise in complex APIs, including peptides, oncology, cardiovascular, and all other therapeutic categories.” says Kalpesh. “Dr. Reddy's is a vertically integrated pharma companies that can support customers with formulation expertise, improving development processes and timelines, and have global regulatory teams facilitating filings and early market launches..”  In 2023, the company recently became a ‘Water Positive‘ company, beating their 2025 target by two years. “We were among the first Indian companies to build a zero liquid discharge infrastructure into all our facilities. We are delighted to say that we are not sending a single kilogramme of waste to any landfill.” Dr Reddy's is committed to ESG principles, employing ‘green chemistry' to make API processes sustainable and work with suppliers who contribute to sustainable supply chain performance. Kalpesh explains API Plus, an initiative for emerging markets where customers don't have their own formulation facilities. “The core objective of API Plus is to ensure that patients of those countries can access high-quality, affordable medicines. We cooperate with local partners and support them with expertise, formulation, and technology.” Digitalisation is another major focus for Dr. Reddy's, says Kalpesh. “We are leveraging Industry 4.0 technologies to streamline operations and enhance data accuracy.” As an example of this, the company has created a platform called XCEED that enables customers to manage the complete inquiry and procurement process of Dr. Reddy's APIs in real-time.  Read full article

What do you know about veterinary medicine? It's alright—neither did we before we spoke with Mark Olcott, CEO of Vitus Vet. Turns out it takes a vet to understand there are challenges to running a veterinary practice beyond caring for sick animals. In an industry that still relies on fax machines to send medical records, veterinary practice owners struggle to manage payments, schedule appointments, and streamline back office workflows. Mark saw the problem firsthand when he was a vet managing his own practice, and he tells the story of Vitus Vet's origins when he met his co-founder Kalpesh Raval at the University of Maryland Robert H. Smith School of Business. Mark and Kalpesh took an idea they developed in one of their MBA courses and built a prototype, did extensive customer discovery, and laid the groundwork for their go-to-market strategy--and then pivoted the company soon after. Mark shares some of the lessons he has learned as a lifelong entrepreneur, from his first venture selling candy at the bus stop when he was twelve, all the way through to building a corporate culture at Vitus Vet. You can check out all the tools Vitus Vet is building to make the lives of vets and pet owners easier (and, of course, keeping those puppies and kittens happy and healthy) at Vitusvet.com, and you can follow them on Twitter @VitusVet.

Kalpesh Patel has decades of experience, and since they say experience is the best mentor, he shares them with us so that we too learn from them. He is truly an inspiring entrepreneur, and what is significant about him is that he is still very humble, down to earth regardless of his successes through the years. In this episode, we talked about how he brought Les Brown to the UK, what he did to make it possible, and how successful was it. We also get to discuss how Kalpesh deals with work-life balance. He shared that although you need to spend time with the people you love, your family, it is also important that when you have a passion that needs to be delivered to the world, you really have to do it. He then shares that he does not believe in the old school way of thinking that in order to pursue your passion, you have to give up everything. Instead he says that BALANCE is key because life in itself is unpredictable. We also tackled the importance of leverage, and how it helps you and your business grow. Kalpesh tell us what he is up to (business-wise) at the moment where he also discusses the importance of creativity, and innovation when going to business, which includes his latest venture, crowdfunding for tech ideas. His latest business is a crowdfunding concept and he explains how this works and how individuals/groups/organisation with great potential ideas can seek help from Kalpesh’ team, and how the public can join Kalpesh in order to help turn these ideas into reality.   Golden Nugget Round Question 1 – What would you tell your 25 Year Old Self? In this episode, we are joined by Kalpesh Patel, the one and only “Relentless Entrepreneur”. He is often dubbed as one of the most dynamic, and inspirational speaker in the UK. As an entrepreneur, his experience dates back to the age of 11. The great thing about him is that he is a resilient man, he had his ups and downs in both his personal and business life, but he still managed to bounce back and help others get better in both areas. In this episode, Kalpesh shares how his journey to success did not start and end with him getting into business and moving forward, rather that his success is a result of learning the hardships that his grandparents had to endure (given that they are of Indian descent). Kalpesh also shares the importance of the power of having the desire to “make something happen”. We also talked about how important “family” is. Kalpesh is a family-oriented guy who puts his family first for the decisions he made in life. Although some of his bad moments (in business and personal) roots from family influences, the best ones were too. We also tackled the importance of your “WHY” and it is really vital that you know yours too. Kalpesh also tackled  how powerful is the concept of STORY TELLING -- how it conceptualises everything, and how it puts things in perspective. He also talked about how important it is to appreciate what we have right now, as some people would endure so much hardships just to progress. Kalpesh knows that  “Learned DNA” can help your environment  to shape you. Goal Setting is key and linking that to a dream is also very important We also talked about how important it is to bounce back every time life knocks you down. These things don’t extend you any favours in life. – Kalpesh Patel Story telling is very powerful concept, it conceptualises everything, and it puts things in a context. – Kalpesh Patel Life will smack you in the face when you’re least expecting it. – Kalpesh Patel

A Small Voice: Conversations With Photographers

Kalpesh Lathigra was born and bred in London, England. He studied photojournalism at the London College of Printing (now the London College of Communication), before being awarded what was then a much sought-after traineeship with the Independent Newspaper, which at that time was renowned for a commitment to using excellent photography in a way that many national newspapers in the UK never really had in the past. Kalpesh went on to have a successful freelance career as a newspaper and magazine photograper, shooting features and portraits for most of the major British broadsheets and their weekend magazines and in 2000 he won a first prize (Arts, Singles) in the World Press Awards. A few years later he was awarded the W. Eugene Smith Fellowship for his long-term project about the lives of widows in India: Brides of Krishna. He is still a busy, jobbing editorial photographer, but, alongside that role, he has also developed his own personal practice in which he has attempted to straddle the invisible divide between editorial, documentary photographer and a more authored, artistic sensibility - a state of affairs that we spend much of the interview mulling over. His first book, 'Lost In The Wilderness', which he funded with a Kickstarter campaign, will be published later this Autumn and is the result of 5 years work documenting the native American Lakota Sioux community of the Pine Ridge reservation in South Dakota, USA. (Check links below for updates.) In Episode 005 Kalpesh discusses: Use of the label 'artist'; book project - 'Lost In The Wilderness'; why working is good for the soul; a friendship with Ralph Fiennes; changing his approach to the story; the fight against cliche, the World Press controversy and he danger of cliques
