On this episode of Global Roaming's new 'On the Radar' series we are joined by the ABC's Asia editor, Karishma Vyas who gives us an inside track into the regime's tactics as the Iran and US peace deal is negotiated and an insight the scam centres popping up across Laos, Myanmar, and Cambodia that she recently visited. In May Karishma was one of the only Western reporters allowed to report inside Iran giving her a rare glimpse into how the regime and Iranians feel as a peace deal is negotiated.Karishma says the regime is passing off the toll system for the ships passing the Strait of Hormuz as an 'administration fee'. Meanwhile, on the streets of Tehran she found women gathering to support the regime, the same regime that has been accused of violent suppression of its people months earlier. So what is real and what is propaganda?Guest presenter: Karishma Vyas, ABC Asia editorHosts: Hamish Macdonald and Geraldine Doogue
Iran inviting the media to report from within their borders is rare but recently the ABC attended events in Tehran as part of an uncommon chance to peer inside.
What if your biggest money block has nothing to do with money? In this deeply insightful and empowering coaching session, Christine works with Karishma, a trauma-informed relationship coach who feels torn between following her purpose and contributing financially to her family in a more traditional way. Even though Karishma loves her work and knows she's helping people transform their lives, she struggles with inconsistent income, self-doubt, and the pressure to prove she can "make it" as an entrepreneur. But as the conversation unfolds, Christine uncovers something much deeper: a childhood belief formed at just six years old that still shapes how Karishma sees her capabilities today. Together they explore how early experiences around intelligence, performance, and worth can quietly sabotage confidence in adulthood—even when someone is deeply gifted and aligned with their purpose. Christine also offers a refreshing and nuanced conversation around feminine energy, contribution, entrepreneurship, accessibility, and what it truly means to be an "independent woman." If you've ever struggled to monetize your gifts, doubted your abilities, or felt conflicted between purpose and financial security, this episode will deeply resonate. Press play to discover why your purpose may not be the problem—and how old beliefs could be blocking the abundance you're meant to receive. Consider / Ask Yourself Do you feel deeply aligned with your purpose but financially stuck? Are old beliefs about intelligence, capability, or worth affecting your confidence? Do you feel pressure to prove your value through income or productivity? Are you trying to fit yourself into a version of success that doesn't actually align with your soul? Key Insights and A-Ha's Purpose-driven work and entrepreneurship require very different skill sets. Childhood experiences around failure or "not being good enough" can shape adult money beliefs. Neurodivergence can impact confidence, communication, and traditional ideas of success. Contribution isn't measured solely by income or productivity. Feminine magnetism grows when we align with authenticity, purpose, and service—not pressure and proving. How to Deepen the Work Reflect on the earliest memories connected to feeling "not capable" or "not smart enough." Notice where you may be measuring your worth through financial contribution alone. Reconnect with the deeper mission and purpose behind your work. Explore ways to simplify your business so you can spend more time in your zone of genius. In this conversation, I explored with Karishma Galani the way that Pratham Education Foundation, one of the largest NGOs in India, is integrating AI capabilities and platforms into its work reaching millions of underserved young people with quality education. She leads a lot of the digital innovation and AI work at Pratham, building on her long career in tech startups, research & development and venture capital. What happens when a casual video call, a sister's nudge, and a moment of boredom collide? Sometimes, a creator is born.On the latest episode of Karishma Konnect, we sit down with Charumathi, popularly known as Miss Miracle, a name that feels uncannily fitting for a journey shaped by timing, trust, and transformation. Starting her content journey five years ago, post-lockdown, Charumathi never set out to crack the algorithm. What began as a fun experiment slowly turned into a full-fledged creative life shared with millions.Today, Miss Miracle is best known for her relatable mono-acting videos, short comedy sketches, and lifestyle-driven content across YouTube and Instagram. While YouTube became her foundation, home to long-form videos, vlogs, and milestone moments, Instagram helped her connect rapidly with younger audiences through highly shareable reels centred around school life, friendships, and family dynamics. Her content does not shout for attention. It mirrors everyday emotions, making it instantly familiar. In the episode, Charumathi opens up about how social media did not just give her visibility, it gave her back her confidence. From being a bold school head girl to feeling invisible in college, her journey reflects the quiet identity shifts many young creators experience. One of the most powerful moments she shares is the rain-soaked chaos behind her one million subscriber celebration, proof that behind every milestone is a very human story.Five years in, her philosophy remains grounded. Consistency over hacks, love over money, and responsibility toward the audience above all else. This episode is not just about content creation. It is about the unseen emotional labour behind the reels and the accidental magic that keeps creators going.

The global handcraft market is worth more than a trillion dollars. Yet, particularly in rural areas, many highly skilled craftspeople live with inconsistent incomes, no social safety nets and ongoing threats to their cultural heritage. There is rising interest their wares, for some of the same reasons that secondhand is booming - uniqueness, story, the human touch in an increasingly disconnected, AI-obsessed world. But do we really see the artisans behind the products we buy? What is the true value of skilled artisanship? Where do different worldviews, timelines, rhythms and Indigenous wisdoms come into it? And how can western designers work with diverse communities in authentically sustainable and ethical ways? Co-creation is a buzz word, but what does it really mean? "To co-create, we might need to unlearn top-down western ways of thinking," says my guest this week, Karishma Singh Kelsey, who's leading our new course on Wardrobe Crisis Academy."Working with artisans and micro-enterprises often requires a paradigm shift away from entrenched (and usually unexamined!) 'I am better than you' ways of thinking. It recognises that when different worldviews come together on an equal footing, we can create even more interesting outcomes."If you find the Episode valuable, please help us share it.Find links and further reading at thewardrobecrisis.comSupport the show on Substack - wardrobecrisis.substack.comTell us what you think. For more on what's moving the markets, we turn to Winnie Hsu, Asia Equities Reporter in Hong Kong. Plus - America says its actions in Venezuela are about restoring order in its own backyard.
