Lori Bertoni, a fitness instructor with 12 years experience, master NLP Practionioner and Coach, Master Hypnotherapist, Master TimeLine Therapist says "Empowering women to live a life they deserve is my passion." Lori was a guest on Episode 76. It's always nice to have guests come back on the show. Welcome back. The blog post Lise wrote I can't be who you want me to be a few days before recording this interview sparked todays conversation. The pit of despair is an awful place to be.  You try to reach family and friends, to find people to validate.  Seek and you shall find. While your friends and family mean well, they are not helping you to get out of the pit of despair.   In order to get out,  start telling a different story.  We have many thoughts throughout the day.  Only 1300 of them are original thoughts.  All the other ones are just loops that keep replaying. You have to learn to chose differently.  Change the Chanel. While it required effort, it doesn't have to be hard. This reminds me of the interview with Marsha Nievas, Tourist to Transformation. We need to set our goals and change the programming.  Read the books, listen to podcasts invest in other things.  But if you are stuck for more than 30 days, you need to seek professional help.  A coach will get you there faster and will usually result in costing less in the long run. What does the future version of you look like?   When our emotions are high, intelligence is low.  We can't make logical decisions while we are in a high emotional state. EFT, Emotional Freedom Technique can help.  We will have Lori Bertoni on the show again, for a whole show dedicated to this subject. Pain is actually an acronym for Pay Attention Inside Now.  If you have pain, that means you have not been listening to your intuition. Gratitude is the best way to get out of the pit of despair.  What lessons have you learned.  Life doesn't happen to us, it happens for us. Seek the solutions.  Shorten the bounce back rate.  True emotions only last 17 seconds.  After that, we chose to live there.  What we focus on expands.   Lori is offering our listeners a free 30 minute discovery session.  You can reach Lori at: Website:  Loribertoni.com Email: info@loribertoni.com If you have any questions for Lori, Please send them to Trichatlg@gmail.com.  Send us a voice memo from your smart phone.  Be sure to add Question for Lori in the subject line. 2016 is a new year for Active Mommas.  This year, I vow to keep it simple. Keep my life simple.  The new show format will feature  interviews and episodes on a variety of topics and on different schedules.  The topics will be based on what is going on in my life at the time and the lives of my loved ones.  This first episode is about addiction and mental health.  The last few months, I have heard the story a fellow athlete shared of her addiction and recovery, a best friend (that I grew up with )having faced addiction in the eye and won the battle now struggling with depression, and an colleague sharing her story of her husbands depression and addiction.  Andrew is a Addiction and Mental Health nurse with 10 years experience.  He shared his views on the subject which helped me understand this a little better. To reduce stress, have realistic expectations, take shortcuts when you can or get help from others. Be mindful of your social calander, and watch your food/drink intake. If you find you are getting the “blues” talk to someone stay active or window shop. The perfect gift: Jamberry Nails. Crystal is a new consultant. Yippy! Crystal talks about life with a new puppy. Lise is sick for Thanksgiving weekend. Lise must rest up and feel better before her half marathon this weekend and her full marathon the weekend after that. Crystal makes Pumpkin Pie to satisfies her craving. She managed to make it gluten free and dairy free. Lochlin is playing the guitar during our break. Kids bed time can be a tricky thing as they get older. People gain most of their weight at this time of the year. Canadian thanksgiving, the first weekend in october, starts the string to parties and gatherings and ends on New Years. That is 3 months worth of eating. Lise really should have been good this weekend, as her A Race in only 2 weeks away, but instead she stuffed herself with gluten and sugar. How do you start the Paleo diet? That is a questions the Active Mommas are asked all the time. Put the chicken in a large bowl and pour the mustard sauce over it.  Mix together until the chicken is smothered in the sauce.  Stick in the fridge to marinate and get happy. One of the best kitchen tools I have is a hand held mandoline - thanks mom! This baby helpes me create super thin slices for my apples and onions and all the slices are uniform, aka they cook evenly and look good! I tossed them with a little coconut oil and divided them equally over two glass baking dishes. Pour the chicken over the apples and onion submerging the apples and onions in the sauce while creating a single layer of chicken on top. Season again with salt and pepper.  Cover both trays with aluminum foil and bake in the oven at 350 for 40-50 minutes.  Check and turn halfway through. A note on cook time.  I’ve learned through living in different places and cooking in other people’s kitchen that oven temperatures vary greatly.  Your oven dial might say 350, but the internal temperature might only reach 325.  Thus, I check on the chicken at 20 minutes, 40 minutes, and then every 5 after that.  The tray on the bottom only took 40 minutes while the tray on top took 45. It’s all dependent on how much food you have in the oven and how your oven works temperature wise. Tada! This dish was as creamy, tangy and delicious as I remember.  I liked using chicken thighs because they stay so moist.  But I think chicken breasts will work just as well because the creamy sauce would keep everything moist. ….time to eat! Lise and Crystal haven't been able to record all summer. Lises parents are moving from their big house to a small cottage. Letting go of things is hard. Crystal went away the first week and the second week was Grant and Sarah's music camp. After that apt and busy schedules make it impossible to get together. Cam and Jonah did 4 weeks of summer camp and loved it. Kids are settling into the school year. Lise is happy with Jonahs teacher while Lise doesn't know Camerons teacher. Crystal boys are learning french from grade 1. Crystal got a puppy, a 2lbs shee-poo. Lochlin, Crystals 7 year old, broke his ankle. Life is very hectic in that house. The husbands are away. Last week , Lise recorded with Jaye Ivany from Gold Canyon. Crystal just loves the Cafe collections candles. Crystal has issues with dairy and feels is is harder to be dairy free than gluten free. Eating out is hard. Crystal went for allergy testing and found out she may be allergic to preservatives. New epicure fall and winter catalogue is out. Be sure to check out http://crystalhollingshead.myepicure.com/en-ca/recipe.aspx?p= Camping the last week of the summer and Lise read Gone Girl and Sharp Objects from Gillian Flynn. Recipe of the week. Raw Vegan. Banana Oats cookies. 2 bananas and 1 cup oats, smoosh smooth. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes. You can add nuts or chocolate chips. http://imgfave.com/view/3222333 Motivational quote of the week. If we are not a little bit uncomfortable every day, we're not growing...All the good stuff is outside our comfort zone.. ' Tammy Hudgins from “A Finishing Touch” and “I was a FB Nobody” talks about her favorite subject...networking. There are other ways to support people. It's not only by using their services or buying from them. Going out there and meeting people is essential if you want to grow your business. It's about forming bonds and friendship. Facebook is great for the initial contact, but you still need to go the extra step. You need to take those extra steps to succeed. Dance Cards event are when the organizer will pair up 2 people who will take it upon themselves to meet up. It's a great way to get out there and meet up. Tammy tries to compliment the business as well. Pamela Wood from Barrie Mompreneurs put them on monthly as well. Kids are back to school and it allows Moms to get out during the day. Routine is good. A step beyond a Dance Cards are the networking events. The Mo-Mondays, Tampon Tuesdays. Be prepared and come with your business literature with you. When you are there, walk over and introduce yourself to someone. Step out of your comfort level. Adding the personal is important as you are doing business with the person and not the business. Support can be in different forms. Sometimes someone is looking or a service or a product you can recommend. You can share someones information so others can look into it. Social Media is not a place to trash a company or a person. It's public. Instead, send a private message. Proper Social Media Etiquette. You are putting your own personal reputation on the line. Everyone has their own opinions. We are all independent contractors in business that we do not own. Your social media presence affects how the company is viewed. If you feel strongly about a situation, you need to go to the small business and give them the opportunity to fix the issue. When you are not 100%, you must be ready to step back and re-connect with your thoughts. There are many reps for the same companies. There are different ways to support them. Tammy will only host a party Jockey person to person with Jyllian Khunen. It's up to you to make your own decisions. What to wear at networking events. Is it business, is it casual? It really depends on the environment. Dress to be comfortable to decrease your stress level. You need to be yourself. Business cards. When and where to hand them out. Are they useful? Post card may be a better idea. With something enticing on it. Give them a reason to keep your card. Epicure Ceaser Rim is the ultimate rim. It has a nice bite to it according to Tammy. http://crystalhollingshead.myepicure.com/Default.aspx?TabId=357&language=en-CA On a side note. For Moms getting out there and starting to get their name out there, its great to start with Facebook. If you are shy, working within the group. When you are comfortable, then go out and meet them in person. Talk to people and share your ideas. You can type in the search bar what you are looking for. IMPORTANT. Please read the rules in the group. FOLLOW those rules. Tammy teaches “I was a facebook nobody” that I plan taking in the near future.  https://www.facebook.com/wasanobody The rule of thumb is to make your business visible once a day. Be sure to add your personality to your business pager. You need to make your presence in 3-5 groups everyday. A minimun 1 hour day on facebook. You will see a difference in business. Tammy spends an hour in a morning on facebook. Tammy can post when she is looking for support as she has created some relationships. Find Tammy Hudgins online. Here are a few links to connect with her. https://www.facebook.com/tammyafinishingtouch https://www.facebook.com/wasanobody https://www.facebook.com/groups/SimcoeRegionNetwork/ https://www.facebook.com/groups/bizzyhomebased/

Its a dark rainy day.  Last day of school for the kids yesterday.  The kids are excited and happy to be done.  Traffic was horrible this last week for Lise.   Super duper long soccer night.  Still doesn't compare to the baseball schedule Crystal has to deal with.   Early morning recording schedule this week just to get it in.  Lises' kids really wanted to swim in their new pool.  Crystal got her pool filled this week as well.  It's been too cold to use it before this week. This school year went by so fast. Cameron and Jonah had great teachers again this year. Lise spent more time in Camerons' class this year as a volunteer.   Lise is excited about starting her vacation.  Concentrating on training for her race in just over a week.  Her first sprint triathlon. Sometimes things just don't seem to workout the way you planned.  Lise got her run in at 10:30 at night on a sat night.  Sunday morning Lise cleaned up before the inlaws came over to get the pool liner in.  That resulted in Lise missing her bike and plyometric workout. Crystals house isn't up to her usual standard as she has been out everyday this week Summer brain drain.  Cameron has the worse handwritting of his class as Lise has observed.  So Lise picked up 2 smashbooks for the kids.  This may help them doodle, write and glue things in there.   Crystal has purchased the workbooks and after the first few weeks they end up just sitting there. Crystal bought the kids journal for their up coming trip. Lise will most likely have some word games over the summer. Cam and Jonah have been reading the Captain Underpants series. They love those books and are encouraged to keep reading. Website of what the teachers recommend to prevent the brain drain. Family book club, have the kids plan a trip, learn more by researching on the internet are just some ideas. Plan ahead when travelling.  Pack your own snacks.  It's a little more work, but it is cheaper and you will reduce your risk of eating susbstances you are looking to avoid. Some of the snacks include eggs, nuts, seeds, jerky, fresh fruit, raw veggies, dried fruit, apple slices with nut butter, kale chips, meat balls, cucumber cups are just some ideas. Homemade salsa with the Epicure spices is really easy to make and you can make it the way you like it. Grant and Sarah's summer music camp.  July 15th to the 19th.  No musical experience necessary.   Cooper and Lochlin had their music recital on sunday.  Cooper sang and played the guitar.  They both did very well.  Music lessons will resume in the summer time Carole and Lise in The Kitchen:  Chicken Curry and Coleslaw. check it out! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJ0jzU3426o&feature=c4-overview&list=UUf51E9oJMQAGL03v-Ca9cWA Until next time, have a great active week.
