Following their disappointing 1-0 defeat to Drogheda United last week, Galway United are on the road this Friday (13th February 2026) to St. Patrick's Athletic. It's not been a happy hunting ground for John Caulfield's men in recent times, having drawn twice and lost three times in their last five visits, including last year's FAI Cup quarter-final after extra-time. Galway United last won in Inchicore in the FAI Cup in 2017, but their last league victory was a 3-1 success in March 2026 thanks to goals from Vinny Faherty, John Sullivan and Enda Curran. Vinny Faherty, who represented the club in four spells between 2007 and 2020, scored nearly 50 goals during his Galway United career and also represented St. Patrick's Athletic on two occasions.  He's been chatting to Galway Bay FM's Darren Kelly and they started by looking back on the Drogheda game. == Kick-off at Richmond Park on Friday is 7.45pm and we'll have LIVE coverage on 'Over The Line' on Galway Bay FM.

London Case - Not about Truth and AccountabilityIn May 2022 a civil case was launched against me in England. The civil trial will begin on 9 March in London, and conclude on St Patrick's Day.There are some aspects of the case I can comment on and others I cannot at this time. Suffice to say that this is an unorthodox claim against me about events which occurred 29 and 53 years ago. In short, three Claimants, seek to hold me personally liable for three bombings committed by the Irish Republican Army (IRA) in March 1973 (at the Old Bailey), in February 1996 (at London Docklands) and in June 1996 (at the Manchester Arndale Shopping Centre). Many innocent people were seriously hurt, three were killed in the bombings. The Claimants were injured and have suffered as a result. They deserve nothing but sympathy for what they have gone through. So do all those who were killed or injured in the conflict. And their families.  I regret all the deaths and injuries.People are entitled to use the law. However, this case is brought decades after these incidents and decades after the Good Friday Agreement brought peace to us all.   I anticipate, from public statements made by the Claimants' solicitors, that a number of former British Army, and RUC/PSNI witnesses will give hearsay evidence that because I was a senior republican during the conflict I must be responsible for these specific events.Stand-up to a Genocidal BullyAs the world ponders the implications of US President Trump's talk of an ‘armada' heading for Iran; or his latest threat of tariffs against Canada; or his ongoing threats against Cuba, Greenland and Europe; the so-called ceasefire in the Gaza Strip which he brokered in October has been breached over 1300 times by the Israeli apartheid regime. 509 Palestinians have been killed. In just one morning last week, Israeli attacks on Gaza City and Khan Younis left 31 Palestinians, including six children, dead. The limited medical facilities were overwhelmed with the dead and wounded.Streets of MinneapolisI have been very fortunate over the years to see Bruce Springsteen live. The concerts and the music are amazing. The Boss's lyrics are sharp and he is unafraid to sing about the politics that anger and outrage him. ‘Born in the USA' is an anthem against the War in Vietnam. ‘Streets of Philadelphia' highlighted the aids crisis.Last week he turned his ire on the behaviour of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE )agents.Springsteen dedicated the song – Streets of Minneapolis - to the “people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbours and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good”. Well done Bruce.

Readings for Sunday, February 8, 2026 - Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time. Year A FIRST READING: Isa 58:7-10 Ps 112:4-5, 6-7, 8-9. "A Light rises in the darkness for the upright." SECOND READING: 1 Cor 2:1-5 GOSPEL ACCLAMATION (John 8:12). Alleluia, alleluia! I am the light of the world, says the Lord. The man who follows me will have the light of life. GOSPEL: Matt 5:13-16 The readings this weekend clearly point us to how we are to live as disciples, to be generous, merciful and just, and to share of oneself, a sharing that hurts and can be a cross to carry. But with God's grace, we can be that disciple. Salt, light, a city. +++++ References: Fr Paul W. Kelly; Kersten, J. (2013). New —St. Joseph Sunday Missal, Canadian Edition. Each February Ireland celebrates St Brigid, one of the most beloved figures in Irish history. She is woven into the landscape, the calendar and the culture, yet a simple question hangs over her story. Did she ever really exist? You may recall a very short episode on this topic last year. Since then, I have rethought the evidence, changed my view and this episode takes a much deeper look at the history. For centuries St Brigid has been remembered as a saint who stood alongside St Patrick at the dawn of Irish Christianity. In recent decades, however, a growing argument has claimed she was never a historical figure at all, but a pagan goddess transformed into a Christian saint. This episode is a journey through the turbulent fifth century to examine the evidence. Drawing on early medieval sources, folklore, ritual, and modern research to explore St Brigid the woman, Brigid the goddess, and try and determine where the truth lies.Support the show at www.patreon.com/irishpodcastSources and Further Reading: Dictionary of Irish Biography Brigit: https://www.dib.ie/biography/brigit-brighid-brid-bride-bridget-a0961 Johnson, Elva Making St Brigit real in the early middle ageshttps://muse.jhu.edu/verify?url=%2Fpub%2F423%2Farticle%2F941740&r=972076Lawrence, Lisa Pagan Imagery in the Early Lives of Brigit: A Transformation from Goddess to Saint? A Clare native has been remembered as a “man of determination” whose perseverance had a positive impact on the lives of many. A ceremony has taken place in St Patrick's Hall in Corofin to celebrate the life and contribution of Clare Leader Forum co-founder Dermot Hayes. The celebration of life of one of Corofin's proudest sons opened with the voice of Luka Bloom singing the words “don't be afraid of the light that shines within you”. The following hour would be filled with tributes from family members and loved ones, each of whom benefitted from the light Dermot beamed into their lives. The native of Kells in Corofin, who passed away earlier this month at the age of 71, was a towering figure in activism in Clare, co-founding the Clare Leader Forum in 1992, serving as chair of the Clare branch of the Irish Kidney Association, and playing a key role in countless campaign across the last five decades. Humanist celebrant Pat Clarke-Browne says he championed the cause of countless people in Clare and beyond. Among the gifts presented to offer a representation of the person Dermot was were family photos, a slew of awards, local newspapers, a phone which he used to listen religiously to listen to his favourite music as well as Clare FM, and a copy of the W.B. Yeats poem ‘The Lake Isle of Innisfree'. His sister Andrea, who referred to him as ‘Dynamo Dermot', says that despite the odds, his life was one well-lived. The over 200 attendees heard that in his private life, Dermot has a devoted husband and father who loved nothing more than being a Dad and told his children everyday how proud of them he was. His wife Marian told the congregation that looking after her father inspired his daughter Aimee to become a nurse. Aimee says he was a “legend” of his time and the best dad she could've wished for. Dermot is survived by his wife Marian, daughters Marese and Aimee and wide circle of family and friends. May he rest in peace.

Kliq This: The Kevin Nash Podcast

This episode of Kliq This wastes no time setting the tone. Kevin Nash and Sean Oliver come in hot, questioning the rituals people pretend still matter and poking holes in the way grown adults convince themselves certain days are special. The conversation immediately makes it clear that this is not a celebration episode. It is a reality check delivered with zero patience. From there, the show spirals into the kind of unpredictable territory listeners expect but never quite anticipate. Cultural habits, public hypocrisy, and modern obsessions are dissected in a way that feels reckless on the surface and oddly precise underneath. The humor lands because it is rooted in lived experience, not hot takes for clicks. The episode also taps into how technology, media, and trends quietly reshape behavior without anyone stopping to ask why. The discussion veers into places most podcasts would never touch, blending uncomfortable truths with offhand jokes that linger longer than expected. It is the kind of segment that makes listeners laugh first and then pause afterward. As the episode unfolds, Nash brings perspective that only comes from decades in wrestling, entertainment, and watching cycles repeat themselves. Observations about performers, audiences, and what actually matters when the lights are on cut through nostalgia and online noise. There is an underlying question throughout about what draws money versus what just draws reactions. By the end, the episode feels less like a recap of topics and more like a snapshot of how these conversations naturally evolve when nothing is off limits. It is loose, opinionated, and unapologetically unfiltered. For listeners who prefer honesty over polish, this one delivers exactly that.
