Franne Golde is an award winning, grammy nominated songwriter.  Her first worldwide hit was recorded by the Iconic Diana Ross and platinum hits by Whitney Houston, Christina Aguilera, Faith Hill and Celine Dion, just to name a few.  We first saw Franne at the Maria Shriver’s Move for Minds event with the Women’s Alzheimer’s Movement, where she courageously shared her husband Paul’s fight with early onset Alzheimers.  Franne wears many hats and today we are discussing her latest project and reinvention, something all women want “Magic Pants!” Franne shares her story of perseverance and why, as well as how, she created this new line of clothing out of her kitchen with zero knowledge about this business.  Her first sales were at her son’s school fundraiser. Writing music was her passion but then the transition of the digital age and internet completely turned her world and earning power upside down.  She had to pivot.  It wasn’t easy, but then the phone call came...Adam Glassman, Creative Director of O Magazine, called and said we want to feature your new pants in Oprah’s magazine.  He then dubbed them “Magic Pants!”  These form fitting, wrinkle free, pants are great for travel too. Her ability to juggle motherhood, caretaker, and businesswoman all while facing the tragedy of her husband’s illness is awe inspiring.  Franne is a role model for us all. As a comic, Wendy has teased Oprah Winfrey in the daytime and made Craig Ferguson laugh at night. She is a force and has an amazing attitude about life.  Wendy is a survivor of pancreatic cancer, which is a miracle in itself.  She will make you laugh, but most of all her words are inspiring and thoughtful.  Her most recent project is a one woman show called Ripe.   You can’t help but feel the joy from Wendy’s spirit and humor.  Again, yet another fabulous woman with an inspiring story to tell. O.K., you’ve  made a commitment to make a change or create something new in your life.  You have gotten clear, done your research, and made a plan, but now the fear of failure and self doubt starts creeping into your thoughts.  This is natural and everyone battles the dreaded self doubt. One of our favorite tools is to reach for inspirational books which help to switch your thoughts.  Lana’s favorite book, The Obstacle is the Way, helps her to pull herself up by her bootstraps by reading how many failures and obstacles great leaders have had to overcome.  Somehow, knowing others have been able to do it helps to bolster you back up.   Commitment also gives you the fortitude to keep going and prove to yourself, or maybe even others you can succeed and not be a quitter.  Some days you have to unplug and take a break or pause to get to a less overwhelmed place and refocus your thoughts. Are you making excuses or are you just fearful?   How you deal with life and all of it’s obstacles comes down to attitude. Flipping things upside down can make all the difference. Write down your issues in your Roadblock section and then take a closer look.  Is it really a roadblock, or is it an excuse? We believe you will find a positive solution to breakthrough that roadblock and keep moving forward reaching your goals and ambitions.  Most importantly...Never Quit!   Books mentioned: The Obstacle is the Way, Ryan Holiday Change Your Thoughts Change Your Life, Wayne Dyer   For Links and  full show notes go here: www.LadiesRoadmap.com   Ready to get started manifesting your dreams and desires? #53: Mending Mental and Physical Abuse with Annette Oltmans

Abuse is a difficult subject no one wants to talk about.  Annette Oltmans has founded The Mend Project as a resource for victims of what she has named “Covert or Double  Abuse”. Domestic Abuse comes in many different forms and much of it is not the hitting and violence we commonly think of when we hear the term abuse.  Often times it is a hidden abuse which is more insidious and can be the most destructive. Annette calls this “Covert Abuse” and gives us a visual to help explain this debilitating cycle.  This ongoing behavior will erode not only the relationship but the person’s confidence and can deeply affect and traumatize their lives. The Mend Project works to help first responders, which could be you, me, or a person of authority, on how best to respond to victims.  We think we know what to say, and yet, we can innocently use the wrong words or advice and be inflicting more harm all over again. This is named “Double Abuse” which was based on not only her experience, but also what she learned after interviewing hundreds of victims. Double abuse is described as when an ill-informed family or friend ignores the voice of the victim and instead defines the situation by their own wrong ideas, perspectives or biases.  Many times this leads the family and friends to impose harsh expectations of how the victim should react and respond, even giving them further consequences if they don’t comply. It is an eye opening issue. The Mend Project is starting a new conversation about abuse and one we all need to hear. Today we are talking about this eye opening topic with Dr. Anne Marie McNeill, a board-certified dermatologist.  As a Vulvar Specialist,  women come to her from all over the country. Dr. McNeill educates us on the differences in non surgical vs. surgical vaginal rejuvenation and how it works.  The effects and benefits may surprise you and give you a new perspective on this curious procedure. If you've ever been embarrassed by an unexpected "leak" while laughing, coughing or sneezing, urinary stress incontinence could be to blame. This condition occurs when the pelvic floor muscles become weakened, usually due to pregnancy, menopause or other changes to your body. As a result, controlling bladder leakage in certain situations can be difficult or even impossible. Along with noticeable improvements in vaginal laxity and dryness, urinary stress incontinence can be reduced or even eliminated completely after treatment. For many women, this procedure is a life-changing experience that can not only enhance their intimate relationships but also help them to feel more like themselves again.   Questions answered: What are the risks? How long is the recovery? What should I expect? Who is the best candidate? How many treatments are necessary? Is it painful? How long do the effects of the treatments last? What do you experience during the procedure? How long before I can resume sexual activity? Join us as we bring you along to the lovely Magnolia Wellness Center in Costa Mesa, CA.  Acupuncture and other progressive alternative medicine is on the rise and we talk about the process and why they work with wellness expert, owner and Acupuncturist Angela Sinnett. Many of us think of acupuncture as traditional oriental medicine with people who came from China or Japan.  This 5’8 blue eyed, blonde woman and her beautiful, feminine wellness center is the new paradigm in the world of acupuncture and alternative medicine.  Angela describes the procedure and how she determines the needs of each client and where to place the needles for their individual concerns. “Fine sterile needles are placed in specific points of the body or vortexes of energy.  You have meridian systems in the body which is similar to the way the blood flows through the cardiovascular system. Energy flows through the meridian systems and when things get blocked, imagine a kink in a water hose that stops the flow of water, acupuncture unblocks the free flow of energy so your body can heal itself.”  Acupuncture has been legal in the United States since the 70’s and now is the fastest growing medicine in the United States. Angela shares her story of re-invention and how she followed her instincts to pivot from selling Pfizer Pharmaceuticals to a career as an acupuncturist and health practitioner.  Lana and JoJami describe their experience and benefits received from this ancient practice. #36: Energy Flows Where Attention Goes with Sheila Darcey

Play Episode Listen Later Nov 16, 2018 27:02

Have you ever felt that you do your work every day, but there’s something more inside you that you want to still express? Today’s guest at first glance seems a bit of an anomaly, a cutting edge business woman with a career as a digital innovator whose mission, as a consciousness artist, is to help others  transform and heal their emotions through art and poetry. Sheila Darcey shares an intimate conversation about the deep responsibility she feels as a second generation Filipino immigrant to take care of her family and make the most out of the opportunities she has been given.   She talks of reaching the pinnacle in her career, yet feeling there was something missing in her life.  Returning to her artistic roots and tapping into her own unconscious mind through her artistic sketching served as a tool for her own healing and enlightenment.   Sheila describes her art as a form of daily meditation and says,“The beauty of art is in the process of creation itself.  To be in the state of flow allows for unfiltered concepts and thoughts which also serves as a way to connect with others in a way that brings forth your whole self.  I want people to connect with the process as much as the outcome, to create without over-thinking or analyzing, to create without fear, to create without expectations and to create because it’s fun. It’s about being in a safe place to quiet the mind and spark the child-like curiosity we sometimes lose in our busy lives.” Energy flows where attention goes… Sheila talks the importance of being present and how she tests and holds herself accountable. Her authentic voice will leave you feeling inspired to journal or sketch yourself to a more luminous version of your true self. Subscribe & Review in iTunes Are you subscribed to the podcast? Lylah Ledner and her husband decided they wanted a more tranquil lifestyle.  She shares how her husband read an article that resonated so deeply with him he could not shake it. It said,  “You aren’t free until you grow your own food.” So off they went, from living in New York, with stressful careers, to purchasing a 3 acre parcel in the desert of Scottsdale, Arizona.  Together, they studied Permaculture and turned the land into a beautiful organic farm and even added a menagerie of adorable goats.  They began hosting “Farm to Table” dinners and their popularity quickly spread. Her family not only sells the beautiful vegetables they grow at the local farmers market but Lylah learned how to make all sorts of wonderful products from all the goat’s milk.  Check out their 2014 Good Food, award winning, Goat Milk Sea Salt Caramels!  Lylah would have never imagined the added bonus which came out of this new venture.  She and her daughter have gone into business together and have a gorgeous line of Organic Skin Care called  (TSF Botanicals) using plants and goat’s milk from the farm. By slowing down, Lylah says she finally has the space she needed to make more time to think and create.  Lylah shares her thoughts on staying ageless in mind and spirit through journaling and her love of “the white board!” For full show notes go to: www.ladiesroadmap.com  Ready to get started manifesting your dreams and desires?
