World-renowned plastic surgeon Dr. Terry Dubrow (star of Botched) sits down with Randall Kaplan for a raw, inspiring conversation on rising from poverty in Los Angeles to medical excellence at UCLA and Yale, the mentors who changed his life, and what it really takes to build a top practice in Newport Beach. We cover career pivots, boldness vs. fear, medical training, research & publishing, and wild rock-n-roll stories with his brother Kevin DuBrow of Quiet Riot—plus practical, step-by-step success frameworks you can use today. If you're chasing excellence in medicine, entrepreneurship, or any high-stakes field, this episode is your blueprint. What You'll Learn • Humble beginnings & grit: Growing up with a single mom in LA, learning self-reliance, and the mindset that formed his drive to “figure it out and get it together.” • Choosing a path (and changing it): Why dentistry felt empty, how volunteering in the UCLA ER “lit” him up, and the decision to take pre-med coursework at Yale while earning a master's. • Mentorship that transforms careers: The life-altering lecture by Dr. Mal Lesavoy, how Terry chased him down the hallway, joined his lab, and authored 23 surgical papers—learning that publishing is currency in academic medicine. • The power of boldness: Specific, repeatable tactics for approaching mentors (be authentic, add value, do the homework) and why “clever and bold” beats “smart” alone. • Quiet Riot, Ozzy, & loyalty: Unfiltered stories about Kevin DuBrow, Randy Rhoads, Ozzy Osbourne, sold-out Forum concerts—plus hard lessons on loyalty and the realities of entertainment. • From residency to practice: The old-school general surgery track, complex reconstructive flap cases, and the leap from LA to Newport Beach practice (and what unexpectedly made it work). Guest Bio — Dr. Terry DubrowDr. Terry Dubrow is a board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon, star of the hit TV show Botched, and a nationally recognized expert in complex reconstruction and cosmetic surgery. He trained at UCLA and completed advanced academic work at Yale, where he honed a research mindset that led to dozens of publications early in his career. A facelift may be the star of the show, but it's rarely a solo act. Dr. Lawrence Bass and Dr. Kylie Edinger break down the “facelift friends” — the add-on procedures and treatments that enhance results, restore balance, and address areas the lift alone can't fix.  The key is harmony. A lifted mid and lower face can still look “off” if the eyes, brows, skin, or lips tell a different age story.  By tailoring combinations of surgical and non-surgical treatments to your needs, you can walk away with results that look complete, natural, and last longer without having to come back months later for the “next worst thing.” Learn more about facelift surgery About Dr. Kylie Edinger Dr. Kylie Edinger is a plastic surgeon practicing in Bozeman, Montana. What if the secret to great plastic surgery… is knowing when not to do it? In this episode, Danielle chats with world-renowned holistic plastic surgeon Dr. Julius Few, whose philosophy LESS IS MORE has quietly shaped some of the most famous (and untraceably beautiful) faces in Hollywood. With over 30 years of experience, groundbreaking surgical innovations, and a skincare line backed by clinical trials, Dr. Few isn't just changing faces, he's changing the conversation. From his pioneering “85% Rule” to his thoughts on “GLP-1 face,” Botox addiction, and the illusion of perfection, Dr. Few shares the questions he asks before ever picking up a scalpel and why the most powerful tool in his office might be the word NO. This episode goes way beyond aesthetics; into identity, restraint, aging, and what it really means to enhance your natural beauty. Dr. Few shares: Why the best plastic surgery is invisible The difference between looking “done” and looking refreshed What not to do if you want to age gracefully Why filler might be aging you faster and what to do instead His unexpected take on facelifts (and how they've changed) and when is the best time to get one. Why he turns away patients weekly +  how they often come back to thank him The truth about “distortion vortex” and the addictive cycle of overdoing it The most underrated skincare step and the one product he swears by The procedure he invented that changed eye surgery forever What GLP-1s are doing to your skin and the skincare he created to help And why he believes imperfection is the point Follow Dr. Few on Instagram @drfewBook recommendation: Essentialism by Greg McKeown. Dr. Bass explains why zeroing in on the concerns that consistently bother you (the ones you notice in the mirror every day, not just in a random selfie) leads to better results and greater satisfaction. He shares how to use your surgeon as a reality check, when to tackle one area versus a full makeover, and why outside opinions should be weighed, but never control your decisions.
