Are you exhausted from starting over every Monday? In this episode, holistic hormone health coach Angie Marone sits down with fitness expert and women's health advocate Alicia Jones for an honest, no-fluff conversation about why women in perimenopause and menopause struggle to stay consistent — and what actually helps.Alicia has spent nearly two decades working with women over 45, and she knows that the problem isn't lack of effort. It's the mindset traps — guilt, perfectionism, and the relentless all-or-nothing cycle — that keep women stuck.Together, we dig into the mindset shifts that create lasting change, why "doing less" might actually get you further, how elevated cortisol during menopause makes the pressure you put on yourself physiologically harmful, and how to redefine what health success looks like in this season of life. This one is for every woman who has ever said "I've tried everything" — because you haven't tried this.

Join her free health & longevity newsletter here: https://www.drvondawright.com/resources/aging-longevity For years, we've focused on the external markers of health, but I've become increasingly obsessed with the internal landscape, specifically, how the food we eat communicates with our biology. We used to view nutrition as just calories in and calories out, but we now know it's a sophisticated signaling system that dictates our hormones, our mood, and even how we age. If you've felt like you're doing "everything right" but still feel exhausted or out of balance, the missing piece isn't your effort; it's likely the lack of foundational support for your internal "Amazon jungle", your gut microbiome. In this episode, I sit down with the brilliant Dr. Amy Shah to discuss her new book, Hormone Havoc, and the simple yet profound framework she's developed to help women reclaim their vitality. We explore how moving away from restrictive diets and toward a science-backed "30-30-3" rule can stabilize your hormones, lower systemic inflammation by nearly 20%, and finally give your body the fuel it needs to thrive through perimenopause and beyond. What we explore: - How the "30-30-3" framework simplifies nutrition for busy women by focusing on protein, fiber, and fermented foods. - Why eating 30 grams of protein in your first meal is a non-negotiable for mental focus and managing midlife cravings. - Why fermented foods like sauerkraut and yogurt act as a "walkie-talkie" to signal your immune system and lower inflammation. - How a daily goal of 30 grams of fiber can lower mortality by up to 10% by feeding your beneficial gut bacteria. - The critical role of the "estrobolome", gut bacteria that specifically regulate how estrogen is processed in your body. - Why modern medicine often overlooks practical nutrition training and why you must be your own advocate. - How simple "hacks" like adding chia seeds or raspberries can rapidly close your daily fiber gap. - What science says about the power of "postbiotics" found in traditional foods like sourdough bread. About the Dr. Amy Shah: Dr. Amy Shah is a double board-certified medical doctor and nutrition expert who has taken the digital world by storm with her mission to help women feel less "effing tired". Through her clinical work and best-selling books, she bridges the gap between complex medical science and practical, everyday nutrition that fits into the busy lives of modern women. If you're a woman over 40 who feels too busy, overwhelmed, or stuck when it comes to exercise, this episode is for you. We talk about how many women go from doing nothing at all to feeling strong again by starting with simple, short workouts, building consistency, and creating a plan that actually fits real life. This episode breaks down why too much fitness advice can keep you stuck, how starting small builds confidence and strength, and what sustainable exercise really looks like for women over 40. Mentioned in this episode:
If you're in midlife and suddenly feel like fat loss has become harder overnight, despite training, eating well, and doing what used to work, this episode is for you. Today I'm joined by Bill Campbell, PhD to unpack what the research actually shows about menopause, body composition, and “weight loss resistance”. We explore why some women gain body fat during this transition while others don't, why hormone therapy isn't a guaranteed fix, and the small but powerful lifestyle factors (movement, sleep, protein) that can quietly shift results. This is a practical, evidence-based conversation for women who lift, care about their health, and want clarity; not clichés. WHAT YOU'LL LEARN • Why menopause-related fat gain doesn't happen to everyone • The 2–3 year window where body fat gain seems most likely • Why hormone therapy helps some women but not others • How daily movement (NEAT) drops in midlife without you noticing • The difference between training for muscle vs strength • Why lifting shouldn't be treated as “calorie-burning cardio” • How much protein is actually supported by research (and why many women under-eat it) • Why poor sleep can create real weight-loss resistance • Whether fasted training makes any difference for body composition TIMESTAMPS: 00:00 Menopause Weight Gain: Why It Happens to Some Women (But Not All) 03:41 Can Hormone Therapy Reverse Menopause Weight Gain? 10:23 DEXA vs InBody in Midlife: What My Results Revealed (And Why It Matters) 15:29 What Is the Final Menstrual Period (FMP) & When Is Fat Gain Most Likely? 20:46 Midlife Fat Gain & NEAT: The Activity Decline No One Notices 25:29 “I Just Have a Slow Metabolism” — Is Body Type to Blame? 28:02 Should You Lift Heavy or Light? Movement That Boosts Energy Without the Gym If you're exhausted, more intensity may not be the solution. For high-achieving women over 40, the body no longer responds to force the way it once did. It responds to load management, nervous system regulation and recovery. In this episode, Nikki T breaks down: Why traditional workouts can increase fatigue after 40 The difference between performance-driven exercise and restorative movement Why your body resists “starting again” The three qualities of movement that actually rebuild energy If you've been pushing harder but feeling more depleted, this episode will shift your strategy. After 40, energy isn't created through pressure. It's restored through recalibration. If this resonated, you're likely not lacking discipline ... you're overloaded. Private coaching is where we restructure how stress, identity and leadership pressure are impacting your weight and energy. This is high-level, high-touch work for women ready to operate differently. Someone asked me if I only work with younger women. And it made me realize something big. This isn't about age. It's about identity.By 40, 45, 50… most women haven't failed. They've built coping strategies that work. They look stable. They look successful. They look “fine.”But they're managing the thorn instead of removing it.In this episode, I'm talking about:Why plateau feels safeWhy high-functioning women harden instead of expandWhy most programs create results that don't lastAnd what it actually takes to build power that doesn't collapseThis is for the woman who knows she's at the edge… and refuses to revisit the same ceiling again next year.Support the showHosted by Casey Shipp — 3000+ transformations, Self-Made Millionaire, High Priestess, Writer, Fitness Cover Model, and Founder of the Hotbody App. $30M client wins | $7.8M sold onlineRich isn't rare. Whether you feel like you're running on empty or you just want to go from an eight to a ten on your energy scale, we are breaking down the secret sauce your body needs. We're talking about those tiny structures inside you called mitochondria, why you aren't lazy even if you feel exhausted, and how we can flip the switch to create a positive feedback loop in our health.Key Highlights:➡️ Why feeling tired in your late 30s, 40s, and 50s is often a systemic change rather than a character flaw.➡️ What mitochondria actually do and why healthy ones equal better energy.➡️ Simple formula involving food and oxygen that your body uses to produce ATP.➡️ Why our mitochondria become less efficient as we age and how hormonal shifts play a role.➡️ The difference between the negative energy loop and the positive feedback loop we want to achieve.➡️ The modern habit that silently interferes with how your body creates energy.➡️ Why moving your body is essential to triggering your energy switches, even when you're tired.➡️ How stress regulation and giving yourself grace can unclog your mitochondrial signals.Key Takeaways:"Mitochondria affect your muscles, your sleep, your brain, your gut… it's the missing secret sauce to energy." - Kellie Lupsha"Laughter, joy, meditation, being around friends that we love, socialization... this is key for a healthy mitochondria." - Dr. Heidi*TAKE THE FREE ~ DISCOVER YOUR MIDLIFE HEALTH BLUEPRINT*****>>> Click Here

If you're working out but feeling softer and looking less toned than you used to, this might be why.In this episode, I unpack five widely held fitness beliefs that are keeping midlife women stuck. These are beliefs most women over 40 still live by. And it's not your fault. It's what the fitness industry has taught us. Up until a few years ago, I believed them too.The problem is this: When you believe these things,You choose workouts you think are effective but that don't actually build strength and muscle. You judge progress by the wrong signals. You quit the right methods too early. As a result, you slowly get weaker and lose muscle even though you're working out.If your body isn't responding the way it used to, this episode will connect some dots.Enjoy the show.Send me your thoughts

This is your trusted space to cut through the noise, ditch the overwhelm, and finally feel extraordinary in your body, mind, and life. Are you who are ready to stop pushing through life and start living it with intention, energy, and ease? Then let's get started. I'm your host, Kellie Lupsha, a high-performance health coach, who is delighted to be your guide to vitality. In this episode, I'm diving into a conversation I know so many women need right now, especially if you started the year feeling hopeful and motivated but somehow still exhausted. I'm sharing why “doing all the right things” isn't always enough and why real, lasting energy doesn't come from chasing symptoms. It comes from activating the systems that run your body. This episode is an invitation to stop pushing harder and start working smarter with your energy, your body, and your health.Key Highlights:➡️ Why "doing everything right" still leaves you drained, and what we're missing in the conversation➡️ The critical difference between chasing symptoms and activating your body's core systems➡️ How your nervous system silently hijacks your energy (and what "regulation" really means beyond meditation)➡️ Why muscle isn't just for strength, it's your body's energy currency and longevity organ➡️ The surprising link between feeling "safe" in your nervous system and your ability to generate vitality➡️ How cellular energy sets the stage for everything from immunity to motivation➡️ Why your gut isn't just about digestion, it's wired directly to your energy levels and mood➡️ The identity shift that transforms you from someone who wants energy to someone who generates it➡️ Simple daily activation habits that work with your biology not against itKey Takeaways:“Energy isn't something you find. Energy is something you generate.” -Kellie Lupsha"If the nervous system isn't regulated, your body doesn't think you're safe, you're not going to lose weight. You're not going to sleep well. You're going to have no energy." -Kellie Lupsha*TAKE THE FREE ~ DISCOVER YOUR MIDLIFE HEALTH BLUEPRINT*****>>> Click Here

Have you ever felt like you're doing all the right things but nothing is really changing? In this episode, we talk about how easy it is to focus on the latest trend — a new workout, a new diet, or a new “fix” — and miss the bigger picture of what actually needs to change. None of these things are bad, but when we use them to avoid the real work, we stay stuck. After you listen, I'd love to hear from you. Send me a message on Facebook or email me and tell me what you thought you needed to do before this episode — and what you realized you actually need to focus on now. Reflection questions: What do I want my life and health to look like one year from now? Does what I'm doing right now actually support that? What got in my way last week? Be specific. Where do I tend to go off the rails — weekends, stress, social events, boredom? Am I looking for a shortcut instead of a habit? What feels uncomfortable that I keep avoiding? If I stopped chasing new plans, what's one boring thing I know would help? Mentioned in this episode:
I once heard a woman say that when her son was diagnosed with cancer, she knew she had to be impeccable with her self-care so she could show up as her best self. She needed to ensure her diet, sleep, and exercise fueled her with the bandwidth she needed. The state of the world is...a lot. It's easy to feel overwhelmed and anxious, and that's why I've decided to make self-care the focus of the next few months. To help you come up with some practices that will give you the bandwidth you need. Self-care is one of the pillars of my life. I've learned that if I don't make it a habit, I tend to run myself into the ground. In the next few months, I'm going to go into detail about my self-care practices from skincare to diet/supplements to movement to time with friends, and hopefully you can pick up some nuggets and craft some self-care rituals of your own. In this episode I talk about the seven steps that I use to ensure I feel loved and nurtured and keep my skin glowing!Next Episodes Feb 12, 2026: [SELF-CARE] Products for Glowing Skin for Women Over Forty Feb 19, 2026: [SELF-CARE] How to Think About the Steps of Your Skincare Ritual Feb 26, 2026: [SELF-CARE] My AM Skin RitualResources: -Easy ways to call your reps with scripts and numbers. If you're a woman over 40 who feels stuck in the cycle of starting over with weight loss, workouts, or healthy habits, this episode is for you. In this episode, we talk about what real consistency actually looks like (hint: it's not perfection), why all-or-nothing thinking keeps you stuck, and how habits built with grace lead to lasting weight loss, more energy, and confidence. We also dive into why quick fixes and extreme approaches don't work long term — especially during perimenopause and menopause — and how accountability can change everything. You'll learn how to stop restarting, build habits that stick, and finally move forward without pressure or burnout. Mentioned in this episode:
If you're over 40 and feel like the old "eat less, move more" advice isn't working anymore, you're not alone. In this episode, I'm joined by Alicia Jones to talk about why most women are falling short on protein in midlife — and the simple, realistic shifts that can support muscle, metabolism, and steady energy without extreme dieting. If you're over 40 and feel like your energy, strength, or body composition has shifted — you're not imagining it. One of the biggest gaps I see in midlife women is protein intake. Most women are simply not getting enough, and in perimenopause and menopause that can quietly affect muscle, metabolism, cravings, inflammation, and how you feel day to day. In this episode of Living Life Naturally, I'm joined by fitness and weight loss strategist Alicia Jones, who helps women over 45 transform their health through realistic nutrition and training strategies. We talk about what changes during hormonal transition, why extreme calorie restriction can backfire, and how supporting lean muscle can make midlife health and weight goals feel more doable again. In This Episode, We Discuss: Why most women over 40 are falling short on protein (and why it matters more in midlife) How perimenopause and menopause can increase muscle loss risk Why protecting lean muscle supports metabolic rate and long-term quality of life Protein targets to aim for: 20–30 grams per meal (and daily guidance based on body weight/activity) Why drastic calorie cutting can make results harder in midlife Easy protein strategies that don't require a complete diet overhaul Smart swaps (like higher-protein yogurt options) and how to read labels Added sugars vs naturally occurring sugars (what to pay attention to) A simple "log one day of food" approach to identify hidden gaps (especially protein and fiber) Midlife fitness mindset shifts: quality over quantity, resistance training, and practical ways to add intensity into everyday movement Key Takeaway Midlife doesn't require harsher restriction — it requires smarter support. When protein and strength are prioritized, many women notice improvements in energy, satiety, strength, and body composition — without the burnout of constant dieting.
