In this episode of Life, Lemons & LemonDrops, hosts Greer and Whitnie discuss the value of accepting a challenge when it's made in the spirit of personal improvement, or challenging yourself when you know you could do better. We often take on challenges when we want to reach a goal like running a marathon or sticking to our New Year's resolutions beyond January 3rd. But did you know that some of the fun “challenges” like word games and online puzzles can benefit you and add days to your life? Or at least life to your days? Trivia and trivial games such as Wordle or Words With Friends offer a range of benefits that actually help to keep you healthy and mentally sharp. These games boost cortisol, build your vocabulary, enhance your connections to others, and generally, bring a level of joy to your day, which in turn and over time, makes you more alert and in touch with your mental faculties. Read more here about how taking a few minutes to seemingly do nothing important can be one of the most important things you can do when you have a break in your schedule for just a few minutes. And another article specifically about Wordle's benefits. Listen, like, and share this and all episodes of Life, Lemons & LemonDrops with your friends and followers. In this episode of Life, Lemons & LemonDrops hosts Greer and Whitnie discuss how feeling ‘time-poor' is wrecking your motivation. According to an article by Ellen Scott, the motivation you generate can either be promotion-focused or prevention-focused, and the amount of time you perceive you have available will impact the way you approach your tasks. By strengthening your time management skills, you may ‘find' new time that improves your motivation and inspiration to meet your goals or at least approach them from a place of promotion or anticipated positive outcomes. In this episode of Life, Lemons & LemonDrops, hosts Greer and Whitnie discuss ways to tackle the list of personal and household business you might need to complete before the year ends. If you're like most people, deadlines are looming for exhausting healthcare, credit cards, or other financial benefits. It might not be too late to dive deeply into your accounts and services and claim rebates, points, and other valuable discounts, but the time may be very limited. In addition to taking advantage of benefits you've earned or paid for, now is an excellent time to check what services you will need to make your life easier in the new year. Cancel programs you don't use or that don't bring value or combine those that may be more beneficial if they weren't diluted by having split “loyalties.” Either way, pulling out a notepad or a calculator may help you see patterns in spending and usage that need correction. Once you have shored up your business for the year and set a plan for 2023, consider ways to celebrate that victory. It may be to sit back and sing carols with your family, or perhaps you'd like to pay it forward by donating your time to those less fortunate than you or by just sharing a few of the dollars you saved with the people who've provided you service throughout the year (think barista, letter carrier, mechanic, housekeeper, or others in your community who could use a helping hand).
