One of the most memorable parts in Paul's letter to the church at Ephesus is putting on the full armor of God, reminding us that our battles are not against flesh and blood but against powers of darkness.Praise God He gives us EVERYTHING we need in Jesus!Be sure to share this episode with a friend - I'm sure you know a mama who is fighting a battle right now. Play Episode Listen Later Jan 10, 2022 42:41

Being of the female population, I think we all succumb to this at some point. People-pleasing. It's often easier to just agree and "keep the peace." But what about our peace? As believers, we know that true peace comes from God. We often overlook the example Jesus set for us. Over and over the gospels tell how He removed Himself from the presence of others (the crowds and disciples) and got alone with God to pray. He was able to live His calling because He was focused on pleasing God, not man.If you find that your sense of self worth or need for approval is often tangled up in how others view you, then this episode is for you. If you just aren't comfortable telling someone "No" then this is for you. If you need 2022 to be different than years past then this perspective shift is for you.

God is so, so good. There is no denying that. It's all over Scripture. He is GOOD! Sometimes we interpret our "rightness with Him" based on how good WE act or behave in return. It doesn't work that way, Mama! For one, Jesus did what we could not do. He is the only human who ever lived, breathed, and walked this earth that was actually GOOD. Blameless. Pure. Holy. Innocent. Sometimes we confuse our earthly report card with how we stand with him. "A" in prayer, "B-" in forgiveness, "A-" in good works, and yet it falls short every time, even if we think we have straight A's...it's not good enough. Hello, the whole point of why Jesus had to come to our rescue. But for real, who wants that burden on their shoulders? And two, do we ever really feel loved when we're always trying to measure up? Always looking for an 'atta girl! Great job! As if that approval is what earns our right to be loved? In this episode, my sweet friend Emily shares how her relationship with God changed when He used a tragic event in her life as a defining moment. God removed the blinders she wore, seeing God as an authoritarian figure, and opening her eyes to the loving Father He truly is. Her relationship deepened, her Faith took root, and she enjoyed a closeness with Him that she hand't known before. Yes, Mama. That same love is there for you too. I hope you will ask God to reveal His love for you in a whole new way. He is our Loving Father.

What a joy it is to share this conversation I had with a dear friend, April Whedbee. She opens our eyes to church planting and what it looked like for God to call her husband, herself, and her family states away to plant a church. It was a brand new experience for them, and God made the call, the opportunity, and the move all happen within 8 months! She is transparent to the core and shares her personal struggles, triumphs, and seeing God's provision through it all. If you've ever wondered what planting a church looks like and the processes that are involved, this episode will shed light on it for sure!Just the ability to say YES to God and YES to the unknown Is so inspiring and transformational for your thinking. I hope you find her words authentic and powerful, and right in step with the genuine spirit in which she speaks. Why hold back? Is God calling you to do something for Him that He has gifted only YOU for? Think of all the blessings that you and those around you will miss if you choose to shrink back. Step out in faith!"But we do not belong to those who shrink back and are destroyed, but to those who have faith and are saved." Hebrews 10:39This episode is full of powerful scripture verses. I hope you let God speak to you through it and are blessed!Shownotes available at www.goodnewsmama.com/shownotes

Episode 015 Do You know The Good News? Romans Road to Salvation

Over a month in to the podcast thing, and it's about time that I stop assuming. Not everyone who listens to the podcast is a Christian. Not everyone is a mom. And not everyone has heard The Gospel (The Good News) of Jesus Christ. That last part is hard to believe but so very true. We live in America, so we think that everyone has been to church or had a chance to hear and accept or hear and reject the Gospel of Jesus Christ. That is a devastating assumption to make, and I hope to make it obvious now. There is no other question more important in this entire world than Who do YOU say Jesus Christ is?So, here I am, laying it out there in the simplest way I know how. It's a cut and dry framework that references scripture as the foundation for why Jesus is the ONLY way to the Father (John 14:6). It's called The Romans Road to Salvation. Paul is talking to the Romans and explaining The Gospel "in a nutshell." Who doesn't love the cliffnotes?!This episode it only 12 minutes long. Don't fall out of your chair! I hope this is one you can easily listen to again and again and share with a friend. May God bless you, friend, for sharing The Good News!Shownotes available at www.goodnewsmama.com/shownotes.

    Episode 014 FAVOR in 2020

Have you taken a quick look back at the start of 2020? It's hard to believe the year is more than 1/4 over already. I recorded this episode in January, before I even launched the podcast. My hope was to steer listeners into thinking about their year and asking God to give them a 'word' for the year, a focal point to come back to, a nudge in the right direction, if you will. The idea of choosing a word for the year is not new. It's certainly not something I made up either. However, I've found it beneficial in putting things in perspective and reminding me what I care about, what I want God to do in my life, and how I want to be used for His Glory. When resolutions quickly fade, this word that God gives me is one I try to realign with, believe for, and surround myself in throughout all areas of my life. It's a great help whether you are new to the Faith or been around the block. Whether your word relates to spirituality or just wanting to be better in general, praying for God to guide you is always a great place to start. It seems silly to talk about FAVOR while we are all working on social distancing at the moment (thank you COVID-19). But maybe this is the perfect time to take the time and dig in, asking God to give you something NEW and out of the ordinary (kind of like this unexpected 2 week break from the norm)! What word did you receive? I'd love to hear about it. Shoot me an email at Lynn@goodnewsmama.com.Shownotes available at www.goodnewsmama.com/shownotes
