In our Part 1 of this series, we answered common questions about Catholicism from the Catholic perspective with help from a Catholic priest. In Part 2, we're sharing answers from a Protestant viewpoint. The number one question I get asked from Catholics is, “We seem so aligned on a lot of topics, so why aren't you Catholic?”We answer this question and so many more in this episode—particularly focusing on the biblical passages on which we are basing our beliefs and convictions. (You'll find all those references below!)We also highlight the key theological differences that mean our answers must diverge from the Catholic stance. We pray this episode is a blessing and an encouragement to all who listen/watch, and we're so glad you're here, regardless of where you fall in this discussion.Bible References:Ephesians 2:8-10Hebrews 13:8John 19:30Ephesians 2:92 Corinthians 5:21James 2:17Philippians 2:12John 13:35John 14:15-31Hebrews 10:111 Peter 3:18Romans 14:5Romans 6:12Matthew 6:16-18Matthew 6:9-13Hebrews 10:142 Corinthians 5:89Luke 23:43Isaiah 6:51 Corinthians 2:9Romans 7Romans 8:12 Peter 2:31 Corinthians 2Galatians 1:6-8Mark 1:14-151 Corinthians 15Matthew 9:23-25Revelations 21:5Hebrews 11Luke 1:46-55Luke 2:11Mark 102 Timothy 3:16-17Matthew 17:1-82 Thessalonians 2 :15Isaiah 55:111 Corinthians 11-14Galatians 6:14Links:The Gentleness ChallengePenny Reward SystemPaint & ProseM Is for Mama
One of the most important places to receive encouragement is the church, but how do we as the members of the church play a role in this? Today we discuss how we can be an encouragement to our pastors, our elders and deacons, our small group, our Bible Study and really to anyone who walks through the doors . Also, we will talk about how we receive so much from all the relationships through our local church. What I meant to say was John 2:24-25.I accidentally added the word "and" to 1 Peter 4:10-11. It didn't change the meaning, but here is the verse verbatim: "As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Jesus is led by the Spirit into the wilderness and tempted by Satan. Instead of offering a simple formula for resisting temptation, Luke 4 invites us to see something deeper. This passage shows us what God is really like and what it costs to follow Him. In this sermon, we explore how Jesus reveals a God who is not against us, not distant, and not waiting for us to fail, but a Father who is for us. At the same time, Jesus shows us that trusting God often means choosing the costly road instead of the shortcut.• God is for us and invites us into a safe, personal relationship with Him• Jesus shows us the cost of trusting the Father instead of taking shortcuts• Following Jesus means obedience, trust, and surrender even when it's hardKey Scriptures:Luke 4:1–13Hebrews 4:14–16Psalm 8Matthew 6:31–33Romans 5:8Challenge yourself to trust God where obedience feels costly right now. Ask where He is calling you to follow without shortcuts. If this message encouraged you, share it with someone who needs to be reminded that God is for them.Bayou City Fellowship Cypress Campus | Nick Maricle | February 8, 2026https://linktr.ee/bayoucityfellowship

What if joy isn't something you chase—but something you receive? In this Advent message, Pastor Aaron McRae explores the deep, lasting joy that Jesus brings—a joy that is often unexpected, received by faith, and anchored in eternity.Drawing from Luke 2 and the Christmas story, this message reframes joy beyond temporary happiness, success, or comfort. Pastor Aaron contrasts the world's pursuit of happiness with the biblical invitation to joy—one that meets us in brokenness, suffering, uncertainty, and fear. From the unlikely joy announced to shepherds, to reflections from thinkers like C.S. Lewis, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, and modern neuroscience, this message shows how true joy is not circumstantial, but relational. This sermon speaks directly to those navigating stress, grief, anxiety, financial pressure, health challenges, or spiritual dryness. It reminds us that Jesus came not only to save what is lost, but to heal what is broken—and His joy is available here and now, regardless of circumstances. If you are searching for meaning beyond happiness, longing for hope this Christmas season, or wondering where to anchor your joy, this message will help you make room for the lasting joy found only in Jesus.Scriptures ReferencedLuke 2:1–14Psalm 16:11Psalm 51:12Galatians 5:22Philippians 4:4–6Psalm 119:14Romans 15:13Hebrews 12:2Resources & References MentionedArthur Brooks — Leadership and Happiness (Harvard Business School)Dietrich Bonhoeffer — Conspiracy and ImprisonmentC.S. Join us as we tackle the tricky topic of grief and children. A few weeks ago, a reader whose husband had died under tragic circumstances asked for resources on how to navigate grief with her four children. So I invited my pastor Wit (Rick Witmer) on to share from the perspective of a biblical counselor. In this episode, he introduces the idea of “trellissing” grief in a way that helps our kids make sense of it biblically. We also chat about more practical tools (like using the acronym GRIEFS) to guide our interactions with our kids as they are mourning. The biblical principles we discuss in this episode are helpful for any parent navigating grief with their children, but they also apply to numerous other aspects of parenting. So even if you're not dealing with this exact topic, I encourage you to listen in. Sometimes coming to Christian faith means that life gets harder and we don't like that. We will all find ourselves in moments or seasons of discouragement, but we can wrestle through it with reverence. The main way to fight discouragement is by having a knowledge of God's Word that helps you lean into Christ, and in this week's episode, the Perrys walk through a number of passages in this episode to help us do just that. In this episode, we discuss the difference between judgement and correction. Judgement is not for improvement, it's a conclusion, whereas correction is for the purpose of improvement. Accepting correction can be hard and oftentimes we interpret correction as judgement. Scriptures:Luke 6:37Romans 14:10-13Rev. 20:11-13Hebrews 12:11II Tim. 3:16Prov. 3:12Prov. 15:31-32It is important to realize that when we are not open to correction and instruction, this can hinder our Christian walk. If we do not acknowledge that we make mistakes and sometimes need to change our ways, this can have negative consequences. The Bible informs us that God is our only judge. If we can be given correction and be corrected, we will be able to confidently stand before God in the judgement without condemnation.Contact us at:lifeinspiredproductions@gmail.comFind us on Apple iTunes, Spotify, PandoraFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/EnrichedPInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/enriched_perspectives/YouTube: @Enriched_Perspectives

Our busy culture doesn't prioritize rest. God rested from his work in Genesis 1, so what does that mean for us? In this episode, Brody walks through Scripture and shows how Jesus defined what a Sabbath day means and why he is the Lord of the Sabbath. The Pharisees replaced the Sabbath law with their own man-made traditions, but Jesus gives us rest from the religious burden of legalism. The Sabbath is for you. Let's pause this week and rest in the Lord.
