After five books the week prior, we're down to just one new Star Wars comic this week -- Star Wars (Vol. 3) #30 -- but the lone title has much to offer in terms of advancing the story arc as well as linking to Lucasfilm's ambitious new era, The High Republic.Featuring classic Original Trilogy stalwarts, Lando, Leia, Luke and Chewbacca, along with the Sequel Trilogy's Amilyn Holdo, the Rebels are adrift in No-Space in a bid to find fuel for the Rebellion. What transpires is a confrontation with Nihil droids and a surprising final page that leads into the next issue.Comics out today and broken down on this week's episode:_ Star Wars #30 (6:01)_ The High Republic #2 (2nd Printing)_ The Mandalorian #5 (2nd Printing)Star Wars Comics on Marvel Unlimited This Week:_ Doctor Aphra (Vol. 2) #24_ Han Solo & Chewbaca #6 (of 10)News_ It's a new year!Upcoming Star Wars comics, TPBs and omnibus editions:Jan. 10 _ Darth Vader (Vol. 3), Vol. 5: The Shadow's Shadow TPB (Collects #23-27Jan. 11 _ Darth Vader #30, The Mandalorian #7 (of 8), The High Republic #4 (of 10), The High Republic Adventures #2 (of 8), Hidden Empire #1 (2nd Printing)Jan. 18 _ Bounty Hunters #30, Han Solo & Chewbacca #9 (of 10), Revelations #1 (2nd Printing), Yoda #1 (2nd Printing)Jan. 24 _ Star Wars Legends: The New Republic Vol. 1 Omnibus (Collects Star Wars: Mara Jade - By the Emperor's Hand #0-6, Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire - Evolution #1-5, Star Wars: X-Wing Rogue Leader #1-3, Star Wars: X-Wing Rogue Squadron #1-35, Star Wars: X-Wing Rogue Squadron Special #1, Star Wars Handbook #1 and material from Star Wars Tales #10, 12, 15, 23)Jan. 25 _ The Blade #2 (of 4), Doctor Aphra #28, Yoda #3 (of 10), The High Republic Adventures #3 (of 8)Jan. 31 _ Doctor Aphra Omnibus, Vol. 1 (2nd Printing) (Collects Doctor Aphra (Vol. 1), #1-40; Annuals #1-3; Darth Vader (2015) #3-4, 8, 21, 25; Star Wars (2015) #13, 19, #31-32; The Screaming Citadel #1; and material from Empire Ascendant #1); Bounty Hunters, Vol. 5 "The Raid on the Vermillion" TPB (Collects #23-28)Feb. 1 _ Sana Starros #1 (of 5), Hyperspace Stories #4 (of 12)Feb. 7 _ Star Wars Legends Epic Collection: The Menace Revealed, Vol. 3 (Collects Star Wars #36-45, Star Wars: Jedi Quest #1-4, Star Wars: Jango Fett #1, Star Wars: Zam Wesell #1)Feb. 8 _ The High Republic #5, Hidden Empire #3, Darth Vader #31Feb. 15 _ Star Wars #31, Bounty Hunters #31, The Mandalorian #8 (of 8), Hyperspace Stories #5 (of 12)Feb. 22 _ The Blade #3 (of 4), Doctor Aphra #29, Yoda #4 (of 10), The High Republic Adventures #4 (of 8), The Nameless Terror #1 (of 4)March 1 _ The High Republic Adventures -- Quest of the Jedi #1 One-Shot, Star Wars #32, Hidden Empire #4 (of 5), Han Solo & Chewbacca #10 (of 10)March 7 _ Star Wars Legends Epic Collection: The Old Republic, Vol. 5, TPB (Collects Star Wars: Knight Errant 1-5, Knight Errant -- Deluge 1-5, Knight Errant -- Escape 1-5, Star Wars: Jedi vs. Sith 1-6 and material from Star Wars Tales #16)March 8 _ Bounty Hunters #32, Sana Starros #2 (of 5), The High Republic #6 (of 10)March 14 _ Star Wars Legends: The Rebellion Omnibus Vol. 1. The Young Padawans gather with Amy and Matt to discuss Star Wars Adventures #25, a rare full-length story that focuses on Leia Organa and Amilyn Holdo in a tale spanning Coruscant's many levels, that weaves the specter of myth with the potential for doing right by those whom power often overooks. This issue is written by Delilah S. Dawson, lavishly illustrated by Margaux Saltel and expertly lettered by Tom B. Long. It's editors include Elizabeth Brei and Denton J. Tipton.
Readers were treated to three stories featuring three Sequel Trilogy-era characters -- Maz Kanata, Amilyn Holdo and BB-8 -- in the pages of Star Wars: Age of Resistance Special #1 that helped solidify our desire for a Kanata-driven Star Wars comics series.Doctor Aphra made her first -- and maybe not the last -- appearance on Batuu in the pages of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge #4, helping the mini series cement its status as a stand-alone story that doesn't even need the park that shares its name as bulwark. We've also got the latest Star Wars comics news and views, including details about Star Wars Adventures upcoming 2019 annual and so much more. This week's Star Wars comics out this week, Aug. 7:_ Star Wars #70_ Star Wars: Age of Rebellion -- Heroes Trade Paperback (Collecting the Han Solo, Lando Calrissian, Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia one shots, along with stories from the Special)_ Star Wars Legends Epic Collection The Original Marvel Years, Vol. 4 (collecting Star Wars Vol. 1 #56-73 and Annual #2)_ Walter Simonson Star Wars Artists Edition Hardcover

We're back! After a long (too long) layoff, The Exhaust Port podcast is back with a rambling edition of Book Club! Dave Bartholomew joins me to discuss the amazing novel Leia, Princess of Alderaan by the undisputed queen of Star Wars writing, Claudia Gray herself. Gray delivers another must-read addition to the growing Star Wars canon, once again centering on everyone's favorite Disney princess, Leia Organa herself. The novel is a coming of age tale for a 16-year-old Leia, detailing her discovery that her adoptive parents are key members of the Rebel Alliance, her entry into galactic politics, and the start of a lifelong friendship to none other than Amilyn Holdo! Coming to grips with the need for sacrifice and experiencing love and loss for the first time in her life, Leia Princess of Alderaan is a must-read for any Star Wars fan. We also loop in a tiny bit of discussion on another amazing Star Wars book, Rebel Rising by Beth Revis, contrasting the late-teen years of Jyn Erso against those of Leia - including the differences in their respective mentors and the paths they walk to essentially arrive at the same point. For this episode's edition of our ongoing series May the 4's Be With You, Dave and I tackle the topic of our four favorite novels in the new Star Wars canon (sorry EU / Legends heads...). As you can guess, our lists are pretty similar, but there are a few differences. We also go into a little praise and love for the various story narrators, as we both absorb our content via audiobook as opposed to the old school method of actually reading. While we are on the subject of Star Wars novels, please take a peek at our new Star Wars Reading Guide - especially if you're wanting to get into reading Star Wars novels and are feeling a bit overwhelmed (which is understandable)! We have outlined the best starting points to get you up and reading, and where to proceed from there, providing the newbie a great guide to getting started in the world of the Star Wars canon outside of the films and animated series'. Thanks again for listening, and make sure to subscribe and leave us a review, as it helps the podcast a TON! Lastly, feel free to drop us a line on our site, Twitter, and/or Facebook - we love to hear from you guys and appreciate your feedback! ~May The Force Be With You, Always!

On this episode, we talk to Capital Games developer Brandon School about two new characters coming CG/EA's Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes game. Amilyn Holdo and Rose Tico. We get some information about the design choices and talk about her kit and what else may be coming.
In this episode, Lynn and Natalie revisit their opinions on Amilyn Holdo in light of TLJ, and their thoughts about the lack of LGBT representation in the film. They also freak out about the very last Rebels trailer and speculate about how the show will end!
In Episode 41, we sit down with a panel of scruffy-looking nerf herders on the anniversary of Carrie Fisher’s death to record a special episode of the NEPA Scene Podcast - a Holiday Special, if you will. FilmBuffOnline editor Rich Drees, comedian Ted Hebert, NEPA Scene and Geek Art Photo photographer Jason Riedmiller, and singer/songwriter Connor Langan of new band Willrow Hood (named after an obscure “Star Wars” character) join us to talk about “Episode VIII - The Last Jedi” in-depth and decide if writer/director Rian Johnson brought balance to the franchise or left it in darkness with the latest “Star Wars” film. This is a spoiler-filled discussion, so if you haven’t seen the movie yet, then why did you even click on this? As we geek out, we drink Beer Boys crowlers of Blood Orange IPA by Tommyknocker Brewery, Mine Fire Blackberry Jalapeño Ale by Breaker Brewing Company in Wilkes-Barre, and Devious Imperial Pumpkin by Fegley’s Brew Works in Bethlehem and Allentown. We talk about the controversy surrounding this movie, “Star Wars” fandom, avoiding spoilers and ruining childhoods, the movie’s twists and whether or not they were genuinely surprising, the different structure and tonal shifts in “The Last Jedi,” the perspective of younger “Star Wars” fans versus older fans, the much-maligned casino subplot on Canto Bight, Mark Hamill’s comments being taken out of context and Luke Skywalker’s arc in the movie, Captain Phasma’s short role, Kylo Ren being the best part of the movie, the debate over Supreme Leader Snoke, General Hux and white nationalism symbolism, the Rey and Luke scenes, the new Force powers on display, Carrie Fisher passing away and the effect this had on her role, taking ideas and characters from the old “Star Wars” Legends canon like Grand Admiral Thrawn, the new characters Rose and DJ, the way these episodes are being written and produced versus the original trilogy, “Star Wars” characters who need their own spin-offs, how “The Last Jedi” changed the direction of the series, the big Amilyn Holdo moment, feminism and other themes in the script, what should happen in "Episode IX," and more. We also answer some questions and react to comments from live viewers. The opening and closing music is a remix of the “Binary Sunset/The Force Theme” by DJ AG so Disney won’t sue us for using the original John Williams music. The award-winning NEPA Scene Podcast covers arts, entertainment, and the issues that matter to Northeastern Pennsylvania. It airs as a live video stream every Wednesday at 7 p.m. on NEPA Scene’s Facebook page and is available afterward on iTunes, SoundCloud, Stitcher, YouTube, and nepascene.com. This episode and all previous episodes are available now on NEPA Scene, the award-winning independent arts and entertainment website that combines the accuracy and professionalism of a print magazine with the immediacy and convenience of a blog, offering a wide variety of content to readers in NEPA, Philadelphia, New York, and beyond. We’ve entered that rich season after a new Star Wars movie, and The Last Jedi has generated a lot of fan discussion: what does Episode VIII say about Rey’s parentage? About the identity of Supreme Leader Snoke and the legacy of the Skywalker family? Paul had a dramatic change of heart between his first and second viewing. We dig into the writing of the film, Luke Skywalker’s role and why Mark Hamill was thrown off by the direction the saga is taking him, and Rey’s character arc.We also go into how the types of stories audiences want have changed, and what that means about the lack of history for Snoke or Rey. How does audience expectation affect the way people watch and re-watch The Last Jedi? It’s the biggest event of the year for our Star Wars podcast!Timecodes:Luke Skywalker and Kylo Ren relationship - 5:50 Rey Lineage - 50:00 Finn, Rose, DJ and Canto Bight - 1:13:00 Amilyn Holdo - 1:35:00 See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
