Whew! We had a lot going on this week. And while most of it was outside the realm of Metal, we decided we still wanted to go over it. Considering Geekworld is good neighbors with Metaldom. Simply enough, we're talking all our adventures with Free Comic Book Day, May The 4th (Be With You) and the 8th of May (International Motorhead Day). As well, we tackle the announcement from Propaghandi regarding their cancelled US dates for 2025. Musically, we crank Cancer, Cirith Ungol, the aforementioned Prop., Jaguar, Fleshcrawl, Hexella, The Bloody Hell and we introduce Chile's Witchhunter in our "Indie Spotlight". Horns up!

May The 4th Be With You! Crouton. Yes, the adult bread crumb. RJ kicks the show off with quite a story involving the infamous salad topping. WHY!!?? The guys are disappointed that the highly anticipated GTA 6 has been delayed until next year, and they ask, “WHY??” “Sinners” is a box office hit. Jared reiterates that statement by giving his thoughts on the original film. Like Share Comment Subscribe and Review!!

"May the Force Be With You," and also May The 4th Be With You.The Holmes Brothers head back to the world of Star Wars to review The Prequel Trilogy. We're back with another Trilogies episode. The films in the trilogy include Episode I: The Phantom Menace (1999), Episode II: Attack of the Clones (2002) and Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (2005). Revenge of the Sith is currently being re-released in select cinemas to coincide with its twenty year anniversary. Before the rights of LucasFilm and the world of Star Wars were sold to Disney, George Lucas came back to finish the Star Wars saga with the Prequels. Whether you like the films or not, cinema and visual effects technology caught up with Lucas's vision and he was able to tell the full story in the way that he envisioned. He could finally show Podracers, Gungans, the planet Coruscant and also show how Anakin Skywalker became Darth Vader. There was a lot of hype and expectations around these films. Back in 1999 before the release of Episode I, people would buy tickets to other films just to see the trailer and then leave. This is way before YouTube. Today there has been a slight reappraisal of the films from some corners of cinema fans and lovers of all things Star Wars, compared to the critical bashing they all got during their original releases from fans, filmmakers and critics. The films were not as popular as the Original Trilogy. They did not receive the same love and acclaim at the time and a lot of the criticisms the films got were due to the writing, storytelling, characterisation and sometimes the VFX. Now many years later, where do you think we land on the films? Listen to the episode and find out.We hope you like this episode and stay tuned for more Trilogies episode. The next episode will be on The War Trilogy, directed by Italian filmmaker Roberto Rossellini.Be sure to check out our Monument Valley Film on our YouTube Channel, the famous location is featured briefly in one of the films.Anders's screenwriter work can also be seen in the western The Outlaws, The films is a available to watch in America , parts of Scandinavia (e.g. Denmark, Finland) & the United Kingdom on Amazon and also Apple TV. You can read a review about the film here on Collider.Follow us on our Instagram page. For obvious reasons, we are no longer on Twitter. You won't find us there. Never apologize for being a nerd! May the 4th Be With You!

EPISODE CORRECTION: George Lucas attempted to make "Flash Gordon" not "Buck Rogers". It's much more normal if you didn't even notice. All May long we're discussing STAR WARS movies in chronological order and dictating absolute canon from here forth. Your thoughts? Meaningless. Our thoughts? They are now your new thoughts. One last ride with Star Wars before we emotionally retire it and watch only movies like “On Golden Pond” and “Bridges of Madison County”. You will believe you can love again. OK, so our month's theme of FORCED is riding on the bandwagon of that “May the 4th Be With You” stuff but don't say that phrase to us in person unless you want to elicit a “Manchurian Candidate” type response where we attack you. This episode is one of the few we are actually looking forward to as it is the one that started it all, “STAR WARS” by George Lucas from 1977 and starring Mark Hamill, Alec Guinness, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Peter Cushing. You pretty much already know a lot about it I'm sure. It's a strange trip to behold when carrying around prequel knowledge but you gotta revel in the fairly simple space adventure romp after watching five convoluted movies that are all reference films to the one we're finally discussing today. They didn't let George Lucas make Buck Rogers so he took some Kurosawa inspiration and whipped up a big allegory to the Vietnam War. People split so many hairs over this franchise but the core concept of it was all as simple as that. I would like to think I would do a little more if somebody was going to destroy my planet right in front of me. I would have throat chopped Tarkin and then turn around and knock out Darth Vader in one punch for real. There were many awesome spaces aboard the Halcyon - - the Atrium, the Climate Simulator, the Bridge - - and each added some fun elements to the voyage. In this episode, we took inspiration from a suggestion by Nick Tierce to imagine what other spaces we could think of to add to the Lady H and what experiences these could inspire. We also hear about the recent fun that was had by Martin & Kristine on a trip to Disneyland for Star Wars Nite after-hours event & May The 4th (Be With You).Support the Show.Heroes of the Halcyon on InstagramTheme Music ("Digital Discourse") by Yellow BarrelSend your email to heroesofthehalcyon@gmail.com - we'd love to hear from you about your journeys, episode suggestions, or just to say hi!

Theme: The Lord Be With You. Pastor Randy Schlak's sermon: "May the 4th Be With You!" Confirmation was May 4, 2024
At the Deucecast Movie Show, we celebrate the most special days of the year, like Christmas, and Mother's Day, and Thanksgiving, and of course, both May the 4th Be With You, and it's follow, Revenge of the Fifth, and it's spiritual sequel Revenge of the Sixth. To help Mikey, Dave, and #XLessDrEarl celebrate, we invite in first time Friend of the Show, videographer and vlogger and Disney sorta influencer and hardcore Star Wars fiend, THE Derek Frank! First, a little background on Derek to open the show, followed by the return of America's favorite easy Q&A, Simple Star Wars Trivia (spoiler alert - Mikey always dominates), then a review on the epic re-watch everyone had this weekend over Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. And finally, the guys count down their favorite Star Wars fight scenes - not the epic space battles, but one on one or one on five or five on a hundred -- no Star Destroyers, rather blasters and space swords -- and to make the pot even sweeter, the lists cover all the screen media, including TV shows, not just the movies. And a quick chat on Tom Hanks Playtone movie studio!
We're back! The guys have a long discussion about the state of the box office and what that could potentially mean. Also, in the spirit of May the 4th (Be With You), they each share what they find special about Star Wars! Join us!

Host Ben Rice travels to Sacramento, CA, to sit down with Sacramento Area Brewers Guild president Chris Keeton (head brewer at Alaro) and vice president David Weiss (brewer at Blue Note) to talk about Sacramento Beer Week 2024 (happening April 26-May 5). We discuss this year's iteration of the Rising Together guild collaboration (among other things). In past years, it's been an IPA using certain ingredients, but this year, in honor of the Sacramento Brewers Showcase happening on Saturday May 4 (at Heart Health Park), they're honoring May the 4th Be With You, by letting breweries choose the Light Side or Dark Side, allowing for a wide range of beer styles and flavors, and reminding consumers of the vast array of beers available in the beer scene and what differentiates each brewery. Plus! Taprooms and bars are back in business at Sac Beer Week 2024! Internal strife has diminished that in recent years, but those are the sins of the father, not the current administration, who is working hard to recapture the spirit of Sac Beer Week. This episode is not only a celebration of what Beer Week and the beer scene once was, but an exploration of where it's going and how it will handle a more educated and less alcohol-friendly next generation of consumers. We also shout out some people who keep the scene alive and show that, even when day-to-day excitement may be down, there's still a strong supportive and passionate base of brewers, marketers, and drinkers. David Weiss damn near gets emotional on the episode and Chris shows why he was put in charge in the first place.
