What techniques can help me improve my charisma?Andrew Ferebee, 7-Figure Entrepreneur | High Performance Coach | Podcaster1. Make Perfect Eye ContactEveryone knows that eye contact is important, but few people understand how to do it effectively.Typically, people either make too little eye contact and end up looking scared and anxious.Or they make too much eye contact and look like the sort of person who has to personally introduce themselves (and their misdeeds) to all of their neighbors when they move into a new area.A good rule of thumb is this.If you are speaking, make eye contact 80% of the time.If someone else is speaking to you, make eye contact only 60% of the time. This will increase your perceived social status and ensure that your eye contact makes you seem charismatic instead of creepy.2. Ask More Questions and Speak LessPlain and simple.People are more interested in themselves than anything else on the planet.By asking more questions about their life, dreams, and aspirations and speaking less you will make yourself seem more interesting, make them feel important, and prevent yourself from having to come up with witty remarks and banter during the conversation. If you ever hit a dead end in a conversation, ask a question and then nod, say “Interesting” and then “Tell me more”.Works like a charm.3. Maintain Excellent Posture and Take Up More SpaceCharismatic people have strong posture.Period.Think about the most charismatic person you know. Are they typically hunched over in conversations? Do they shrink up to make themselves appear smaller?Or do they stand tall with their shoulders back, OWNING their space and commanding respect?I think you know the answer.Keep your shoulders out, your back straight, and your posture strong.Own your space and have excellent posture and it will work wonders for your charisma.4. Repeat People's Names Back to them When You First MeetAlthough you don't want to come off like a used car salesman, repeating people's names back to them is a powerful way to build instant rapport, connect with someone, and prevent yourself from forgetting their name.Don't overdo it, but be sure to repeat their name back to them at least twice during the first conversation. For example.Me: Hi, I'm Andrew. You: Andrew?Me: YupYou: Good to meet you Andrew, I'm Sam.That's it.5. Speak Slowly, Clearly, and ThoughtfullyA hallmark of charismatic individuals is that other people listen when they speak. However, you can't expect people to listen when you speak if you are constantly blurting out random crap and speaking faster than a radio ad.When you talk in social settings speak clearly, slowly, and with deep vocal tonality.Think before you speak and make sure that every word coming out of your mouth is meaningful. If you are the type of person who only speaks when they have something important to say, people will naturally shut up and listen when you open your mouth.6. Dress to ImpressWhile the majority of charisma comes from verbal and nonverbal communications, there is a third aspect to charisma that people often overlook.Style.Charismatic people dress to impress and wear clothing that represents their personal status and confidence. This doesn't mean you need to rock a 3 piece suit everywhere you go.But you should make sure that you are well groomed and wearing clothes that fit properly and are stylish.7. Make Appropriate Physical ContactIf you overdo this one it will come off as creepy and weird. If you get it right, you will build rapport with people faster than anyone else and be the most charismatic guy or gal in the room.Tap people lightly on the shoulder to emphasize a point. Maintain a handshake for just 1–2 seconds longer than normal. Pat someone on the back while delivering a compliment.Be appropriate and respectful of other people's space but don't be afraid to break the touch barrier quickly and regularly.8. Smile Genuinely (And Slowly)Most people smile too quickly or disingenuously.Smiling is a powerful tool for building charisma but it needs to be executed properly. When meeting someone, wait to smile until after you've shaken hands and made eye contact. When someone says something funny, slowly let out a radiant smile. When making eye contact, smile softly and genuinely. The more genuine and heartfelt that people believe your smiles are, the more powerful they will be.9. Educate Yourself on Social DynamicsAs with anything in life, if you want to become more charismatic then you must study charisma and learn from the best.Watch TV shows with charismatic main characters and take notes about how they conduct themselves.Read books like Influence and 92 Tricks to Talk to Anyone.Educate yourself massively on social dynamics and charisma and you'll be 10x farther ahead than the majority of the population10. Always Prioritize YourselfTHE most powerful and charismatic individuals in the world prioritize themselves.I don't mean that they talk about themselves all the time or gloat incessantly. But that they value their time and attention and give it away slowly. If you are interrupted in the middle of a conversation, ignore the interrupter and finish your train of thought. If someone tries to get your attention, finish what you are doing before acknowledging them.Give your attention away sparingly and it will seem more valuable.Hope these quick tips help.Stay Grounded, Andrew

What does the 1% do with their time compared to the 99%?Andrew Ferebee, 7-Figure Entrepreneur | High Performance Coach | PodcasterAfter interviewing more than 400 experts (about 90% of whom are a part of the 1%) and building a 7-figure business myself, I've realized that there aren't as many commonalities among high performers as you might imagine.Sure, most of them have some sort of mindfulness practice, exercise, and practice gratitude, but the specific habits vary wildly from person to person. However…What almost everyone in the 1% has in common is how they don't spend their time. Here are the 7 things that the 99% does that the 1% don't.(Please note that these are not universal statements, there are plenty of people who are part of the 1% that follow these bad habits. However, their success is in spite of their bad behavior not because of it)1. Watch TV for More than 60 Minutes a DayI love Breaking Bad and Narcos just as much as the rest of you.But spending more than an hour a day in front of the television isn't just a waste of time, it's complete madness. The average American watches 5 hours of TV a day… That's 77 days a YEAR!Imagine how much you could accomplish with an extra 77 days added back into your year? It's impossible to always be productive, and watching television to unwind and relax after a long day of work is more than acceptable. But spending almost 25% of your waking hours plopped down on the couch watching other people become successful is one of the most wasteful activities you can engage in.I've never met a successful person who watched 5 hours of TV a day.If you are currently wasting your days in front of the boob tube while claiming you want to be successful, you need to take a serious look at how you are spending your time.2. Drink to Excess on a Regular BasisSuccessful people know how to party. In fact, when you are part of the 1% and you have the money to blow, epic parties become a natural byproduct (just think about Dan Bilzerian). However I don't know any successful people who drink to excess on a daily or even weekly basis.Just about every successful person I know will throw back shots of Tequila and get wild on the dance floor from time to time. But it's the exception not the rule.3. Spend Most of their Money on Consumption Instead of CreationSuccessful people spend their money on things that make them better. They spend money on their business, on their personal growth, and on their passions.Unsuccessful people feel the compulsion to buy products and things that they don't need.Their houses overflow with crap they purchased from Walmart and useless gadgets that they wasted their money on.Successful people spend money intentionally and focus most of their income on things that assist in creation.4. Overeat and Consume Processed FoodsHow you fuel your body will determine how well you can show up in business and in life.If you are eating clean foods you will feel better, have more energy, and look younger. If you are constantly stuffing your face with processed garbage, then you can't expect your brain to function at optimal levels or for your life to workout the way you want.Unhealthy eating habits lead to all sorts of issues with confidence, depression, and long term chronic health problems.Every successful person I know takes care of their bodies and pays special attention to how they fuel their proverbial engine.5. Blame Others for their FailuresYou will never meet a successful person who blames other people for their failures. And you will rarely meet an unsuccessful person who takes ownership for their life and responsibility for their success. If you want to join the 1% then quit complaining about how Donald Trump, Congress, your parents, your boss, and the world are all trying to screw you .Instead, focus on how you can succeed regardless of external circumstances.Other people have had it worse than you and built an incredible life.Take responsibility for your life and you have the power to achieve whatever you want.6. Gossip and Waste Time Talking About Other PeopleI'm yet to meet a successful person who was willing to waste their precious time and mental energy gossiping about other people.Sure, they'll mention a mistake that one of their peers made to use as an example or express their frustration with the state of things. But I've never heard a successful person sitting at the water cooler saying “Oh my God! Did you see what Sally was wearing yesterday? Did you hear that Jake is cheating on his fiance?”It just doesn't happen. You have enough crap going on in your own life.So stop focusing on other people and focus on yourself.7. Spend Time Worrying About Other People's OpinionsWhether they are a part of the 1% or not, the most successful people in the world (subjectively) don't give a crap about other people's opinions.Sure, they take advice from mentors. But they don't let their family, friends, or society determine what they will do with their life or what makes them happy. They march to the beat of their own drummer and chart their own path through life. And as a result, they get to experience something that's an anomaly in the human existence. They truly live.

Self Publishing School : Learn How To Write A Book And Grow Your Business
Andrew Ferebee hails from San Diego and is a good friend of mine. Andrew is an entrepreneur, author, podcaster, and a lifelong student of life. He is the man behind the popular Knowledge For Men website and the author of The Dating Playbook For Men which we will be talking about today. He also has been hosting the Knowledge For Men Podcast since 2013 and has interviewed many of today’s successful leaders. Today, we are going to talk about The Dating Playbook For Men and Andrew’s launch strategy. Andrew wasn’t planning on writing a dating book, but he saw a need with all of the misinformation about men and dating that was floating around. Andrew shares how he wrote the book in 30 days while still creating great content, along with a lot of fun and interesting stuff about writing, dating, and lessons that Andrew has learned. This show was taped while Andrew was crushing his first launch, so it is also a perfect book launch case study show. You can find Andrew here: Knowledge For Men The Dating Playbook For Men Books by Andrew Ferebee Andrew Ferebee on LinkedIn Andrew on Twitter @AndrewFerebee Andrew on Instagram Knowledge For Men Podcast Show Notes [01:30] This show was recorded when Andrew was in the middle of a launch. [02:02] Andrew never wanted to write a dating book, but he felt The Dating Playbook needed to come out because there was so much damaging information out there.[02:45] It took Andrew about 30 days to write this 200-page book because it came from an audio program that he had. It was an awesome product, but it wasn't selling because of lack of marketing. He transcribed the audio program and then added and removed content and then got it edited. [04:14] Andrew thought revisiting all of the old content was a lot of fun and having someone to work with made it really easy. [05:40] Andrew found a really great letter through Elance which is now Upwork. [07:15] Andrew went with The Dating Playbook because the answer to dating is to become a stronger, more powerful, grounded man. Having guys become a powerful version of themselves is the answer, not pick up lines. [11:31] Andrews book was also great for lead generation for his higher ticket events and to build his brand. [12:52] Andrew's marketing strategy included creating a VIP club from his list. He then sent bonus content, a private Facebook group, and asked for a review and a link. Some of the email content would include book snippets asking for feedback and cover options. This created a mini army of people wanting to help and support the launch. [17:56] It's important to build out an audience. Andrew already had the podcast and the website, but if he didn't have an audience, his strategy would be to leverage his friends. [19:44] Andrew got people involved and engaged by giving them massive free content. He would answer questions and create videos with the answers. People were engaged because he added value. He also created a raffle and filmed the random name draw to send a person an Amazon gift card or a free coaching session. He created fun ways to get his audience engaged. [21:42] Andrew created a book trailer because he loves movie trailers. Ask what you a passionate about to make things fun and exciting for yourself. [25:31] He also used Facebook ads with a video and a custom audience. [31:28] Andrew also created a dating toolkit for a bonus that people would opt in to get to help create a list and get people in the funnel. He also used his marketing launch content as bonus videos. [33:37] It's important to dedicate the right amount of time to this. It takes a lot of time and energy to plan and execute a book launch. [33:37] It's important to dedicate the right amount of time to this. It takes a lot of time and energy to plan and execute a book launch. [44:01] Andrew learned a lot of marketing and launch lessons from Chandler which allowed him to publish on time and have a great launch. Everyone should write a book. Why do we throw away time like it will last forever…? Every day millions of men like you wake up and run around in jobs they hate, so they can buy things they don't need, to impress people on social media platforms they don't belong on. That's a life stuck in the rat race. The people who really love you will love you for the man you are, and not the material items you own. This has always been the truth – but so many men choose to buy into the idea that “the more I own, the more of a man I am.” And that idea slowly kills every one of those men. Life is short, and there are so few things that really matter in the end. What will you take with you to the grave, except the memories, experiences and joy you had while you were in this world? We all know what really matters to us. But we often choose to ignore those things, because then we'd have to look in the mirror and face the scary reality that our life is nothing like we hoped it'd be when we were 10 years old full of innocent hopes and dreams. Remember that 10-year-old boy?

Andrew quit his comfy corporate job back in 2013, had $14.64 to his name and was sleeping on his brothers couch with a little puppy yorki (who would lick his face every morning to wake me up!) when he founded Knowledge For Men, LLC. He is now the host of the top ranked mens podcast Knowledge For Men with millions of downloads in over 100 countries, a blog with millions of visitors, 3x amazon best selling author on topics around dating, relationships, break ups and porn, and leads live intensive personal development events for men in Southern California. Why is it that CEOs, Entrepreneurs and High Performers can crush goal after goal yet still feel empty and unfulfilled inside? Do you work 12-16 hour days skipping lunches and days off to pursue your goals? How much more do you have to work until you can finally have it all? Does that next raise, hitting that next income level or closing that next deal really going to change the quality of your life? I know me too, because I found myself in the same spot. Whatever we're doing to sacrifice for achievement isn't working, because what we're sacrificing is far more valuable to us than what we're gaining through constant work. Something is seriously wrong with this idea of “success at all costs” and no one seems to be talking about it. Listen to learn more!
I AM MY DEEDS… So recently, I had the pleasure of being a guest on two other podcasts; I was on Father Nation with the host Jesse Foster, and that episode went live on July 9th, so you can listen to it right now if you want to. His podcast is designed for guys who are fathers, and he has guests who come on and share their experience and try to help men become better fathers. The second show I was on is a hugely popular show called Knowledge For Men, hosted by Andrew Ferebee. His is a very well established podcast, they have been going for about three years and he imparts manly wisdom to his listeners twice a week and he has a lot of awesome guests…like myself. We had a fantastic talk about all kinds of things. His shows are usually around 30 – 40 minutes, but we were talking for over an hour without even noticing. I’m really looking forward to that episode going live, which it should in the next couple weeks. I’ll let you know when it does, that’s one reason to get on the Facebook page and the email list…so you don’t miss stuff like that. Both of these hosts are great guys and I had a blast being on their show, I encourage you to check them out. There are links to both shows above…in case you missed it. When I was talking with Andrew on Knowledge for Men one of the first things he wanted to know was if I had a success quote, a mantra, an inspirational phrase that I used in my life. I did have one, and after the interview I was thinking about it and it occurred to me that I don’t think I have ever shared this phrase with you guys here on being a better man. I don’t know why I haven’t…because it is a phrase I adopted about ten years ago that pretty much changed my life. It is a phrase I say at least once a day and I usually think about it several more times each day. This simple phrase is integral in the success of my personal journey to be a better man today than I was yesterday. So, I decided now was a good time to share it with you guys. It’s a very short, simple phrase, it has four words....
"I was just doing it for myself. I was coming out of a break up and I had just quit my job and I was in a place of pain... it was a broken-hearted pain and a lost pain... I didn't know what I was doing..." If you know a young man ages 20- 45ish... Andrew Ferebee is the guy he should know and Knowledge For Men is the blog and podcast he should subscribe to! That "pain" was the impetus that launched Knowledge For Men. Andrew Ferebee was grappling with extreme personal challenges and at the age of twenty-four began his blog as a way to help him sort out his issues, vent, pose some big life questions and at the same time share his journey. Andrew became an avid personal development student, devouring hundreds of self help books, going to events and as he wrote about and shared what he learned his blog grew rapidly in popularity! Less than a year into his endeavor he had 700,000 views per month and recognized his struggle was resonating with thousands of young men around the world. Today, his podcast, Knowledge For Men has over 2.4 Million downloads. In this "in the studio", in-person interview Martin and Andrew's cover: -The struggle, pain and confusion that launched the blog and podcast -How he felt "lost" without purpose and direction -How KFM was not about a business but about him sorting through his challenges -His constant push and challenge to keep growing and push outside the comfort zone - example his weekend event that just wrapped up! -What success is— how he defines it - Why action is so important - The perfect thing to say to the opposite sex and in even in public environments - Three powerful and important habits he's developed - Some of his favorite/transformational books (below) "I buy books like candy... I go into Amazon and I'm like a kid in a candy store..." "If I didn't hit my goal I would still count myself as a success because I still did it and the next time I do it I will be that much better." "I can learn whatever I need to learn to get where ever I want to get... that is what dating taught me and that is what a lot of these personal development books taught me." ---------------------------------------------------- Subscribe Don't miss a single episode. From wantrepreneur to real-life success story. "Instead of wondering when your next vacation is, maybe you should set up a life you don't need to escape from." - Seth Godin The Cheat Sheet: The good and the bad types of wantrepreneurs. How many views did his first article receive in its first 24 hours online? He was a bad writer in school: true or false? Why did he start his podcast? Who are some of his most notable interviewees on his show? Why you need to be the author of your own life. And so much more... If you've ever found yourself feeling stifled, uninspired or even depressed it might be because you're in the wrong career. You might be an entrepreneur trapped in an employee's life. Such was the case for our guest for episode 319. Andrew Ferebee was a manager at a big chain retailer when he realized he was actually an entrepreneur. But it wasn't one of those epiphanies he had in a nanosecond, instead it was a battle with clinical depression combined with a quest for personal growth that led him to this discovery. In this episode we cover what the experience of depression was like for him, how he moved forward with his life and took an incredible leap of faith that has paid off handsomely with his brand Knowledge For Men. More About This Show: Today Andrew is the headmaster at Knowledge For Men, a web site and podcast about helping guys create their best, most fulfilling lives. But this was a business idea born from his disenchantment, loss and depression. It all began with his first job out of college. He became a manager for a well-known retailer who gave him one of their most high-risk stores in Southern California. By high-risk they meant high problems, like sketchy neighborhood, less than stellar employees, high turnover and just a lot of headaches in general. At the same time, his social network was completely changing post-college and he lost a romantic relationship with a woman he wanted to marry. He soon found himself dreading the work day and the monotony of it. That monotony led to an episode of clinical depression that was so severe one day while driving over a bridge, he wondered to himself what it would be like if he simply drove off the edge. He wondered if it would take away all the gut-wrenching pain he was struggling with. Having a level of self-awareness, Andrew understood he needed help and reached out for counseling. He was diagnosed with clinical depression and combined his treatment with massive action and personal growth to pull himself out of his depressive state. He read tons and tons of books on the subject, in fact he still does. And he listened to hours of podcasts like this one and many others while on his way to and from work. He also made it a goal to attend meet ups and become friends with other "wantrepreneurs" and real-life entrepreneurs. Finally one day he decided he had had enough and it was time to leave his soul-sucking job. Without a real game plan, he did. He spent the first week celebrating, the second week freaking out and then published an article on a blog called Knowledge For Men. That article, without any push or marketing from him, went viral. In its first 24 hours it was read by 50,000 people. He had so many visitors to his site that it crashed and he had to upgrade! That trend continued with the next batch of content he released and he knew he was on to something. That was in the spring of 2013 and since then, he has grown his blog to become a web site and a podcast. He leveraged his blog audience to gain an even larger podcast listenership and to land such well-known guests as Jordan Belfort, the Wolf of Wall Street and Kevin Harrington of TV's Shark Tank. Andrew attributes his success to his openness to personal growth and his willingness to take massive action on goals he sets for himself. He was an attendee at our bootcamp and says it not only taught him new tactics but also helped him take action to implement them. He learned how to improve his social life of course, but it all parlayed into him becoming a more solid person and a force to be reckoned with in the business world. Please join me in thanking Andrew for sharing his stories with us. He's a shining example of how to overcome any challenge or obstacle put in your path by seeking support, setting goals and applying yourself to the achievement of them. He was a terrific guest and we appreciate him for stopping by. Thanks for being here and we'll see you next time. THANKS ANDREW!
