Security Guard Shot at Drake's Toronto Residence Amid Feud with Kendrick Lamar Police in Toronto say a security guard at Drake's Toronto home was severely injured in a shooting carried out by several individuals in a car. This all happened on Tuesday morning. The alleged victim has been identified as a security guard working at the residence. He has been taken to the hospital in serious condition. Apparently this was all live streamed on CBS up in Toronto. The security guard was standing outside of the gate in front of the residence when the shooting occurred. I gotta tell you, this all begs the question, has this war of words between Drake and Kendrick Lamar gone too far? Stay tuned, there is more on this one. Met Gala Highlights: Zendaya Dazzles in Dual Outfits as Cardi B Requires Team Assistance on the Red Carpet Hats off to Cardi B, Bad Bunny, and Colman Domingo. They all slayed at the Met Ball. And, of course, there is Zendaya, who just brings it every time. She had two different outfits on. You know, there was a theme of the environment of land, sea, and sky. And everybody seemed to really, really nail it. By the way, Cardi B had to be carried up the carpet by nine or ten people because her gown was so big. I don't know how these people sit down once they get up those stairs. Anyway, the gala raises money for the Fashion Institute and I hear the tickets run around $75,000 and up, so I'm sure they did pretty well in the fundraising department. When Life Takes an Unexpected Turn: Embracing the Role of Caregiver Imagine receiving a call that would turn your world upside down. For Mark Steven Porro, a carefree bachelor living in Los Angeles, that call came from his brother in New Jersey. Their mother was on her deathbed. Dropping everything, Mark flew home, not knowing that this trip would change his life forever. In the latest episode of ‘Bump in the Road,' we hear Mark's incredible story of transformation from an actor and entrepreneur to a devoted son and caregiver. His mother, once in a semi-comatose state, miraculously recovered after a rogue hospice nurse broke protocol, leading to Mark's decision to move back into his childhood home and assume full-time care for his mother. Care often came down to the little things: “One of the first things I did…She had these old drab day dresses and stuff like that. And I said, I don't want my mom looking like an old lady. So I bought her a new wardrobe. And that cheered her up immensely.” Mark's narrative is not just a story of caregiving; it's a journey of personal growth, humor, and empathy. He shares the challenges of changing diapers, learning to provide medical care, and even renovating the family home to make it more comfortable for his mother. Through it all, Mark maintains a sense of humor and a deep love for his mother, which he expresses in poignant, often hilarious anecdotes. The episode is a heartfelt exploration of what it means to care for someone at the end of their life. Mark's story is a testament to the strength of the human spirit and the profound impact we can have on each other's lives. It's a narrative that will make you laugh, cry, and reflect on the power of love and family. What they're saying: “This is a beautiful book about life, its imperfections, its challenges, and its joys. It is a book of hope and wisdom for all of us facing a bump in the road.” –Pragito Dove “Pat has woven together beautiful stories of life setbacks that have been transformed into spiritual growth. This book is a gift and a must-read for souls experiencing pain and yearning for growth.” –Gary Hensel Learn more at Follow Bump on: ➡️ ➡️ ➡️ ➡️ ➡️

Length of article: 4 pagesLength of audio: 11 minutes 23 secondsSynopsis: This is the audio version of an article I re-published on 5/15/23 (originally published on Kol ha'Seridim on 5/22/20) entitled: Bamidbar: The Terminal Bachelorhood of Nadav and Avihu. The deaths of Nadav and Avihu are recorded in Shemini, but Bamidbar adds one more clue to their story – a clue which is unpacked in the midrashim, and grants us a different perspective on their sin.If you enjoy these 1-page articles (and my other written content), be sure to subscribe (for free!) to my substack at rabbischneeweiss.substack.com. -----The Torah content for the first part of this week has been sponsored by Shmuel "with hakaras ha'tov to Hashem (and many yidden) on his engagement to Hadassa."-----If you've gained from what you've learned here, please consider contributing to my Patreon at www.patreon.com/rabbischneeweiss. If you had told our hosts at the beginning of this podcasting journey they'd be watching this many movies that feature cougars, it's hard to imagine they'd believe you. Yet here we are, watching CHARLIE, THE LONESOME COUGAR - another entry in the "animal does stuff while a folksy voice narrates" Disney subgenre. At least this time there's a dog named Chainsaw, milk shenanigans, and a climax where it looked like we might actually see a person get mauled by a big cat.
Phillip Lopate, a central figure in the revival of the American essay joins Let's Talk Memoir for a conversation about the integral role the divided self plays in memoir, striking the balance between telling and showing, how knowing your own flaws and defects helps build trust with the reader, why the intelligent narrator must be present from page one, and why having an interesting take on your story is as if not more important than the story itself. Faith acknowledges the needs of the heart and relates them to Jesus. However, due to original sin, we often sit in self-made aloneness, failing to bring our needs to him. Filled with anxiety and worry, we try to fix ourselves, not realizing that this tendency arises from the often-misunderstood vice of sloth. It's time we kick the spiritual bachelor out of the basement and open up to Christ in prayer. In this three-part series, Msgr. Thomas Richter offers an overarching vision of the Christian interior life. Genesis 2:4-14 ~ Bachelorhood In Paradise by Mesa Hills Bible Church
On Duel, we chat about the final season of HBO's Game of Thrones. White Josh doesn't like the pacing, but T.R. Simms wishes previous seasons had this pace. Everyone knew Daenerys Targaryen was batshit crazy since she emerged from the fire; she killed a lot of people before King's Landing. Also, White Josh is afraid of scary movies, so we try to convince him to try some new and old favorites. --This week's episode is sponsored by Gold Diggers, a new audio drama about four women who must learn how to support their wealthy men or pay a devasting price.
Today’s Duel is a round table and we’re playing Would You Rather? We will ask each other would you rather questions across a few topical areas. Here’s the thing, we have to pick one. No, liberal neither’s or conservative but’s. You gotta pick one. Would you rather be alone for the rest of your life or always be surrounded by annoying people?Would you rather have the police hunting you for a murder you didn’t commit or a psychopathic clown hunting you?Would you rather have one nipple or two belly buttons?Would you rather never use social media sites / apps again or never watch another movie or TV show? What would you pick?--This week's episode is sponsored by Gold Diggers, a new audio drama about four women who must learn how to support their wealthy men or pay a devasting price.
The week's Duel we discuss #MGTOW (Men Going Their Own Way) and The Haunting of Hill House. An online forum has spawned into a movement in recent years; MGTOW are men who’ve decided to swear off dating, consumerism, and other social constructs that degrade, humiliate, or exclude men. But first AM Frasier and Josh Scott try to convince T.R. Simms that The Haunting of Hill House is at least an 8.1.

Something all men have in common is that one point in their lives they're all bachelors, that is, they've never been married. What's interesting is that there's been very little written about the history and sociology of bachelorhood. Well, my guest today is the author of one of the few books on the topic. His name is Howard Chudacoff and he's the author of the book, The Age of the Bacehlor. Dr. Chudacoff and I discuss the influence bachelors in America have had on American masculinity, particularly the bachelors who lived during the late 19th century or "Golden Age of Bachelorhood." It was during this time that bars, barbershops, and pool halls became masculine institutions and the traditionally male past times like sports rose in prominence in the U.S.
