Clip of the Week-"Patience and Comfort of the Scripture" Brother Ryan Collier Bro. Ryan uses the familiar experience of Rahab the Harlot to explain how we through the patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. Even though perhaps disillusioned with her present life, Rahab heard of the Israel's deliverance through the Red Sea, and made decisions that contributed to the linage of Jesus Christ while providing an allegory of the scarlet thread of the blood of Jesus Christ. Brother David Cosby
We've shared some details about our older brother Ryan's life, his wrongful conviction, and his tragic and early passing, but this is an episode we truly never thought we would record. A couple of weeks ago, a few videos caught fire on social media, which propelled Ryan into a lot of people's lives unexpectedly. With that came an immense amount of love, but also a fair amount of questioning around his circumstances, particularly the validity of his claim of innocence. We decided that the most compassionate and loving thing we could do for him would be to share his story and clear his name ourselves, since his lawyers and the courts failed to do so in his life. In today's episode, we take you through every aspect of the case. We'll detail the circumstances of the crimes, the prosecution's case against him, and all of the things that prove his innocence: forensic evidence, an alibi, a witness recanting her identification, and a confession letter from the actual perpetrator seven years into Ryan's prison sentence. We hope you'll come to this conversation with some patience (lol it's a long but GOOD one) and an open heart. Ryan, this one is definitely for you, for all that you endured. We see you, we miss you, and we love you. To the victims of these crimes: we empathize with you deeply and wish you nothing but healing.
If you've followed us on Instagram for even just a few days, chances are you've seen our brother Ryan posted somewhere along the way. We've shared bits and pieces about Ryan's wrongful conviction, his death, and our grief journey as a family, but we haven't felt ready to dive deep into what happened until now. It wouldn't be possible to explain his whole life or the extent of our brother's vibrance or importance to us in one podcast episode. Rather, our hope for today's episode is to further contextualize not only the work we do in justice reform, but why we are so passionate about sharing Ryan and his beautiful humanity with the world the way that we do. We couldn't be more proud to be your baby sisters, Ryry. You'll live through us forever. We miss you. We love you.

In The Drop Zone Hunting is a group of passionate deer hunters that just talk deer talk! No sugar coating just talking real talk!
On this episode, I am joined by Katie Kenney - another beautiful coffee shop friend from my old neighborhood in Queens. Katie tells me about making her dream of living in New York City come true, which involved a difficult break up followed by an epic cross-country road trip with her grandpa and her dog Chuck, who are both no longer with us physically but certainly here in spirit. Katie quite literally came a long way from slinging car tires to Utah moms to being at the center of the crazy world of New York City advertising agencies. And none of that might have ever happened without her brother Ryan's love for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade…
Returning to the podcast is my 3% brother Ryan Kaufman! Ryan's life often feels like a Venn diagram. Ryan the person loves listening to metal and The Grateful Dead. Ryan the person is a sneakerhead who reads Punisher comic books at night. Ryan the person is also queer — bisexual — and a recovered alcoholic. Brother Ryan, on the other hand, is a man who has taken strict religious vows. Brother Ryan is a man who believes in the beauty of communal living. Brother Ryan spends his life dedicated to service through education. These two versions of Ryan must find a way to exist together, or he could lose everything.

AL and Tom are joined by Ryan and Rory Van Tuinten. Upon breezing through a local newspaper, Tom found an inspiring story about a fellow Vermonter who managed to kick heroin addiction with the help of Ayahuasca and his Brother Ryan. Ryan used Ayahuasca which is a hallucinogen that is illegal in the US and UK, to help him with depression. Rory, his brother was suffering badly with his addiction to heroin and was on a very high dose (160mg!!) of methadone, which he labels as "liquid handcuffs". Ayahuasca was introduced to Rory as a way to try and wean himself of the methadone, which proved highly successful. Listen podcast is a heartfelt, inspiring discussion that could potentially help others. Or at least this can open up healthy discussions where people can open up about addiction. You can get in touch with Rory and Ryan through their very helpful website https://www.cultivatingconnectionsvt.com/ They are eager to talk to other and possibly help others through their fight with addiction. Previous to the interview, AL and Tom get into a full review of Mortal Kombat (spoilers). PHOTO CREDIT: JEB WALLACE-BRODEUR

In this episode of Among The People, we are excited to welcome the newly ordained Maryknoll Brother, Br. Ryan Thibert. Although Br. Ryan recently took his permanent oath to a life of service with the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers, he has already had a substantial amount of experience as a missioner. With life changing experiences situations in Jamaica and Bolivia, Br. Ryan learned early in his mission experience that 'being present' for those most in need has helped not only those he serves, but also himself during the most difficult times in mission. About Br. Ryan Thibert, M.M. Brother Ryan Thibert acknowledges that he felt an attraction to religious life growing up in a strong Catholic family. He sought direction from his parish priest, who knew Maryknoll and thought it might be a good fit for his mission-oriented parishioner. Brother Ryan Thibert is a native of Ontario, Canada. He was born a minute after his twin brother, Aaron, and four years after their sister, Jennifer. He credits his parents, Larry and Rox-Ann Thibert, for his love of service because of their unconditional love. Having met Society members like Brother Robert Butsch has helped Ryan. He says it is by witnessing how passionate they are about their work and seeing how the Holy Spirit seem to work through them inspired him. He became aware that he can use his own educational background and artistic talent to help people be the best they can be. “I realize that it is in living for others through Christ where I feel truly happy and at peace.” ~ Brother Ryan Thibert, M.M. A short-term mission trip to Jamaica with three other prospective Maryknoll candidates sealed his decision. Working at the Blessed Sacrament Orphanage in Montego Bay, and remembering the Franciscan brother who had come to console his family when his grandfather died made him realize that being present, giving life to those who need love is the essence of the brother’s vocation. That is what he felt the Holy Spirit was calling him to do. So in 2011, he decided to join the Maryknoll Brothers’ formation program. He completed his undergraduate degree in art at St. Xavier University in Chicago all the while deepening his spirituality through prayer and theological studies. He underwent his overseas training program in Cochabamba, Bolivia, where young missioners are immersed in language study and life in another culture as well as various pastoral works as they continue to discern their call to cross-cultural mission. He will return to Latin America where he has been assigned to work in mission.

Very happy and grateful to be able to sit down with my brother and record this podcast to share with everyone. He is the lead singer of a Reggae band called Buddahfly who are part of the Roots Musician Records Label out of San Diego. More importantly he is one of the most knowledgeable people I know in the realms of consciousness, overcoming addictions, creative expression, and all things plant medicine. In this episode we get into his story of overcoming drug addiction from a young age after being prescribed to a host of anti-psychotics when being diagnosed as Bi-Polar. This would transition into a several years long battle with opiate addiction which he was able to quit cold turkey and has since been off all prescription drugs for 9 years. We also dive into so many different topics around self discovery, healing yourself of old emotional patterns, knowing your true purpose, becoming unstuck, healing your mind, and finding bliss from within along with many others in this jam packed episode with SO MUCH useful information. If you know anyone struggling with addiction or just feeling stuck in their lives this is a must listen. Please share this with anyone who you think might benefit from a conversation like this. Spreading the light as always, Much Love everyone!

My brother, Ryan, was in town to visit. We were sitting on the couch having this great conversation when I asked him, "How would you feel about having this conversation on the microphones and sharing it?" He chuckled and said he thought I'd ask that. It's a very serious conversation about who your friends are, who you hang out with, and who is worthy of your time. You can't be close friends with everyone. It's also a conversation about the power of your words. Here's how Ryan puts it: "Everywhere I go, the relationships I have, the people I speak to, I have an opportunity to make a lasting impact on the way that they see life and the way they treat other people."
Brother Ryan joins Mike to go through their top 10 television shows of all--time. It gets rather intense!
