On today's Daily Puck Drop, Jason “Puck” Puckett is joined by Jim Moore and an emergency visit with John Canzano from JohnCanzano.com to discuss the departure of Washington State Cougars head coach Jake Dickert. Jim joins Puck for an hour to discuss the move and then Canzano jumps on for the final thirty minutes of the show to give a behind the scenes look to what transpired and what led Dickert to bolt for Wake Forest. Why did Dickert leave? The move obviously changes how Puck and Jim view Dickert. Is there an understanding to why Dickert left? Puck once again referenced his common line with coaches, they all are Professional Liars. Now that Dickert is gone and over 20 players are in the transfer portal, including 10 starters. Do the Cougars have enough players to play in the Holiday Bowl against Syracuse? Should the school even allow them to play?Canzano takes Puck behind the scenes to the departure and why it's critical for Washington State athletic director Anne McCoy to move fast with a new hire. John asks the question how culpable is the WSU Board of Regents? Did the Regents make a mistake of not locking him up to a contract sooner? Why did Dickert choose Wake Forest, a historically bad football program? Canzano opines that Dickert was just fed up with the system and wanted a change of scenery. Dickert's abrupt departure calls into question his commitment to the team late in the season. Was there late season collapse a result of he and other coaches not being full engaged with WSU?Finally, Puck wraps up the show with “Hey, What the Puck!?” College sports have been forever ruined. No turning back. Loyalty and commitment are the way of the past.
The John Canzano Show with Jason “Puck” Puckett starts off with the decision by John Mateer to leave Washington State and enter the transfer portal. The move is a big loss for the Cougars but is it the right move for college football? John has intel on the reported offers for Mateer and they were out of reach for the Cougars. Should we be upset that Mateer left Pullman? All signs are pointing to Mateer landing in Oklahoma. Rumors of tampering have run rampant associated with Mateer and Oklahoma. How do we fix the transfer portal? Canzano shares his ideas on to fix the system and why it's currently broken. The girlfriend of Travis Hunter is receiving heat online. John shares he's a little concerned about Hunter's future in the NFL and who he surrounds himself with. Washington and Oregon fans are upset about their Big 10 schedule in 2025. Canzano says the Huskies and Ducks have zero reason to complain or be upset.
Tuesday's edition of the Daily Puck Drop with host Jason “Puck” Puckett and his weekly Tuesday guests, Danny Kelly, The Ringer and John Canzano, JohnCanzano.com. Today's show covers the health of Geno Smith, John Mateer, problems with the transfer portal, why the NFL hates Bill Belichick and the Seahawks playoff chances. Puck opens the show with the news on Geno Smith and his health. Good news for Seattle because as Puck noted, you don't want to see Sam Howell play. Another Washington State player hits the portal and the latest moves has Puck worked up because the agent for Fa'alili Fa'amoe tried to extort the collective and the coaches. Three games remain for Seattle and they still control their own destiny. Danny Kelly, The Ringer, joins Jason “Puck” Puckett for his weekly chat about the NFL, Seahawks and fantasy football advice. Danny and Puck joke that the Hawks are back to sucking after their Packers loss. Both agree that they expected the loss, but not in that fashion. Sure appears the 49ers are done and could Kyle Shanahan be on his way out? Would they consider trading him to the Chicago Bears? Are they really going to pay Brock Purdy top quarterback money??what arch is the right fit for Caleb Williams? Sure feels Kliff Kingsbury will get another shot in the NFL and it could be with the Bears. Puck contends that USC would love for Lincoln Riley to jump to the NFL and join the Bears. Bill Belichick is at North Carolina because no one wanted him in the NFL…why? NFL teams don't want to give up power to an ego maniac. Football season winding down and that means fantasy football playoff time. Danny updates on the best last second waiver wire pickups for your playoff push. Lastly, they put another NFL figure on The Barge…who is it this week? Finally, “Hey, What the Puck?!” Puck wants Cougar fans to stop posting a picture of Mateer on social media and saying, ‘Coug Forever.'
John Canzano, JohnCazano.com, joins Jason “Puck” Puckett for his weekly conversation on all things college football. They jump right into the discussion surrounding the state of the Washington State Cougars. Jake Dickert is at a breaking point right now. He has to hire two new coordinators and has to guard against other schools from poaching his players, specifically John Mateer. Speaking of Mateer, Canzano thinks Mateer will enter the portal and leave WSU. John also offers advice on who Dickert should surround himself on his coaching staff and Puck brings up the name, Dennis Erickson. What was John's takeaway from Oregon's win over Washington? Also, Demond Williams is a star in the making for Washington. Can the Huskies keep him?The story of the turnaround at ASU under Kenny Dillingham is why you love sports. Has the sleeping giant finally awoken in Tempe?
On Tuesday's Daily Puck Drop, Jason “Puck” Puckett is joined by his weekly guests, Danny Kelly, The Ringer and John Canzano, JohnCanzano.com. Puck opens up the show talking about the Seahawks and the five remaining game of the season. Can they three more wins? What steps needs to be taken to improve the running game? How does this weeks game plan change after seeing Arizona just two weeks ago? Also, Cougar nation is on edge right now with offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle leaving for Oklahoma. Puck tells fans to relax. It's going to be ok. Danny Kelly, The Ringer, joins Jason “Puck” Puckett to talk about the absurd Seahawks game and how close they were to losing the game. The defense is playing at an all-time level right now, especially Leonard Williams. Devon Witherspoon is proving to be the second coming of the Legion of Boom. How to solve the running game? Is the problem with Ryan Grubb or is the problem with the offensive line? Ken Walker and Grubb need to get it going fast because Walker is one hell of a talent. How things have changed for the Seahawks? They are 7-5 and alone in first place! Just three weeks ago, Puck was talking about tanking the season! Danny also touches in on fantasy football and gives Puck his Tuesday weekly wire pick ups. They also put another person on “The Barge” out to the Pacific Ocean. This one is well deserved. John also offers advice on who Dickert should surround himself on his coaching staff and Puck brings up the name, Dennis Erickson. What was John's takeaway from Oregon's win over Washington? Has the sleeping giant finally awoken in Tempe?Puck wraps up the show with, “Hey, What the Puck!?” Major League Baseball is considering a new rule called the “Golden At-Bat” and Puck absolutely hates the idea. He begs baseball to remain baseball and not some side show.
On today's Daily Puck Drop, Jason “Puck” Puckett was joined by his weekly guests, Danny Kelly, The Ringer and John Canzano, JohnCanzano.com Puck starts off the show talking about the Washington State Cougars chances of making the College Football Playoffs as the first rankings come out on Tuesday night. Puck reacts to the show on Monday where Jim Moore, the Go-2-Guy, would rather see the Huskies lose all their games rather than win, which would help out the Cougars. Puck thinks Jim and any Cougars fan that thinks that way is crazy. You already beat them! If the Huskies beat Penn State and Oregon it makes the Cougars win look better. It's an absolute no brainer to root for Washington. Danny Kelly, The Ringer, who covers all things NFL pays Jason “Puck” Puckett a visit and they look back to the Seahawks loss to the Rams and the things they could have done better to secure the win. They jumped into the decision to go for it on 4th down and the play call that they went with. Can Ryan Grubb and the offense really get to their playbook if they can't actually block?Puck asked Danny if after nine games it's fair to question whether the decision to hire Mike Macdonald was the correct one? The team has been as sloppy as they have ever been. Is that the result of coaching? What about the future of Seahawks GM/President John Schneider? Under his tenure they have failed to address the offensive line and have had no plan at quarterback since Russell Wilson left. If they can't turn this around in the next year or two, Schneider will find himself out of a job. Lastly, Danny answers your fantasy football questions as it's “Waiver Wire Tuesday”. John Canzano, JohnCanzano.com, drops by to talk all things college football. Do the Cougs have a realistic shot at 11-1 and squeaking into the College Football Playoff? What did Canzano think of Jim Moore's thoughts about not rooting for UW, despite it benefiting the Cougars. Puck reiterates how crazy Jim is for thinking this way. Jake Dickert has been consistent to wanting to only coach ten more years and he's made it clear that he wants it to be in Pullman. What is his contract status? Jim has all the info from inside the building on his current deal and what a future deal could deal could look like. When USC and Jen Cohen decide to fire Lincoln Riley, who does John think she will call first? Three big names and all with Northwest ties. Finally, John and Puck talk about how society has lost its civility and its ability to communicate and interact with one another. Latest examples were the Jason Kelce incident at Penn State and Joel Embiid with a Philadelphia columnist. Lastly, “Hey, What the Puck!?” Puck responds more to the lost civility in our society and addresses the recent layoffs at iHeartMedia and why he has never regretted his decision to leave the station he loved.
