Easter IV (May 11 2025)What is your “full name” — the thing that people say after your name that completes their description of you? For example, “That is Jane, she is a great teacher” or “That is Sam, he is an amazing basketball player”Today we learn the full name of an early believer in the book of Acts (9:36-43): Tabitha, aka Dorcas, “was always doing good and helping the poor…” What a beautiful full name!Pastor Rob offers a word of challenge today: In your quest to make a good full name for yourself, have you focused on the right things? It is very tempting to focus on the “resume” virtues instead of the “obituary” virtues! There is also a profound word of grace today in today's reading, a reminder that ultimately, God has the last word on our name and not our mistakes, failures or bad things that have happened to us.Note: I do not have permission (yet) to post this artwork by a Christian artist named Sarah Beth, but I found it so beautiful! In this episode we're talking to Sara-Beth Reuter about her inspiring journey to home birth. Sara-Beth is a great example of courage and determination. After her doctor told her that she would not be able to deliver naturally and would need a c-section because of the size of her baby, she and her husband Matthew decided to get another opinion on the matter. They reached out to Matthew's grandmother, an experienced midwife, and explored their options. Already not too keen on hospitals and clear that she wanted a natural birth, at 19 years old and 31 weeks pregnant, Sara-Beth switched over to the midwifery model of care and planned for a home birth with the help of Matthew's grandmother. Sara-Beth has a solid sense of confidence in her body's ability to do what it's meant to do, and it comes across when she talks about the rest of her pregnancy and her birth. Sarah-Beth believes that “labor is not a sickness,” and is all about putting empowering information out there to support women in having a home birth if that's what they want for themselves and their families. We're so grateful to her for sharing her time with us, especially with 2-month old baby Silas in the picture. We understand how valuable time is for a new mama! What's up, Horror Junkies? This week, I'm joined by Sarah Beth to celebrate my birthday as we take a deep dive into the 10 horror films that shaped my love for the genre. From the meta-horror brilliance of Scream to the relentless terror of Halloween and A Nightmare on Elm Street, we explore how slasher icons like Ghostface, Michael Myers, and Freddy Krueger redefined horror and kept us up at night. We then shift gears to the chilling realism of The Strangers and the tragic horror of Carrie, analyzing how psychological and home invasion horror tap into our deepest fears. The conversation continues with supernatural terror in Paranormal Activity and gothic romance in Bram Stoker's Dracula, proving that horror thrives in both the unseen and the poetic. Finally, we round out the discussion with the anthology brilliance of Trick ‘r Treat, the gruesome fate of Final Destination, and the apocalyptic chaos of Zack Snyder's Dawn of the Dead. Join us for a journey through the films that left a permanent scar on our horror-loving hearts. Don't forget to subscribe, leave a review, and let us know which horror films shaped you!Thank you, everyone, for your support. An introverted librarian with a talking plant escapes a burning city to flee to her island home out in the boondocks. A gorgeous neighbor delivers her delicious treats. And that's as far as Jordan got in this book. Despite its GoodReads Choice Award nomination, this one is standing on a pretty cover and a cottage-core setting only. It's not bad, it's boring...and blue. The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst
Caitlin Davies performs Sarah Beth Durst's enchanting fantasy story about a reclusive librarian finding her way home. Host Jo Reed and AudioFile's Emily Connelly discuss the fun of listening to this magical audiobook. Academic librarian Kiela has lived in the Great Library of Alyssium for years, caring for the Empire's spellbooks with only a sentient spider plant named Caz for company. When the fires of the Revolution reach the library, they escape by sea to her secluded childhood home with a few crates of precious books. Could she use their magical knowledge to aid the struggling islanders without risking her safety? And why are they all so friendly?? Davies uses a prim yet empathetic narration that suits the introverted librarian and brings the colorful cast of characters to life for listeners. Read our review of the audiobook at our website. What's up, you creepy fools? This week on the podcast, I'm joined by Sarah Beth, Bobby Skullface, Mrs. Skullface, and Jaina as we dive into the legacy of one of the most iconic horror films ever, The Exorcist. From the groundbreaking story of demonic possession to the film's chilling on-set accidents, mysterious deaths, and long-lasting impact, this episode explores the infamous "cursed film" theory that has haunted the production and its legacy for decades. We'll unravel strange set mishaps like unexplained fires, cast injuries, and the tragic fates of those involved while debating whether these events were coincidences or evidence of something darker. Did the film's intense themes invite sinister forces, or were the tales of its curse amplified by media and cultural fears? Tune in as we dissect the myths, analyze the facts, and debate whether The Exorcist's legacy is rooted in real supernatural phenomena or Hollywood's love for a good scare. In this episode of the Play Therapy Podcast, I address a question from Sarah Beth in North Carolina about handling a tricky situation with two siblings in therapy. Sarah Beth's client feels jealous because his brother, who sees a different therapist with a more directive approach, receives prizes after his sessions. This difference has left Sarah Beth's client feeling upset, and she's looking for guidance on how to support him without introducing rewards or prizes into her child-centered play therapy (CCPT) practice. I explain why staying true to the CCPT model, which avoids external rewards, is crucial for the child's emotional growth and self-regulation. Instead, I suggest alternatives like offering a simple snack as a way to mark the end of each session without attaching any conditions or expectations. I encourage Sarah Beth to stay the course with reflective responses, acknowledging her client's feelings, and focusing on the deeper issues underlying his jealousy. Trick or treat, you spooky bastards. This week, Sarah Beth and I sit and discuss the 2007 anthology horror film Trick 'r Treat. We give a breakdown of each of the segments, we go over the central themes of the film, and we talk about Halloween traditions. Trick 'r Treat is an American anthology horror film directed by Michael Dougherty in his debut. The film features four interconnected Halloween-themed horror stories. A central figure in these stories is Sam, a trick-or-treating demon dressed in orange pajamas with a burlap sack over his head, who appears whenever someone breaks a Halloween tradition. Sam's presence ties the stories together, enforcing the rules of Halloween. Thank you, everyone, for your support. Sarah Beth Durst and Rebecca Thorne in Conversation
Nashville recording artist, singer, songwriter, and Transylvania University alum Sarah Beth Terry is the epitome of a woman raised in rural country who rejected societal norms and expectations. Sarah Beth admits she's relentless in her work. Her life motto is, “If I'm going to do it, I'm going to do it right.” As a staff writer for Three Hounds Music, she wrote 645 songs in 2018, exceeding her annual quota by 633 songs. “If I'm going to catch lightning,” she says, “I need to put about 70 lightning rods on the roof.” Terry has caught lightning a couple of times in her career with two well-placed cuts. One song, “We Are All God's Children,” is on the Gaither Vocal Band's album and quickly rose up the gospel charts. The second, a song that Sarah Beth co-wrote with songwriter and artist Anthony Smith, “I Hate the Taste of Whiskey,” was released by country artist Craig Morgan. Source: Three Hounds Music. When Paula was fenced in and punching a time clock, she said, “If I can make a living helping people, I'll have it made.” That's precisely what she did as a grant writer and what she's doing today as an author. Her life purpose is to help people transform their lives as she has, which inspired her to write Thought S.N.O.B.: The Modern Spiritual Playbook for a Better Life. Paula's relatable style has earned her a massive 260,000 social media followers across all platforms, with more than 6,500,000 video views. At 25, broke and miserable, she enrolled in college as a non-traditional student. Six years later, she obtained a bachelor's degree in political science and a master's degree in public administration. In May 2021, after working in fundraising for over a decade, Paula resigned to focus on her lifelong dream of being an author. Paula has studied spirituality for almost 20 years. Her studies include workshops with self-help giants like Wayne Dyer, Louise Hay, Deepak Chopra, and Abraham Hicks. Studying under the best, Paula figures she has accumulated 150,000 hours of experience in this field, making her an expert. She is trained in Transcendental Meditation, Primordial Sound Meditation, and Tapping. To expand her toolbox of offerings, she studies under Deepak Chopra himself. She has earned certifications in Meditation and Ayurveda Health and is working on the most prestigious credentialing offered by the Chopra Center, the Total Well-Being Coaching certification. Even though manifestation is something we do naturally, Paula believes some people must be taught. Her dedication to teaching vulnerable populations how to manifest the lives they deserve is her gift to the world. Coined by her followers as the “most relatable self-help influencer out there,” Paula's social media analytics show that she helps approximately 30,000 people daily through her social media posts and online workshops. Her posts and live events are attended by tens of thousands of viewers, drawn to her relatable style and easy-to-follow strategies. In Thought S.N.O.B., she picks up where her social media has left off, giving readers the tools to move from havoc to happiness. When she's not providing advice or running workshops on social media, Paula enjoys listening to music, and her taste is as diverse as her lifestyle. Don't be surprised to see her in the PIT for Machine Gun Kelly one weekend and then at Elvis Presley's Graceland the next. Paula thinks she's been to Graceland twelve times but admits she stopped counting long ago. She is a world traveler with an eye and an appetite for luxury, but Paula craves silence and solitude more than anything else. Even though she seizes every opportunity to experience new things and adventures, her favorite place is home with her husband and two dogs. Hey Fandom! Welcome back for another epic episode of Challengers Unplugged: Beyond The Edit with Kyland Young. This interview was conducted in two parts over a 5 day period where more of our team was available during the first part but not during the second part. We also upgrade our camera in between part 1 and part 2 so if you notice some differences there, that's why! Buckle in as we sit down with Kyland for over 3 hours of everything life, reality TV, Corporate America and so much more. We kick off by talking about where he was born and raised, what he wanted to be when he was younger, his college major and how he met his best friend Brett Savage. We also discuss a few of his previous jobs including working for Blavity, Cutco and Scholy. Then we break into his introduction into The Challenge, how difficult it was to send Sarah Beth home on Big Brother, why the BB house is the hardest for reality competition shows, why Big Brother contestants have seen so much success on The Challenge, and what has he learned about getting voted into elimination. We also discuss his diagnosis on the Spectrum, various game styles that can be successful on The Challenge, how he prepared with research before going onto The Challenge and was he contacted for World Championship? (0:00 - 1:01:00). In the second part we break into Kyland's time playing The Challenge and we start off by seeing which Challenge vet he would have chosen on Worlds, which type of players he wants to face in elimination, Goku mentality and which Marvel character is Kyland most like? We also find out how Kyland and Horacio met, who Kyland's only real friend was going into The Challenge 39, meeting Melissa, whether or not the country alliance was real, and what were the self nomination speeches really like? Do you sometimes struggle to stay focused and aligned in a busy world? I am so excited to share a conversation today about living in the messy reality, all whilst pursuing a life and business filled with spiritual wisdom. For me, blending strategy and energy has been fundamental to my success AND freedom, so I am thrilled to bring my amazing guest to you today. Sarah Beth Hunt is the creator of Messy Luminous Being, a meditation and yoga platform with a podcast, online journal, and memberships that help women weave inner practices into messy real life. Sarah has trained in the Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhist meditation, traditional yoga, and the school of messy real life with her partner & two beautifully wild boys. In this episode you will learn: >> How to open your mind to the soft whisper of intuition >> Practical tips on how to bring spiritual practices into your everyday life >> The beauty of breathwork and meditation, even when you don't have much time >> How vital it is to acknowledge the potential we all have for a negative mindset and behaviors and to make a conscious choice not to ‘feed this wolf'. It's hard to remember sometimes that the most important thing is who are ARE. Sarah Beth shares the idea of impermanence that's central to Buddhist teachings, and how critical it is to realize that what we will take with us are not the things we have, but the energy we create. The outside world constantly gives us opportunities to grow and develop our energy and as we grow, we attract the things and people we become more aligned to. And you just can't fake that energetic frequency! Many people out there are doing the same thing as you, but when it comes to resonance you are unique. You need to find the clients who are tuned in to you. Enjoy the listen! __________________________ Sarah-Beth's Ebook, Forward From Here: spiritual vision in pandemic times, is available here.
