Based on Mendoza's experiences during the Iraq War as a U.S. Navy SEAL, the film depicts an encounter he and his platoon experienced on November 19, 2006 in the wake of the Battle of Ramadi. To maintain historical accuracy, the film's material is exclusively taken from the testimonies of the platoon members, and is presented in real time. It stars an ensemble cast that includes D'Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai as Mendoza, alongside Will Poulter, Cosmo Jarvis, Kit Connor, Finn Bennett, Joseph Quinn, Charles Melton, Noah Centineo, and Michael Gandolfini. We then talk about 'Paths of Glory' a 1957 American anti-war film directed by Stanley Kubrick, from a screenplay he co-wrote with Calder Willingham and Jim Thompson. It is adapted from the 1935 novel of the same name by Humphrey Cobb, which was in turn was based on the Souain corporals affair during World War I. The film stars Kirk Douglas as Colonel Dax, the commanding officer of French soldiers who refuse to continue a suicidal attack, after which Dax defends them against charges of cowardice in a court-martial.

“War is hell” is a common phrase, but as we live our peacetime lives, it can be hard to visualize what that phrase really means. The movie “Warfare” provides a way to see and comprehend that phrase. The movie is directed by “Civil War” and “Ex Machina” director Alex Garland and Iraq War veteran Ray Mendoza. Mendoza was one of the soldiers in the middle of the real-life battle that this movie shows. Garland and Mendoza don't hold back on showing the shocking, brutal and bloody side of war. If you know someone with PTSD and you want to understand, at least a little bit better what would cause something like that, this movie is for you. In this movie, Navy SEALs are sent out into Ramadi, Iraq where they gather in a multi-story home to surveil insurgents. The team settles in and goes through the tedium of just sitting and observing. Their sniper starts noticing a build-up of men getting closer to their position and soon that quiet tedium is over as the explosions start and the bullets start flying. The team does all they can to fight off the insurgents and call in to get evacuated out but what happens next just ratchets things up to a whole other level. Is it worth finding out what that is in theaters? Check out this episode to find out! “Warfare” stars Will Poulter, D'Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai, Cosmo Jarvis, Joseph Quinn, Aaron Mackenzie, Alex Brockdorff, Finn Bennett, Evan Holtzman, Michael Gandolfini, Joe Macaulay, Laurie Duncan, Noah Centineo, Taylor John Smith and Charles Melton. Support the showFeel free to reach out to me via:@MoviesMerica on Twitter @moviesmerica on InstagramMovies Merica on Facebook

I FOUGHT IN RAMADI – Navy SEAL JP Dinnell Reviews "Warfare" (2025) JP Dinnell breaks down the new movie  @A24  movie Warfare by Ray Mendoza about the task unit that relieved TU Bruiser in Ramadi.  In this powerful episode of The JP Dinnell Podcast, JP delivers a raw, emotional, and brutally honest review of the 2025 war film “Warfare”, co-directed by Alex Garland and former Navy SEAL Ray Mendoza. But this isn't just another reaction video — JP Dinnell actually fought in the same battle space as depicted in the film. While most people see Warfare as a gripping, cinematic portrayal of urban combat in Ramadi, Iraq, JP lived it. He was part of Task Unit Bruiser, the most decorated special operations unit of the Iraq War, serving alongside warriors like Jocko Willink, Leif Babin, Marc Lee, and Michael Monsoor. His team was operating in Ramadi in 2006, directly before Alpha One, the SEAL unit depicted in Warfare, took over that area of operations. This review is more than just technical commentary — it's a glimpse into the real-world chaos, decision-making, emotion, and leadership that happened in those exact streets.

Send us a textIn the chaos of combat, what truly matters isn't the mission, but the harrowing moments that forever bind soldiers together. "Warfare," the latest from filmmaking duo Alex Garland and Ray Mendoza, strips away conventional war movie tropes to deliver something far more visceral and authentic.Based on Mendoza's actual experiences as a Navy SEAL during the Iraq War, this relentlessly tense 96-minute thriller drops viewers into the middle of a mission gone catastrophically wrong. When two platoons become trapped in a hostile urban environment, what follows is a masterclass in sustained tension and raw emotional devastation. Unlike traditional war films that provide character backgrounds or political context, "Warfare" deliberately avoids explaining why these soldiers are fighting—it simply shows, with unflinching clarity, what happens when young men face the brutal realities of combat. The film's exceptional sound design, crafted by Garland's longtime collaborator Glenn Freemantle, delivers an audio experience that shifts seamlessly between the chaotic cacophony of gunfire to the muffled, disorienting aftermath of blast trauma. Will Poulter leads a remarkable ensemble cast that includes Michael Galfianakis, Kit Connor, and Charles Melton, each delivering performances that capture not just the physical demands of warfare but the psychological toll of knowing death lurks around every corner. What makes "Warfare" particularly significant is how it represents Garland's artistic resurrection following his controversial 2022 film "Men." By partnering with Mendoza and focusing on craftsmanship rather than heavy-handed metaphors, Garland has rediscovered his filmmaking voice. This transformation mirrors other celebrated director comebacks we've witnessed over the years—from Wes Craven's "Scream" renaissance to Spike Lee's triumphant return with "BlacKkKlansman."Don't miss this opportunity to experience one of the most intense and authentic war films in recent memory. "Warfare" isn't just about combat—it's about bearing witness to the moments that forever change those who serve, and the brotherhood forged in circumstances most of us will never understand.Support the show

One of these stories had a resurrection that actually worked… This week on The Infamous Podcast, Brian and Darryl close the chapter on Daredevil: Born Again Season 1, and it's… a choice. Then they dig into Amazon's new supernatural bounty hunter series The Bondsman, which might just be the weirdest thing Prime Video has greenlit this month (and that's saying something). Darryl delivers a mini-review of The King of Kings—a cinematic sermon or box office blunder? Meanwhile, Brian charges in with a tactical breakdown of Warfare, where the explosions were loud and the film was in-ten-city-in-ten-cities. Episode Index Intro: 0:07 The King of Kings Mini-Review: 6:00 Warfare Mini-Review: 12:08 Daredevil: Born Again Finale: 21:50 The Bondsman Season 1: 36:11 Mini-Review: The King of Kings (2025) – Rating 8/10 Summary Directed by Seong-ho Jang, this animated film features Charles Dickens (voiced by Kenneth Branagh) narrating the life of Jesus to his son Walter, who imagines himself witnessing biblical events. The film combines a unique framing device with a faithful retelling of the Gospels, featuring voice talents like Oscar Isaac as Jesus and Mark Hamill as King Herod. It's a heartfelt, family-friendly portrayal that resonates with audiences of all ages. Mini-Review: Warfare (2025) – Rating 6.75/10 Summary Co-directed by Ray Mendoza and Alex Garland, “Warfare” offers a harrowing, real-time depiction of a Navy SEAL mission gone awry in Ramadi, Iraq. Based on Mendoza's own experiences, the film immerses viewers in the chaos of combat, highlighting the psychological toll on soldiers. With a strong ensemble cast and a commitment to authenticity, it's a visceral exploration of modern warfare's realities. Daredevil: Born Again (Disney+) Out of 5 Broken Batons Darryl: 2.75/5 Brian: 3.2/5 Season 1 Out of 10 Conflicted Catholics in Spandex Darryl: 6.25/10 Brian: 6.9/10 Summary In the finale titled “Straight to Hell,” Matt Murdock faces devastating losses: Foggy Nelson is murdered by Bullseye under Vanessa Fisk's orders, and Kingpin seizes control of New York, imposing martial law. Despite the chaos, Matt, with allies like Karen Page and the Punisher, begins to form a resistance, setting the stage for a darker, more intense Season 2. The Bondsman – Season 1 (Prime) Out of 10 Deals with the Devil Darryl: 7.5/10 Brian: 7.85/10 Summary The Bondsman is a supernatural western-action series from Amazon Prime that blends grit, grief, and a touch of hellfire. It follows Hub Halloran (played by Kevin Bacon), a grizzled and recently deceased bounty hunter who gets a second shot at redemption — but with a catch: he's brought back to life by the Devil himself to track down demons who've escaped Hell. Armed with his cowboy instincts, a sarcastic streak, and a growing sense of purpose, Hub rides across dusty towns and shadowy landscapes hunting hellspawn, questioning whether this is punishment, penance… or something more cosmic. Along the way, he reconnects with estranged family, forms an unlikely bond with a demon-turned-sidekick named Midge, and uncovers a deeper plot that could tear open the gates of Hell permanently. The tone walks a line between Justified and Supernatural, with bursts of dark humor, philosophical musings, and buckets of demon-slaying chaos. Bacon brings swagger and weariness in equal measure, anchoring a surprisingly emotional core in a show that never takes itself too seriously — until it suddenly does. Episode 1: “Hell to Pay” Bounty hunter Hub Halloran is murdered and resurrected by the Devil to hunt escaped demons, marking the start of his supernatural journey. Episode 2: “Dead Man's Debt” Hub captures an arsonist named Tater, uncovering a larger demonic plot. Episode 3: “Family Ties” Hub reconnects with his estranged family, seeking assistance in his mission. Episode 4: “Crossroads” A demon threatens a local community, forcing Hub to make a moral choice. Episode 5: “The Devil's Due” Hub confronts the consequences of his past actions as a bounty hunter. Episode 6: “Revelations” Hub uncovers a deeper conspiracy involving escaped demons and seeks help from Midge. Episode 7: “Pyralis” Hub and Midge attempt to prevent an apocalyptic event orchestrated by a powerful demon. Episode 8: “Lilith” Hub confronts his greatest sin and faces a formidable demonic adversary, seeking redemption. Alex Garland's latest film Warfare, which is co-directed by US military veteran Ray Mendoza turns back the clock back nearly twenty years to reconstruct a real-life surveillance mission in Iraq. Film critic Tim Robey and journalist Zing Tsjeng give their verdict on the analysis of the theatre of war, which unfolds in real time. They've also been to see Shanghai Dolls at London's Kiln Theatre - which spans six decades of Chinese history, focusing on the life of an actress who was to personify the terrifying face of the cultural revolution, Madame Mao. Literary critic Boyd Tonkin reflects on the legacy of Nobel prize-winning Peruvian writer Mario Vargas Llosa who has died at the age of 89. Samira and her guests have also been reading Katie Kitamura's new book Audition, about an actress who agrees to have dinner with a young man who seems fixated on her, and includes a 'sliding doors' alternative reality. And as the actress Cate Blanchett announces her intention to retire, Radio 4 listeners have a chance to hear her star in her first major radio drama The Fever, in which she plays a privileged woman who travels to a war-torn country and reflects on her comfortable life amidst the poverty of others. We present our Warfare (2025) review! Warfare is a 2025 war action film written and directed by Ray Mendoza and Alex Garland. Based on Mendoza's experiences during the Iraq War as a U.S. Navy SEAL, the film is a re-enactment of an encounter he and his platoon experienced on November 19, 2006 in the wake of the Battle of Ramadi.[4] To maintain historical accuracy, the film's material is exclusively taken from the testimonies of the platoon members, and is presented in real time beginning from the title drop. It stars an ensemble cast that includes D'Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai as Mendoza alongside Will Poulter, Cosmo Jarvis, Kit Connor, Finn Bennett, Joseph Quinn and Charles Melton. The film is dedicated to platoon member Elliott Miller, played by Jarvis, who lost his leg and voice in the incident. Warfare premiered at the Music Box Theatre in Chicago on March 16, 2025, was released in the United States by A24 on April 11, 2025, and pending release in the United Kingdom on April 18, 2025. The film received highly positive reviews from critics. Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network. Mark Radulich and his wacky podcast on all the things:https://linktr.ee/markkind76 alsohttps://www.teepublic.com/user/radulich-in-broadcasting-networkFB Messenger: Mark RadulichLCSW Tiktok: @markradulichtwitter: @MarkRadulichInstagram: markkind76RIBN Album Playlist: https://suno.com/playlist/91d704c9-d1ea-45a0-9ffe-5069497bad59

Feature: ‘Warfare' directors Alex Garland & Ray Mendoza discuss realist filming approach to their new feature

In their second project together, writer-directors Alex Garland and Ray Mendoza’s Warfare strikes a much different tone than last year’s Civil War. Garland’s solo writing and directing project, with Mendoza on as a military supervisor, served as a thematic look at the political divide found in the United States— Warfare, despite using similar thematic elements, takes a much more realist filming approach to the war in Iraq. Warfare follows a platoon of Navy SEALs in 2006 Iraq, going through the process of scouting insurgent territory, and eventually finding themselves in a gunfight with people they often identify as MAMs (military-age males). Told using the memories of those involved in this real event, the film isn’t focused on making a political statement on the war itself as much as it is putting together a chain of events that helps viewers understand one story a part of the greater picture of the war in Iraq. The film takes these stories and uses an ensemble cast of up-and-coming actors to help put together a linear story, with D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai notably portraying Mendoza, who was one of the Navy SEAL team members involved. Joining us, to discuss their directorial partnership and the work that went into telling this story as truthfully as possible, are Warfare writer-directors Ray Mendoza and Alex Garland.

(19:47} • I've always wanted to do this one for Elliott and for me. It's therapeutic anyway. It takes courage to tell that story. (26:10) • If you do do it, what is it gonna say? You gotta be really sure why you're doing it. (26:30) • It's hard, when you talk to somebody, to tell their story. (27:14) • Having those hard conversations with people. It's kind of difficult. And to put in on film is another level of difficulty. (27:26) • The big thing we were doing was overwatches. Clearance operations, pushing through a sector. Establishing a foothold. (31:31) • Often, we never made it to the next cycle. They would start surrounding us, then we were like “We're out.” Then we'd have to shoot our way out. (32:00) • Everybody got fragged. When you hear a piece of metal land on concrete, it's a very distinct sound. (40:55) • There's nothing I wouldn't do with the guys. Shoulder to shoulder, I'll Walk through the fire • with you guys. When you're by yourself, it's a little scary. (79:45) • Well, if we don't make it, at least we'll all die together. (80:35) • I'd rather die with my bro's, than die alone.
