60 years later, we welcome Colin Blunstone - Lead singer of The Zombies   How is it possible that an English band that was part of the British Invasion of the early '60s is still being played and referenced in 2025? The band was The Zombies. The two leaders were songwriter and singer Rod Argent and lead singer Colin Blunstone. They had three world hits. A fourth hit the charts after they had broken up. Many years later, they were inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame in Cleveland.   I always loved the sound of the Zombies—a singular mix of rock, blues and very cool jazz. In a sea of sameness, Colin's vocals were unmistakable. Great harmonies lifted each song and the arrangements were unlike anyone else in "The Invasion". Now, along comes Hung Up on a Dream,  a documentary capturing their careers and lives. Directed by Robert Schwartzman. Both will be joining us in the second hour.

For those who grew up during the British Rock Invasion of the 1960s, you’re probably familiar with many of the names who made their way through the U.S. charts, one such being the psychedelic rock band The Zombies. It's curious that the two songs that reference California were both left off the final Wildflowers release; perhaps Tom being self-conscious about being too prescriptive and direct in that vein. Hung Up and Overdue has a very simple, very direct lyric which sits atop a wonderful arrangement and doesn't need to do too much of the heavy lifting. It's almost like Mike's more reserved guitar part. We do get a little shine and sparkle in a couple of places, but its part of the ensemble rather than taking a starring role.If you want to check out the song ahead of the episode, you can find it here : https://youtu.be/bSl9ykaiNvwDon't forget to follow me on social media, like, subscribe, and please, leave a rating if you like the show.Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thetompettyprojectBluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/tompettyproject.bsky.socialInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/thetompettyprojectYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@thetompettyprojectThreads: https://www.threads.net/@thetompettyprojectAll music, including the theme song, provided by my very best friend Randy Woods. This week, Jimmy Fee misses the mark on a PB British mullet by a mere five ounces, we get so tweaked about trophy tog that we throw our soiled waders in the trash, decide rigs we've been tying for 20 years are suddenly inadequate, and drink crab whiskey as we mourn a chance to fish for stripers we know aren't even there.

In the podcast "Hidden Killers With Tony Brueski," Laurie Gilbertson analyzes the trial of Robert Telles, who was found guilty of murdering journalist Jeff German. The conversation focuses on Telles's bizarre defense strategy, which involved promoting a conspiracy theory that numerous entities, including law enforcement and the public administrator's office, were willing to kill a journalist to frame him. This strategy highlighted Telles's inflated sense of self-importance and narcissism, which was evident in his facial expressions and courtroom behavior. Despite the clear lack of evidence supporting his conspiracy claims, the jury took two days to reach a guilty verdict, reflecting the complexity of juror deliberations. The discussion also touches on the unpredictable nature of jury decisions and the psychological nuances involved, such as potential empathy towards defendants who take the stand. Telles's courtroom antics, including wearing a costume that resembled a Halloween outfit, seemed to have played a role in his relatively light sentence. Gilbertson reflects on the challenges faced by prosecutors in presenting a clear narrative to juries, particularly when the defendant's behavior complicates the perception of guilt. The podcast ends with a discussion about Telles's future in prison, suggesting that his personality traits may lead to further complications or even allow him to exploit his legal background. - Robert Telles was found guilty of murdering journalist Jeff German. - Telles's defense strategy included an unfounded conspiracy theory, revealing his narcissistic traits. - The jury's deliberation took two days despite the apparent lack of evidence supporting Telles's claims. - Telles's courtroom behavior and conspiracy theories highlighted his distorted sense of reality. - The discussion explores the complexity of jury dynamics and the unpredictable nature of their decisions. - Telles's eccentric behavior, such as wearing a costume, may have influenced his lighter sentence. - The podcast considers how Telles's personality and legal background might affect his life in prison. #RobertTelles #JeffGerman #ConspiracyTheory #CourtroomDrama #JuryDeliberation #LegalStrategy #MurderTrial Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? On the first episode of The Sabrina Zohar Show, your host, Sabrina, explores the reasons we sometimes pursue people who don't want us and emphasizes the necessity of healing and self-empowerment. Rejection is painful, but it's crucial to understand that it's not a reflection of our worth. Sabrina explains how love that isn't reciprocated sparks neurochemical changes, causing excitement and a dopamine rush, while breakups lead to cortisol spikes and emotional lows. To counteract this, she suggests activities like walking, journaling, and spending time with friends. She delves into attachment styles, noting that secure individuals can handle breakups better, while avoidant and anxious types may struggle more. Sabrina encourages listeners to reframe their narratives, accept their feelings, and focus on self-worth rather than taking rejection personally. She highlights the importance of recognizing cognitive dissonance and fantasy bonds, urging listeners to reflect on their past relationships honestly. By doing so, we can break free from unhealthy patterns and create space for healthier, more fulfilling connections. Want to work with Sabrina? HERE! Stuck After the Podcast?
