2017 was a big year for malware, hacks, and data breaches. Voting machines proved to be easily hackable, Uber was caught paying off cybercriminals, and of course, Equifax experienced a breach that affected 140 million Americans. On the latest episode of Decoding Security, security analysts Jessica Ortega, Ramuel Gall, and producer/security analyst Topher Tebow count down the top ten cybersecurity issues of the past year.

A major security breach has hit Cloudflare, provider of security and vital internet infrastructure to millions of websites, including Uber, OKCupid and Fitbit.
In today's podcast, we learn that the BND may have been listening to the BBC, but not in a good way. Cylance reports on Snake Wine, a curiously familiar vintage sniffed in Japanese networks. Singapore's military sustains a phishing campaign without sustaining apparent damage. Google discloses more unpatched Microsoft vulnerabilities, these in IE and Edge browsers. Criminals claim to have exploited Cloudbleed, but the jury's still out. Joe Carrigan from the Johns Hopkins University's Information Security Institute helps us understand Cloudbleed. Steven Grossman from Bay Dynamics reviews New York State's newly enacted cyber regulations. And watch your language around those networked stuffed animals.
Joined Jim Polito today to talk about a cloud bleed by a service called Cloudflare, where they recently had a massive memory leak exposing data from different sites using the service. And at this point, the best suggestion would be changing passwords from all the websites that you have logins with. To keep you on the safer side, make sure to use password managers. Cloudflare's code has an unknown quantity of data that has been stolen. Now that's a problem, right? That's a real problem. This tiny bug in the code apparently just includes things like passwords, personal information, messages, cookies and more, to leak all over the Internet. This was exposed just last Friday, just a couple of days ago. In today's podcast, we hear how Cloudflare suffered from Cloudbleed. The bug's now swatted, but it will take a lot of people some time to clear up their passwords. Spora ransomware's customer service gives lousy service. TrumpLocker ransomware's just VenusLocker poaching some brand equity. Pen testers say they can break into most networks in under twelve hours. FBI asked again how it gained access to the San Bernardino jihadist's iPhone. Update on the Moscow treason trials. The University of Maryland Center for Health and Homeland Security's Ben Yelin describes some unintended consequences from a Trump executive order. Headed to Coachella? Hang onto your passwords.

On this week's Curmudgeon's Corner Sam and Ivan talk about the latest developments on Trump's immigration policies, but after that, they do something they haven't done in a while. Lightning rounds! And ones that include some non-political things too! They can't avoid SOME additional political talk, but they also discuss wireless headphones, the new discovery of 7 potentially Earth-like planets, Cloudbleed, and more!
