CrossFade turned 1 last month and we couldn’t be more pleased with how it’s been received! To celebrate, we welcomed the guest from our very first episode back to the show: MinnMax founder Ben Hanson (https://twitter.com/yozetty)! In a weird way, Ben’s pick (Girl Talk’s “Feed the Animals”) reminds us of CrossFade itself – unorthodox pairings that always dig up something new – but moreover, it’s an album he goes back to both for “dumb fun” and to marvel at the editorial decisions made to mash up well-loved classics and obscure references. There’s a Shakespearean tragedy at the heart of Prince Paul’s “A Prince Among Thieves,” but that doesn’t stop it from getting a little silly at times. Matt chose it because it felt like a midway point between Nas’s “Illmatic” and the Hamilton soundtrack – both episodes Ben was previously on! (That clever fella.) Even if you’ve never heard of the people on it, it’s worth a spin as an audio story with solid bars and nasty production throughout. We recently had a chance to catch up with superstar producer Darrell “Delite” Allamby for an interview on Instagram Live. During our conversation, we first touched on his work with John John of Silk. The pair are currently working on creating John John's debut solo album. Delite of course has plenty of history with Silk and worked with them throughout his career. We specifically touched on his work on the “Tonight” album as well as Silk's latest album “Quiet Storm”. We took it back to the origins to hear the story of Delite's first placement as a producer. He then filled us in on his production process and what goes into creating hit songs. The producer reflected back on working on some of his biggest hits including “My Body” for LSG, “What's It Gonna Be” for Janet Jackson & Busta Rhymes, and “Crazy” for K-Ci & JoJo. He also talked about working on Tamar Braxton's debut album, and working with Gerald LeVert, Bobby V., Link, and more. We wrapped up the interview by talking about some songs he's been working on lately. Watch what he had to say in the video above.

Delite here: I’m really bummed, I love this episode and didn’t realize until after it was published I made a mistake and for a lot of the episode August mic got turned off :( it does get better eventually but I hope you will give this episode a chance because Paulette has a lot of great things to share!    Paulette is a missionary in a small village in Brazil. She shares with us what life looks like for her as a missionary and the importance of remembering we all are called to be missionaries- weather in our hometown or in a small village in another country. She talks about how God has used her weaknesses to show himself strong and how she felt His presence in the hardest season of her life. We hope this episode will inspire you to ask the Lord what He has for you to do today- Like Paulette says “you don’t have to be good enough or smart enough or Christian enough... we will never be enough but HE is always enough.”

Iza študira fiziko na Imperial-u v Londonu, fokusira se kot sama pravi na fiziko osnovnih delcev in je v tem duhu tudi opravljala prakso na Inštitutu v CERNu v Švici. In to ni kar tako. V prvem delu se pogovarjava o njeni izbiri študija, kjer je po njenih besedah izbrala fiziko, ker jo je znala še najmanj (izmed drugih izbir), saj je študij prav za to, da se poglobiš v tebi še neznana področja. Pogumno. - Tudi o motivacijskem pismu in njeni izkušnji s prijavo. Razloži, kako se je sama lotila prijavnega postopka in kaj je najbolj pomembno. - O prihodu v London in zakaj nekega kulturnega šoka ni imela. - Ter o samem študijskem programu in za koga je ta primeren. - Stroški življenja v Londonu in primerjanje cen. Originally dubbed New Day Express, the group formed in Brooklyn, NY, in 1967, originally comprising lead vocalist Philip Thomas, guitarist William "Bubba" Anderson, bassist Arnold "Muki" Wilson, keyboardist Stan Johnson, and drummer Raymond "Sugar Ray" Rock. Crown Heights Affair's roster soon expanded to include saxophonist Darryl Gibbs, trumpeter James Baynard, and trombonist Julius Dilligard, Jr., and in 1973 they signed to RCA, releasing their self-titled debut LP the following year. While a hit in New York, the first single, "Super Rod," failed to earn attention across the rest of the country, and when the follow-ups "Leave the Kids Alone" and "Special Kind of Woman" met the same fate, the group was left without a label. At that point Johnson, Gibbs, Baynard, and Dilligard all resigned from Crown Heights Affair, with Howie Young joining on keyboards, Tyrone Demmons coming in on trumpet, and siblings Bertram and Raymond Reid playing saxophone and trombone, respectively. This lineup signed to De-Lite, home to kindred spirits Kool & the Gang, and in 1975 Crown Heights Affair issued its sophomore effort, Dreaming a Dream, with an extended disco mix of the title cut cracking the R&B Top Five and the pop Top 50; "Every Beat of My Heart" and "Foxy Lady" soon followed, further establishing the group's growing reputation among clubgoers. Percussionist Skip Boardley joined the lineup with 1976's Do It Your Way; although the first single, "Dancin'," was a rather shameless knockoff of Isaac Hayes' classic "Theme from 'Shaft'," sales were again respectable, even if the LP's second single, "Do It the French Way," failed to generate much attention. 1978's Dream World was buoyed by De-Lite's new international distribution deal with Polygram. Virtually overnight Crown Heights Affair emerged as major fan favorites in the U.K., with the singles "Galaxy of Love" and "I'm Gonna Love You Forever" both reaching the British pop charts. While the title cut to 1979's Dance Lady Dance was another British hit, the album flopped stateside, prompting Crown Heights Affair to recruit producer Bert DeCoteaux, known for hits with Sister Sledge; the resulting Sure Shot remains a minor masterpiece, highlighted by the disco classic "You Give Me Love," a Top Ten U.K. pop hit during the summer of 1980. But the general public's interest in disco soon took a nosedive, and Crown Heights Affair spent the next two years on hiatus. Minus keyboardist Young, the group resurfaced in 1982 with Think Positive, a failed attempt to update their sound to current tastes. After one final effort, 1983's Struck Gold, Crown Heights Affair split. Bert Reid went on to enjoy some success as a producer, helming Denroy Morgan's underground smash "I'd Do Anything for You" as well as sessions for Unlimited Touch ("I Hear Music in the Streets"), Raw Silk ("Do It to the Music"), and Barbara Tucker ("Stay Together"). As vintage Crown Heights Affair grooves found their way onto latter-day hip-hop and R&B records. Né au début des années 70 à Brooklyn, New York, Crown Heights Affair est un groupe de funk et R'n'B. Succès international Après avoir signé auprès de RCA Records pour leur premier album, Crown Heights Affair Change de label avec De-Lite records, le même label que le groupe Kool and The Gang. C'est ainsi que Crown Heights Records sort son deuxième album « Dreaming a dream ». L'album contient 9 titres dont une version disco du morceau « Dreaming a dream » et une autre version a cappela. Par ailleurs, le titre « Somebody tell me what to do », paru en 1982 est considéré comme étant le dernier grand hit du groupe. L'aventure auprès de Crown Heights Affair prenant fin, la majorité des membres du groupe se sont reconvertis en producteurs à savoir Raymond Reid et William Anderson qui intègrent l'équipe de Donnie Linton et ont notamment produit quelques titres d'Amii Stewart ou encore de France Joli. En 2004, Bert Reid, le saxophoniste de Crown Heights Affair décède des suites d'un cancer du poumon.

Wie versprochen gibt's bei DE-LITE wieder was auf die Hüfte: mit unseren leckern schwäbischen Käs-Spätzle, die Robbie gekonnt vom Brettle schabt - ohne Zuhilfenahme eines Spätzleschabers oder ähnlicher nutzloser Küchenutensilien. Sehen Sie selbst, wie einfach das geht - schwäbische Eiernudeln aus der Tüte kann man sich ab sofort sparen.

Münzi zaubert in dieser Folge exklusiv für DE-LITE sein nordafrikanisches Lamm Cous Cous. Die hohen Aussentemperaturen, bei denen der Film gedreht wurde, hatten ganz eindeutig Auswirkungen auf den Geisteszustand der 3 Protagonisten und damit das Niveau des Humors. Für verkrampfte Lachmuskeln sorgt dieses Mal auch Robbie der Bongoman.

Mal wieder etwas vegetarisches aus dem Hause DE-LITE: Gazpacho. Diese kalte Suppe stammt aus dem Süden Spaniens und ist geradezu perfekt für den Sommer geeignet, da sie kalt serviert wird und sehr frisch schmeckt. Und das beste daran, sie ist auch saumäßig gesund, denn sie besteht - ganz untypisch für DE-LITE - fast ausschließlich aus frischem Gemüse.

Nach 11 Folgen von DE-LITE fun cooking wurde es allerhöchste Zeit für einen Betriebsausflug. Ziel: London.
