On this episode of Transforming Trauma, host Emily Ruth is honored to welcome Harvard psychologist, author, and educator David Rosmarin, PhD., to explore the connection between spirituality and mental health, modern psychology's aversion to the topic, and the ancient Jewish wisdom behind the connections paradigm.  About David Rosmarin: Dr. David H. Rosmarin is the director of the Spirituality and Mental Health Program at McLean Hospital and an associate professor of psychology in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. He earned his PhD in clinical psychology from Bowling Green State University, completed a predoctoral internship, and then pursued a postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard Medical School and McLean Hospital. Im Winter können wintergrüne Mittelmeerkräuter, wie Thymian, Rosmarin, Lorbeer, Berg-Bohnenkraut und Salbei weiterhin geerntet werden. Verschiedene Kräuter werden zu einem Kräutersträusschen zusammengebunden und verleihen Schmorgerichten eine würzige Note. Für die winterliche Kräuterernte, nur die oberen, jungen Triebe abschneiden. Sie enthalten am meisten Geschmack. Es gilt: Mediterrane Kräuter erst im April / Mai setzen. Denn trotz allem wurde er diese Wuche zum zweiten Mal ins Weisse Haus gewählt und ist damit einer der mächtigsten Männer der Welt.Wie konnte es dazu kommen? Wie konnte eine solche offene Misogynie in der Politik plötzlich salonfähig werden? Welche Rolle spielte die Geschlechterdebatte im Wahlkampf? Und sorgen die wieder gelockerten Abtreibungsgesetze in einigen Bundeststaaten für einen kleinen Hoffnungsschimmer? Hochbeete für den Gemüseanbau benötigen einen sonnigen Standort. Oft sind sie dadurch der heissen Sommersonne und austrocknenden Winden ausgesetzt und die Erde im Hochbeet trocknet schnell aus. Einmal Lockern spart dreimal Giessen Beim Lockern werden die Kapillargänge in der Erde unterbrochen. In diesen hauchdünnen Gängen kommt das Bodenwasser durch die Kapillarwirkung nach oben und verdunstet. Nach dem Lockern wird jedes Mal die 2-3 cm dünne Mulchschicht erneuert (z.B. Schilf, Hanf. Rasenschnitt), dies schattiert den Boden und hält ihn länger feucht. Schattenspendende Gemüsepflanzen An der Süd- und der Westseite des Hochbeetes werden überhängende Pflanzen gesetzt, sie schattieren die Wände und die Erde erwärmt sich spürbar weniger. z.B. kleinfrüchtige Kürbisse, Gurken und Melonen, auch Süsskartoffeln, Ampeltomaten, Malabarspinat und Hänge-Erdbeeren. Auch mehrjährige Gewürzpflanzen eignen sich: hängender Rosmarin und Teppichthymian oder essbare Blüten, wie Kapuzinerkresse und Schwarzäugige Susanne.

Im Garten oder auf dem Balkon wachsen noch allerlei Gemüse, Salate und Kräuter. Die meisten werden jetzt im Winter geerntet, zum Beispiel Federkohl oder auch Schwarzwurzeln. Auch Kräuter wie Rosmarin und Thymian kann man mitten im Winter ernten. Die wichtigste Regel: Nur bei frostfreiem Wetter ernten! Sonst werden Gemüse und Salate matschig. Was und wie wird geerntet? * Der Rosenkohl schmeckt jetzt süss und aromatisch, da er bei Temperaturen unter 5 Grad Zucker einlagert, sozusagen als Frostschutzmittel. Von unten nach oben ernten. * Auch der Federkohl schmeckt jetzt süsser! Die obersten, jungen Blätter (Herzblätter) stehen lassen, so kann man fortlaufend ernten. * Wurzelgemüse wie Petersilienwurzel, Pastinaken, Topinambur, Knollenziest, Schwarzwurzeln, Haferwurzeln: Mit der Grabgabel 20 Zentimeter vor der Pflanze gerade einstechen, Griff gegen den Körper ziehen, so drückt es Erde und Gemüsewurzeln locker zur Erdoberfläche. Nach der Ernte Loch oder Graben zuschütten, so sind die Wurzeln der verbleibenden Gemüsepflanzen wieder vor Kälte geschützt. * Salate: Nüssler, Zuckerhut, Radicchio, Winterportulak mitsamt den untersten Blättern ernten. Diese nicht liegen lassen, denn darunter verkriechen sich im Frühling die Schnecken. * Kräuter: Beim Rosmarin, Thymian und Bergbohnenkraut die obersten fünf bis zehn Zentimeter fortlaufend ernten oder - namentlich beim Thymian - die langen, dem Boden aufliegenden Triebe abschneiden. Beim Salbei die Triebspitzen mit den jüngsten Blättern abschneiden * Würzige Beigaben zu Salat wie Blattsenf und Barbarakraut: Blätter büschelweise drei bis fünf Zentimeter ab Boden abschneiden, das ergibt zwei bis drei Ernten.
