I am your host, Rebecca Budd, and I am looking forward to sharing this moment with you. The 400th anniversary of the first folio of Macbeth is set to take place in 2023. Published in 1623, the first folio is considered one of the most important works of William Shakespeare. It is a collection of 36 of his plays, including Macbeth, and is an important part of the literary canon. The anniversary of this folio will be celebrated around the world, with events taking place to commemorate the work of William Shakespeare and the impact the folio has had on literature and culture.   TDAgiantslayer@gmail.com    Brought to you by wellbuiltbody.com    97X     PODBEAN   Apple Podcast    Discouragement    Prisoner Gary Stephen escaped from castle Huntly prison near Dundee Scotland back in 2006. He hadn't seen his 35 year old girlfriend Tracy Miller in more than 6 months… when he gets to her house he finds out she is 4 months pregnant… he was so despondent he called the police, turned himself in and wanted to go back to prison…. and the police showed up and took him back to jail. Talk disappointment… you risk your life, you risk more prison time, you escape at great peril… you are going to prove your love to your girlfriend….  Now that would be discouraging…    how you deal with discouragement will dictate a lot of how well you live your life and the quality of your life.      “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand” (Isaiah 41:10).     So how does God strengthen you? So lets state the obvious  Read your bible - yes a definite no brainer, but I like to read it and where it says Jesus did this… I substitute my name- understanding that God called me to do above and beyond what he did.  Pray - again, a no brainer… but don't wait till things are bad… pray always. So when things get bad you don't feel guilty praying…. ok Seek counsel from pastors and friends… This also is a great idea and you have to have some time where you have invested into friends so that you have them to gain counsel from.  But here are my go to ways to defeat discouragement.. I have talked about my awesome jar in the past an idea I got from Tim Ferris and his book Tools of Titans book. If you are not familiar with it, you basically collect stories from your life where God showed up and did amazing things. I just write out these little stories on small note paper and fold it up and I have a big glass jar that I put them in. I have stories of checks showing up in my mailbox for thousands. Healings, God speaking through me to others, leading people to Christ. Praying over people who are healed from cancer. Watching God take my joblessness and giving me a fantastic job I never thought I would land… lots of stories. But it basically reminds me that I have had many down times, many discouraging times and God waded through my mess and drowned me in hope and joy.  So thats my first go to… my second go to is I have a few people that I can call and talk to any time who will give me joy, hope and fire breathing prayers. Typically just one phone call with one of those guys and I am ready to walk on hot coals, jump off a skyscraper and fly, I am ready to bet the house that Jesus is going to show up and meet me right where I need it most.  Plus these are the people who tell me their stories of discouragement and how God met them. You know misery loves company… especially the company that has been there, done that and had God show up.

Welcome to episode 74 of the Football United vs Soccer City podcast. Firstly I would like to sincerely thank all of the interviewees, listeners and the football community of the Illawarra, Australia and elsewhere around the World who download this podcast. Additionally I would like to say thank you to the tremendous people who contribute, comment and reminisce on the social media pages.Allan Piggot is our interviewee in episode 74. Born in Dundee Scotland in 1953 Allan developed a deep passion for football early in his life. Allan started playing football in the streets of Dundee and at Ann Street Primary School in the 1950s. In these early years Allan would go and watch Dundee at Dens Park when they played midweek and even went by himself to watch Dundee against Rangers in the 1963-64 Scottish Cup Final at Hampden Park with 120,000 other supporters. In his teenage years Allan played in school, youth club and representative football teams. After he left school he joined Kirriemuir Thistle FC and was training with East Fife FC. And it was at this point in his life he saw a newspaper article about Safeway United's manager and Dundee local Jim Harris that changed his life. In the article Jim Harris said if any footballers were interested in coming to Australia then they should contact Jim. Allan contacted Jim and in the space of 10 days his Australian adventure had begun.I appreciated the opportunity to record and listen to Allan's football experiences. I have sincere appreciation, respect and thanks for the time Allan spent in driving down from Singleton to Corrimal to record this interview. Please enjoy episode 74!

We discussed some key aspects of his research in the science and technology for the development of artificial organs, transitioning from a PhD holder to an academic, also the current structures in and status of higher education internationally (in the U.K, Greece and China) and research, as well as the Great and Silent resignations. An Evolving Man Podcast (AEM) #36: Dr Suzanne Zeedyk: Developmental Psychologist: Attachment Theory, ACEs, Trauma, Boarding School Syndrome Today I am delighted to be speaking Dr Suzanne Zeedyk. In this episode of An Evolving Man Podcast we explore attachment theory, ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences), Trauma and boarding school.Suzanne explores what trauma and attachment theory is. And then she goes in to exploring how this relates in the world of boarding school and boarding school syndrome.A really fascinating discussion from one of the world's leading developmental psychologists who has shared a stage with Gabor Mate among other people. We cover lots of areas from Early Years Framework, the effect of Covid and lockdowns on children and how boarding school effects our leaders developmentally.---Dr. Suzanne Zeedyk is a research scientist fascinated by babies' innate capacity to connect.  Since 1993, she has been based at the University of Dundee (Scotland), within the School of Psychology.  Her academic career began in the USA, where she completed her PhD at Yale University. Suzanne's core aspiration continues to be strengthening awareness of the decisions we take about caring for our children — because those choices are integrally connected to our vision for the kind of society we wish to build. Questions for Suzanne:Tell us about your background and how you became interested in this topic. Tell us about the rise of the Trauma Movement (which some people call the ACEs Movement)– here in the UK & beyond. Give us a sense of how trauma works. Why does it leave such impact? ***You think Boarding School Trauma has been left out of the Trauma Movement? And you think there needs to be a change in that? Tell us more. Why do you think that separation/exclusion exists? What are the consequences of legitimising suffering of Boarding School Children? What questions does my stance leave us with? Is healing from boarding school trauma possible? How do people learn more about the work that you do?#childdevelopment #boardingschools #attachment theoryFor more information about Suzanne please visit: https://suzannezeedyk.com/Or: https://connectedbaby.netFor her Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/drsuzannezeedyk/To follow her on Twitter: https://twitter.com/suzannezeedykSuzanne's book: Tigers and Teddies: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sabre-Tooth-Tigers-Teddy-Bears-ebook/dp/B0874TNWFY/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=suzanne+zeedyk&qid=1652369012&sprefix=suzanne+zee%2Caps%2C117&sr=8-2---Trailer for Resilience https://youtu.be/49YZ2rn5R2MAlex Renton's book: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Blood-Legacy-Reckoning-Familys-Slavery/dp/1786898896/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=alex+renton&qid=1652369388&sprefix=alex+re%2Caps%2C121&sr=8-3

Branching out into the gardens with Paul we continue our conversation from part 1 https://eattmag.com/join-us-in-part-one-of-our-tour-of-the-royal-botanic-garden-sydney/  Where we began our tour standing on the original footprint of the 1816 Botanic gardens a small section of what was known as the Governor's domain to start this botanic garden.  From there in part 2 https://eattmag.com/part-two-of-the-sydney-royal-botanic-gardens-podcast/ We hear how recently, archaeologists discovered a grinding stone from a place called Cuddie Springs, and that grinding stone had starch grains from kangaroo grass that was 32,000 years old. How Vines introduced into the Colony of New South Wales. Now in the Sydney Royal Botanic Gardens Podcast Part 3 we learn of how Vines introduced into the Colony of New South Wales by James Busby Esq. After a most delicious European tour in 1832 sent back on the Lady Harewood in 1832, an extensive collection of over 500 vine cuttings selected from the different vineyards of France.   The experimental garden  Charles Fraser and another early botanist, Alan Cunningham brought back seed and even seedlings of these trees and planted them in the experimental garden among others between 1824 and 1828. Looking to see how these trees would perform and how they could be used as timber trees.    Cedar  Red Cedar grew well and become one of the most valuable commodities coming out of the Australian colonies.  So well in fact Red Cedar can be found in many old town halls or in old buildings, both here but also in places like Manchester and London, and also in places in India.   Into the Palm house   Charles Moore whom was born in 1820, in Dundee Scotland.  Had arrived in Sydney on 14 January 1848 and took up the position of Director of the Royal Botanic Garden, Sydney, a position he held until 5 May 1896. Where he had decided to start planting the palms out in the old experimental gardening 1862, and where we still have some of those original plantings.    Fern mania, had also started at a similar time among the Victorians as a kind of obsession like that of the great fondness for palms as well.  Find out more about Ferns at the Plant species in the woodland page on the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney website  https://www.rbgsyd.nsw.gov.au/Science/Our-work-discoveries/Natural-Areas-Management/Ecology-of-Cumberland-Plain-Woodland/Plant-species-in-the-woodland/Vascular-plants/Ferns   And discover the work that goes into maintaining the Gardens and learn from horticulture staff, taking direction from the team. Bio: 1983 Born in Dundee Scotland. I dreamed of being a cross between James Bond and Gordon Gekko. 10 years old I stumbled into my first entrepreneurial adventure. I spotted some old vintage star wars figures in a model shop next to my school, they were the same as ones I had at home. I talked with the owner and he said he would pay me 50pence (80 cents) per figure. I went home and ripped the attic apart to find as many as I could, I sold him like 20 figures for £10 ($15) a decent sum for me at the time. I instantly bought a black widow catapult (was confiscated less than a week later !!) from the same store and gambled the rest on slot machines. I later discovered through some research that the figures I sold for 50p each were worth in the region of £5-£10 each, that was the first time I was on the wrong end of information asymmetry (in English, the guy knew what they were worth and I didn’t!) But it taught me a valuable lesson and started me on the path to Star Wars and Toy Dealer extraordinaire! I would spend the next few years searching for these figures from people who did not know what they were worth, and then sell them through local papers/collectors fairs and to antique/collectors shops. I did this for years, and regularly made the odd £1000 ($1500) great pay for my years as a 12-15 year old. Again, I spent this money on clothes, eating out and gambling! (slot machines and now horse racing and football and boxing bets I would get adults to place for me!). 1999 was my first major score in the international vintage toy game . I noticed an advert in the local paper that said “38 star wars figure for sale, £10 each” Now some of them are only worth about that, but some of the rarer ones can go for £90-£100 ($150), so I thought if some of them are there, then I’m laughing! I phoned the guy up and I asked what condition they were in, my jaw nearly hit the floor when he said they were all unopened, he had bought them in the 70's and 80's and just put them in his attic. Straight away the minimum price now jumps to around £30 ($50) He wanted £10 each, so £380….This was £380 I didn’t have, I was never a saver I did however have an asset, my PC! I sold it on the Saturday for £430 and now had enough for the toys that I was sure I was going to treble my money on at least (plus expenses to get to the guy to buy them!) The toys were in a little coastal town in Scotland (UK) about 4hrs train journey from my house, so I paid for my little brother and his friend to come along for the ride! We arrived at our destination and what did I do? I headed straight for the fruit machines! (degenerate gambler gene pops up again!) I lost until I had £350 exactly left (lucky I bought return train tickets!) So I gave myself a kick and headed for the guys house to buy the toys (what we were there for in the first place!!) I knocked on the door and he opened it, Albert Soden was his name (I will always remember Albert!) He was a World War 2 veteran, with medals on the wall and several missing fingers! (GENUINELY) He showed me the stuff and it was all amazing and in pristine mint condition, I was looking at several of them thinking “They are worth £500 each ($800) shit that one is worth over a grand!!! I explained to Albert that I had to get the train down etc and I only had £350, and he was delighted to sell them to me for that price. Some other dealers/collectors at the time said on various forums that they would have told the seller how much they were worth…..I’m sorry, but I just don’t buy that! Who is going to say “You want £10? no, no no, that is worth £500, I will give you £300!!” He paid pennies for them in the 70's and 80's and was delighted with his return on investment! He was so old school and gave me a handwritten receipt for my purchase, I have it framed now and keep it as a reminder of my first major deal. So for the £350, ($500) I sold the entire 38 figures for in excess of £15,000 ($25k) I sold most of them on eBay and some to major collectors in the U.S, Japan and Ireland. Left High School and went to University to study Economics (I figured that was the closest thing related to my fields of interest!) While at university I continued to wheel and deal in he vintage toy and antique market and it provided a great income for a student!!, I never had to take a job and it allowed me to indulge in eating out at restaurants and travel. It was also at this time in my life that I really started to dabble in trading stocks/shares, commodities and foreign currencies. I would do this through spread betting and also buying the shares. I graduated from university in 2005 (I got a first by the way ). This was a great time in my life, I started importing goods from Hong Kong and mainland China and selling them online and to companies in Scotland and the UK. I started off buying the items through a contact I’d met online, but then I decided to cut out the middle man and fly direct to Hong Kong and buy it all myself! I’ve been to Hong Kong 7 times and although every trip apart from one was for business, not one felt like a business trip! I was young free and single and making tons of cash, so I did what young free and single guys do… 5 star hotels, tons of women, tons of alcohol and tons of ego! Sadly my import business collapsed due to a combination of factors, namely price drops in the commodities I was selling and also more and more people starting to compete in the same market………Oh yeah, my excessive spending did not help either!! I found poker in 2008 and I love it, I have a true passion and it seems to have a bit of everything I love. It’s a strategy game, there is a lot of skill in it, but also that element of luck/chance that you have to accept and negotiate! I feel poker satisfies the degenerate gambling beast part of me, and to an extent, almost tames the beast! I aim to become as good a poker player as I can be, and hopefully by interviewing many of the games greats, it will help both me and you in the quest to become a great player.
