Bloodsong: Glub PART 1 - A song created in the style of the Misfits Cough/Cool Era Band | Frumess

BLOODSONG RETURNS AGAIN WITH GLUB! What is Glub? It is a song in the style of the Misfits Cough/Cool era band. Tune in and groove on! Check out Bloodsong HERE - https://bloodsongofficial.bandcamp.com/ https://imisanthropeofficial.bandcamp.com "Cough/Cool" is the first single released by the horror punk band the Misfits. It was released in August 1977 on singer Glenn Danzig's label Blank Records. 500 copies were produced on black 7" vinyl. Both songs from the single were re-recorded and re-released in various versions over the following twenty years. The Misfits had formed in February 1977 in Lodi, New Jersey, with a lineup including Danzig (who also played electric piano), bassist Jerry Only, and drummer Manny Martínez. the band was without a guitar player for six months. Danzig therefore used his electric piano to fill out the rhythm on the two songs "Cough/Cool" and "She", which were recorded in June 1977 at the Rainbow Studio and mastered at Spectrum Sound in Brooklyn, New York, by Rich Flores. By the time of the single's release in August 1977 the band had added First guitarist Franché Coma and Danzig phased out the piano in favor of singing exclusively. Caiafa's surname was misspelled on the single's sleeve as "Caifa",[1] leading him to insist that from then on he be credited as "Jerry, only Jerry". "Jerry Only" soon became his pseudonym, which he has continued to use throughout the rest of his career. The subject of the song "She" is not mentioned in the lyrics, but Misfits associate Eerie Von noted in The Misfits box set in 1996 that the song was about Patty Hearst. The lyrics reference Hearst's participation in a San Francisco bank robbery in 1974: "She walked out with empty arms, machine gun in her hand/She is good and she is bad, no one understands/She walked in in silence, never spoke a word/She's got a rich daddy, she's her daddy's girl". "Cough/Cool" and "She" were re-recorded and re-released in several versions in subsequent years. "She" was re-recorded in January 1978, with guitar in place of the electric piano, for the Static Age album. The album was not released in its intended form for 20 years, though many of its songs saw release in various versions over the years. "She" had been one of three songs from the sessions that were never mixed, however, and so this version was not released until 1997, when Static Age was finally issued in its entirety. A third version of "She" was released in 1985 on the compilation album Legacy of Brutality, with overdubbed guitar and bass tracks by Danzig. This version was reissued on Misfits the following year. A new version of "Cough/Cool" appeared on Collection II in 1995; this version was recorded in 1987 by Danzig and former Misfits photographer Eerie Von . Danzig used the drum track from the original recording, but Danzig overdubbed guitar and drum machine tracks and new vocals. The original mixes of both "Cough/Cool" and "She", from the original single, were included in The Misfits box set (1996) along with the alternative versions from Legacy of Brutality and Collection II. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/frumess/support

Today's guest is truly multi-talented. Welcome modern renaissance man Eerie Von to the podcast. Eerie talks about his varied creative talents. Whether it's drums, bass, singing, photography, painting, or whatever he sets his mind to, Eerie is a force to be reckoned with. He's also one of the most down-to-earth people I've ever had on the show. He's an open book about his time in Samhain and Danzig. He talks about how those bands formed and why he ended up leaving Danzig after the fourth album. He talks about Rick Rubin and the influence he had on Danzig's image as well as their sound. But we go all the way back to the beginning, when he was photographing The Misfits and playing in Rosemary's Babies. His images with The Misfits have become iconic. They even became part of his book, Misery Obscura. Eerie also talks openly about the music he's made after leaving Danzig. There's an album that's a horror soundtrack without the movie. There's his more punk influenced album. Then there's his country album. He also talks about the album that bridged the gap there that was unfortunately lost when his hard drive crashed! His latest album, Not 4 Nuthin' is out. But don't try to stream it. It's only available from Eerie and only as a CD. So reach out to him at eerievon777@gmail.com to get your copy. RockerMike and Rob discuss Samhain was an American rock band formed by singer Glenn Danzig in 1983, immediately following his departure from Misfits. Samhain played in more of a deathrock and heavy metal-infused style of horror punk than Misfits. Glenn Danzig originally planned Samhain as a side project with Eerie Von. After the Misfits' contentious 1983 dissolution, Samhain became Danzig's full-time band. Samhain is the least-celebrated of Danzig's major musical outlets and catalogs a transitional period in his musical career, bridging the gap between the punk rock of the Misfits and the dark, heavy metal and blues-influenced sound of Danzig. Both Samhain and its successor, Danzig, use the same horned skull image originally drawn by artist Michael Golden for the cover of the 1984 comic book The Saga of Crystar No. 8, published by Marvel Comics. The font often used in the name logo of Samhain, and later Danzig, is taken from the film The Giant Gila Monster. Danzig took the name of the band from the ancient Gaelic New Year: Samhain, the origin of the modern Halloween. The band's name is typically pronounced "sam-hane", though when the word occurs in song lyrics, Danzig himself pronounces it "sah-win", in conformity with the generally accepted pronunciation of the holiday. Samhain's lyrics were much darker than those of the Misfits, with themes rooted in paganism and the occult and eventually the horrors of reality, as opposed to the sometimes cartoonish ghouls and ghosts of the Misfits. Samhain's musical style was a dark, gritty, and experimental combination of punk, gothic rock, and on the last album, heavy metal. Samhain released two full-length albums and one EP during their three-year career as an active band. Danzig has said that he wrote two songs ("Death Comes Ripping" and "Bloodfeast") with the intention of using them on the first Samhain album, but instead recorded them with the Misfits for the Earth A.D./Wolfs Blood album in order to round out that band's final series of recordings and release a full album. https://www.discogs.com/artist/179494-Samhain https://riffipedia.fandom.com/wiki/Samhain https://www.last.fm/music/Samhain https://www.amazon.com/Box-Set-Samhain/dp/B00004TM11 https://www.allmusic.com/artist/samhain-mn0000832888/biography https://m.facebook.com/profile.php?id=103752646329765 https://www.misfitscentral.com/samhain/timeline.php Please follow us on Youtube,Facebook,Instagram,Twitter,Patreon and at www.gettinglumpedup.com https://linktr.ee/RobRossi Get your T-shirt at https://www.prowrestlingtees.com/gettinglumpedup And https://www.bonfire.com/store/getting-lumped-up/ https://app.hashtag.expert/?fpr=roberto-rossi80 https://dc2bfnt-peyeewd4slt50d2x1b.hop.clickbank.net https://8bcded2xph1jdsb8mqp8th3y0n.hop.clickbank.net/?cbpage=nb Subscribe to the channel and hit the like button --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/rob-rossi/support https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/getting-lumped-up-with-rob-rossi/id1448899708 https://open.spotify.com/show/00ZWLZaYqQlJji1QSoEz7a https://www.patreon.com/Gettinglumpedup #musician #musically #musicstudio #musicians #musiclover #musicislife #musicartist #musicvideo #musicproducer #musicfestival #musiclife #musicproduction #musicindustry #music --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/rob-rossi/support

John Christ's dark, bluesy riffs and squealing solos were one of the most integral components of Danzig's first four albums. As part of the original lineup, which also featured bassist Eerie Von and Chuck Biscuits, Christ (whose real name is John Knoll) contributed to classic songs including Twist Of Cain, She Rides and Mother, all of which were featured on their Rick Rubin produced 1988 self-titled debut.   Danzig's self-titled 1988 debut album turned 30 on August 31, and on this week's episode, I interview Christ about the creative process behind its recording, how he joined the band, as well as his current projects, which includes teaching college music courses at Peabody Prep and offering private guitar lessons. He also discussed the possibility of playing with Glenn Danzig again, and much more. His lively responses in our exclusive interview offers a vivid portrait of his musical career, making this a must-listen for any diehard Danzig fan and admirers of this truly underrated guitarist. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/slis/support

Huntsman Hill: A Music Retrospective

After Glenn Danzig essentially created the Horror Punk genre as the leader, voice and songwriter for the Misfits and combining punk and goth with Samhain and before he was getting knocked out in YouTube videos, immortalized in internet memes carrying Tidy Cat boxes across strip mall parking lots or being parodied in the hilarious Henry & Glenn Forever comic book he was putting out a great debut record from his third classic band simply called “Danzig.”  It sounded fresh and unique at the time but does it hold up?  Find out what Mike, Rod and regular guest Glenn P. think.     Recommended Listening    Run DMC Tougher Than Leather  https://open.spotify.com/album/5opAMGIf8Hn7xIaTPdHFDv   Less Than Zero Soundtrack:    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Less_Than_Zero_(soundtrack)  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Less_Than_Zero_(soundtrack) https://www.discogs.com/Various-Less-Than-Zero-Original-Motion-Picture-Soundtrack/master/37324   Jonesy’s Jukebox: Glenn Danzig in-Studio http://www.jonesysjukebox.com/archive   Ryan Adams Mother Live  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKoydvIuJ7g   Tiddy Cat http://www.metalinjection.net/latest-news/danzig-doesnt-talk-kitty-litter   Book “Misery Obscura:  The Photography of Eerie Von” https://www.bazillionpoints.com/shop/preorder-misery-obscura-the-photography-of-eerie-von-1981-2009-by-eerie-von-ships-late-nov-2016/
