Andrew Furey has been the premier of Newfoundland and Labrador for an extraordinarily eventful five years, from the pandemic and its fallout to going all in on oil and gas, and lately, of course, the chaos of Trump and a trade war. The popular leader shocked everyone recently when he announced he's leaving politics. Host Amanda Lang talks to Furey about why he's stepping down, his fears about the U.S. president's motives and the need for a Canada-first strategy.
This week on EJB Talks, Dean Stuart Shapiro speaks with Bloustein School alumna and Bloustein Advisory Board member, Leah Furey Bruder, MCRP '06 about her journey into urban planning and her experiences working in municipal and redevelopment planning. Leah explains how her background in international studies shifted to local planning after working on community development in Camden, NJ. She discusses her work in Cherry Hill, her time as an in-house municipal planner in Evesham Township, and her decision to start her own firm to focus on impactful projects. She highlights two key projects: the redevelopment of aging shopping centers into vibrant mixed-use spaces, and the successful opposition to a large-scale development that threatened New Jersey's agricultural land. She emphasizes the complexity of planning, balancing economic, environmental, and housing needs, and the importance of working with community stakeholders. She concludes by advising students to gain diverse experience, acknowledge their knowledge gaps, and navigate the complexities of competing interests in planning.
On today's show we speak with political watchers about Newfoundland and Labrador Premier Andrew Furey's surprise resignation. Guests react to the news and talk about what kind of leadership should come next.

On today's podcast I chatted with Michelle Furey, who comes from that famous Irish musical family. Michelle' s career wasn't a musical one, but one in the beauty industry which resulted in her establishing her own beauty clinic. Her life took a huge turn in 2018 when just like many others, she went to Turkey for what should have been a routine Tummy Tuck procedure. This procedure turned out to be a botched horror show of monumental proportions which has resulted in Michelle needing 21 subsequent procedures to restore her health, which has still not been fully restored, Michelle, determined to make sure that no one suffers like her has started her own cosmetic surgery company Asetica to provide safe, affordable procedures for these who need them Our conversation provides a fascinating insight into this poorly regulated industry, about who needs these procedures and what would make them take the same dangerous journey as Michelle took. Dr. Furey has been in clinical practice for over 25 years and has treated adults and children in hospital and outpatient settings, juvenile detention, and residential treatment centers for children. Welcome back to Analyze Scripts, where a psychiatrist and a therapist analyze what Hollywood gets right and wrong about mental health. Today, we are excited to cover Not Dead Yet season 1 which premiered on ABC but can also be streamed on Hulu. The best part of this episode is that we are joined by @differentspectrumspodcast Dr. Naz and Spencer! In this episode we analyze the depiction of Autism Spectrum Disorder and focus on Edward played by Rick Glassman, an actor with autism. Autism has notoriously had some pretty poor characterizations in the media so we are thrilled to see autism depicted this way additionally with a person who has lived experience. Edward is an environmental lawyer who lives with Nell, played by Gina Rodriguez, who guess what, sees the ghosts of obituaries she is writing. Welcome back to Analyze Scripts, where a psychiatrist and a therapist analyze what Hollywood gets right and wrong about mental health. Today, we are re-releasing our episode about the adorable 2015 Disney/Pixar animated film "Inside Out." We love all of these characters and were so impressed at how well this movie depicted the development of psychological ambivalence in a pre-teen. In this episode, we comment on the humorous portrayal of various cognitive processes including memory, dejavu, and dreaming. We also touch on neuroplasticity and resiliency as it relates to trauma experienced in childhood. That leads us to reflect on what it's been like to work with patients of all ages through the COVID-19 pandemic, and our plea to Disney to release a sequel - SPOILER ALERT, THEY DID! And our episode about "Inside Out 2" drops next week! We hope you enjoy!Disclaimer: This podcast and its content are for entertainment and educational purposes only. Welcome back to Analyze Scripts, where a psychiatrist and a therapist analyze what Hollywood gets right and wrong about mental health. Today, we are covering the new Netfix hit, Baby Reindeer. This show was especially interesting since it was based on a true story which writer and actor Richard Gadd depicts in this minis series. Donny, played by Richard Gadd is a wannabe comedian working at a local bar when Martha, played by Jessica Gunning, finds herself as one of his patrons. The series takes a dark turn when Martha begins to stalk Donny and harass his current and past love interests. We analyze Martha and discuss why people stalk as well as co-occurring pathology. In episode four we learn about Donny's traumatic past and discuss the impact sexual assault can have on future relationships and sexuality. This episode covers some upsetting themes so please take care. **TRIGGER WARNING: This episode discusses potentially triggering topics that may include, but may not be limited to, abuse, harassment, substance use, disordered eating, self-harm, and/or suicide.PRIOR EPISODES REFERENCED IN THIS EPISODE: Episode 77 & 78 Quiet on Set RESOURCES REFERENCED IN EPISODE:https://www.stalkingawareness.org/https://victimconnect.org/learn/types-of-crime/stalking/SOCIALS:InstagramTikTokWebsiteDR.
