İsrail tam da genel seçim atmosferindeyken, 25 Mayıs 1992 günü, Gazze'deki Yahudi işgal kolonilerinden Kfar Darom'un hahamı Şimon Biran, bir bıçaklı saldırı sonucu öldürülmüştü. Bu hadiseyi, 13 Aralık günü Nissim Toledano adlı Fas kökenli İsrail askerinin Lidd yakınlarında Kassâm Tugayları tarafından kaçırılması takip etti. Hamas, 1989'da dönemin Savunma Bakanı Yitzhak Rabin'in emriyle hapse atılan kurucu lideri Şeyh Ahmed Yâsîn'in serbest bırakılmasını istiyordu. İsrail hükümeti Hamas'ın isteğine kulak tıkayıp ayak sürürken Toledano öldürülünce, Başbakan Rabin'in emriyle Gazze ve Batı Şeria'da Hamas'a yönelik kapsamlı operasyonlar başlatıldı. O tarihte henüz 30 yaşında olan İsmail Heniyye, Filistin'in kadîm şehirlerinden Askalân -meşhur hadis âlimi İbn Hacer'in memleketi- kökenli bir aileye mensuptu.

(00:00-30:23) – The Fan Midday Show opens on a Monday with Jimmy Cook and Brian Noe recapping the performance of Anthony Richardson in his first NFL action, debate if they saw enough for him to start week one, and if they would feel confident putting him out there week one for him to play all seventeen games. (30:23-43:57) – Yesterday Shane Steichen revealed that Jonathan Taylor will be back this week with the team after being away last week. Brian and Jimmy discuss the impact Taylor would have on Richardson's development and debate if they believe he will be suiting up for practice this week. (43:57-49:25) – Brian and Jimmy close out the first hour of the show by pondering why people discuss the ceiling being high for Anthony Richardson, but don't attribute the proper criticism after missing a couple throws on Saturday. (49:25-1:15:00) – Colts beat reporter Nate Atkins of the IndyStar joins Brian Noe and Jimmy Cook on the Fan Midday Show to access Anthony Richardson's performance on Saturday, explains what he wants to see from Richardson this week against the Chicago Bears in the joint practices, if he thinks Richardson will start week one against the Jacksonville Jaguars, and how the offense is being build towards Richardson compared to Gardner Minshew. (1:15:00-1:26:18) – Brian and Jimmy continue recapping the Colts/Bills preseason opener by spending a segment discussing how amazing it was to see Damar Hamlin back on the field in game action for the first time since collapsing in Cincinnati. Additionally, they marvel over the fact that he said he didn't hesitate to make tackles. (1:26:18-1:31:32) – The one o'clock hour concludes with Brian and Jimmy discussing the pace that the offense played with while Anthony Richardson was quarterbacking the Colts. They debate if it's something that they'll do during the season if AR is starting. (1:33:51-1:55:09) – Producer, Host, and Reporter Larra Overton for the Indianapolis Colts joins the Fan Midday Show with Brian Noe and Jimmy Cook to explain her favorite moment from the first preseason game in Buffalo, what her overall takeaways were from Anthony Richardson in his first start, and accessing how important it was for Shaq Leonard to get back on the field in game action two days ago. (1:55:09-2:10:18) – As Brian has noted throughout the show, he wasn't encouraged by the start Anthony Richardson had to suit up as QB1 for week one. He explains his reasoning and questions why fans are glossing over the inaccurate throws he had Saturday. Jimmy provides the other side of the argument as to why he wasn't overly critical of Richardson's start. (2:10:18-2:15:24) – Today's show ends with Biran asking Jimmy for his JCook Plays of the Day and Eddie for his MLB picks! Plus, Brian shares some audio of Cotton Eye Joe playing during a Canadian tennis match over the weekend.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Dr. Noa Biran of Hackensack University joins HealthTree Podcast for Multiple Myeloma to discuss a completely new approach targeting CD38, which is found on most myeloma cells. The drug called modafakusp alpha (formerly known as TAK-573) uses a new method of targeting CD38 by combining a monoclonal antibody with interferon. Early trial results are showing that this treatment option could also work for patients who relapsed after anti-CD38 monoclonal antibodies like daratumumab and isatuximab. Inteferon is a human hormone that has been previously used in myeloma care because it can both kill the myeloma cells directly and engage the immune system to fight the myeloma, but it had many intolerable side effects. In this new form combined with modafakusp alpha, the side effects are significantly reduced. This new drug is now in clinical trials being tested with common myeloma therapies like dexamethasone, daratumumab, proteasome inhibitors and immunomodulators. Learn about this new treatment option in this informative show. Having new treatment options, especially after patients have relapsed after the three most common drug classes (proteasome inhibitors, immunomodulators and anti-CD38 monoclonal antibodies) is a blessing for relapsed or refractory patients.

"I started with an analyst right as I was ending residency and starting the fellowship in Behavioral Neurology and Movement Disorders. It was right in this transition time, and over time it transitioned into a psychoanalysis, and I think it served a number of functions. There was something about the way of exploring what was going on, trying to get to the bottom of it, trying to understand it, trying to understand oneself with another person, that I think was closer to what I was trying to get to originally. There was also something about him, my analyst, that seem so…calm… but it's not quite calm, something related to satisfied that I thought I was missing. What I was doing was good, and we can all work hard and do a lot of things, and there are a lot of things you could do. But somehow the fit wasn't right - I was forcing a fit of some kind or trying to turn something into something that would be a better fit and working pretty hard at that. There was something about his way that made me feel like ‘maybe I could feel like that in my career.'" — RG "I went to therapy because I thought I needed help. It was with a psychoanalyst, and we met two sessions a week, so it wasn't psychoanalysis yet. The thing that I found most exciting with him was that it was a different kind of thinking. I remember sitting in a session and realized that he was thinking totally different from me, and it was so exciting, so overwhelming, a little frightening but something that I actually found an inclination to think like that. I remember that in one of the sessions I had the image of memory as bits on a line, and I understood that he didn't think like that. For him, memory fragments are a conglomerate of these bits together, like grapes together, it was not linear. I was really amazed and excited by this. During the years when I really started the analysis, I found out that this kind of thinking can really be influential and make a change in my life as a patient and in my life as a therapist." — IB Episode Description: Iftah and Rachel share their pre-medicine life stories and describe those factors that contributed to their pursuing medicine and neurology. They both trained in Behavioral Neurology in an effort to reach more deeply into the personal experiences of their patients. Informed by their own analytic treatments they concluded that they were seeking something deeper than neurology could offer them. Training in psychoanalysis allowed them to integrate their studies of the mind with their prior work with the brain - an integration that had its limitations as well as insights. We discuss the challenges of having differing perspectives on how to encounter clinical phenomena. We close with their sharing with us how they bring their analytic minds back to neurology in leading Balint-type groups for neurology residents - a lovely application of analysis off the couch. Our Guests: Iftah Biran, MD, a psychiatrist, and a neurologist with a subspecialty in Behavioral Neurology. He recently finished his training in psychoanalysis and joined the Israeli Psychoanalytic Association as a member. He works part-time in his private practice where he mainly practices analysis. In the last years, he's been working in the department of Neurology at Tel Aviv Medical Center, a tertiary hospital, as a liaison psychiatrist – neuropsychiatrist, and behavioral neurologist. There Dr. Biran mostly takes care of patients with conversion disorders. He's the co-editor of the journal Neuropsychoanalysis. Dr. Biran is now completing a bachelor's degree in philosophy and literature at the Open University of Israel. Rachel Gross, MD. Prior to becoming a psychoanalyst, Dr. Gross began her career as a neurologist. As a member of the neurology faculty at the University of Pennsylvania, she specialized in the care of patients with Parkinson's disease, dementia, and other neurodegenerative conditions. She also served as co-director of the Penn neurology residency training program. Dr. Gross has a private practice in Philadelphia where she provides psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, and medication management. She enjoys teaching, mentoring, and supervising trainees in psychoanalysis and psychodynamic psychotherapy. She also facilitates a group to support the emotional well-being and professional development of neurology residents at the University of Pennsylvania.

Eitan Biran deve tornare in Italia.
Welcome to Times Will Tell, the weekly podcast from The Times of Israel. This week, we speak with Federica Sasso, a freelance writer for the Times of Israel, who is covering the story of Israeli-born Eitan Biran, the six-year-old sole survivor of the May cable car crash in northern Italy. Biran is the subject of a fierce custody battle between his maternal and paternal sides of the family. His parents, baby brother and maternal great-grandparents were all killed in the accident. Eitan has been raised in Italy since he was a baby, where his Israeli-born parents were living while his father studied medicine near Milan. His paternal aunt, also a doctor, lives in the same town where Eitan and his family lived. Eitan's maternal grandfather whisked him back to Israel in September, and a court case is now unfolding in Israel to determine whether the grandfather violated the Hague Convention and is guilty of abduction. Sasso, an Italian living in Israel, unfolds the story, the ongoing court cases and the two cultures at battle in this tragic tale. Times Will Tell podcasts are available for download on iTunes, TuneIn, Pocket Casts, Stitcher, PlayerFM, or wherever you get your podcasts. The boy's parents and younger sibling were among 14 killed in May when a cable car slammed into a mountainside in northern Italy. He is now the focus of a custody battle between his maternal grandparents in Israel and his paternal relatives in Italy. (AP Photo/Tsafrir Abayov) See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Kamu i Uriel grają swoją grę, a los Arki pozostaje w rękach graczy. Czy zostaną aby walczyć do końca? Velocity Weapon (Orbit, 2019) by Megan E. O’Keefe centers on siblings: Biran, a member of an elite cadre that controls the interstellar gates by which humans travel among star systems, and his sister, Sanda, a gunner who finds herself waking 230 years after her last battle on an empty, enemy spaceship, believing she’s the last human alive. O’Keefe’s characters search for truth in a universe where the secrets are centuries old and where A.I.s depend on humans as much as humans depend on A.I.s. Among the many themes O’Keefe’s space opera explores are the limits of human perception. In Sanda’s case, her reality is controlled by a spaceship. “They are elements of horror when you can’t trust the environment you live in, when the only thing keeping you alive might be dishonest,” O’Keefe says. O’Keefe challenges Tolstoy’s claim that “all happy families are alike” by giving Biran and Sanda an upbringing in their two-dad home that is as happy as it is unique. “I enjoy taking the opportunity to explore a family that is actually united—they have their squabbles, of course—but they love each other and are trying to do the right thing in an impossible situation.” Velocity Weapon, which was shortlisted for the Philip K. Dick Award, is the first book in O’Keefe’s Protectorate trilogy. The second book, Chaos Vector, is scheduled for publication in July. Rob Wolf is the host of New Books in Science Fiction and the author of The Alternate Universe and The Escape. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Today we did quite a riff on the principle/dvine idea/power of power or dominion, and the three major ways it is used in consciousness. We then had a lively discussion about the virtual kitchen table based on Infinite Potential by Lothar Schafer (pp.176-177). The conversation revolved around morality and Marie-Francois-Pierre Maine de Biran's concept as shared by Lothar Schafer, “the meaning of important principles is revealed to us in ‘the fact of existence as it manifests itself in our inner sense.'” This was followed by a lively discussion around Carl Jung's conscept of psychic energy. Today's Absolute Word was "Imagination." You can find the entire text at paulhasselbeck.com. It was my post for March 12, 2017. Remember, bit.ly/metaromp is a great resource for you based on Metaphysical Romp II.

Mark Sinclair (Manchester Metropolitan) gives a talk for the Power Structualism in Ancient Ontologies series In Getting Causes from Powers, Steven Mumford and Rani Lil Anjum have argued that all dispositions are to be thought as tendencies or inclinations; that such tendencies or inclinations have a sui generis modality, irreducible to traditional ideas of necessity or possibility; and that we have direct experience of such inclinations in our subjective experience of agency. In this paper, I critically assess these arguments in the light of 19th-century French philosophy. I turn to the work of Pierre Maine de Biran and Félix Ravaisson in order to develop the claim that a particular and irreducible modality of dispositions is indeed available to us in subjective experience – but in the particular phenomena of habit rather than within agency in general. Ravaisson’s 1838 De l’habitude provides a phenomenology of habit as inclination and a metaphysics that makes the phenomenological fact of inclination intelligible; and both this phenomenology and this metaphysics, I contend, have much to teach contemporary work in the metaphysics of powers.

After humble beginnings in the world of sports, Brian was introduced to summiting mountains, vast wilderness, and travel when he went to work at a summer camp in Colorado that changed his life forever. After that experience, as well as encouragement from his brother, he was eager to see more of the world. That’s when he took a solo trip to Central America just to experience the culture and scenery. He was hooked!Brian quickly began traveling all over the world, racking up visits to dozens of countries in a relatively short amount of time.
