Talk to a HG Coach 1-on-1: https://bit.ly/46bIkdoDr. K's NEW Guide to Love, Sex, & Relationships is here! Order now: https://bit.ly/4dO3x0VDr. K's Guide to Mental Health: https://bit.ly/44z3SztHG Memberships : https://bit.ly/3TNoMVf Products & Services : https://bit.ly/44kz7x0 HealthyGamer.GG: https://bit.ly/3ZOopgQIn this episode, Dr. K unpacks the psychology and data behind transitioning from friends to lovers, explaining why the traditional "friend zone" is actually the most successful starting point for a romantic relationship. Moving away from the high-stakes, dramatic gestures often seen in movies, he breaks down the science of social environments, the developmental stages of attraction, and why a grand confession of love is almost guaranteed to sabotage your chances. What to expect in this episode: The Friends-to-Lovers Blueprint: Why the dreaded "friend zone" is actually the most common path to romance, with data showing that 70% of couples start out as friends. You'll also learn why you must play the long game, as the average successful transition takes 21.9 months. The Open vs. Closed Field Dynamics: How dating apps act as "open fields" where physical attractiveness is virtually the only deciding factor. In contrast, "closed fields" (like work projects or friend groups) naturally highlight deeper, highly attractive traits like humor, reliability, and shared values. Small Talk is a Red-Flag Filter: Why the primary goal of small talk isn't actually to get to know someone, but rather a crucial "safety assessment" designed to weed out catastrophic red flags before you invest your energy. Why Grand Confessions Backfire: How blurting out a dramatic, high-stakes declaration of love maximizes psychological uncertainty, panics your friend, and forces them to pull away from the friendship entirely to regain safety. The Six Destabilizing Triggers: The specific events that shake up a stable friendship and can trigger romantic feelings, ranging from supportive bonding during a personal crisis to the sudden threat of competing relationships. The One-Sided Exclusivity Trap: Why closing yourself off to other dating options while waiting around for a friend actually decreases your chances of being with them, and how third-party interest often serves as the catalyst they need to realize their feelings. The Art of Reducing Uncertainty: A practical guide to navigating the transition by systematically managing behavioral, mutuality, definitional, and future uncertainty. Dr. K explains how to make small, explicit moves that protect the friendship, giving your partner the safety to explore dating without fearing they will lose you forever. Unpacking a viral clip about reassurance and a fascinating study on neurodivergence, he breaks down why modern society is experiencing a spike in trauma, how our brains are wired to prioritize bad experiences, and why we need to change how we screen for trauma in neurodivergent individuals. What to expect in this episode: Reassuring the Reassurance-Seeker: Why asking for reassurance about needing reassurance is a common loop, and why providing it is actually the easiest job in the world if you embrace a supportive, loving mindset. The Power of Stable Relationships: How borderline personality disorder (BPD) remission rates show that consistent, long-term reassurance actually works, with 50% of individuals recovering within two years of a stable relationship and up to 98% in remission after 16 years. The Candy Bar Metaphor & Dr. K's Real-Time Epiphany: A look at an adopted child's food insecurity and why the typical parental response—confiscating hidden food—accidentally reinforces the trauma of scarcity rather than resolving it. What Social Support Actually Means: Why social support isn't just having people physically around you, but is specifically the ability to safely re-engage with your trauma triggers without your survival instincts taking over. Why We Hold Grudges (The 3-to-10x Brain Bias): How the human brain is neurologically wired to weigh a single negative experience three to ten times more heavily than a positive one, meaning it takes massive amounts of positive validation to undo a single betrayal. The Erosion of Social Safety Nets: How remote work, blocking culture, and rage-bait algorithms on social media are actively preventing us from having the "corrective emotional experiences" required to heal from trauma. The Autism Trauma Gap: Why up to 47% of women and 70% of men on the spectrum suffer from PTSD caused by "non-traditional" traumas—like bullying, public vomiting, loss of a pet, or even psychological therapy itself—that neurotypical individuals easily bounce back from. A New Clinical Burden of Proof: Why Dr. K now operates under the assumption that late-diagnosed ADHD patients have a mood disorder, and autistic adults have trauma, until clinically proven otherwise. Analyzing this tragedy from his perspective as an MGH-trained psychiatrist, he separates social media sensationalism from medical reality. Dr. K dives deep into the neurobiology of the postpartum period, the terrifying reality of clinical psychosis, and how a fragmented healthcare system failed everyone involved. What to expect in this episode: The Postpartum Reality & Motherhood Pressures: How hormonal and physiological shifts, like changes in progesterone, estrogen, and oxytocin, can completely alter a woman's emotional baseline and blunt her normal fear centers. Dr. K explains the immense pressure on new mothers to feel instant love and perfection, which can lead to severe isolation when they instead feel overwhelmed or disconnected. The "Edge of the Cliff": Why hundreds of thousands of women are rallying behind Lindsay Clancy. Dr. K notes that many mothers recognize how close they themselves came to the "edge of the cliff" during their own postpartum periods, and how a complete lack of support and deep shame can make suicide feel like a logical escape. The Science of Postpartum Psychosis: How postpartum psychosis is far more common than society thinks—affecting 1 to 3 out of every 1,000 live births, translating to roughly 20 women every single day in the US. Dr. K breaks down how first-episode bipolar disorder often remains hidden until uncovered by postpartum changes. What Psychosis Actually Feels Like (The "EASE" Scale): An eye-opening explanation of clinical psychosis utilizing the Examination of Anomalous Self-Experience (EASE) scale. Dr. K describes severe delusions like Capgras Syndrome (believing loved ones are imposters) and the Cotard Delusion (the belief that you or your organs are already dead) to show how profoundly a psychotic brain distorts reality. A Fragmented Medical System: How the American healthcare system failed to protect Lindsay, featuring a cocktail of 12 prescribed psychiatric drugs and a psychiatrist who only had 17 minutes to evaluate her due to insurance constraints. Dr. K examines how having 6 to 7 independent providers who never talk to each other creates a recipe for tragedy. Echo Chambers & Algorithmic Realities: How social media platforms and algorithms divide us by feeding us entirely different "data points," causing people to live in separate realities and jump to extreme, ungrounded conclusions with absolute certainty. How to Handle a "Cooked" World: Dr. K's psychological steps to combatting hopelessness. He explains why hope is tied to autonomy, not outcomes, and how admitting your own ignorance is the first crucial step toward introducing the cognitive flexibility needed to change your life. In this episode, Dr. K unpacks the unique challenges of high intelligence, explaining why gifted individuals are exceptionally prone to chronic anxiety, overwhelm, and severe burnout. Moving beyond the popular myth of intelligence as a pure superpower, he breaks down the neurobiology of an undisciplined mind, why smart people develop fragile coping habits, and how to stop using calculations as a shield against taking action. What to expect in this episode: The Burden of a High IQ: Why having superior cognitive ability directly multiplies your daily anxiety, as your brain's capacity to run complex calculations forces you to build highly robust predictive models of everything that could go wrong. The 100-Problem Trap: Why gifted individuals easily freeze up; while an average brain might predict a single solvable problem, a high-IQ mind predicts 100 future problems but remains physically limited by time and space to only solving 10 of them. The Compression Delusion: How smart people waste their mental energy trying to "whittle down," reshape, and calculate their way out of problems to make them perfectly solvable, rather than simply taking a single step forward. The Curse of Early Success: Why gifted kids fail to build discipline because their fast minds allowed them to bypass studying entirely, leaving them saddled with fragile habits that collapse under real-world challenges. The 800-Pound Tiger: Why a highly intelligent, undisciplined mind is like trying to control a wild tiger on a leash, and why IQ tests completely fail to measure your actual ability to regulate your thoughts and set rational goals. Why Geniuses Earn Less: A look at the surprising economic data showing that while income generally increases with IQ, it actually craters at the very highest levels of intelligence. The EQ Buffer: How individuals can leverage high emotional intelligence (EQ) to buffer cognitive gaps, utilizing deep empathy and emotional regulation to build strong social relationships and excel at work. In this episode, Dr. K unpacks the massive and often contradictory mental health conversation surrounding GLP-1 agonists like Ozempic. Moving past the physical weight loss, he breaks down the complex psychiatric side effects—from the "Ozempic personality" to why the medication's impact on depression depends entirely on your starting weight. What to expect in this episode: The Dopamine "Speed Limit": How GLP-1 agonists act like a speed governor on your brain's engine, capping extreme dopamine spikes without affecting your day-to-day baseline levels. This specific mechanism blocks the intense reward spikes (similar to loot boxes or the lottery) that trigger neural rewiring and severe addictions. The "Ozempic Personality" & Anhedonia: Why capping those dopamine spikes can cause a side effect known as anhedonia—the inability to feel pleasure. Dr. K explains how this blunting effect can slowly shrink a person's daily sphere of motivation and activity. Frequency vs. Quantity: Why studies show Ozempic doesn't reduce the number of days you choose to drink, but significantly drops the amount of alcohol you consume. By capping the dopamine response, it blunts the progressive craving that typically makes you want a second or third glass. The Weight Discrepancy: Why obese individuals taking the drug see no net increase in depression, while healthy-weight users face a significantly higher risk of mood crashes. Dr. K explains how the massive hormonal and social benefits of resolving severe obesity balance out the chemical blunting occurring in the brain's emotional regulation centers. Hijacking the Starvation Signal: Why GLP-1 agonists are incredibly dangerous for restrictive eating disorders like anorexia. Normally, a starving body sends strong, protective craving signals that fight against conscious restriction; GLP-1s silence these signals, enabling the anorexic mind to restrict calories down to dangerous extremes. The 5% Trigger: How losing just 5% of body weight can turn on rigid thinking and trigger atypical anorexia in individuals with healthy BMIs who are vulnerable to social media body-image pressures. The Addiction Spectrum: Why GLP-1s successfully curb substances like alcohol, nicotine, and behavioral issues like impulsive shopping, but may paradoxically worsen pornography use. It's Tuesday, August 11th, A.D. 2026. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Kevin Swanson and Timothy Reed Canada euthanized Christian grandmother against her will The nation of Canada continues down the dark path of euthanasia. This time, comes this shocking story, where the state euthanized Brigitte Stegemann, an 83-year-old Christian grandmother, against her will and the will of her family. On the Euthanasia Prevention Coalition blog, her granddaughter said, “One of our greatest ethical concerns is that GG had explicitly declined [Medical Assistance in Dying], stating it violated her Christian faith. Once a vulnerable patient explicitly declines this path, the facility should never have targeted her for re-evaluation behind closed doors while her primary advocate was away.” More than 5% of all deaths in Canada are attributed to Medical Assistance in Dying. It is the fifth leading cause of death there. Psalm 94:4 and 6 cries out: “How long shall they utter and speak hard things and all the workers of iniquity boast themselves? … They slay the widow and the stranger, and murder the fatherless.” Severe drought in Europe and blazing hot July in America God has brought a severe drought on Europe. Since 1836, the month of July was the driest for England and Wales in recorded history, reports Reuters. Similarly, the United States experienced the hottest July since 1895. Also, March 2026 was the hottest March ever — 9.4° above the 20th-century average. Ukraine drone attack killed 13 Russians, injured 75 Ukraine's drone attack on Russia's oil hub killed 13 citizens and wounded another 75 over the weekend, reports PBS. Russia says they shut down 450 drones. In addition, Russia killed 21 people in Kyiv in this ongoing drone-based tit-for-tat warfare. The changing military alliances overseas Internationally, nations are lining up in allied positions. Just last week, Pakistan, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia signed a pact, in which all three nations agreed that an attack on any of the three nations would be taken as an attack on all. Pakistan's relationship with China has also warmed up considerably. China supplies Pakistan's military weaponry and Pakistan strongly supports Beijing on Taiwan, Xinjiang, Tibet, Hong Kong, and the South China Sea. If we include China's growing relationship with Russia, this axis of powers now holds 6,100 nuclear warheads in total, almost exactly the same number held by the allied powers of the United States, the United Kingdom, France, India, and Israel. Keep in mind: God is over all the armies of the Earth. Isaiah 13:4–5 states that “The LORD of hosts musters the army for battle. They come from a far country, from the end of Heaven, the LORD and His weapons of indignation, to destroy the whole land.” Columbia hit by major earthquake Another devastating earthquake hit Colombia yesterday morning, killing 111 people, reports the Associated Press. It was 7.4 on the Richter scale. This follows another 7.5 earthquake in Venezuela a few weeks ago, that killed 5,000 people. Colombia produces 80% of the world's cocaine. However, Friday marked the first day in office for Colombia's new president — Abelardo de la Espriella. He is an admirer of President Donald Trump and had promised an "all-out war" on the drug cartels. South America has swung to the right over the last few years. Now eight countries are led by presidents who would align more with President Donald Trump. Only three South American nations are led by presidents that bend towards the left including Brazil, Bolivia and Venezuela. Two-thirds of Americans support the death penalty Pew Research has found that Americans favor the use of the death penalty for murder convictions, in line with Genesis 9:6. A full two-thirds of Americans say they favor the death penalty, and only 32% oppose it. The numbers have remained about the same for the last seven years. Yet, in the first half of 2026, capital juries chose not to execute the murderer at least 19 times, more often than to execute. Murders in America average 15,000 per year, yet on average, only 23 murderers are put to death. That's one-tenth of one percent! And this year, only 19 murderers have received the death penalty. Genesis 9:6 says, “Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed, for God made man in His own image.” Network for Hope shut down for its immoral organ donor system The Department of Health and Human Services has decertified Network for Hope, an organ transplant organization that was exposed for unsafe and immoral practices. Heidi Klessig of Life Site News explained, “Removing Network for Hope's certification was absolutely necessary, but will not address the most pressing problem underlying our current organ donation system: organ donors must be biologically alive in order to donate viable organs.” Attorney General Todd Blanche eager to end mail-order abortions And finally, newly appointed Attorney General Todd Blanche has pledged to work towards solidifying pro-life gains across the country, as well as to end mail-order abortions. Not surprisingly, all Democrats voted against Blanche's nomination. According to Americans United for Life, “Through his statements and actions as Acting Attorney General, Mr. Blanche has shown himself to be a sincere advocate for human life and a faithful servant of President Trump's pro-life agenda.” And Blanche himself has stated, “If states have said, ‘We are going to protect the unborn and we're going to protect every life from the moment of conception,' we're putting practices and policies in place so that other states and other organizations can't attack that. They can't do things like they're doing with mailing in mail-order drugs.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Tuesday, August 11th, in the year of our Lord 2026. Print story United States exits United Nations Livestock group The United States government is pulling out of the United Nations' Global Plan of Action for Sustainable Livestock Transformation, The New American reported. The decision, announced by the Officer for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Paul Welcher, comes because the declaration promotes climate change, so-called equality, and other radical policies. Per Politico, “The plan, which is completely voluntary, was finally adopted by delegates on Friday [July 17]. It advises countries to address issues such as biodiversity, animal welfare, emissions and how to prevent the spread of disease.”
In this episode, Dr. K tackles a fascinating and highly requested question: Do therapists actually know when their patient is the "villain" of their own story? He explores how toxic individuals and narcissists frequently weaponize therapy language, why some therapists miss personality disorders for years, and the clinical signs—like an external locus of control and a failure of mentalization—that reveal when a client is the real problem. What to expect in this episode: The "Therapy Villain" Paradox: Why the most toxic people in your life are often the ones raving about therapy, using therapist validation to cast everyone else in their life as a narcissist or a sociopath. The Trap of Misdiagnosis: Why therapists frequently spend years missing personality disorders—such as confusing Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) with bipolar disorder or severe anxiety—and Dr. K's honest admission about his own susceptibility to these blind spots. Identifying the "Victim" Pattern: What it means when a patient is consistently surrounded by people they claim are abusive, and how to tell if they are attracting toxic relationships or simply projecting their own narcissistic tendencies. The External Locus of Control: Understanding the diagnostic red flag of patients who believe their entire life is controlled by external forces (like society, bosses, or spouses), leaving them feeling powerless rather than empowered. Supportive vs. Action-Oriented Therapy: The clinical purpose of "supportive psychotherapy" (which focuses on unburdening and venting), and why true growth requires decompressing emotions so you can focus on personal responsibility and change. Weaponizing Therapy Speak: How predatory or narcissistic individuals hijack modern mental health concepts—like "I'm entitled to my feelings"—to justify inappropriate emotional reactions and continue traumatizing those around them. Projection and "Theory of Mind": How narcissists convert internal insecurity into external attacks (such as believing a friend lost weight specifically to make them look bad) because they project their own feelings onto everyone else. The Failure of Mentalization: A deep dive into the core deficit of Cluster B personality disorders, where an individual is entirely unable to separate their own internal discomfort ("I feel bad") from the actions of independent people ("someone did this to me"). The Narcissistic Blind Spot: Why narcissists assume that if they don't understand a complaint, it simply doesn't exist, whereas healthy individuals recognize they might just have a personal blind spot. An 83-year-old Ontario woman told her family that MAiD conflicted with her Christian faith. She declined. Two months later, according to her family, the discussions restarted while her power of attorney was out of the country, her capacity was assessed in a meeting her family calls a farce, and her application was completed and witnessed by the facility's own staff after the date had already been set. This is a reconstruction of the last ten days of Brigitte "GG" Stegemann, built from her family's written public statement, an 80-minute recorded interview with her granddaughter and power of attorney, and the provisions of Canada's Criminal Code governing medical assistance in dying. The family has formally requested the underlying records — the death certificate, both eligibility assessments, the signed request and the identity of its witness, the medication administration records, and any waiver of final consent. None had been produced at the time of publication. Requests for comment were made to the physician and to the nursing home; neither chose to respond. The practitioners are not named in this episode. They will be identified once records confirm their identities, and each will be given the opportunity to respond before that happens.Chapters:0:00 The date came before the paperwork1:15 Who GG was, and the twelve years before this3:40 She said no, and she said why4:30 Ten days away, and the meetings nobody mentioned6:10 The medication record that cannot explain Monday8:00 What happened in the room before the doctor arrived10:30 Tuesday: the capacity assessment13:30 How twelve years of power of attorney ended in minutes15:00 The application the manager says she filled out herself17:00 What Canadian law actually permits18:00 Wednesday: the question she asked her granddaughter19:40 Friday morning: the patio, the line, the silence22:20 Four questions, four pieces of paper25:00 What the family is doing nowLet's connect!Substack: https://substack.com/@kelsisherenRumble - https://rumble.com/user/TheKelsiSherenPerspectiveInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/thekelsisherenperspective?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet&igsh=ZDNlZDc0MzIxNw%3D%3DX: https://x.com/KelsisherenSUPPORT OUR PEOPLE - - - - - - - - - - - -Ketone IQ- 30% off with code KELSI - https://ketone.com/KELSIGood Livin - 20% off with code KELSI - https://www.itsgoodlivin.com/?ref=KELSIBrass & Unity - 20% off with code UNITY - http://www.brassandunity.com
In this episode, Dr. K tackles the popular self-help myth of "thought control" and positive thinking. Disagreeing with top athletes who claim they can fully master their minds, he explains the actual science of attention, emotional regulation, and cognitive conditioning. Drawing on the metaphor of a garden, he breaks down how to stop painful thought spirals, why arguing with your own brain fails, and how to transition away from the trap of black-and-white thinking. What to expect in this episode: The Myth of Thought Control: Why Dr. K strongly disagrees with high performers like Eileen Gu on "controlling" your thoughts, and why your brain actually generates thoughts automatically, much like a TV playing different channels. The Anatomy of a Thought Spiral: How a single negative event—like getting dumped—can trigger an automatic, exhausting chain reaction that drains your self-esteem and wastes hours of your life. The "Tip of the Nose" Hack: A simple, powerful, and immediate secret meditation technique that instantly shuts off background brain chatter and grounds you in the present moment. Logic vs. Emotion: Why your logical brain is actually controlled by your emotional circuits, and why trying to "argue" with yourself logically when you're angry, ashamed, or depressed never works. The Dopamine Deception: How scrolling through social media and watching funny videos merely suppresses your emotional circuits rather than actually regulating them, leaving you in a worse state once you put the phone down. Mental Gardening: Why your mind is like a wild, unmanicured garden, and why high performers succeed not because they are perfect, but because they commit to the daily grind of "weeding" unproductive thoughts. The 20-Week Rule: Why it takes about 20 weeks of consistent mental training to finally get your "mind garden" under control, and why giving up after a month is the biggest trap of self-improvement. Weeding Out Black-and-White Thinking: Understanding the direct link between extreme, binary thinking and severe mental illness, and why the most important step you can take today is shifting your mind toward the gray.
