First of all, what happened to February? We went straight from January to March and we surely didn't go a long time without posting a new episode. No, you're crazy!! The ButtonMashing Boys get back together again to talk about Microsoft's plan to bring CoD to Nintendo, why Baldur's Gate 3 won't be coming to Xbox any time soon, and rumors or what Konami has planned for E3. But what is really on everyone's mind? GOODBYE VOLCANO HIGH!!!!! Tears will be shed, laughs will be had, songs will be played, and awards will be awarded. Also, the big breakdown of Rock Steady's next game Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. The rest of the State of Play will be discussed I PROMISE! Anyway, the heat check is hotter than ever because the boys are fired up for new Destiny 2 content, and look out because a southern belle catches a stray ;-) Also if you've been wondering what we've been playing, weeeellllllllllll Intro & Outro Song: Brother Brother - Sega Sound Team (Yakuza 6)
Hello you absolute freaks!!!!! Welcome back to a brand new episode of ButtonMashing101. This week is crazy cool because we get to talk about games that are coming out in 2023 and say which ones we're excited about. So if you had lingering thoughts about our thoughts about the games we drafted last week, well this is definitely the episode for you. Along with that, we also discuss the DICE nominees and how we felt about some categories and we leave you wondering about other categories by not expressing our feelings at all, it's honestly an insanely cool experience. You know what would be sick though? if you are already listening to the podcast and reading this and while reading this you heard a really funny joke so you had to re-read this sentence only to realize that this sentence is kinda meaningless! That's the kind of fun we like to have here at Buttonmashing101, or buttmash for short!!! Anyway, enjoy our episode you absolute dingbats!!!!! Sincerely yours, Alex
2023 is officially here, so you know we HAVE to get together with Peter and Justin from Hitbox! It's 2023 and we are looking into the crystal ball to tell you what to expect* this year in Video Games. As always** we first get into the most recent news of the week. Bungie and Atlus are teasing new announcements and are being really vague about it. Sony had a presentation at CES talking about PSVR2, the Gran Turismo movie, and revealing Project Leonardo, Sony's first controller aimed at accessibility. Then we get right into with our annual predictions episode, featuring a few write ins from our adoring and dedicated fans. We reveal last year's winner*** and what video game he is assigning to the losers that they have to play to completion in 2023. Then we really get into the business of just straight up telling you what's going to happen over the next year flawlessly, 10 predictions from each of our hosts that are sure to happen. Open up your cold heart and just let us in. Then we get back to our usual segments**** the HEAT CHECK and what we've been playing. So just check it out, will ya? C'mon please! *fights back tears* I NEED THIS!!
As we wave goodbye to 2022 and welcome in the big beautiful 2023 we look back at our favorite games, but also at some that let us down. WELCOME TO THE 2022 BUTTONMASHING101 GOTY AWARDS!!!!! (**cue Dua Lipa**) Firstly, we share the results of our twitter poll of who had the best GG list for 2022 (the people were right) then we share some of our listeners favorite games of 2022 because we are a podcast of the people!! Then we fly up into the stars and share all of our Top 10 games of the last year. You will laugh, maybe cry, feel anger, possibly question why you listen to this show. That all leads us to the official 2022 BUTTONMASHING101 GOTY AWARDS!!! We give out so many coveted, prestigious, noble awards that Billy Crystal himself called to see if we would allow him to host but of course we gave him a resounding NO haha. Who was the best villain? Which game is the most overrated? Which of Dan's social media accounts reigns supreme above all the others? All of that leads to the most beloved and generous award in all media: the BUTTONMASHING101 GOTY AWARD!!!!! What will it be? There is literally so many ways to find out, but you should just listen to the whole podcast PLEASE because we put our whole bussies into it for you and only you, you magnificent, beautiful, heroic bitch! I love you Intro & Outro Song: Hikari - Utada Hikaru (Kingdom Hearts) Time Stamps: Twitter Poll and Friends' Top Games (10:39) Individual Top 10 Games (18:25) Awards Show (1:07:43) ButtonMashing101 Top 10 Games (1:48:54) --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/buttonmashing101/message
Yes, I know, we've been gone for a while, but life happens ya know? But, we're here when you need us the most; to recap The Game Awards 2022. Geoff gets gritty and grimy with groovy game trailers that tantalize trendy tech typhoons and also give away some awards. But first! Control is getting a sequel, Horizon is getting a multiplayer game, Spiderman 2 is coming out Fall 2023, and is Naughty Dog working on the Last of Us Part 3? Then we recap LITERALLY everything that happened at The Game Awards 2022 and it only takes us about an hour and twenty minutes to do that. Then things get steamy with this week's Heat Check, Alex shares his futuristic GG, and then as always, we tell you what we've been playing since we last recorded (the last 2.5 years roughly). Was Dan able to vote JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Fighting Game Extreme Extravaganza Extra Type R Final Edition (shortened as JJBAFGEEETRFE) to Fighting Game of the Year? Will Dave be sad that a "Real RPG" didn't win best RPG? Has Alex been playing OverWatch 2 way too much? There is only one was to find out.
This episode was most definitely recorded BEFORE Halloween October 31st! Otherwise it wouldn't really make sense for us to talk about Spooky Games as our main topic, ya know? That being said, we don't really follow anyone's rules, not even our own. So, who could really say what is even going on right now. We're just three guys talking games for fun, it's ButtonMashing101. Timestamps are so mainstream --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/buttonmashing101/message
The Button Boys are back and we recorded and short, sweet, 2 hours of of gaming* discussion for your audio pleasure. Firstly, Number 1 trophy whore Dave, talks about the 2 BIGGEST GAMING STORIES OF THE YEAR. If literally no one else is talking about then I guess they just don't have their finger on the pulse of the industry like we do! Because it's Spooktober, Silent Hill and Resident Evil had creepy little streams to scare silly spectators with slimy spirits spooking startled stars into speculation on scoops soundly sent to streamers. A new Final Fantasy XVI trailer dropped and so did our jaws, Bungie might be reviving their first release "Marathon", and Dan does a front flip from a standstill. Our main topic is all about the discourse surrounding Bayonetta 3 and the actress' who plays her. Should we boycott? Do voice actors get paid enough? Does lying make someone less sympathetic? Afterwards we get into all of the first class segments you have grown to love and appreciate: The Heat Check, Dave's tower climbing, deck building, rogue lite GG, and of course what we've been playing. Saddle up partner!
Yes, we have all watched the Super Mario Bros. trailer, the world will never be the same. Chris Pratt was clearly almost trying his very best in the VO booth so we should all try (not that) hard to be excited for his game changing performance. Obviously we all talk about the BIGGEST news of the week: Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden will launch early next year, will the trophy lists be the same? Then we really get deep into the gritty grime and gunk gabbing about the gruesome garbage launch of Overwatch 2 that straight up didn't work for a long time and requires a text security feature that some can't use. On a positive note, we discuss the announcement of Need for Speed Unbound and the very cool art style they went with. Will this be a racing game that actually gets the Button Boys interested? Then the STARS* really come out to shine as we talk about the new PlayStation Stars Rewards program. Can Alex and Dan identify games based on song titles circa 1994? Probably not. Finally we get to all of your favorite weekly segments. The HOT ASS Heat Check, Alex's moody and atmospheric GG, and the games we've been playing. What the hell is Dan up yo? Only one way to find out. Oh, and if you're looking for stamps, GO TO THE POST OFFICE!
Listen up! Dan got his Steam Deck, which means his ego has inflated to 10 times it's normal size. He is better than Dave, he is better than Alex, and he is better than you. JUMP FORCE. We also talk about the announcement of the brand new Monster Hunter style game Wild Hearts, the 5th delay of Skull & Bones, the overseas launch of PlayStation Stars, and Stadia being brought behind the old shed by Google. Then we really get into the deft details discussing delusional developers debating digital remasters, remakes, revengence, and readjusting of attitudes concerning games that are only 5 years old. Who is the audience for a Horizon Zero Dawn remaster? We are not sure, but we are ready to talk about it. Also, CD Projekt Red announces roughly 12 new games, and that is just crazy. Of course things get steamy in the Heat Check, Dan goes buck wild for his GG, and we discuss what we've been playing recently. What's the over/under on Signature Get Wreckedâ„¢ Moments?*
Fantasy Critic draft season might not be at the forefront of the news cycle right now, but it's a yearlong affair. Most of the attention is on the beginning of Fall 2022 right now, but there are folks (like us) who already have their eyes on the 2023 Draft Class. Next year's class is shaping up to be quite different from 2022. The league gave a resounding lukewarm reception to the games that have been delayed. The anticipation for next year's draft could see much more buzz at the league's most important pick; first overall. Mock drafts this time of year are rarely accurate. But it's a worthwhile exercise to see who is worth keeping an eye on in the gaming ranks as well as what a game could look like in a year. Will Tears of the Kingdom live up to the hype? Will Spider-Man 2 launch in 2023? Which teams will take the biggest risks and will they pay off? At this stage we still don't know who will be victorious in the ButtonMashing101 Fantasy Critic League, and we likely won't know until December, but we know who the leaders are. We know who the longshots are, and we also know who is in the middle hoping for a miracle. But a miracle isn't a plan, a plan isn't guaranteed to succeed, and success is often determined deep into the video game release calendar. So tune in to this week's episode to find out which games look the best on paper, which games are sure to impress, and which games have that dog in them. This is our preview of the 2023 Fantasy Critic League, and more than just our pride is on the line.
Rejoice! For we are here and we are talking about Video Games once again. It has been a very news heavy week in the Video Game industry leading up to Tokyo Game Show 2022, so naturally the guys talk about all the biggest headlines. Headline: Babylon's Fall has fallen. Headline: Splatoon 3 sales are massive in Japan. Headline: D23 Disney and Marvel games announcements happened. Headline: Dan takes his pants off. Headline: Ubi Forward could've been a 20 minute Assassin's Creed stream. Headline: EA had some announcements I think. Headline: PlayStation State of Play with some big games. HEADLINE: OUR MAIN TOPIC OF THE WEEK IS THE GIRTHY NINTENDO DIRECT DECLARED DECENT DUE TO DYNAMIC DIGITAL DEVELOPMENTS DISPLAYED DILIGENTLY DESPITE DORKS DOUBTING DEPENDABLE DATA. What does that mean? You'll have to listen to find out. Afterwards, things get really hot in the Heat Check, Alex shares his knightly GG, and as always, we talk about what we've been playing lately. By the way, if you're not on the lookout for the Signature Get Wrecked Momentâ„¢ it might just happen to you. Be safe out there.
Once again, the Mashers have gathered around the proverbial table to talk about Video Games. "What specifically are they talking about?" I'm sure you're wondering to yourself out loud in the middle of an intense business presentation, and I'll tell you right now; Glen Schofield deserves a slap due to his tone deaf tweet about crunch, Microsoft vs Sony in a slap fight, Halo slapping it's fans with it's road map, and will Cyberpunk 2077 finally slap after this DLC gets released? Then we get really into the weeds and confuse each other when we approach this week's Main Topic. What really is a AAA game? What does that mean? Can only certain genres of games be considered AAA? The big bad button boys get to the bottom of this bewitching botheration by bickering and besmirching both buddies bashing their basis beautifully. Is there even a right answer?* Then things get really hot with the Heat Check. Dan comes in blazing with his GG. Finally, as always, we talk about the games we've been playing. Get your popcorn ready!
Two weeks in a row with a new episode, we might as well be ButterMashing101. BECAUSE WE ARE ON A ROLL. I'll give you a moment to recover. . . . . . . . Feeling better? Ok, so listen up, there were some weird rumors about Amazon buying EA, so we talk about it. There were CLASSIC Ubisoft leaks about the next Assassin's Creed game, so we talk about it. There was news about a new Mafia game in development, so we talk about it. What else do we talk about? The main topic is Sony pushing up the price of PlayStations to profit and pilfer the pockets of probable purchasers while the price of paper($) plunges prominently to a primary pool of pointless pieces. Of course then we get to the hottest segment in the universe with an all-time Heat Check. Dan is absolutely is losing his mind and many people are terrified of the consequences. This week's GG is a life changer if you would only just give it a chance. Please just give it a chance. You don't need to play other games, just play this incredibly stellar series. Please. Then finally we talk about the games we've been playing in a therapeutic sharing session between three very close friends that needs to be heard to be believed. We love you.
Yes, after a lengthy hiatus we are finally back. We were fighting the good fight and now bring you the spoils of battle. Gravity Rush and Days gone are getting adaptations? You don't say. Kyler Murray plays worse during Call of Duty double XP weekends? Numbers don't lie. Star Citizen is still getting funded? Better believe it. Destiny 2 trailers are still sick AF? I detect no lie. Then we talk about our main topic, Geoff jetting to Germany for a jolly jolt to journalists as Gamescom gets going with gorgeous and ground-breaking games that groups of guys and girls will gush over like greedy goblins. We go over every trailer and announcement so you don't have to. Afterwards you'll find all of your favorite segments. The HOTTEST segment in the podcast universe the Heat Check, the GG so you can plan your next game to play, and finally we talk about the games we've been playing over the last couple of weeks. Oh, and keep an ear to the ground for an absolutely devastating Signature Get Wrecked Moment â„¢ that we, as a society, may never recover from. Timestamps and info follows:)
You won't believe this, but it is Alex and I am in charge of the description this week. Everything is fine though, don't you worry, our sweet angel prince, Dave, is just asleep. Look, I'm not the best at these descriptions, especially since Dave's are so good. Let us begin though, shall we? On this week's episode, we're discussing some lousy stuff, like Skate being announced as a Free-to-Play game, but also some fun stuff like PlayStation Stars. While that's not all the news, we do also discuss those latest Assassin's Creed leaks. Just remember to be on your toes for that pesky Signature Get Wrecked Momentâ„¢, too. All in all, it's a great episode with a lot of fun, including the Half Year Awards. Classic games like X-Cu--Com are also mentioned, and also there's the games we've been playing. Knowing that, do you really want to keep reading this description? Absolutely not! Read no more, because all that's left are timestamps. You see; nothing to see here, just time stamps --and other information:
Greetings Button Mashers! The boys are back to talk about video games once again. What's in store this episode? Ho boy! I'll tell you, that's actually the purpose of this description. You see, a description is a statement in picture or words that describes. Anyway, Nintendo had another Direct that dared to dish the dates of delicious digital delights like Bayonetta 3 and Persona 5 Royal. We go over some rumors about the Horizon TV show coming to Netflix, and the almost shared release dates of Skull and Bones and God of War Ragnarok. PlayStation went on a tweet spree sharing info for several upcoming Indies, GTA 6 rumors are aplenty, and Forspoken was delayed. After the news we sweat it out with the hottest segment on the interwebs; The Heat Check, and Dave shares with us a GG sure to please Roguelite fans all over the world. As always, we go over the games we've been playing in *excruciating* detail that borders on psychotic. Finally, in celebration of Episode 69 we discuss who are the absolute Hottest Daddies in video games. Nice would be selling it short.
Happy Anniversary! (To all the game franchises celebrating) Wow! There have been so many Anniversary streams, announcement streams, informative streams, crossing the streams, seams and beams the gleaming stream. Where do we even start? Duh! Details on the HOTLY anticipated Gran Turismo Movie!!!!! Can I get a Heat Check? Am I right? Breakfast. Todd Howard talks about the future of Bethesda Softworks, every game franchise had some kind of stream so we talk about that to varying degrees. From Software had some tasty little morsels of information for us to devour, and we got a big info dump on Final Fantasy XVI. Future GOTY contender Xenoblade Chronicles 3 also had a deep dive direct deemed dope by Dave and Dan. Then we get into all of your favorite segments; the hot ass Heat Check, Alex's controversial GG, and the games we've been playing. Eagle eared listeners can catch an absolute destruction in this weeks totally brutal Signature Get Wrecked Momentâ„¢ (this one isn't for the faint of heart, ya dig?). Finally our topic of the week is*
This week we are bringing on a very special guest, Peter from Hitbox! As the expert on all things Xbox we needed him badly to talk about the Xbox + Bethesda showcase breakdown. When we have a special guest on, we tell them "hey, you should do our work for us" so this week's GG is brought to you by Peter and he's not taking any prisoners. As always, we cover the news, do the Heat Check, and talk about the new PS Plus tiers yet again. Do you have what it takes? Did Xbox blow you away? Another question?
Geoff Keighley is here and he is coming for E3's crown as the King of Summer gaming news. Before we get into all of that, we briefly cover some HUGE news like Sony Bend revealing their new Logo. Then we get into the hottest segment on the internet with the Heat Check and Dan shares with us his GG. Of course we're going to tell you all about what we've been playing since last time in the greatest of detail. But, that's not why you're here is it? You're here to find out if Geoff Keighley, the Canadian Crusher, has snatched the crown from E3. Did he bring the heat? Did he fall short? What does the Rock drink when he works out? We have all the answers you seek inside.
Two episodes in two weeks? We are on fire! Or should I say Diablo????????? We are mashing them buttons once again about PlayStation dipping even more toes into the Movie and TV world. EA shared some info about Star Wars Jedi Survivor and Dead Space Remastered, while Abandoned may not be just a clever title ;-D CAN I GET A HEAT CHECK for Mario Strikers and The Quarry? Dave brings up a bittersweet GG that is a joy to play but might make you cry. As always, we talk about what we've been playing since last episode, but then we get into the meat of it. Sony had a big 3rd party State of Play, how good was it? Are you hyped for these games? How did it make us feel? What happened to Jimmy Hoffa? Will Final Fantasy XVI be the greatest game ever? Find out the answers to all* those questions and hear who Got Wreckedâ„¢ in this instant classic episode.
Welp, Starfield and Redfall have been delayed. So what?! Big deal! There are still plenty of games to look forward to in 2022, so turn that frown upside down. We also talk about what the hell is going on with the new PS Plus tiers and how bad Jim Ryan sucks. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor title got leaked, Alan wake is getting a TV show, Norman Reedus let slip that he is starting work on Death Stranding 2 and Alex shares his GG. As always, we talk about what games have been keeping us busy since last episode and finish with our main topic. Does any of that that sound interesting? Even just one thing? Is anyone reading this? Who am I? Does life even have any meaning?
Here we are again! The guys get together once again to discuss the latest in Video Games news, and it is scintillating. What is the deal with the PlayStation Plus game trials, are they a good thing or bad? Speaking of Sony, the FTC is looking into Sony's purchase of Bungie. We break down all of the finest details in the newly revealed Gotham Knights gameplay trailer (and talk about Dick Grayson's lack of cake). That is followed by all of your favorite segments; The Heat Check, Dan's GG, and the game's we've been playing. Lastly, we ask the question on everyone's mind, "What is going on at Square Enix?" They are selling most of their Western Studios and IP. They are focusing on AI, Cloud, and Blockchain? When will we see this Final Fantasy XVI trailer!?!!? Is Sony going to buy them? Find out by listening right tf now. Oh, and by the way, stick around till the end to hear our newest segment ;-)
Yes, we are back and there is SO MUCH to talk about. The guys get together to talk about all of the biggest gaming news from April. E3 is DEAD! Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is just around the corner, but Splatoon is not. Remedy is remaking Max Payne 1 and 2 in Unreal Engine 5. Kingdom Hearts 4 was, of course, announced in a trailer at 2am on a Sunday. Details for the revamped PlayStation Plus were revealed. Amy Hennig is working on a new Star Wars game (again) and Sega wants to turn Jet Set and Crazy Taxi into SUPER GAMES. *heavy breathing* Okay, after all that we still get into the Heat Check
We are back and we are ready to talk about all the video game related news you could possibly desire. CD Projekt Red has announced they are working on a new Witcher title, and more rumors and leaks about Project Spartacus. Alex then tells us all about a Good Gameâ„¢ and then we get into a fiery Heatcheckâ„¢. If you've been wondering what we've been playing, welllllllll (here it is, here it is, here it is) and we close on our main topic of what are our personal 10/10 games. Timestamps and info follow:

We talk about the possible God of War show, a couple new release dates, and the next game from Supermassive. In what may become a recurring segment, we talk about more shitty people in the Games Industry and how they suck. Speaking of shitty people, we also talk about J.K. Rowling and Hogwarts Legacy, but also that sweet sweet goodness that was the Japanese focused State of Play from March 9th. Everyone* agrees it was the best State of Play in a long long time. Here we are, in the densest gaming month in recent memory, and we've been playing all the biggest games (that you've probably been playing too) so we can talk about them. We go over the news, like always. We talk about this week's GG, as per usual. We flirt with each other, obviously. However, our big topic this week is simply what we've been playing, because HO BOY there is a lot to talk about. Horizon? Yes. Elden Ring? Check. Other stuff? maybe? Afterwards we get into our Heat Check for Destiny 2: The Witch Queen and Elden Ring, followed by Alex's GG. Finally, we talk about the games we've been playing which crescendos into our topic of the week: Horizon Forbidden West and our first impressions of it. Does it live up to the hype? Is it the prettiest game out right now? Will Dave spend countless hours in Photo mode? There's only one way to find out. Saddle up, partner, it's gonna be a long ride. Time stamps and info

The Game Awards have come and gone, the days have grown shorter, the nights are colder, so snuggle up with your favorite beverage and get cozy. Yet another jumbo sized episode from the boys because we love you. Consider this an early Holiday treat for you and your loved ones. Alex talks about the freshly announced Splinter Cell remake and what he wants out of it (spiritual and emotional fulfillment). We recap the the gaming predictions we made at the beginning of the year and why we don't have a winner yet (barn burner). Then we sink our teeth into the meat of this week's episode; The Game Awards 2021. All (most of) the announcements, all the awards, and all the sass you can handle. But that is not all! We love you so much that we decided to also share some general thoughts on watching Mother! and Hereditary back to back. Is it a good idea? Is it healthy mentally? Are we back again? You bet your sweet ass we are. This week we talk about the changes in DICE leadership and what that means for Battlefield going forward. Then we discuss more Activision BS and their direct involvement (or lack of) with The Game Awards 2021, and Geoff Keighley's response to it. Then we talk about the crime of the century; How and why isn't Tales of Arise (Game of the Millennium*) nominated in the Players' Voice category when a game with very low critic and user scores like Battlefield 2042 is. Is Tales of Arise the Rodney Dangerfield of games?** Will The Game Awards live up to the hype? Can Dan just cool it for once? Is anyone reading this? Time stamps below. I bet you weren't ready for this 1, 2 combo! We are back it again and bringing the (mild) heat. We pull Dan out of the depths of despair this episode after discussing the shutting down of the single greatest Fighting Game and the number 1 reason so many people throughout the world are soulless: Jump Force. Rest in Greatness. Then we talk about scumbag Bobby Kotick and how much of a scumbag he is. We touch briefly on how the February gamers calendar is actually clearing up a little bit, and how Alex is a no good, rotten, cheater. Finally we go over most of The Game Awards nominees, make some predictions on winners, callout some games that shouldn't be nominated and cry about how Tales of Arise deserved better. But, apparently no one played Tales of Arise, because of they did it would be the most nominated game. I'm not crAZy. As always, we end the show with the games we've been playing and discover another one of Dan's social media accounts.
