America seems to be on a locked path towards a Trump-Biden rematch in 2024. But is this what people want? The polls say no. And is this really our only option? No Labels, the organization looking at presenting a third-party candidate, agrees. Decried (mostly by Democrats, for now) as a spoiler, No Labels leadership believes that for the first time, a third party candidate has a shot at winning the election. And what is their path to victory? Winning unconventional states, making a common sense case to Americans, and broadening the election. All will be revealed, maybe, by Super Tuesday.Pat McCrory is the national co-chair of No Labels. He served as the 74th governor of North Carolina from 2013 – 2017, and the 53rd mayor of Charlotte before that. While serving as mayor of Charlotte, McCrory served on the U.S. Homeland Security Advisory Council from 2002 to 2006 under President George W. Bush. Former President Donald Trump aims to replicate his success in Iowa at the New Hampshire primary in a few days. After coming in third in the Hawkeye State, Nikki Haley has been campaigning hard in New Hampshire, looking to assert herself as a strong second to the former President. Despite polling in the single digits, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has decided to skip the state entirely and head to South Carolina to shore up his voter support. FOX News Sunday anchor Shannon Bream joins the Rundown to preview the upcoming contest and break down the latest from the Supreme Court. Polling shows the majority of Americans have little enthusiasm for a Biden-Trump rematch in 2024, and the No Labels Party believes this leaves a lane for them to challenge the status quo with a third-party run. As they search for candidates for a “Unity ticket” in 2024, they have faced severe difficulties getting on the ballot. They allege these roadblocks are part of a racketeering conspiracy and have called on the U.S. Justice Department to investigate. Former Governor of North Carolina and now national co-chair of the No Labels Party, Pat McCrory, joins the podcast to discuss their organization's plan to appeal to American moderates who want an alternative, the opposition they've faced getting on the ballot, and what kind of candidates they want for their “Unity ticket.” Don't miss the good news with Tonya J. The founder of Daily Kos, Markos Moulitsas, did not mince his words as he ridiculed the Former North Carolina Governor. Chuck Todd was uncharacteristically animated on This Week as he used Vivek Ramaswamy's book Nations of Victims against him as it proved him a complete fraud. Markos Moulitsas, the founder of DailyKos, challenged Pat McCrory, the former governor of North Carolina and proponent of the No Labels third-party movement, during a segment on Meet the Press. McCrory claimed that 65% of Americans are dissatisfied with the two major parties and are seeking a third-party alternative. He emphasized that the No Labels movement is gaining momentum. Moulitsas questioned the legitimacy of No Labels, asking what issues it stands for and pointing out that the group avoids taking positions on controversial subjects like abortion. He argued that No Labels is a "movement that says we stand for nothing." Markos also raised questions about the transparency and funding of the No Labels movement, suggesting that their goal is not to advance public interests but to slow down the shift towards more progressive policies in America. The Daily Kos founder emphasized that current progressive policies, particularly those supported by the Democratic Party, align with what a majority of Americans want, contrary to the No Labels narrative that a third party is necessary. It's worth noting that this interaction is a compelling example of the growing tension between grassroots progressive movements and more centrist or corporate-funded initiatives like No Labels. Moulitsas' questions shine a light on the vague mission of No Labels, which presents itself as a cure for partisanship but avoids taking a stance on issues that matter to Americans. These "centrist" or "moderate" organizations often find financial backing from wealthy donors who have a vested interest in maintaining the status quo, which Moulitsas correctly points out. They are trying to will a mythical center into existence to protect an abusive and greedy class. It's critical for activists and politically engaged citizens to scrutinize these movements carefully, as they can serve as tools to dilute the push for meaningful change. They not only maintain the status quo but hurt the working class. They are well funded and message in a manner that confuses many into voting against their own interest. I had an extensive interview with Markos at Netroots Nation 2023, where we discussed this issue and many others. It is one that Democrats and Progressives need to watch here. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/politicsdoneright/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/politicsdoneright/support

Today on The Brett Winterble Show we're joined by former North Carolina Governor and WBT contributor Pat McCrory to talk about the "No Labels" controversy that is continuing to garner attention. Brett and the former governor react to how hosts of "The View," talked about the movement before talking about the politicization of election boards in states around the country + McCrory explains why he thinks it is an important movement ahead of the 2024 Presidential election as well as preparing for the onslaught likely coming the way of the "No Label," believers. McCrory also talks about how his previous experience dealing with controversial issues has prepared him for dealing with backlash in the future before sharing what he's hearing inside both political parties when it comes to the direction of the leadership of The United States of America + why he feels like we need more choices than simply Trump or Biden for the head job. No Labels, which pitches itself as a centrist movement to appeal to disaffected voters, has secured a considerable amount of funding and is working behind the scenes to get on Presidential ballots across the country. The group has yet to announce a candidate, but “most likely we'll have both a Republican and Democrat on the ticket,” Pat McCrory, the former governor of North Carolina and one of the leaders of No Labels, tells David Remnick. Senators Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema are reportedly under consideration, but McCrory will not name names, nor offer any specifics on the group's platform, including regarding critical issues such as abortion and gun rights. That opacity is by design, Sue Halpern, who has covered the group, says. “The one reason why I think they haven't put forward a candidate is once they do that, then they are required to do all the things that political parties do,” she says. “At the moment, they're operating like a PAC, essentially. They don't have to say who their donors are.” Third-party campaigns have had significant consequences in American elections, and, with both Donald Trump and Joe Biden historically unpopular, a third-party candidate could peel a decisive number of moderate voters away from the Democratic Party.
