Today, I'm stepping away from my usual topics to discuss something far more urgent—something that demands our attention and action. I recently sat down with one of the founders of The Guardian Group, an organization devoted to eradicating sex trafficking right here in the United States. What I learned left me shocked, outraged, and determined to act. Did You Know? * Child sex trafficking is the fastest-growing criminal enterprise in the world. * Children as young as 6 or 8 years old are being trafficked for sex. * This heinous crime is not limited to far-off places; it's happening in small towns and big cities alike, right here in the U.S. When I learned that sex trafficking was occurring in my own small town, I was stunned. It's happening everywhere—hidden in plain sight, often right under our noses. This isn't someone else's problem. It's ours. Join the Fight Visit The Guardian Group to learn how you can: * Donate to support their mission. * Volunteer your time or skills. * Educate yourself and others to recognize the signs of trafficking. Every action counts. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of countless victims and send a clear message: We will not tolerate this evil. This is a fight worth fighting. Will you join us?

Nate Prussian retired as a Colonel from the US Army after 26 years, primarily serving in special operations units. In his final assignment Nate commanded the 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne) at Fort Bragg North Carolina. Nate was drawn to Guardian Group through a desire to make a difference at home now rather than abroad. Through his travels across the globe Nate saw time and again that women and children suffered terrible acts of aggression and violence, and it's his belief that human trafficking has no place in this country nor any other.

The episode today is hard to hear but very important. It reminds us that the daily battle over the phone and internet are worth it because our teens (especially girls) are being stalked. Our guests today are Andrea Perry and Jeff Keith they both work at Guardian Group and are both committed to reducing human trafficking. What was eye opening for me is that human trafficking isn't just stealing your daughter away from your home, it can happen in your home on the internet. Our teens don't just need us to monitor the time they are online, they also need to be monitored about what they are doing and who they are talking to. In this episode we talk about the important conversations you can have with your teens to keep them safe. Andrea Perry received her degree in Psychology from California Polytechnic State University in 2009. Post college her efforts were focused in the adolescent counseling sector, working with youth in multiple different capacities. in 2015, she was introduced to Guardian Group and the efforts to prevent and disrupt trafficking. With a passion to make a difference in this world and help young people she began volunteering and later joined the team full time. Jeff Keith started his anti-trafficking work in 2004 while working with global anti-human trafficking organizations and researching best practices in the fight against human trafficking in the United States. During his research, Jeff recognized an opportunity to significantly reduce human trafficking in the United States by providing focused training, directed networking, better resource coordination and innovative anti-trafficking technology, and thereby founded Guardian Group. Jeff Tiegs is an amazing difference-maker. He uses his extensive experience in counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency to counter sex trafficking in the United States. With over 25 years in U.S. Army Special Operations and combat experience and multiple tours in Afghanistan & Iraq, Jeff is applying that expertise in his endeavors. He is the Chief Operating Officer of Guardian Group, whose mission is to prevent and disrupt the sex trafficking of women and children while enabling partners to identify victims and predators in the United States. Jeff is also The Chief Operating Officer at All Things Possible Ministries, whose mission is to identify, interrupt, and restore those affected by trauma. In this episode you will hear: In the U.S., we are unbelievable consumers of prostitution, and what comes with that is minors. You're on deployment every time you walk out of the house. One in four women is sexually assaulted or sexually abused. The sex trafficking crime is so open. It's openly advertised. There are people that think we should defund the police. I think more reasonable people think we should reallocate funds and figure out ways to do this better. There are people out there who can augment what law enforcement is lacking. The [funding] money is gonna go where the people demand it. [Our organization], All Things Possible does everything from simple counseling to freeing sex slaves. Find strength in simply being alive. What comes off of your tongue – what you speak – is what you become. The term “Yahweh” is the sound of breathing. The mere fact that we, as humans, are breathing, we're saying the name of our Creator every time we breathe. What is God's name? The thing that gives breath to everything that lives. The first thing a baby says is that breath of life. One family, who lost their son on the battlefield, found relief in the fact that the last breath their son took was the name of our creator. Find strength, find solace, and find peace, in that simple act of breathing. If you're alive, you're saying God's name, and He's there to help to you.

This episode covers the importance of the aftercare process. This is something Guardian Group does not provide directly, however, we have helped communities start a CSEC (Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children) Response Team to ensure their aftercare response is victim-centered, trauma-informed and their resources are leveraged efficiently. Definitions:CSEC - a multi-disciplinary team made up often of law enforcement, victim advocates, nonprofit resources and district attorneys. If you are interested in what this may look like check out our local team. We helped set this team up and would be happy to consult with you best practices to establish a response team in your area, just email us here. See full show notes here.
We are very careful when we talk about rescue vs. recovery. When you rescue someone you remove them from a dangerous situation, however, when you provide an opportunity for recovery you create a space that allows someone to return to a normal state of health and mind. Guardian Group simply exists to play a role in the overall recovery process. We believe the true heroes in this space are the law enforcement officers and aftercare providers.Full show notes can be found here.

In Bend, Oregon, sex slavery is a very real thing. Most people deny this fact, but in this incredibly important episode of the Torcom Talk podcast, the team from Guardian Group shares stories of sex trafficking happening right here in our town (and probably yours, too). In it, they disclose: ▸ How women get sex trafficked by their own families ▸ The youngest girls that get sex trafficked (HINT: It's infants!) ▸ What time of day women most-often get purchased from WORK computers ▸ How women get bought on social media ▸ The task force in place to bring these women home ▸ How you can get trained on what to look for to stop this epidemic ▸ The multiple ways YOU can make a difference ▸ and SO much more. We NEED to start talking about this so that we can bring light to it, to change political policies to attack it, and, ultimately, to stop this. I hope you take a listen. ❗️ PLUS ❗️ Learn even more at the Guardian Group website at https://guardiangroup.org/.
