Have you ever felt a oneness with all there is? With each person and each thing in the universe? If you have, you probably felt peaceful, serene, and bigger than yourself; and your mind may have been quieter than it ever has been before. It is a feeling that people crave once they find it and even if you don't think you've felt it before, you probably have at least had an inkling. This week your host, Carol DeChaine and her guest the Reverend Dr. Bonnie M. Russell explore how to find oneness, that connection with spirit and how to stay on the path to find it when we get distracted and too busy with everyday life. Oneness and connection can make you less angry, less negative, and even improve your physical wellbeing. Everyone needs a little help now and again finding their connection to spirit; this may be just what the doctor ordered.Rate and review this podcast: https://lovethepodcast.com/living life Guest Rev. In this episode of "Reconstruction Calls," Spiritual Director Aaron Manes talks with Rev. Chris Terry about her journey to sobriety and why using the twelve step program as a guide can help all of us learn about ourselves and how to treat our own power as reconstructed people. Chris Terry is the founding minister at HeartSpace Spiritual Center. Her preferred title is HOSS – Head of Spiritual Stuff. She enjoys a lighthearted approach to self and life. She is driven and guided by curiosity and the need to learn, and she lives most happily in the world of ideas and possibilities. Chris's background is as diverse as her heritage, and includes entrepreneurship, volunteerism and alcoholism (recovered). She began her ministerial training the day she was born, but was formally trained through the Holmes Institute, where she received a Master's Degree in Consciousness Studies and was trained as a Science of Mind and Spirit Minister. Her ministerial license is through the Centers for Spiritual Living, an international organization over a quarter of a million strong. In the first part of today’s episode, Rev. Bryan Wolfmueller talks about Isaiah 55 and how *efficacious and creative God’s word is, and how even though it feels like we have a million off-ramps from the Christian faith, we only have three enemies: the devil, the world, and the flesh. Then, Rev. Brian Flamme joins in to talk about the Word and the devil, how the very thing the devil attacks is the thing that destroys him. He then goes on to talk about apologetics, the natural knowledge of God versus revealed knowledge of God, and also the arguments that prove God: historical argument, rational argument, 5 arguments from experience, and moral argument. Guest Rev. Brian Flamme, pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Roswell, New Mexico, joins host Rev. Bryan Wolfmueller, Senior Pastor at Hope Lutheran Church in Aurora, Colorado, and author of the book Has American Christianity Failed?, to talk about curious topics to excite the imagination, equip the mind, and comfort the soul with God’s ordering of the world in the Law and Gospel. Pastor Brian Flamme joins Pastor Bryan Wolfmueller for the entire episode to continue their discussion on suffering and affliction. How does suffering attack us? Pastor Flamme and Pastor Wolfmueller dig into the seven theses of divine justice from Elihu in the book of Job. They are: God is not the cause of evil. Job 34:10 God deals, not capriciously, but justly with men and all creation. Job 34:11 If God punished according to justice, all life would end. Job 34:14-15 God knows all of men’s actions and pleas for mercy. Job 34:21-28 When God does not answer men’s cries, it is because of men’s pride. Job 35:12 God deals in mercy with men by his Word. Job 36:10-12 God’s mercy comes through suffering in that it opens men’s ears to hear his Word. Job 36:15 Read more about these at wolfmueller.co/elihu-2 and wolfmueller.co/jobsummary. Guest Rev. San Francisco's Juneteenth, a commemoration of the end of slavery, is one of the largest gatherings of African Americans in California every year. This year's Juneteenth parade was named in honor of Rachel Townsend, a leader in San Francisco's black community who died of sudden illness in 2018. Townsend was active in San Francisco and Oakland politics and fought to keep Juneteenth in San Francisco despite the city's shrinking black population. At its peak in the 1970s, 13 percent of the city was black. That's compared to just about 5 percent in 2017. Rachel Townsend's father says events and buildings named after his daughter are a great honor and a reminder of the city's black history. Guest: Rev. Arnold Townsend, father to Rachel Townsend, Board Member of the African American Art and Culture Complex, and Vice President of the San Francisco NAACP
