In today's Daily Fix: Xbox has officially delayed Avowed to February 18th, 2025. Their reason? Too many games. Xbox is apparently aware of the packed release window toward the end of 2024/early 2025, so they want to make sure the game gets the attention it deserves, even if that means delaying its release. In other news, Sega has trademarked Yakuza Wars, which sounds like the next entry in the popular Like a Dragon series. Unfortunately the trademark paperwork doesn't even mention that this is a game, so it could be anything, really. And finally, a new Darksiders game was revealed in THQ Nordic's latest digital showcase. The last entry was Darksiders 3 in 2018, and this new entry will be developed by Darksiders 3 and Remnant: From the Ashes developer Gunfire Games.
This week we played Remnant 2 by Gunfire Games. Remnant 2 is a third person action RPG with soul like elements. Take a control of a character who is trying to uncover the mystery of the world stone. Pick a class and travel to different worlds in hopes to finish off the evil root once and for all. Play solo or team up with 2 friends to help take down some of the best boss fights.
The boys set out to save the multiverse in this soulslike third-person shooter developed by Gunfire Games and published by Gearbox Publishing in 2019. Adam, Alan, and Lucas battle The Root in their quest to save all of existence! Their struggle will have them travel to different worlds, fight in epic bosses, and even enjoy a good meal with friends before facing "Annihilation". Tune in and see what happens! On this episode of Your Friendly Neighborhood Gamers Andrew and Dylan take a deep dive into Remnant 2. Remnant 2 is a third-person shooter action role-playing video game developed by Gunfire Games and published by Gearbox Publishing. A sequel to Remnant: From the Ashes, the game was released for PlayStation 5, Windows and Xbox Series X/S on July 25, 2023. Like its predecessor, Remnant 2 is a third-person shooter inspired by Soulslike video games. Players can wield up to two guns, alongside their melee weapon. And at the beginning of the game, players can select their character archetypes. While the first game features procedural generation by changing a level's layout and enemy spawn points, it has been significantly expanded in Remnant 2. According to Gunfire Games, enemy types, the aesthetic of a region, boss characters, non-playable characters and the game's storyline and quests are also randomly generated. Players can play through the entire game solo, though the game also supports a three-player cooperative multiplayer mode. The hosts break down what they thought about the gameplay loop and whether the procedural generation worked well or not. They also discuss the puzzles in this game and discuss if they added to the overall experience or not. They tackle the question of whether or not this game should be called a soulslike game or it there could be a better category for it to fit in. And lastly, they talk about their individual builds and how they approached the game as a far as weapons and gear. Together they discuss their careers including their early work at Vigil Games on the Darksiders series; founding Gunfire Games and their early projects with Oculus; their early ideas for the Remnant series including key pillars; learning to be strategic given development restraints; and how Remnant II is a culmination of everything they learned from their previous projects. We're back! This is round 2 of Episode 378 because our audio broke on the last podcast. We missed a week, but this podcast is still as exciting as ever! We review our hotly anticipated game Remnant 2. It delivered on all fronts and we're having a blast with this Dark Souls-like game. Brett also reviews the indie game Viewfinder. It's a puzzle game where you use photography that becomes part of the real world. It's sometimes hard to believe this is even real! Jason has been playing Final Fantasy 16. It's a brand new release in the Final Fantasy series but it's a bit more basic than past titles. The story is incredible but it left us wanting a bit more depth in the combat system. We also talk about remasters coming from Rockstar. Unfortunately, news broke already that the first remaster is Red Dead Redemption on PS4 and Switch. Not what we wanted, but you can listen to the podcast to see what we truly wanted! We end with a spoilercast on Star Wars Jedi Survivor. It's a great game, but left us leaving a lot to be desired. This week Andrew picked Remnant: From the Ashes by; Gunfire Games. Save humanity from the root in this 3rd person action dungeon crawler. Keith also gets very excited for his "I am Root" joke, and there is also some weird earlobe discusses stuff at the end. We get sidetracked a lot.
We're back with games to catch up from in 2019. We played Remnant: From the Ashes. This is a game that is a third-person shooter/melee based game similar to Dark Souls. It features dynamic boss fights, advanced gameplay and more. Assemble with Care is a mobile game from the creators of Monument Valley. In this game, you play as Maria who is a traveler who fixes antique things. You soon learn there's more than things to be fixed in this small town.In our gaming news, Ubisoft is restaffing to try and work on improving their stories. Several developers have postponed their games as well to release better products after last year's poor release cycle. We also have Playstation again skipping E3 this year. Is it the end for them? Our discussion revolves around games missing from 2020. We talked about our most anticipated games but here we want to break down games we thought we would see by now and discuss if they're still alive and kicking or will never see the light of day.Special thanks to Crazzie Pro Gear. Dewa, mata. Juank (& family), Travol y RodoR
In a chat with David Adams, he talks about growing up loving video games, starting Vigil Games and Darksiders. He talks about the new studio and future of Gunfire Games.

Welcome back to CU Towers. It's been an eventful couple of weeks and with it being far enough away from big events like E3 and close enough to the very quiet looking summer, hosts John Miller and Andrew Brooker finally have some things to talk about. What things? Well, let me tell you. The boys get into release date news for Pokemon: Lets Go Pikachu and Evee and discuss the possibility of forwards compatibility with the upcoming Pokemon RPG. They get into the multiplayer mode finally coming to No Man's Sky and talk in depth about the upcoming Darksiders 3 now that Gunfire Games has confirmed it's release date and special editions. Elsewhere, John sinks his teeth into the first couple of entries in the Halo: Master Chief Collection and Brooker gushes over his latest completion of Darksiders: The Warmastered Edition. Is there anything worth playing in the Halo remasters? Could Brooker possibly have anything left to say about War's adventures through the apocalypse? Come find out. We continue our episode reviews of Voltron: Defender of the Universe with Episodes 25 – 28, where Marc and Author Dan Jolley make comparisons with Beast King GoLion. Marc starts by catching up with Dan as Dan tells us about his current comic books, novels, and video games he's writing. Dan is proud to announce some things he can actually talk about: For comic books, Dan co-wrote “LARP!” from Dark Horse Comics with Shawn deLoache. The first issue is available here: https://www.darkhorse.com/Books/24-368/LARP-Volume-1-TPB Dan is writing a 3-novel trilogy, all original, called The Gray Widow Trilogy. The first novel is called "Gray Widow's Walk", a grounded sci-fi horror story centering on an Atlanta-based female vigilante, which has just been accepted at Seventh Star Press and is planned as the first in a trilogy. Gunfire Games have hired Dan as lead writer to create a rich narrative that chronicles one hero's lifelong quest to save his homeland from an evil force. This unique adventure will allow players to explore a compelling fantasy world in full virtual reality with an incredible level of immersion and detail in an Oculus Rift VR environment game called Chronos.
