This week on the show, I wanted to talk through the creation of a character who will not only show up in episode 500 next week but also some subsequent Thirteenth Hour stories.  I wanted to explore some of the references, motivations, and conflicts behind the character, who I am calling Faltron, the cloud dragon, kind of a mix between Falkor from the film, The Neverending Story and Voltron from the cartoon, Voltron: Defender of the Universe (you will hear some music from the theme in the show).  I came up with the idea years ago and toyed around with the idea of an amorphous being that could transfer in to a more solid shape if cold but have a more gaseous, cloud-like structure in warmer temperatures.  While I'm still toying with how he will fit in to future stories, fleshing him out for the DnD session in episode 500 helped quite a bit.As a little preview, here is a little sketch that will show up next week (see it at https://13thhr.wordpress.com/2025/03/03/the-thirteenth-hour-podcast-499-creating-a-new-thirteenth-hour-creature-who-is-the-cloud-dragon/)Thanks for listening!∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞  Signup for the mailing list for a free special edition podcast, a demo copy of The Thirteenth Hour, and access to retro 80s soundtrack! What's up, dudes? Today we're talking about the present Santa brought me for Christmas 1985. Yes, it's the Defender of the Universe itself: Voltron! Joining to dig into these Christmas wishbooks is my buddy Lucas Hinojosa and DJ Chad Sheppard! We dig into the history and awesomeness that is the mighty robot! It's a Voltron Christmas! From days of long ago, from uncharted regions of the universe, comes a legend, the legend of Voltron, Defender of the Universe. A mighty robot, loved by good, feared by evil. As Voltron's legend grew, peace settled across the galaxy. On planet Earth, a galaxy alliance was formed. Together with the good planets of the solar system, they maintained peace throughout the universe. Until a new horrible menace threatened the galaxy. Voltron was needed once more. This is the story of the super force of space explorers, specially trained, and sent by the alliance, to bring back Voltron: Defender of the Universe. The series was primarily edited from Beast King GoLion (Hyakujū-ō Goraion), and it features a team of five young space explorers commanding five robot lions which can be combined to form Voltron. In this undefined future era, the Voltron Force is in charge of protecting the planet Arus, ruled by Princess Allura, from the evil King Zarkon of planet Doom, his son Lotor, and the witch Haggar. Each episode huge killer "ro-beasts" terrorize the people of Arus. In the decades that followed, companies produced Christmas tie-in merchandise, such as ornaments, sweaters, and stockings as well.Lion robots? Check. Flaming swords? For sure. Edited and sanitized original anime for American audiences? I'm looking at you, Sven! So grab your key, hop in your lion, and form your mighty robot to this episode on Voltron Christmas! Give us a buzz! Here's an idea: 5 robot lions that turn into a super robot. Sounds pretty simple and straightforward, doesn't it? But the story of how Voltron came to be was much more complicated. It's a story that begins in Japan, involves multiple anime shows, and then goes through the ardous process of being transformed for a North American kids audience.  It's the show that caught everyone off guard when it became a surprise hit. This hit quickly spread worldwide, and the giant robot soon became a cornerstone of 1980s pop culture. This is the history of...Voltron. The Everything 80s Movie Review Podcast: Patreon.com/80s

Here we are at Part 1 of a two-parter focused on Juston and his Sentinel. A boy and his bot. A man and his machine. A guy and his Gundon. A kid and his kit. Well, you get the idea, right? This is a love story, or an indictment against capitalism. Either one of those things. So let's talk big robots. We know them and we love them, and we want to destroy monsters with them. What is your favorite? I don't care, I am going to tell you about my favorites. I love Voltron. C'mon, five lions that make a big robot. Love it! I love Robotech. Big mech robots, transforming vehicles, focus on the individual characters. Fantastic. But we could do without Minmei. But besides that, awesome-sauce. Give me a veritech and cyclone any day of the week. We all see this is a real call to the Iron Giant. You know this movie....during the Cold War a big iron robot falls from space and crashes into a forest, then it becomes best friends with a boy. This movie will break you, guaranteed. The Terminator franchise started with a simple story about an assassin sent back in time from 2029 to 1984 to kill Sarah Conners. From there, it became a real cultural icon. Can we just imagine if we combined Laura with a terminator. That would be awesome. Then of course there is the Transformers. They are more than meets the eye. They are the team of robots that we ran home to watch when we were kids. They are the toys that we begged our parents for. They are the statutes that we now spend big bucks for. They are cool.   Check out the artwork of this comic at: https://jeffandrickpresent.wordpress.com/2024/03/29/avengers-academy-32-what-the-heart-wants-part-1/   We also have some merchandise over at Redbubble. Here are some of our favorite screenshots from Clear Day: In our Retro Voltron segment, Greg reviews another episode that celebrated a holiday in the original series, Voltron: Defender of the Universe, the 67th episode, Doom Girls on the Prowl. Here is a summary of that episode and some screenshots: Haggar tries to send a baby Ro-beast after Queen Merla, but Merla's pet buzzard catches it. Haggar apologizes, and offers to help Merla conquer Arus. Meanwhile, on Arus, there is a parade taking place honoring the planet's leaders. Merla's forces attack. Keith and Allura try to get the villagers to safety, while Lance, Hunk, and Pidge race to get to their lions. In protecting the villagers, Lance, Hunk, and Pidge get zapped with a freeze ray, and their lions are sent over a cliff, and to the bottom of a canyon. After getting the villagers to the castle, Haggar makes her baby Ro-beast turn into a full sized one, and sicks it on the castle. With the other three frozen, Keith and Allura have to face the monster by themselves. At the end, all of the Voltron Force has statues made of them by the kids they had saved earlier in the episode, and King Alfor's ghost shows his approval of Keith. As Always, Thanks for Listening! Marc and Greg review the 4th Episode of the 8th and final season of Voltron Legendary Defender on Netflix: Battle Scars. Also, for our Retro Voltron segment, Greg details 2 episodes that relate to Battle Scars, 1 from Voltron: Defender of the Universe Lion Force, called Pidge's Home Planet, and 1 from Vehicle Force called Great Stone Space Faces. In Battle Scars, while floating through the universe searching for signs of a Robeast, the Paladins head toward Olkarion and realize they aren't alone on their journey. Here are some of our favorite screenshots from Battle Scars: And from our Retro Voltron Segment, here is the synopsis from Pidge's Home Planet: Princess Allura is preparing for her coronation as the rest of the Voltron Force looks on. After Nanny insults them, the guys decide to check the monitor to see if there is any trouble. They discover that Pidge's home planet, Balto, is under attack by Zarkon's forces. Pidge said that his family was moving to a new planet, but he is not sure if they made it out in time. Keith, Lance, Pidge, and Hunk decide to head for Balto, but are cut off by the castle guards. Coran tells them that they must stay and protect planet Arus. He tries to place them under house arrest, but the Space Explorers quickly subdue the guards and head for Balto. Once there, they are confronted by Lotor and a new Ro-Beast. Back on Arus, Allura receives a telepathic distress message from Keith. She must now decide whether to stay and protect her planet, or to go and help her friends. Here is a screenshot from Pidge's Home Planet: Also from the Retro Voltron segment, here is the synopsis of Great Stone Space Faces: The Voltron Force discovers signs of an ancient civilization on planet Neb. Our Voltron friends, Dana, Rye and Todd join Marc and Greg to review the first episode of Season 8 of Voltron Legendary Defender, Launch Date. Dana, who lives in Tennessee, recently had lost all of her possessions in a fire at her family's home. This was a devastating loss for Dana. Here are some pictures of the house after the fire and the area that used to be Dana's bedroom: There is a GoFundMe page setup to help support Dana's family and their efforts to recover from this tragedy with their most immediate needs. They have not reached the GoFundMe goal yet, so please provide help if you can to a very special Voltron fan and her family at this link: https://www.gofundme.com/support-lewis-and-missy-hall Dana's best friend, Rye, who lives in South Carolina, knew that Dana had lost a lot of personal items with sentimental value, including a lot of art, signed posters and other special items she had bought at various conventions that Rye and Dana attended together over the years. One item, in particular, was a Voltron poster that Dana had signed by many of the voice actors and crew from Voltron Legendary Defender that she had collected at several conventions. Rye, without Dana knowing, had reached out to us on Twitter DM and asked if there was any way to connect with DreamWorks Animation to see if there was a way to get something signed and sent to Dana. We contacted Seth Fowler at DreamWorks PR, letting him know about the fire that destroyed Dana's signed poster, and asked if they could help Rye get something signed for her friend, Dana. It just so happened that THAT very night, the DreamWorks Animation group had planned a cast and crew party to celebrate the final season of Voltron Legendary Defender. Within a week, a signed poster of the combined lithographs of all the Voltron Legendary Defender characters, which was signed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Lauren Montgomery, Josh Keaton, Kimberly Brooks, Neil Kaplan, AJ LoCascio, and more of the cast and crew that were at the party that night, was on its way to Dana's boyfriend's house, where Dana was staying. Rye had given the address to Seth so it would be a surprise to Dana. Here are the pictures Dana shared on Twitter when she received that package: A huge THANK YOU to DreamWorks, the cast and crew of Voltron Legendary Defender, and everyone involved in getting this signed poster to Dana. And of course, this would have never been possible without Rye, who not only initiated the communication to get her best friend something that meant a lot to her, but introduced Dana to Voltron Legendary Defender in the first place. You'll hear all of these stories and more, as Dana and Rye joined us to help review Launch Date, the first episode of Season 8 of Voltron Legendary Defender on Netflix. Dana is on Twitter: @danahall26 Rye is on Twitter: @yauilla Todd Matthy also joined us for this episode review podcast. Todd has been on the podcast previously, as well. Todd had been involved in the MediaBlasters DVD set for Voltron: Defender of the Universe, back in 2006. Todd is on Twitter: @ToddCMatthy Todd is also the creator of Robots vs. Princesses, a full-color comic book series. "Princess Zara wants to find a baby dragon. Instead she finds a giant robot. During each guest segment, we give away 1 of the 5 total prizes in our #LetsVoltron5 contest! So, there are 3 prizes given away in Part 1! Neil Ross is our 1st special guest and despite the fact that he was one of the 6 original voice actors to work on Voltron: Defender of the Universe back in 1984, he has blessed us by having 2 new projects come out recently. He was the voice of Voltron in the Happy Honda Days ad we talked about in our last podcast, and he wrote a new autobiography called "Vocal Recall: A Life in Radio and Voiceovers". We are proud to have Neil on the podcast for the third time and to see that he mentioned listening to our podcast in his book! He doesn't mention "Let's Voltron podcast" by name, but he was talking about our interview with Franklin Cofod in the 33rd Chapter of the book. If you would like to pick up Neil's book, there are 4 different formats to choose, including paperback, audiobook (read by Neil himself, and doing some of the voices he's famous for!), Kindle, and PDF file. Net proceeds from the sale of this book will be donated to 1) Broadcasters Foundation of America & 2) The Actors Fund Order here: https://www.neilbook.com/order-the-book.html Our 2nd guest on the 5th Anniversary Podcast is Bob Koplar, President of World Events Productions in St. Louis, Missouri, the copyright, IP and trademark owner of Voltron. Bob gives us every indication that both Voltron merchandise and Voltron projects will continue in the future, although there is nothing next in line after Voltron Legendary Defender just yet. Our 3rd guest on the 5th Anniversary Podcast is Jeremy Corray, VP of Digital Entertainment at CoolFire Studios, and also the former Creative Director of WEP and the former co-host of Let's Voltron: The Official Voltron Podcast. You never know what special information about Voltron that Jeremy might reveal, as he gives us his Top 5 Voltron moments in his career. We hope to have Jeremy back for another podcast soon, where he reveals some of the secrets behind "what almost was" or "what might have been" while he was working with Voltron at WEP. Here are the 3 prizes we are giving away in this podcast: Our 5th Anniversary Podcast didn't only come with 2 great podcast episodes. It also came with a really cool bunch of designs from 5 amazing Voltron fan artists! Although we don't introduce the artists for this 5th Anniversary Podcast until Part 2, we want to share these designs with you here, AND let you know you can buy these on our TeePublic store! The first 2 designs are SO BIG, that we can't put them on a t-shirt or other apparel, but they can can be put on posters, prints, notebooks, tapestries, pillows and stickers and things like that. Here are 108 characters you love, all in one cohesive design: And here is the t-shirt design that will also look great on all apparel, stickers, pillows, mugs, phone cases, prints, posters, and more: And here are the designs that include the 5th Anniversary Logo that we used to promote this on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram: You can get these wonderful designs on our TeePublic store, and for the first 72 hours, they are all on sale at 30% OFF at: https://www.teepublic.com/stores/let-s-voltron-podcast?ref_id=5313 We are so proud of the work that our "5th Anniversary Five" artists did on these designs, so please make sure you listen to Part 2 of the 5th Anniversary Podcast to hear how this wonderful collaboration came together like Voltron! Marc and Greg were actually TOGETHER at RetroCon 2018, for only the 3rd time ever! And what an occasion for the hosts of Let's Voltron: The Official Voltron Podcast to combine like Voltron! We are honored to have RetroCon interviews and panel coverage with BJ Ward (Allura and Haggar - Voltron: DOTU and Voltron: The Third Dimension) and Garry Chalk (Sky Marshall Wade and Manset - Voltron Force)! RetroCon takes place in the fall in Oaks, PA, at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center every year, thanks to the organizers and founders, Rose and Tony Tuski (far left, kneeling, above picture), and a slew of volunteers. Thanks to Rose and Tony, who invited special guests, BJ Ward and Garry Chalk, we now have a couple interviews with voice actors from 3 previous Voltron series, prior to Voltron Legendary Defender, which makes this whole podcast a Retro Voltron segment! BJ Ward, who has a 40-year career in voice acting, opera singing, and children's book writing (Farty Marty), is best known for her roles as Scarlet from G.I. Joe, Allura and Haggar from Voltron: Defender of the Universe, and Velma from Scooby-Doo, among hundreds more. Garry Chalk, who has just as long a career as BJ, in both live-action and animated series and movies, is best known as Optimus Prime and Optimus Primal in Transformers: Cybertron and Transformers: Beast Wars, and also as Insp. Andrew Pawlachuk in Cold Squad, and Man at Arms in Masters of the Universe (He-Man), but we remember his roles as Sky Marshall Wade and Manset from Voltron Force the best. We are very honored to have been able to have spent some time with both BJ Ward and Garry Chalk to talk about their amazing careers, and to hang out with other Voltron fans while we enjoyed RetroCon weekend in Oaks, PA. Pixel Dan, another guest of Rose and Tony, has reviewed lots of Voltron toys on his YouTube Channel. We were happy to meet him at RetroCon! On Saturday, we had a blast hanging out with Mel (@melmeiko), who we met for the first time, even though she's been on the podcast a few times. And, on Sunday, we hung out with Windy C. (@windsweptzariel), another fan we've known from social media and the podcast, but had never physically met before. We also met Nicole Schatten for the first time, whom we've known as a big Voltron fan from Facebook. There were also lots of Voltron merchandise for sale by vendors at RetroCon, and Marc picked up a Trendmasters Cyber Sentinel Voltron for $5, and a Trendmasters Allura figure from Voltron: The Third Dimension, which he had signed by BJ Ward. Greg picked up the Holy Grail of 2 scripts signed by the cast of the original Voltron series, personally donated by Neil Ross (Keith/Pidge) for charity. He also had BJ Ward's book, Farty Marty, signed by the author herself! Overall, RetroCon was a ton of fun! We didn't win any of the raffle prizes that were given away both days, but there were some cool Voltron prizes available! The winner of the adult costume contest at RetroCon was Quicksilver, the leader of the Silverhawks from the cartoon of the same name. Here he is, pictured, below: We also want to share with you Josh Keaton's VLOG from NYCC. We got a little choked up watching it, because it has meant so much to us that Josh Keaton is our Shiro and our Space Dad, and he is going to miss recording Shiro and going out to promote the show as much as we've enjoyed watching the show and meeting him at the cons. Thank you so much for sharing this with us, Josh! Here is that link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C74YwlXrWL4 "Dungeons and Voltron" is making its final quest at the Let's Voltron store! In 10 days, this awesome mashup design is retiring, and will no longer be available in our store. So, this is your last chance to get this amazing design by K-Lionheart, and at an awesome price - only $15! https://www.teepublic.com/campaign/248-dungeons-and-voltron-retiring-campaign/t-shirt?ref_id=5313 As Always, Thank you for Listening! Josh Keaton, who plays Shiro on Voltron Legendary Defender, and is an amazing actor, returns to the podcast for a unique one-on-one interview. Find out where Josh will be making his next Con appearance, what he thinks about Shiro's development through the end of Season 7, and whether there will be a sequel to his hit YouTube Music Video, "You're Welcome". Also, our RetroVoltron segment is all about Commander Hawkins, the OG equivalent of Captain Shiro. Josh Keaton is Shiro's #1 Fan. If you dare, you can challenge this statement, but since Josh had at least a 1-year jump on anyone else for getting to know this character intimately, and even brought this character to life, with the help of a great animation team, and continues to be Shiro's greatest Champion, you should be happy with sharing #2 with multitudes of other Voltron fans. We are so happy to present this unique one-on-one interview with Josh Keaton. You may notice at one point, about 3.5 doboshes in, that Josh's audio sounds different for the rest of the interview. Josh switched to a different iPad on Skype that was newer so the connection would remain consistent. We hope you understand. Thanks! For our RetroVoltron segment, Greg reviews what we believe is the OG equivalent of Captain Shiro, and that would be the Captain of the Explorer from the Vehicle Team episodes of Voltron: Defender of the Universe, Commander Hawkins. Greg not only gives you the Voltron side of Hawkins, but also the Armored Fleet Dairugger XV (original Japanese show) version, and how it compared to Voltron. Here are some screenshots of Commander Hawkins: As we mentioned in the podcast, Hot Topic is now offering Voltron Legendary Defender Ceramic Reveal Mugs! There will be lots of commentary around everything that happened during the panel, and we'll conclude with a few things that happened at WonderCon, other than the panel, and give you info on how to enter to win a signed lithograph from all 8 participants of the panel. During the Voltron Legendary Defender panel, each of the voice actors, Tyler Labine (Hunk), Bex Taylor-Klaus (Pidge), Josh Keaton (Shiro), Kimberly Brooks (Allura), and Jeremy Shada (Lance), talked about their character's story arc and how it may have changed from Season 1 to Season 2, and all the panelists show clips from their favorite moments from Season 2. Joaquim Dos Santos and Lauren Montgomery (Executive Producers) announced that Season 3 is coming, but no specific date is set yet. There are two clips about Prince Lotor. The first is an April Fools joke played on the audience. The second is a clip that shows images of Galra forces, with an audio overlay of Prince Lotor talking. So, the audience was able to hear Lotor's voice, but we haven't seen the character, nor do we know who the voice actor is that plays him. The moderator announced several things that were coming up for Voltron Legendary Defender, including a mash-up collaboaration with online game, Puzzle and Dragons (available now), a Kids Meal Promotion with special Voltron Legendary Defender toys at Burger King (available now), Pidge's Birthday on April 3rd with a special Facebook LIVE Q&A with Bex Taylor-Klaus, the Voltron84 release of 12 hand-picked episodes of Voltron: Defender of the Universe on Netflix (available now), Sticker Packs for IOS (iPhone/iPad iMessage app), where you can send stickers to your friends through text messages, and a new mini-series of Voltron Legendary Defender Comics is coming from Lion Forge Comics on Wednesday, April 26th. There rest of the panel was a Q&A session for fans to ask questions, and for each person that asked a question, Head Writer Tim Hedrick gave out signed story cards used to develop the actual episodes from the show. Marc and Greg also talked about their Griffith Observatory visit, where Emily Eiden (voice of Shay) works, the Hollywood sign, and a dinner with podcast guest Shannon Muir, her husband Kevin, Dani DeWald and Shambhavi Kadam, Marc's wife Kim, and Greg and Marc. If you listen to the end of the podcast, you'll hear how you can enter into a raffle to win a signed lithograph of Blade of Marmora Keith, designed by Joaquim Dos Santos and signed by all 8 people who were on the panel. Dying Light is an action survival game presented in first-person perspective. The game is set in a vast and dangerous open world. At night, the hunter becomes the prey as the infected grow in strength and aggression - but even more lethal are the nocturnal, inhuman predators that leave their nests to feed. You will need to make use of all your skills and any available means to survive till dawn. Dying Light can be purchased on 3 different video game platforms: PC XBOX One PlayStation 4 If you do buy it and enjoy the game, please let Dan know. He would love to hear your feedback. Original Series Associate Producer John Teichmann gives Marc and Jeremy a first-hand account of what it was like to be involved with the Voltron phenomenon from the beginning, and what keeps people talking about it to this very day. John identifies some of the key features that made broadcasters buy into the Voltron promise, including excellent stereo sound by Paul Vitello and his team, superior music by John Petersen and Dale Schacker, and great writing by Jameson Brewer, Marc Handler, and the rest of the writing team. John gives insight into a side of the Voltron story we had not ever heard before, and details what he has been doing since Voltron finished its original television run in 1986. Never underestimate the power of Voltron Fans! That’s what we learned this week when a Twitter conversation started a string of events that led us to our special guest this week: Voltron DDP Comics Author Dan Jolley. As you will find out from listening to this podcast episode, Dan Jolley is overwhelmed by the fan support for his version of the Voltron story. Since he was the first one to create true character backstories and bios for many of the characters we were introduced to by the original TV series, he was given free reign by WEP to make this universe his own. Dan’s intuition served him well as the major plot points came together, and we saw these characters mature before our eyes with every issue of the DDP Comics from 2003-2004. As this episode begins, Marc makes the colorful connection between Voltron and the Olympics, and Mike remarks that both Lion Force Voltron and Vehicle Voltron could be our team to cheer for in the best Olympics ever. Then, we welcome Dan Jolley to the podcast and we go back in time to 2003, when Dan first started working with Image Comics/Devils Due Publishing on the Voltron: Defender of the Universe Comics. This enlightening conversation hits many aspects of the Voltron story, from the origin of Voltron to why the space mice won’t be wearing any tutus. You may even hear what Dan would write about if he was able to continue writing some more Voltron comics. He is certainly open to the idea, and would love to work with World Events Productions. For those of you that submitted questions, listen carefully, as Dan answers your questions, and chooses one of you to receive a signed copy of one of the original Dan Jolley DDP Voltron Comics Issues in Mint Condition! Dan also tells us about two current projects he is working on with Dark Horse Comics: Bloodhound: Crowbar Medicine Terminator: Enemy of My Enemy It was a real blast having Dan on the Let’s Voltron Podcast, and we have all of you to thank for it! PETER! You didn’t tell them about…the RUMBLE PAK, DID YOU? Sadly, we were unable to secure VHS tapes to record for RSS subscribers, but we do have another massive-length episode of Nintendo Free Radio for you featuring Stephen; Austen; and Donald (what do you MEAN there used to be another guy?) rambling about their latest misadventures in the world of video gaming. This time, Austen kicks off New Business bear-ly scratching the surface of Atlus/Arc System Work’s new fighting game: Persona 4 Arena, a home console game that un-bear-ably displays controller commands with Fight Stick inputs for some thread-bear reason.  Afterwards, it’s time to party like it’s 1985 with the PSN’s latest rhythm game, Retro/Grade, ending (appropriately enough) with initial impressions of the Wii’s swan song, Mistwalker’s The Last Story.  Have the creators of Final Fantasy finally created a JRPG without a terrible opening Act, or have they lost that odyssey? Donald then steps up on stage to discuss pacing and Classic Controller Pro issues with Sega/NIS America’s Wii Tactical Strategy Dating Sim Sakura Wars: So Long My Love; his experience on the Terrain of Testament playing (we think?) the PlayStation 2’s Fire Pro Wrestling Returns; and his battle against Spiral Power in the PlayStation Portable Mini Sasume Tactics! Switching things up, Stephen renders his verdict on the WayForward 3DS (and soon to be Wii U) puzzle platformer Mighty Switch Force.  Does the game do justice to Nintendo’s latest handheld, or should the developers have been booked for negligence?  Wrapping things up, Stephen then recounts how the pacing and analog stick controls aren’t such a snap in the Virtual Console’s Nintendo 64 Pokemon game, as well as the historical turn-based strategy game Civilization V on the PC. Following New Business, we activate the interlocks and connect the Dyna-therms for another installment of What Are We Watching (cheesy 80s theme song optional).  Everything old is new again as Austen discusses his newest anime Blu Ray acquisitions in the wonderful The Girl Who Leapt Through Time and the bizarre (but well-constructed) first season of Shakugan no Shana. Meanwhile, Donald describes the culinary misadventures of Gordon Ramsay in MasterChef and Hotel Hell.  Finally, Ceric delivers a techno-babble double-whammy in Star Trek: Voyager and the Voltron: Defender of the Universe sequel series with an-already legendarily terrible opening theme: Voltron Force. Afterwards in the Feature Discussion, with the final issue of Nintendo Power on the horizon the 3 of us sit around the camp fire and ramble for nearly an hour about our memories of the beloved magazine; our thoughts on the publication’s closure; and the future of Nintendo’s marketing in the Internet age.  We then once again conclude the show with our “1Ups” and “Poison Mushrooms”, including such topics as the 2013 World Pokemon Championships in Vancouver; the surprisingly-strong year of downloadable titles (little did we know La-Mulana would get announced for North American WiiWare shortly thereafter); the industry’s frustrating practice of creating underwhelming countdown web sites; and…adventures in house cleaning and storage bins? We’d love to hear your thoughts on this and past episodes, so feel free to drop us a comment in the Talkback thread or on our website.  Be sure to send in your Listener Mail as well, and (time permitting) we’ll read and discuss it on an upcoming show!  You’re also welcome to talk with us and other fine (and often eccentric) folks over at the Nintendo World Report Forums!  Finally, now that we’re finally on iTunes, please don’t forget to rate us there.  We’ll see you in a few weeks, but until then we hope you enjoy the show!
